Hole

An error you may fall into, a difficulty you are facing, or a danger that confronts you. A big hole might suggest a descent into the unconscious, memories. A hole, especially with grass, foliage or bushes around it, can represent the female sex organs.

Any hole, tunnel or cave, not only suggest female attributes such as receptiveness, they also indicate the unknown or what is still unconscious. If the tunnel, hole or cave is dimly lit, it suggests aspects of you that are not defined, in the shadows of other more fully expressed qualities. See: Cave and Fall.

A hole can also be an escape route, so you need to define if this is true in your dream.

Difficulty or tricky situation in life; a situation you might ‘fall into’; a place to hide or feel protected in – therefore womb like feelings; an escape route or a way through from one situation into another; a way of ‘seeing through’ something; an ‘opening’ or opportunity; the vagina. Occasionally refers to death. Or sometimes used as word play meaning whole.

A hole is also something that things can go into or come out of. Food goes in our mouth for instance and comes out the other end. So poking food in a hole could link with eating. But holes can link with leaks, and sometimes dreams use a leak to suggest the way we lose energy or waste our energy resources. (Rocket dream as example.)

Going in hole: Meeting feelings, urges or fears we usually keep unconscious; confronting aspects of self buried beneath our surface awareness; memories of womb existence; death – burial.

Falling in hole: Of course it could mean you are meeting a difficulty that you didn’t keep  your eyes open to see. But some holes we fall into or find ourselves confronted by are there as a challenge to see if you are confident that nothing can hurt you in your dreams. Falling is not fatal or even harmful in dreams. We tend to take things we are rightfully scared of in everyday life and then take them into our dreams where nothing can hurt us. But of course we still fear if we do not understand that dreams are like computer games and are virtual realities. You can get killed a hundred times in dreams and yet you awake the next day none the worse – except if you are frightened, and  it is fear that can do you harm, not dreams. See dream yoga.

Holes in clothes, objects: Faults; weaknesses; illness; ‘full of holes’.

Holes in body: Sense of weakness; emptiness in ones life such as loneliness; illness; negative feelings about that part of self; see body for appropriate part.

Hole in head: Letting everyone know what you think; gossiping.

Hole in road: Difficulty ahead. Death or death of person falling down the hole.

Pothole: If you are going into it, it suggests you are exploring the precviously uknown memories or parts of your nature, gaining a deeper understanding of yourself. It could even suggest going back into a womb type awareness.

Small hole: It depends where it is and the context in which it appears. It could refer to the vagina, or a hole on your body.

I was in the dream, where I was walking on a path that had some pot holes, and I got to a place that had waters cluttered in that water there seemed to be a deep and a shallow part.aa lot of people went through The deep part, but I insisted on going through The shallow part where I won’t soil myself so much.only to put my leg in the shallow water and I started sinking very deep into a water, the water had the shape of a tunnel, but it was so deep as I can ever imagine it was like entering a different world. Inside the water I saw some animal like sea animals and also I heard a mans voice telling me about experience of the past in that water.at the end it seemed like I was being stirred in the water, then a force brought me out and I found myself on top of a dry land beside The small water I entered. Please I need interpretations.thanks

I recently had a dream involving a hole. Me and my 4 cousins were in my backyard collecting up fallen leaves ( it was near the end of fall in the dream) . Suddenly I noticed that the ground underneath me didn’t appear solid and steady; it didn’t feel as if I was walking on hard ground. I cleared the leaves and noticed a large hole, it had items in the hole but I can’t remember or didn’t see what they were. My family gathered around and looked but didn’t know what to do. Finally we covered up the hole with leaves and that’s where my dream ended. Idk why, but I get chills whenever I think about this dream even though it wasn’t scary or creepy. What does this dream mean?

I had a dream that I was walking down the road along with someone whom I don’t remember. I saw a huge HOLE on the road like really big and since I was walking on the opposite direction of the oncoming vehicle so I saw that Car didnt notice that huge hole as he was turning inside and then i seen that car going down that hole n when I looked down in shock I saw that car somehow managed to drive through with any damage. Then me along with my buddy whoever he/she was went to the store nearby to buy something so that we could put Alert Signs to prevent other car going down that hole which we did and I don’t exactly remember what did I write on that warning sign but it was to help other drivers.

So what does this signify?

Andrea – A strange mixture – lizards and mouth. I haven’t come across that combination before, so I am guessing they have died inside you. Maybe because you have been back your ‘lizard’ nature.

There is something called the ‘Reptilian complex’, which includes the brain stem and the cerebellum. It carries our genetically transmitted ‘instinctive’ behaviour such as suckling at the breast as a baby, aggressive response as with and including territorial defensiveness, the courtship and mating behaviours in reproduction. One of the best known expressions of this brain is the ‘flight, fight, freeze or faint’ response in survival situations and of course panic attacks.

The lower brain, moreover, seems to be the source of profound emotional responses that are beyond our conscious control. We cannot deliberately decide to feel sexual attraction or hate, anxiety or aggression any more than we can consciously influence our rate of growth.

So, if you recognise that any of these you have been repressing and have died, it would be wise to let them have freedom. But that is my guess, and you can find out for yourself by imagining being the dead lizard parts by using http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson

    · Write down anything that you think might have triggered the dream or links with it in some way.
    · What you associate/feel about any person, animal of object in the dream is immensely important. See Working with associations
    · Put in any insights you have about people or animals in your dream – it has to be the character of them as they appear in the dream.
    · Please let us know your age and gender.

I have had 2 dreams now where I’m climbing up something and there is a small hole I have to fit through at the top and I get stuck in the hole because it’s too small but after pushing I finally squeeze through. What does this mean ?

    -Tony Crisp 2016-10-16 13:18:03

Abbi – It could mean that you had a difficult birth and yet managed to come through.

Or that you have been feeling stuck in life, and at last have found freedom from it.

Hello! I woke up from a dream that I don’t remember much, but I remember the following:

I got into a boat to go pick up my husband, everywhere was water (some disturbance, but I wasn’t afraid or worried). Soon after I was in the boat, a person ( a guy, don’t remember the details) started stabbing the boat repeatedly to make holes in it. I was surprised but not scared. Almost immediately the boat started to get filled with water, but I noticed my boat was from rubber and I got out, stood on the floor (guess the water wasn’t deep) and emptied the boat from all water and got in again. After that I don’t remember anything. What could this dream mean?

Hi, my mom stayed with me this week. She’s been sleeping in my daughters room. She had a dream that alot of people kept looking at hole in my daughters room. When she asked what was going on, everyone warned her not to get close, something was in there, when she looked, an eye popped up looking into ,y daughters room. My daughter is 9. Please Help!

    -Tony Crisp 2016-10-07 8:22:37

Veronica – It is your mothers dream and doesn’t actually refer to your daughter. Nearly always when people dream about someone they know or a strange new person or situation they automatically believe the dream is about that person, situation or animal. But when we think of our friend or partner our thoughts are not them – just our thoughts and feelings about them. So dream images are ways of communicating via our associations not actual things or people.

So what are your mother’s feelings about your daughter, if you find that out the dream starts to make sense. Also you need to know what she felt when she saw the eye in the hole.

Things to remember when writing to us with your dream:
    1. Write down anything that you think might have triggered the dream or links with it in some way.
    2. Put in any insights you have about people or animals in your dream – it has to be the character of them as they appear in the dream.
    3. Please let us know your age and gender.
    4. Describe any emotions expressed or indicated in the dream.

I recently had a dream where I stood next to a large wooden polished box, some one said it was a box of heaven, and opened it.
There were three holes, and when the box was opened I heard the lake and smelled honey more clearly than any dream I’ve ever had, I started crying and my chest felt really heavy, but when they tried to close the box, I stopped them. The two people, both my friends, looked at me with dead eyes and said in a voice that was different than theirs, “What do you hear, what do you smell?’
Then I woke up crying.

-Marleme 2016-09-30 14:31:33

Last night i had a crazy dream.
I dreamt that we were walking with my friends,my sister and my son. To get out of of where we were we were we had to cross a river. I didn’t want to at first because there was some little octopuses and fish. But I got into the water and started to walk, I was scared But was also ok because I was wearing shoes. The river had rocks and we ended up having to hike out but it turned into a little mountain. But it was littered with Chechen bones and pieces of raw chicken, it was so gross. As we were going up I saw a lady coming down and I said how is it is it, she told me that I don’t eat that nasty here but it was almost over. Then I have heard some people saying to be careful with the chicken when they came because if I peck your head. At some point my friends went off and my sister and my son moved away from where I was. I kept on walking and I saw some giant chicks coming towards me, tried to hide but saw a whole in the floor. I jumped into a whole. Then a chick came by and was pecking into the hole, then it was trying to get in, so I grabbed it by the beck and threw him to the side of the whole trying to slam it into the wall. Another one came by and I did the same. I tried getting out of the whole, but don’t remember if I got out, I think I woke up as I was trying to get out.

If you want before this dream I had another dream that I was going to One of my friends son’s birthday parties. The party was in the basement but to go down you had to go through a door the size of a pot hole. I looked at my friend and I said I can’t go down there I’m not going to fit. I thought she had done this on purpose because I stopped working out with her and gained some weight back. So I didn’t go down the hole, I just hung out above the hole with some other people at the party.

    -Tony Crisp 2016-10-02 13:23:01

Marlene – The second dream is on the same theme as the first one – avoidance.

The activity was taking place in the basement. In dreams such places and images are almost always showing you what is taking place inside you – perhaps that is a place you have never explored. See http://dreamhawk.com/inner-life/inner-world/#MakesInner

So a basement represents the world you are barely aware of. It is a place where you meet challenges, see entrance to a huge world within you, that scares you. For the pothole is the entrance to that wonderful and strange world – the rabbit hole on Alice in Wonderland – which is a symbolic story about exploring your inner world.

As I say to people often, “The human personality – the You that you call yourself, with a name, is only a tiny thing. It is moved and tossed around by all manner of drives, ambitions, emotions, fears, temptations, worries, love and desire with its pains and hopes.” We are in reality like a small bubble floating on the enormity of the sea. The sea is what is often called the unconscious, but is like an enormous mind. See http://dreamhawk.com/interesting-people/edgar-cayce-and-the-cosmic-mind-superminds/ and http://dreamhawk.com/inner-life/the-unconscious-2/

The sea, the unconscious, is the forces or life processes that keep you alive and give you being. It wasn’t your mother and father that created you, but they did perform an action that set in motion the Life – the miracle – that formed your body from the slime of your parents mating.

Avoiding going down the hole was an action of fear. Think about this – Each of us are immersed in a ‘river’ of constant change. You if you think about it have carried, pushed, impelled by this current as you were moved through babyhood, childhood, teenage and adulthood. Then the current carries us on through old and through gates of death. All the time we are faced by decisions, and each decision directs us on a different path, helping to create our future. And this force of growth and change is fought like hell by many as they are afraid of getting old facing death – the river you crossed

But strangely enough it is by going down the hole and meeting the trials that come that you get beyond the fears that confront almost everyone. See http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/lifes-little-secrets/

-Aryianna 2016-09-28 14:29:36

I had a weird dream , I was walking and I stumbled across a hole . I looked down and all of a sudden a child crawls out . Then , I think 6 more crawled out , different ages too ! I stood there just staring and all of a sudden a man pokes his head out and says you were my favorite one . Then I woke up. What does that mean ?

    -Tony Crisp 2016-09-29 9:29:42

Aryianna – I agree, it is strange. Also I wish you had given some indication of what age you are and whether you have any children or even a man in your life.

The reason I ask is because a hole with a child crawling out suggests a vagina. But a hole can also indicate a creative centre that can give rise to anything.

Then six more children appeared and a man who says, “You were my favourite”, suggesting this happened in the past.

I do not have a really good sense of the dream, but my best guess is it refers to a past life in which you were the mother if seven – not unlikely in the past.

For several nights now I wake and check the front yard. I dream that right under my nose someone is digging 1 quart to bushel sized holes in my front yard, and now water is bubbling out of one, the largest one that is right outside of my front door.
It scares me!
What could they mean?
I’ve dreamed of things that came true-a relative’s sudden illness, deaths, pleas for help,
and of conversations with dead relatives. But nothing like this.

I had a dream there was a monster tornado it was killing everyone in the city and me and my parents were terrified we kept trying to find the best place to take cover but this giant gaping hole where you could see the sun kept sucking people up and luring over our heads and we lived in constant fear it would turn into a tornado again, the hole kept moving further and further from us to the next town but the sky was black always and we were scared

I had a dream that my boyfriend had holes and tears on an innapropriete part of his body, and i didnt say anything i just smiled along with him, and i didnt wanna make him sad or anything…what does that mean?

    -Anna - Tony's Assistant 2016-07-31 9:08:59

Dear Hannah – Your dream may reflect your feelings that are related to that part of your boyfriend’s body. (and his “inappropriate” use of it?)
The tears may reflect a need to express your feelings rather than “just smiling along with him.”
It takes some practice to learn to talk with your partner. (about physical intimacy?)
Before you decide to talk with him, it will be helpful to sort out your own (unconscious) thoughts and feelings and your dream can be the start of this exploration.
For that purpose you can use http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson for both your own dream figure and your boyfriend in your dream.
While exploring his dream symbol you may uncover whether your boyfriend in your dream reflects your boyfriend in waking life and/or whether he is a symbol for your inner male who is psychologically hurt; http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/archetype-of-the-animus-jungs-view-of-the-male-in-the-female/
Not wanting to make “him” sad may reflect your resistance towards experiencing your own feelings; http://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/cried-cry-crying/
    Anna 🙂
