Mouse Mice

Minor irritations; fears and worries; the mousy or timid part of self; shyness; the activities within us – our house – which go on unconsciously, which might be important though small, or gnaw away at one. It can therefore represent a problem of some sort that needs attention; the sexual organ which goes in and out of a hole. Often the mice in dreams are eating away at things you have stored, or are infesting a house or ones clothes. This suggests influences that are gradually gnawing away at your energy, well being or confidence. Or, as with the clothes, attitudes that are unclean or that you feel very uncomfortable with to the point of wanting them out of your life.

In some mouse dreams the mouse is burst open in some way, perhaps a cat attacking. This suggests the realisation or experience of ones own vulnerability or weakness.

But for some people the mouse depicts their feelings of revulsion, filth, horror, an influence that is unconsciously but persistently pervading their life and response to things.

Example: I saw that the place was infested with mice, and was somewhat dismayed. Then I took off, or shook out, my jersey or shirt, into a bathtub full of soapy water. Hundreds of mice fell into the tub. I saw that they all died in there as the bubbles dispersed a little. Then my wife and my mother were with me, and I told my wife she must make an effort to put all the food away and into containers, as if the mice found nothing to eat they would go away. TP.

Example: A mouse darted across the kitchen work surface and I caught it by placing a clear glass cover over it so it couldn’t escape. I was upset because mice are unhygienic but I didn’t know how to keep them out. I was trying to stop somebody from lifting one of the covers off the mouse but they lifted it anyway and the mouse ran out. I turned and moved away quickly so the mouse wouldn’t run up my arm. I turned my back on it and crouched down, hunching my shoulders up. But the mouse ran up the back of my clothing, under several layers, and got trapped at the back of my neck. In the dream the scenario was horrific for me as this little mouse was wriggling around inside my clothes desperate to escape and I wanted it out ASAP but didn’t want to hurt it. I was annoyed that it had run up MY back. It could have run up anybody’s back so why did it have to run up mine? CJ

As these two dreams show, the dream mouse can generate great feelings of revulsion. The last dream also illustrates a feeling that was trapped, but then released and travelled up the trunk of the dreamer. This is typical of released feelings that have been repressed and held in the body. The upwards movement showing the shift toward consciousness.

Example: I could now see that it was a small white mouse that moved. It was walking towards the children’s bedroom. We were all staying in a friend’s seaside holiday cottage at the time. I asked my wife what a white mouse was doing in the house, and thought maybe it had been a pet left by a previous holidaying family. Wanting to catch the mouse I got out of bed and went towards it. As I did so I saw that it was not just white, but shining, very beautifully. It also seemed to grow larger. First to the size of a rat, then to that of a cat. I was now close to it and it looked enormous, shining with an inner light, white and radiant. It was a thing of beauty. Its eyes especially struck me; pink but also shining.

I am really impressed with your site. I’m a dream interpreter and wanted to find something in print for a co-worker. There is a ton of garbage out there. I’ve hesitated to publish my own book because there’s so much competition; some great, some good, some bad and some that are just plain wrong. Great job here, thank you.

Parthena – You are welcome – and an extra wave to a fellow dream interpreter.

Also publishing is so easy now with Amazon Kindle – but as you say there is so much competition. Even so it is good to share your personal experience with dreams and what you found or experienced through or with them.

I dreamt last night that I had a fuzzy baby kitten named Max as a pet. Grey, brown, and white with blue eyes. And I also had a white mouse as a pet. I can’t remember what I called that one. But they didn’t fight or anything. But I accidentally dropped their carrier in my car. Well, I decided to find them and searched around in everything I had because I was moving. I found Max and a neighbor’s kitten that had somehow gotten in at my feet, and I found the mouse hiding in my craft box. When I pulled him out, the other kitten tried to take him away and eat him, but I saved him before he could get anything but drooled on. What exactly does this all mean?

I dreamed last night that my friend said she had a surprise for me while I was in my bedroom & when she came she had a mouse wrapped in a shirt & she insisted for me to take it & naturally since I hate mice, I started screaming & squirming away in my bed & then she said fine I’ll take it away, mind you she’s a really close friend to me & I had like 3 kittens on my bed.

Dear Yelena – Each person, object or even place in a dream should not be thought of as a symbol, such as a road sign that needs interpretation. A person or object is a living part of you, just as your hand is not a symbol it is a living part of you. As such a person is alive and responsive, with enormous depths. And a good friend in your dream is a wonderful aid in your life, an aid that can see you through the difficult times, and show you a new side of yourself.
I see the mouse wrapped up in a shirt as a symbol of a fear or worry about what other people (your girlfriend?) might think of you; so thoughts and emotions which relate to your public image.
And your (dream) friend suggests that if you look at your fear/worries and express them in some way, then they will be taken away from you.
That is simply how our unconscious mind works, those fears/worries we resist do persist and those we dare to face/observe, often just dissolve.
Through simple self-observation one gradually arrives at a form of insight which leads to a transcending of oneself as you stood prior to the insights. One may even arrive at a massive altered state of awareness – an insight into the impermanence of your present personality, and the experience of liberation arising from it.
Observing your own ebb and flow of thoughts and feelings, your own habits and responses to things, is one of the most powerful of tools to use in transforming your life. This also leads to a fuller connection with your intuitive connection with your core.
Much of our behaviour is largely or wholly unconscious. Becoming aware of something can by itself produce a change. If you are not aware of how you act or respond, there is less likelihood of satisfying change.

I think it will be helpful to explore your relationship with your friend in your waking life too. Like do you feel sometimes vulnerable with her direct approach towards you? Are you willing to share that with her? Is she sometimes trying to help you to express your fears; your worries?
Exploring this will serve a purpose because the bed is an important symbol to understand. It often shows exactly what you are doing in the subtle areas of relationship. So it can link with your close relationships, intimacy – an intimacy in which the qualities of the other can become part of you and a blending take place. Such a blending is not only that of you and another, but your known and presently formed self with what you hold within and latent.

I saw a white mouse stained in blood, he was not hurt, may be he had some species. I caught the mouse as it was very cute, He tried to bite me on my left thumb however, was not successful and then I caress him. Later, I let it go.

I dreamt of waking and feeling mice in my shirt. I pulled the shirt off to capture them, opened the door and shook it out. Two escaped into the house before I could do this. Afterwards I noticed that the nice had apparently been gnawing at my hands during the night. There were divits in the back of both from nibbling and when I turned the right one over, although there was no pain, I could see that there was a big hole in the palm with something that looked like a napkin in the opening. When I pulled the napkin out, there was a small lump of food wrapped in it. There was a moderate-sized cavity in the hand which also held a small condiment container with residue of some kind of sauce. I found this disgusting but did not remove the container. As time went on, I kept thinking that I should clean it out even though it did not seem to be infected and did not hurt. I haven’t had such a lucid dream in some time. This came during a night where I woke frequently.

I dreamt I was being followed by a sort of homeless down the street so I ran away and the street and sky became one at the end so I couldn’t run any further. There was a gap so I looked through and saw an underground world with its own sun filled with sand almost up to the street level I was standing on and looking through and almost hidden within the sand were giant shiny golden Egyptian statue human heads and shoulders sort of like the sphinx just sitting there, most of its body buried. Then the sun in my world went dark and I ran across the street into a load of oversized mouse cages I think but all put together. Then a group of human mice were walking around talking and holding things not knowing I was there hiding! What does that mean!! 🙂 this was second of two dreams I had that might and I never dream.. The first was me laying in bed with my deceased father beside me And I was trying to scream his name and call to him but out wouldn’t come out.. I had a great relationship with my father who was knocked over 14 years ago.

Last night I had a very strong dream, where I was helping my mother cook. When I went to pull out the lentils, three mice very passed out inside the package.

In the dream I was consumed with fear, and all I can really say was that I lept back while looking at them in fear. I remember my mother trapping them by throwing a pot over them. However, I was still scared that they would be able to chew through the metal pot. I haven’t been able to shake the dream at all.

-Helen Samuels 2014-09-29 13:20:56

I dreamt of mice and one held onto my finger and I shook it off. That’s all I can remember of the dream.

-jessica 2014-08-22 18:00:26

I forgot to add in the dream I thought the mice were pregnant so I felt guilty about wanting to kill them.

-Jessica 2014-08-22 17:57:22

I dreamt I was in the house where I grew up with my mother and their were mice in many places. I saw 4 in the dream two colors. I was trying to catch the mice with tongs and place in a plastic bag that kept breaking. My current boyfriend was there helping me. But it wasn’t until the end that I think we finally caught them all. I was panicked and he was calm.my mom want home and no idea she had a mouse problem. Thoughts?

-Ellen 2014-08-16 16:23:20

I dreamed there was a little mouse in the house and, I wanted to save it before my cat got to it. I’m not afraid of mice, I think they’re cute but I don’t want them around. Suddenly there were a bunch of baby mice running all over and I was trying to catch them and put them outside but they kept eluding me. They were very tiny and they were green and white. Then I woke up. Not a “bad” dream but weird.

-S.Peaz 2014-08-11 3:28:23

So last night, out of everything I dreamed, the only thing I remember is having a dead mouse on my table. I remember feeling as if it had been there for some time and for whatever reason I HAD been keeping this dead mouse for a while.. Finally I decided to get rid of it, and as I was trying to scoop it up, I realized it had been pregnant. I tried to squeeze the (probably dead) babies out, but to no avail and was quite sad about it. What does that mean?

    -Tony Crisp 2014-08-14 8:26:49

Stacy – The mouse, as you have read, probably relates to a small irritation or worry, something that may have been gnawing away at you. But such things, being small probably do not catch your attention – until the dream.

It is definitely about thoughts that were about concerns about pregnancy. Often American women are raised in an atmosphere of fear about pregnancy, and does that apply to you?

There is a sense that probably, but not certainly, they would not survive.

In any case, please use http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/secrets-power-dreaming/ to change the feel of your dream.
