Bus Coach

You are driven along and so it may indicate habits, going along with the crowd, so maybe lacking the ability to chart a course for yourself. It can also mean that you are trying to get somewhere but depending on others, or another person to get your there. This can point to the experiences you gain with other people, or other people’s influence. It is particularly about what you meet in your undertakings or relationship with a group of people, and the direction taken in company with others.

Occasionally it might point to an overweight problem.

The journey and its events can sometimes point to what you are doing or trying to do in your waking life.

Bus stop: Waiting for events to take you somewhere; being involved with strangers or other people in a direction you are taking; depending on social events to get you to where you want to go; trying to get somewhere in life; trying to leave something or someone behind.

It can also be a danger point where you meet your own fears of attack.

Example: I was walking toward a busy street where I could get a bus or a taxi. A man walked up to me and started to harass me. He was going to rape me. I got angry. At first, I warned him to leave me alone. He grabbed me and in one swift and powerful kick to his groin, I got him. He fell to the ground, groaning.

Bus depot or coach station: Moving toward something new; making a choice or having a choice of directions – directions that may need decision, planning and or choice; changing scenes – i.e. from family to work environment. Leaving something behind – a relationship, ones youth. Ones ability to change; effort to get somewhere in life or experience something new; parting or meeting, saying farewell or waiting for someone. A change in a relationship or work. The station can also depict the ‘station’ you have reached, or are moving toward in life. So it might therefore be a situation you are in or trying to reach.

Bus Driver: The aspect of you in charge of where you are going  – is it fear, not taking responsibility, wanting to relax? Try using Being the Person or Thing to defined the character – or use Characters and People in Dreams.

Catching the bus or coach: This suggests a move toward getting to a goal you have, maybe with help from another part of you. A feeling of success that you are on your way and can relax now.

Missing the bus: This is to do with missing an opportunity. Not being ready to effectively be part of a relationship or situation. Sometimes problems or attitudes we have that stand in the way of being able to maintain a love relationship or take an opportunity that comes along.

Riding a bus to work: If you take a bus to work each day, then the bus can link with  your associations with your career and represent your general attitude and outlook about work, also those you work with, or things you do as a group.

School bus: This probably links with attitudes and behaviour you had as a school child; the lessons or reactions you developed or even the love, hate or pain you felt on such a bus.

Idioms: Miss the bus; big as a bus; take the bus/plane.

Useful Questions and Hints:

In what way is my life direction linked with others?

How much am I depending on others to help me get to my goal?

What have I missed out on through not being up to it?

Last evening I had a dream in which I entered what appeared to be a school bus, and as I was near the entrance/stairs that lead up to the main floor of the bus I had a sense that there had been a massacre/disturbing scene within the bus. Possibly people on the bus were slaughtered/murdered. It was as though without looking, I could sense and knew what the scene was (horrifying site), but I didn’t want to look so I kept my eyes away from the carnage. To avoid looking at a horrifying site. It was as though I felt what had happened without seeing. I didn’t want to look 🙁

– The main take away I felt fear and terror, and didn’t want to look at it. The terrifying site. I’m thinking there is something within me that I’m avoiding that took place during school age time (school bus). That I don’t want to face/took at. Actively avoiding.

Any insight?

Alex – We have several areas of activity that could have caused your terrible memory. Activity in the physical world, traumatic experience in our inner world; or something from our long past.

If it is something that happened that you physically witnessed, you may be able to recall it by using https://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson or https://dreamhawk.com/body-and-mind/approaches-to-liberation/#FirstSteps

Trauma in our inner world – you may need to understand this. We all have an inner world that is quite distinct from the outer world we encounter with our physical senses. Every thought you have, every emotion. Every belief you hold on to, every fantasy, dream or creative imagination is creating your inner world. It is creating it because it is every thought you think, every emotion you feel, because within yourself that is all you are. So every doubt you harbour is your world you live in inside you; every fear you meet is the way you cloud your own expressive energy.

“While exploring why I felt something was wrong with me, I experienced that I was attacked by two older youths who beat me up. I was left stunned and felt vulnerable.”

On helping the man, now in his forties, to explore the experience, he found it difficult because he kept looking for a memory of being attacked by two youths when he was 13. He even asked his father if he had any memory of it. But it gradually came to him that there was something he was hiding from himself. It was that at thirteen he had an experience that terrified him and led to him stopping any sexual flow for 8 years. As he realised this he wept as he saw how he had turned that enormous flow of energy back upon himself like an attack, an attack that destroyed the beauty of his proper youthful flowering. He remembered how, at the time he felt a great deal of anger, but it had turned inwards. Therefore he had dreamt of being beaten by youths.

So what were you facing on going to school that may have left such a mark on your inner life?

Our long past can also cause such memories to occur. Although most of your actions arise from your conscious personality, behind that lies the immense experience of the long past, so your mind that is unconscious gives you stature, breadth, and quality, like the body beneath the clothes of your personality.

No plant or creature grows from a dead seed, and each living seed carries within it all the past gathered from all its forebears. So, the seed in your mother’s womb is as old as and even older than human kind, and you carry that wisdom or memories in you. But in this life you developed a new brain, and the memories you gathered this time are what you built your personality from, but beneath that is a very ancient self.

Contacting that ancient self you need a different approach than you use in your every day life, for our ancient Self existed before ever creatures learn to speak, and so we have to allow direct experience rather that thoughts it words. Tony,

      Thanks for the response.

In the example you described of the man in his 40’s cutting off sexual feelings, that resonates very deeply. I’m in my late 20’s and those feelings have never been present while awake, only at times recently in my dreams did I feel true arousla but when they do arise I suppress them immediately with my body in my dream. As my peers went through puberty and developed in that area it was as though I wasn’t going through what they were going through in their “flowering”, I felt as though I couldn’t relate and felt very alienated. I didn’t develop in that area as my friends did in adolescence, I was basically shut down/non-sexual. I get the impression those feelings are still there, only locked away due to something.

I also am getting the sense that I’m hiding something from myself, though at the present moment I don’t know what I’m hiding though I think I’m moving closer towards it.

My question to you is, does the event/trauma have to be sexual abuse or can it be something non-sexual that blocked the flow of energy.

      Thanks,
      Alex

        -Tony Crisp 2018-06-08 10:41:39

Alex – The man in his forties was me; I get fed up with saying, “I did”, or “I was”.

So your description of your situation was one I knew well. It wasn’t caused by sexual abuse but by my mother screaming at me when I was thirteen that I would kill myself if I carried on masturbating. So the causes can be almost anything.

True later in life I realised why she felt I might kill myself – it was because at that time TB was rife, and several people I knew had the illness. My mother was terrified I had TB and she must have heard that those with TB often express extreme sexual activity – a sort of procreate before I die thing.

But added to that I had another side to the problem – to ejaculate left me feeling as if I had been left half dead.

It does seem as if you are hiding something from yourself and so lock your natural feelings away. I found that the reason many people are sick or ill is because there is a natural impulse to pull your hand away when you touch something hot. The same applies when we encounter difficult or painful feelings, people avoid them. Such avoidance is everywhere in the use of extreme alcohol, smoking, medical drugs and such.

It was desperation trying to find a way, other than medication and alcohol to deal with my depression and emotional pain. I got to the point I was ready to die if necessary, so the idea of facing pain didn’t bother me. But I was lucky because a friend started having LSD therapy sessions with R Laing – they were legal at the time, and he asked me if I would accompany him – sort of look after him on his journey home. Laing asked me if I would be interested in trying it. Having read the literature thoroughly because I had realised that it was like releasing the dream process while awake I said yes.

Having used dreams as a way to find healing for years, the session was an extraordinary burst of insight for me. I saw what was holding me and many people back – we were all trying so bloody hard, thinking and feeling, that the more effort and intellectual fervour we put into our search, or by religious intensity, we would get through our pain.

In the session I saw that by doing nothing but simply watching and allowing that I made amazing breakthroughs. Of course the session was like a tremendous dream, but because I had learnt to go beyond the symbolism by years of exploring dreams – not the intellectual fervour of interpreting them – I had found a way. It took me step by step to a normal life beyond suffering.

So I have tried to explain this in https://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/opening-to-life/

Ok I had a dream where the bus operator left his post. I took control of the bus but the brakes didn’t work

-Joanna 2016-03-07 9:15:17

Hello could you please help me to understand a dream I had last. I don’t usually dream so intensely so I feel this holds resonance. Last night also marks the 1 yr anniversary of my children and I leaving my partner. Our relationship while together was best described as toxic, although now we seem to get on as friends. The Dream: I’m riding a bus, I meet a native American man, strong, long plaited hair, one green eye, one blue. I get the impression he is a shaman as he lays me down on the seat. At first I’m embarrassed as there are people behind me, but this feeling quickly passes. It is not a sexual experience but a strong feeling of love flows through. He opens my mouth and begins breathing deeply into my lungs, I feel my body being pulled upwards in release. I’m completely satisfied my the whole experience. Can you help me as I feel there is a sense of guildance trying to be expressed. Thank you.

Dear Joanna – Dreaming of a shaman or medicine man shows you have pierced the bubble of the rational world we often live or are trapped by and have entered a more basic and extended world of ancient people.
It may express a world or a state of mind in which you find wisdom and healing.
What I see expressed in your dream is a form of healing or renewal; he breathes “Life” into you and because of that you “feel your body being pulled upwards in release”.
“Renewal requires opening yourself up to new ways of thinking and feeling” and this is part of your dream too.
You could explore what “Life” means to you and what “release”; what you would like to make room for and expand inside yourself and what you would like to let go off; http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/the-lifestream/
The whole experience as I see it is generated by allowing “a flow of Love”.
So you may want to explore what “Love” means to you; http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson
You may want to explore how you can completely feel satisfied on a level that is beyond the body and how you can make this experience manifest in your waking life.

I dreamed last night of riding in the front of a bus that was so crowded that I had to stand near the door. The seats were entirely full and I could not turn around – I faced forward to the front of the bus.

This dream came on the same day that a dear lifelong friend died, following hard on the heels of another death and news of a friend getting a terrible diagnosis of pending death.

I wonder if my dream can signify the bus taking us all to our final days, but I’m still standing near the front, so I’m not as close to death as others are. Frankly, I’ve been struggling with the issue of surviving as others I love die.

    -Anna - Tony's Assistant 2016-02-08 13:25:20

Dear Nanci – What you do not mention is what you think and how you feel while traveling in that crowded bus. Did it bother you in any way that there was no seat left for you to sit?
Did you feel comfortable with not being able to turn around?
What did you see while facing forward?
What were your thoughts and feelings in your dream about standing near the door?
Can you recognize any of these feelings in your waking life?

In my dream, there was I and a few of my colleagues chasing the staff bus to go home after close of work at dark. I managed to get on the bus but recall one of my colleagues didn’t and he was thinking, what excuse to give the office as we were actually not supposed to have been where ever we went. He waited on for a cab as the bus zoomed off.

    -Anna 2015-03-06 7:08:05

Star girl – I wonder if you are aware that “he” becomes “we” in your dream?
“he was thinking, what excuse to give the office as we were actually not supposed to have been where ever we went”
Are you a part of the “we” that is joining him (in thought) in the cab?
Your dream takes place in the dark, which means that whatever is going on in your inner world, you are not aware of it yet.
    See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/dark-drakness/
Perhaps you desire to spend time with him after work?
I believe “the office” in this dream is merely your inner authority which does not allow you your feelings, reason why your body gets on the bus and in thoughts you are with him: the “we” in the last part of your dream.
Perhaps you can enter your dream again while awake and “dream it over again” and this time allow yourself to feel what goes on inside you?

I was walking with friend of mine and I believe we were headed into the city because I needed to return an item I bought. We got to the bus stop and we saw children from my parents orphanage. My friend stopped and talked to them, I said hello but the bus came so we all ended up getting in. Everyone sat in the back, which was crowded, but I ended up standing closer to the front with my shopping bag. After a while, i feel a gentleman who I may have seen before on the bus, sat behind me. I was really curious because he was very good looking bi-racial man… he was wearing mostly white. I ended up sitting down, and we both kept trying to steal glances. Finally I hear him mumble something along the lines of ‘these people are dumb’ so I ask him who and he said his students. He tells me he’s a professor at a community college and was grading papers. I ask him to tell me one of the questions on the page and I can’t answer it but I wasn’t familiar with the subject and I really wanted justify why I didn’t know the answer. He ends up moving closer and we start having a good conversation and we’re talking about my philosophy on faith and how I believe in teachings of Jesus, but also believe that people should respect other faiths. There’s an older white gentleman who’s sitting close to us and can hear our conversation…he’s getting frustrated by our conversation he starts to interrupt, but I put my hand on his and say that this is our conversation and should respect it even if he doesn’t agree with us, and he ends up leaving. What becomes a huge distraction is that as the conversation continues, I feel like my teeth are going to fall of and I’m having a hard time using my mouth correctly and then I end up waking up with the fear about my teeth, but really energized by the conversation I was having.

-Naomi 2011-09-02 7:20:53

Great insight. For the last 4 years, I’ve dreamed about buses a lot… sometimes at least once a week. I always see a bus and think I need to get on it, but most of the time I never do. And when I do, I realize that the bus is not going where I want to go. The common thread is that I never get to whatever destination I’m trying to get to….

    -Tony Crisp 2011-09-27 10:00:27

Naomi – Sounds like you are someone who is tempted to go the direction everyone else goes, but you are really a radical individual and need to find your own way.

    Tony

-Margajoe 2011-06-20 5:43:23

Well that explains it.
I was wondering why I was having these dreams.
Being on a bus and just going on while others I love are getting off.
But, I found the answer.

Thank-you.
Regards Margajoe.

    -Tony Crisp 2011-06-28 11:56:05

Margajoe – Thanks for letting me know. Having look at the entry I see it was very small so have enlarged it now.

I would love to know what you worked out. It helps me to have clear ideas about people’s dreams they send.
