What does my dream mean? – How to explore your dream meanings:

It is important in reading the definitions of dream images to realise that not every possible meaning can be covered. So please see if you get the idea of what is being said and allow your own imagination/feelings to fill in the meaning.

There are several ways you can understand the meanings held in your dreams, and there are several levels. The first is an easily understood level, followed by greater depths:

  1. You can enter a key word in the search box above. The Dream Dictionary contains interpretations on almost any type of dream subject. So if you dreamt of a flying saucer landing in a field, and aliens getting out and taking a baby,  a snake, and a pregnant dog back into the saucer, you could search separately for each of these subjects in the Dream Dictionary. Find the entry for flying saucer; then the entry for dog, baby,  snake,  pregnant, and so on. For each entry, find further related entries by looking under “Similar Articles” on the right hand side of the page. Then see Easy Dream Understanding
  2. Each entry gives the general meaning of the dream subject, just as an encyclopedia or dictionary does for a word. Several possible meanings are given. This is because as with our speech the position of the word – the context – gives it special meanings. So a hot dog would be quite different to a black dog, dog-end or dead dog. So when you read an entry which has several different meanings, sometimes with a ‘;’ between, it simply means any one of them could apply. So you need to think about the feelings in your dream, the context, the other imagery used. Please do not fall  into the trap that one reviewer made of saying that the whole dictionary is about sex. Of course sex is one meaning among many others. So use your own sense of your dream as well as any definitions given.
  3. To really explore the meaning it is useful to use the Dream Dictionary as it is designed, rather than arrive at a ‘thought out’ interpretation. To see a working example of this see ‘Dream Interpretation Example One’. And if you really wish to explore your dreams, see Talking As and Being the Person or Thing

Introduction to the Dream Dictionary Ultimate

Tony Crisp has been interested in the health of mind and body since his early teens. I began writing about these subjects in 1956. My fascination for what lay under the surface of the mind led me to personally explore the unconscious using dreams and other mental and physical disciplines. From 1972 till ‘94 I worked as a psychotherapist using an eclectic, Humanistic Psychology approach which included dream work and releasing the secrets the body holds. My books include Do You Dream; The Instant Dream Book; and Liberating The Body and many more. See My Books also Life’s Little Secrets

During those years I has worked as a dream columnist for The Daily Mail, and She Magazine. I was the regular dream interpreter for the London Broadcasting Company; I ran Teletext’s dream page on UK television’s Channel Four; and also for New Zealand Teletext and now run a web site giving dream help as well as many features on subjects connected with the  human inner world.

Throughout more than five decades I have been involved in a personal search for the secrets of mind and spirit. In those years I have also taught thousands of people techniques of deep relaxation, meditation, and methods of self exploration using dreams. Wanting to dig deep I explored the use of dreams and taught individuals and groups of people how to use these visions of the night to discover and heal the deepest issues in themselves, and to touch the high ground of their spiritual awareness. I worked for twenty years as a psychotherapist using several approaches, one of which was a way of honouring the body as a doorway to the unconscious mind, the emotions and spiritual experience. See The LifeStream

During the fifty years of seeking the wild wondrous beasts of the mind and spirit I dared my own inner adventure. But I also travelled with other people as an ordinary person, not a therapist, sharing their experience of fear and wonder as they unveiled and set loose their fountain of perception. I have travelled countless dream pathways, traversed the timeless with those using awareness enhancing drugs, and wrestled with the vitality of the body as people mimed and shouted their deepest intuitions through movement, dance and voice. See Your Dreams and Understanding Them.

A Master Course in Exploring Your Dreams

Your dreams can become vortexes of power to transform your life, and to enhance your perceptions. There is no ‘wave a magic wand’ route to this. It will not happen because you read a great book, or look at a good dream dictionary. Those things might help, but the real magic lies in whether you can enter into your dream in the right way.

I had a dream a few nights ago which worried me quite alot. I was walking down a road and had no idea where i was. Next thing i started walking up sme imaginary stairs towards the sky. I carried on going up and evntually i was among the stars. I began floating around and was shouting for help but nobody could hear me. I felt a choking feeling and suddenly i was surrunded by newborn babies.I continued floating around and shouting but nothing changed. Eventually i began to drop rapidly towards the earth. I woke up as i was falling and i couldnt breath. Could you try to explain what this means. Thank you. xx

Jennifer – Do you not know the poem by Wordworth? “The Soul that rises with us, our life’s Star, Hath had elsewhere its setting, And cometh from afar: Not in entire forgetfulness, And not in utter nakedness, But trailing clouds of glory do we come From God, who is our home: Heaven lies about us in our infancy!”

We are all fallen angels, and were pushed into this life by our need to learn from our earthly experiences.

I looked away for a split moment and when I looked back up he was sitting up moving around on the bed while I still saw him laying down with no movement, It has disturbed me greatly and for the first time in years I am bothered by this vision of his spirit laying down.My first experience was when I was about 10yrs and I am 42yrs now….and just this morning I came across a dead crow by standing water…please help…

I had a dream when I was around seven that I never forgot. I was on this ship with my sister and a lot of other people that I didn’t know, and something was wrong. The world was out of whack and something weird happened with gravity. Everything started floating. I grabbed onto this wooden bench that was nailed to the deck and suddenly these things whizzed by and when they were right in front of my face time slowed down so I could see them. They were these six silver metal hexagons, all about the size of my head and all in a line. Each one had a different number of red light bulbs on the surface. The first one had one, the second had two, and so on all the way up to six. And for the first five all of the light bulbs were glowing red, but on the sixth only four were glowing red and two were out. I didn’t know what it meant, but I had a feeling that something was wrong. And the dream itself had this overwhelming feeling that I had to remember it, like it was important. Do you know what it means?

Hello! I just wanted to ask if you ever have any trouble with hackers?
My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing many months of hard work due to no
data backup. Do you have any methods to stop hackers?

Hello, Sir. I dreamed of someone inviting me to eat. Then, recently, I dreamed of him again, inviting me to drink water. What might this mean? :)

My grandfather, who was from a family of Native Americans out of Virginia (tribe unknown) fostered my interest in dreams. He told me those I really remembered were significant, the others may not be as important. He asked me what I dreamed each morning, so I got into the habit of remembering them, and soon, my dreams sometimes helped of forewarn me things to come. Last night I dreamed I caught an American Goldfinch in my hands. I loved it so much, and was kissing its head. It was not happy. i noticed it getting weak after a while of struggling, and let it drink water. I wanted to feed it nyger, which is the food we have in bird feeders here that they flock to. But seeing it grow weak, I let it go. I felt sad, but it flew quickly away. What does my dream mean, please? Thank you. Alexis

Hi, Tony. I’ve gotten pretty good at interpretation, but I just remembered one from when I was a child that has me stumped. It would have been after my Grandma died, maybe the first Christmas after. So I would have been 7. I dreamed I was in a classroom, but was the only child there. The rest were adults. The teacher asked if anyone knew what a slug was. I raised my hand and said, yes, a slug is a snail without its shell. She said, “Wrong. Anyone else?” Someone else raised their hand and answered, “A slug is something that beats up your heart until it dies.” And then I woke up. I had the dream 3 times before I got up at 5 in the morning.

I was in the kitchen sat opposite Emma and Simon and had the cat on my lap. I started taking photographs of me and the cat and Emma said “that was a nice one” but I told her that I couldn’t use it because my fur was on end which meant the cat was digging her paws into me meaning that she didn’t like her home and this made me look bad. Simon Agreed. In the photograph I had ginger and white cats fur which was stood up on end and Jessy looked terrified but in the dream I did not, I looked normal and the cat looked normal she was just sat peacefully on my lap as usual, it was only in the photograph I had fur and it was up on end and the cat looked scared. I feared people looking down on me and thinking I was a bad person so would not use the photograph.

(You said you like some background info) I am 19, female, I own a cat, it was my own cat in the dream. I do not feel the dream has anything to do with me not looking after my cat, I think it must have something to do with a complicated relationship I have been getting into. I have been with my boyfriend for over 3 and a half years now but no long feel any desire to be with him and have been back in touch with my ex from about 5 years ago who I have never stopped loving, our relationship is growing strong by the day. I worry that my friends and family will hate me for what I am going to do, both for hurting my boyfriend and because they hate my ex’s guts. I am really interested to find out what it may mean to have had fur in the photograph I took and why the photograph looked so different to the actual situation, why the cat looked scared of me?

Thank you, Rosie

Last night I had a dream that my color guard team and I were all eating lunch in a modified version of our high school auditorium. I was sitting with my best friend, and then we admitted our feelings to each other. Next, everyone had a huge water balloon fight, and each color balloon meant a different emotion. I was really upset because I kept grabbing the love balloon, and it would not pop on my best friend no matter how many times I tried. We are both girls, and I have never thought of a girl that way, so what does it mean??

Addie – I think it means that the sort of love you felt for your friend does not pop your balloon.

When I’m about to go out, my mother called me because she wanted me to do something for her and i stayed. after i’m finished, I put on my make-up and dressed in white. But I never had a chance to ride the bus to promenade.
