The Hand Book - Neal Criscuolo and Tony Crisp Introduction |

|
The information given in the following pages is aimed to provide an easily understandable guide to hand analysis. Blending traditional wisdom with modern scientific findings about the lines on the palm and the shape of the hand, the book gives uncomplicated ways of analysing your own and other people's character and vitality from the hand. To this we have added a unique feature in the intuitive look at the meaning of the lines. As far as we know this has not been done before, and we believe it adds a great deal to the interesting information in the book. If you have read other books on the hand, you may feel we have left out some of the details of hand analysis. This has been done purposely, but has been replaced by a view of the hand that helps the reader understand the areas of the hand in a manner enabling them to fill in the details themselves. Many books on the hand give so much information one has to learn it parrot fashion to gather it all in. Such books give a list of words of the qualities of an area. The present book tries to foster a sense of the underlying processes of personality and body expressed in the hand. We hope this will lead to personal insight rather than just book learning. It should also lead to an ability to actually look at a hand and have an insight into it, rather than having to forever consult the reference book. Hand analysis is not a mysterious practice. An understanding of its art can give an accurate and interesting insight into your own and other peoples character and life. More than anything else it is an excellent way to make friends and develop meaningful conversation. Virtually everybody enjoys hearing about themselves, and having the luxury of talking openly of their own feelings, anxieties and plans. Ancient Chinese Hand AnalysisThe practice of hand analysis is thousands of years old. Used in ancient China as a means of psychological and health counselling, it later became a rather superstitious practice popularly known as palmistry. As such it was linked with fortune telling and predicting a persons future. A more rational approach is taken in this book, and analysis is based on understanding the relevance of the palmar lines and the shape of the hand. The future may certainly be indicated by the configurations of lines and hand shape, but only because a person's strengths and weaknesses predispose them to certain actions and relationships, and the results of these may recur again and again. Gypsy Secrets Of Hand ReadingPalmistry, or the art of the Gypsy fortune-teller, is not entirely ignored however. The wonderful intuitive gift some Gypsy's have, if understood, can be used by anyone who develops the skill through practice. Therefore a chapter on the use of intuitive hand analysis is included, rationally explaining some of the Gypsy secrets. This includes techniques for recognising and developing ones own intuitive ability. It explains the various ways the human mind arrives at 'intuitive' information. It gives a technique used by Gypsy's to suddenly call on this gift when confronted by a complete stranger. These features, like the intuitive information on the lines, is we believe, unique to this book, and adds to the literature on the subject even for those who have studied the subject for many years. Intuition Used In Researching The BookThe technique described above can be used in many different ways. The intuitive response informs us not just on other people, but can also synthesis ones vast memory of information on any given subject. The authors therefore used it to explore vague areas of hand analysis. For instance writers commenting on the line called hepatica or health line, frequently say that the traditional information is confusing and obscure. The information gained was very clear and definite. However, to make sure the reader is aware of what is traditional and what is added by the authors through their intuitive research, we have marked intuitive information as such.
