Leg Legs

This points to the things that support you in life. Your support may depend upon parents, job, money, religion, friends, your own confidence. Sometimes an event occurs, or we receive news, that knocks away our support or self confidence, and dreams represent this by a problem or injury to your legs. Legs can also depict the ability to get about in life. Ambition for instance, may give us drive and confidence to stand up and do something in life. If your business fails though, ambition may crumble, represented by your legs being kicked away from you, or being injured.

It helps to know which leg, because although most of us are aware if being right or left handed, but few people realise that this applies to legs also. It makes a difference in interpretation. See: LeftRightGrowth

Dreaming about your leg or legs usually connects in some way with what motivates you, the emotional and physical strength you use to get about in life. To have one’s legs knocked out from under one means loss of confidence and ability to carry on with life.

Although you may depend upon someone like partner or parent for support, or on work or position for self value, ultimately the legs represent your own emotional or conceptual support system. So in your dream about leg or legs you may be considering what state your own confidence, your own self value is in. When trying to understand legs in your dream See: lame.

In some dreams legs are shown as having the qualities of roots, and bringing strength from the earth. This shows you drawing on deep reserves of your strength and wisdom from your connection with the Earth’s processes and chain of life. See

Example: ‘My Mother asked me to go and buy some butter for her. A chain on my left leg prevented me from going very far. I look down the road and see my Mum, Dad and my four brothers in the back of a car. I wave and call and they drive right past me, going over the chain I am wearing on my leg.’ Lorraine. LBC

Example: I was in a very loving relationship in which I had developed powerful emotional links with D. We communicated many times each day while apart at work, etc. But one day there was no communication. I felt tremendous anxiety and emotional pain and shock, really frightened that she had dropped me. In fact she hadn’t, but my fears were very real and difficult to deal with. A real shock.

Having no legs: This shows a serious lack of confidence or the inability, perhaps sometimes, to stand up for yourself.

Injured leg or legs: Feeling insecure or unable to stand up for yourself, or to be independent.

Left leg: If you are  right handed this indicates that your less dominant or less conscious motivation, the emotional and physical strength you use to get about in life is involved. (Reverse if you are left handed.)

Right Leg: If you are  right handed it indicates  that your dominant or conscious motivation, the emotional and physical strength you use to get about in life is involved. (Reverse if you are left handed.)

One leg shorter than another: This links with whether you are right or left handed. If you are right handed, then the right leg represents your outward activities, and your left represents your feelings and attitudes – possibly vice versa if you are left handed. So a short left leg would suggest you lack confidence, therefore your outer activities are not fully supported. If it is a short right leg, then you have not developed enough skill or strength to be outwardly as effective as you are capable of.

Putting hand on leg: An approach to sex, or a warm friendly sign.

Smooth or hairy legs: Smooth legs show a more feminine strength, hairy a more masculine.

Trying to run but legs will not respond: This may simply be because while dreaming all your voluntary muscles are paralyzed so do not respond to you attempts to move. Or you feel as if you do not have the ability to do what you are asking of yourself.

Another reason might be because you are trying to go in a direction you feel anxiety about, or have no desire for. See: paralysis while asleep.

Idioms: a leg up; cost an arm and a leg; felt like I had a ball and chain on my legs; I couldn’t stand up for myself; last legs; leg over; leg work; legless; didn’t have a leg to stand on; my legs went to jelly; my legs were paralysed; on his last legs; pull your leg; tail between his legs.

Useful Questions and Hints:

Are my dream legs/confidence shown to be healthy, or do I need to work on them?

Am I ‘standing up’ well, or do I need to work on my confidence?

Where are my legs taking me in the dream, and how do I relate to this while awake?

My boyfriend and I have a 3.5 year old son with sensory processing disorder and a very low vocabulary.
His father and I have both had the same dream that he has injured or no legs.
In my dream, I had forgotten to take him out of a shopping cart and when pushing the cart into the rest of the carts, his legs were crushed. I remember feeling completely horrified and awful for doing so.
In his father’s dream, he went to change our boys diaper but then realized his legs were missing.
Our son has been in occupational therapy as well as speech therapy for a year now but has only slightly improved in behavior and speech.
His father and I both worry for his future at times, and sometimes worry he may not be getting all the help he could be getting.

Hello Tony, I hope.you are doing well.
I had a dream this am about being with some people a I there came a small child who looked up nicely then bearhugged my chin and would not let go, i walked with it then pryed it off then realizing these children are like little monsters killing people and I needed to stay away hence told the people to stay away..then one came out a black menacingly grabbed at my left leg again, I kicked it shut.
Then i was on a bluff overlooking a hill/valley with a chained . Link fence in between me and this area. The impression here was that I didnt want to end up there.
Inbetween this, blurps of flirting eyes with my friends beaus son (non existing in realtime) then wondering what to wear from heaps of clothes! As not to attract those children.
Strange dream. If you could offer anything I would appreciate it.
Thank you
Kathleen

I had a dream where my best friend was at physical therapy but it almost looked like a ballet class because of the mirrors on the walls. The therapist was evaluating her. She would try to walk, at times she would be okay and other times one or both legs would give out. The therapist encouraged her to yell, “Man down!” each time she lost her legs and needed help. I was so distressed and wanted to help her. The PT just kept pushing her! I finally said, “Don’t you realize she just lost her father at Christmas!! Isn’t that enough?”
So finally the PT gave her these arm crutches to use. My question, is this dream about me or am I just deeply concerned for my friend who is really struggling right now? Thank you.

Hi – It would help you to understand your dreams, if you would read – http://dreamhawk.com/news/summing-up/ and also http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/features-found-on-site/ which has so much information in.

Nothing can replace your own ability to understand your dream. With a little effort you can do this by practising what is described in – http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson or http://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/getting-at-your-dreams-meaning/

    Tony

Samantha – In both dreams you are suffering from lack of confidence.

I too suffered lack of confidence, so I ‘forget’ to go to exams and so did not do well in schooling or meeting people. But eventually I experienced two things that gradually eroded such feelings.

    The Tree
I can’t remember it not being there –
On the cliff edge overlooking the sea.
I don’t even know how old it is.
    There’s no way of knowing.
    Perhaps an ancient oak tree
    Yet barely to my waist.
    Shaped and stunted
    By harsh onshore winds,
By the salt and the rock.
    It is clinging and growing
To the very shape of the wind,
    Perfectly reflecting its environment,
And stunted, as you or I might be,
    By circumstances of our birth,
    Or events –
Yet still a magnificent oak tree.
Just as you or I, at our core,
    Are magnificent human beings.
    See http://dreamhawk.com/poems/the-tree/
    Also –

I realised I was experiencing the New Testament story of the birth. But this did not seem to interfere with the flow of what poured into my feelings. My whole body felt the wonder of the baby and I fell to my knees before it. I knew as if intuitively, that all the whole cosmos had somehow come alive as this helpless vulnerable child. I was so overwhelmed, all I could say over and over, between sobbing cries was, ‘A baby’ – ‘A baby.’

The flowing emotions and the opened intuitive sense informed me that what I knelt before in tears was not a particular child. It was every baby ever born. For the first time I had been allowed to experience the enormity of birth, the holiness of every baby.

But like the tree, And stunted, as you or I might be,
By circumstances of our birth, Or events –
Yet still a magnificent human being.
Just as you or I, at our core.

I have very vivid dreams every single time I am asleep. Today I dreamt one of the strangest dreams ever. I dreamt I was a leg. As funny or weird as it sounds I was a huge right leg. I was running or hopping, more like long jumps as high the tree tops along side of a snowy road at 11pm at night. I would hide when cars would pass by with their lights on. I was trying to get back home to my mom.

    Tony

Lori – A huge right leg represents the massive efforts you put into expressing yourself externally and being able to stand up for yourself. But it seems unbalanced and partly something you are unaware of.

This is shown by the tremendous efforts to get back home to your mom. It doesn’t necessarily mean your actual mom and home, but it does point to something you need to make you feel at home with yourself. Please realise that you have an inner mother equally as powerful as an external mother. You have taken in millions of bits of memory, lessons learnt, life experiences along with all the feelings or problems met by loving and living with your mother, and they are a major influence in your early life, and in a few cases the child never becomes independent from its mother at any age. This is true even if your mother was never there for you – you still have all the memories of her not being there for you filed under ‘Mother’. The memories and experience we gather unconsciously change us and are not lost. It is part of you and is symbolised in dreams as a person or event. Such an inner mother can appear in dreams because you are still deeply influenced by what you hold within you. The inner mother can also signify what has been received via genes passed on or ancestral influences.

I suggest you try imagining yourself back at home with your mom, and notice the different feeling of not being there. In fact try switching between the two to note the difference. Then see if you can maintain the ‘home’ feeling.

I had a dream last night and I think this is the last episode lol. As soon as I woke up I felt angry at the same time worried. I dreamed I was in an accident and I lost my right leg. I can’t remember clearly but I think I joined a marathon with my friends and boyfriend which resulted to my accident. I picked up my right leg and tried to assembled it back. I didn’t see blood but i saw joints/bones. I was worried of course but I didn’t cry. I was thinking of going to the nearest hospital but I think people will laugh at me for losing a leg. So me and my boyfriend decided to travel for 8 hours just to go to a hospital which I think has better sevices. I cannot stand looking at my leg & can’t believe it happened. I’m careful not to move too much so that it wouldn’t be dismembered. I was allowing natural healing while waiting to have it stitched back. Then there’s a replay of what had happened. I saw a girl riding a vehicle and she lost her balance which lost her leg. We already saw it coming because she had a weak leg already before the accident happened.I mean there’s a fracture already and her unbalanced driving resulted to further injury and lost her leg. Then the last part that made me woke up angry is that I was having a hard time though I was still able to walk while holding my leg in place. My boyfriend assists me at first but later he helped a lady and asks her if she’s okay. I was the one in need but left me to assist someone else.
I don’t know what this all means I’m afraid it’s losing a talent/ability as what I’ve read on other sites. I’m a singer and a musician and I have a congested ears for years which affect my singing badly. On the other hand, I”ve been struggling with my work and I became so depressed these past days coz I’m not happy anymore. I cannot enjoy my own salary because I share it with my boyfriend. It’s like I’m working my ass off but others enjoyed the fruit. I always cry at work, I multitask just to please my boss, but I receive unfairness & discouragement from my boss. I wanna resign but I don’t have other work. I stayed at home this weekend and just slept all day compensating for the sleepless nights and anger. also I’m not in contact with my dad right now for not giving me my monthly allowance.

Hi – I am stopping from answering your posts fully – but will try to give hints; sometimes long ones because I quote from masses I have already put online. Also I need to take time to update the site – dreamhawk.

It would help you to understand your dreams, if you would read – http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/questions-2/#Summing and also http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/features-found-on-site/

Nothing can replace your own ability to understand your dream. With a little effort you can do this by practicing what is described in – http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPersonOrThing or http://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/getting-at-your-dreams-meaning/

    Tony

Well, Mow, you have so many issues. In a way you know the answers because you have spelt it out for me.

Your leg – It is you have lost confidence in yourself, so cannot properly stand up for yourself. At a period when I was feeling deeply frustrated with my situation, I sought advice listening to my intuition. The response was extraordinarily clear, like someone gently explaining how to deal with my problems. To quote what was said: Because you make real what you believe, you are in a trap of your own creation. It is not like somebody else can take it away from you. It is no good appealing to God to remove it, because it is you who have the power of creating or recreating it. You made this trap. You have to find the combination yourself and undo it.

To put it simply, if you believe life has no meaning, then you are living a life with no meaning. You are creating your own limitations. If you live a belief that you have wider possibilities – even if that belief is only that you have a right to talk to your neighbour, then perhaps you will go to them and say, ‘Can I have a spoonful of sugar’. You will then have stepped beyond your previous limitations. Each such tiny step creates a wider life. So who knows where the boundaries are? Who knows where you will travel to if you take the next small step? So, Mow, you have lost your balance.

Express your anger. It is a sure route to becoming clear about your best direction. Beating a pillow with a rolled up newspaper or tennis racquet for instance, while allowing your feelings to vent. Start mechanically hitting the imagined person. It doesn’t matter if at first you cannot feel the feelings; keep on and see if you can hook the anger and express it. It often takes several sessions to really empty it all out.

You need to reassess the relationship with your boyfriend – he asked her if she’s okay. I was the one in need but left me to assist someone else – also why give him half of your earning?

I’m afraid it’s losing a talent/ability – Your fear is simply your imagination about the future that hasn’t happened. Why keep playing it? The TRUTH is that you ARE a singer and a musician.

Stop wearing yourself away by stressing yourself out. Use slow breathing twice a day – morning and evening, http://dreamhawk.com/body-and-mind/the-slow-breath/
