Eclipse

This can mean that something is either cutting of your source of energy – the sun – or else in an eclipse of the moon might suggest that something has come between you and your mother. Or else that you are becoming emotionally independent from her. Seeing that light in dreams usually equates to knowing, seeing or understanding clearly, any eclipse can mean a loss of clear knowing; and end of an eclsipse is inidciating a return or ability to really ‘see’ or the start of clear vision.

An eclipse of the sun in your dream can suggest that you are feeling overwhelmed by irrational impressions you are not used to having. Also that you might be feeling uncertainty about your life or direction. Perhaps you need to seek reasonable answers.

Darkness can also mean a positive experience that links your conscious mind with the huge darkness of our immense potential we hold within ourselves unconsciously. Part of this potential is an experience of going beyond opposites, of resolving paradoxes, of moving beyond the limitations of the rational mind and emotional responses.

Example: So I let go and fell into the darkness. I didn’t go to sleep though. Instead I fell into an awareness of immensity, of hugeness, and the immensity was full of knowing. Like a raindrop falling back into the ocean, I seemed to merge with that hugeness and yet maintain a sense of my own existence. And between the hugeness and my own sense of being there was communication.

The end of an eclipse signifies a new beginning. It can suggest an end to a period of darkness within or depression. A start of an eclipise might suggest you are feeling a decline of your mood, or a period of deepening inner experience. If it is felt as a decline look for the core self which is never influenced by changes of mood.

For a man an eclipse of the moon could mean losing contact with your own inner feminine self. See Archetype of the Anima

It is interesting that people who lost their nursemaids or carers in their 3rd year felt that the surrogate mother was obscured or eclipsed by the mother because of the feeling of loss.

Another interesting sign of eclipsing is seen in the development of the Ghost Dance among Native Americans. During an eclipse the tribe people felt great fear, and Wovoka – a Paiute – fell very ill and experienced a vision. When he arose he proclaimed that he had received a promise from God to renew the Earth, but demanding in return the acceptance of a moral code which stressed non-violence and the performance of the “Ghost Dance.”

The performance of the dance enabled the participants to encountering ancestors in their traditional settings within the trance. They experienced seeing the old campgrounds, playing the old games, eating the buffalo meat – all experiences which were lost during the reservation days. This brought them, once more in touch with their traditional culture, which would have been lost altogether had the breach with their inner world had not been restored through the Ghost Dance. So the eclipse was the loss of their inner culture.

Useful questions and hints:

Is there any diminising or growth of insight?

Do I sense a new beginning in my life?

Has anything been lost or gained in this period?

Can I see what was eclipsed in me?

I had a dream the other night and I was at my friend’s house in the dream.. It was day time and at some point I started to see UFO’s. Non threatening.. I was in no way scared.. then the sun was eclipsed to where you could see a Bright Ring around the Moon from the sun showing around the outside of the moon.. Then the eclipse Flashed like a strobe light about 4-5 times.. I think I remember more UFO’s coming in attached to the clouds.. again nothing threatening.. It was just very curious.. I was more in Wonder.. then I woke up wondering what the heck that meant.. My dreams don’t always stick with me.. but this one I can still remember and it’s been almost a week.

Love – You wonder what the heck your dream meant! But you must have realised that dream images are all symbolic, so represent something else, so they need translating. And maybe you realised that dreams deal with almost entirely your inner world of your mind, so what is a UFO? Is it something from a huge space which you know nothing about?

But perhaps you didn’t realise you have such a huge space within you that your dream was introducing you to. Or that no plant or creature grows from a dead seed, and each living seed carries within it all the past gathered from all its forebears. So, the seed in your mother’s womb is as old as and even older than human kind, and you carry that wisdom or memories in you. But in this life you developed a new brain, and the memories you gathered this time are what you built your personality from, but beneath that is a very ancient self. To explore it see https://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/opening-to-life/

So that ancient self you hold within you is the hugeness you hold inside you. Of course you felt wonder as you began to sense the mystery you are.

OK, I’ve been messing about with you explaining in the way I have, but I wanted to show you that with a little effort you can understand your amazing dreams. Especially if you try using https://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson and https://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/practical-techniques-for-understanding-your-dreams/

Yes I agree.. I feel like I have been tapping into my ancient self lately. I have been having a very enlightening period in my life. My mind has always been open, and lately the doors have been kicked down. 🙂 In a good way. The eclipse did not create darkness as much as the light was shining brightly around the ‘moon’ and then the Strobe of the light was one of the main aspects of the dream. The UFO’s seemed like they were there to help me kinda.. Maybe to enlighten me… but I good feeling from them.. kinda like I’m not alone in this…

Love – You sound like you are well on the way, and I often put comments not just for you but for the many people who read them.

So, R. D. Laing, the psychiatrist, in describing the search for ones fundamental self said, ‘The Life I am trying to grasp is the me that is trying to grasp it.’

One of the enlightenment sites listed has a heading, ‘What you are looking for is what is looking.’

Enlightenment is not a state of mind you can create or develop. It is something beyond any change, outside of anything you can develop. After all, development suggests change.

The frustrating thing about enlightenment is that the harder one tries to grasp it, the further away from it one gets. The more effort one makes in trying to achieve it, the less one finds of it.

It is the ever present, self existent core of yourself that remains when all else drops away.

So the question should not be can I develop the state of mind that is enlightenment, but how can I realise this fundamental state?

One of the enlightenment experiences someone describes was as follows:

“The many different paths to the one great ocean of Life can be summarised in a simple way because they all have a common factor. It, like dancing or meditating for extended periods, quietens your normal way of thinking and looking at the world. In a meditation seminar I attended that lasted for several days I observed this with great clarity. After three days of meditation for 17 hours a day, I saw my thinking mind faint. It could no longer sustain the continued concentrated pursuit of the question we were asking. In the moment of my rational thinking mind fainting there was an experience of divine Life knowing itself as this man people call B. In that state I knew connection with all the people around me, and the birds, trees and earth. For they and I shared the same spirit. I had arrived home at the source of things. I felt I was in the Garden of Eden, and that we had never left it. That experience, as ephemeral as it may sound, has given me something that strengthened me to pass through big life changes, and travel joyfully into old age.”

So it is about YOU without all the effort and thinking or struggle to ‘get there’. The question the man was pursuing which led to his mind fainting was, “Who are you?’

About not being alone, we all live by an immense ocean of coinsciosness. It is not a water filled ocean, though our dreams often use it to depict the massive ocean of consciousness or mind – the vastness of we are usually unaware of. But we are all like islands in this great ocean. Where the ocean meets the shore of our island is the limit of our senses and so we feel we are isolated and alone. But under the surface of the ocean – our unconscious – the land slips away into the depths and connects with all the other islands. So in fact we are never alone, but are unconscious of our connection with all life.

Last night I had a dream where I was leaving my childhood house during the day. When I walked out of the house, it was pitch black, there was a solar eclipse. I walked down the driveway, then down the street; I kept walking to the next street and there were lots of familiar faces along the road, just out and about during the eclipse. I moved onto a busier street and when the sun was beginning to come out, I saw my cat run across the street and almost got hit by a car. I ran across the street, calling her name and she came running to me. So I picked her up and brought her home.

    -Tony Crisp 2018-05-28 9:53:22

Elissa – Your dream suggests you are becoming more independent, leaving your childhood dependences/home. But at first you were wandering and found friends in similar situations. It might lead you to be uncertain at first because you are ‘in the dark’.

Then things become clearer for the sun was coming out. This led you to realise your feminine instinctive nature – the cat – was in danger, so take care for you are on your own now, independent of parents guidance. Living by your instincts/feelings is fine, except they may not be up to date and tuned into present technological life, se be careful. I had a dream that I gave birth to a baby girl during an eclipse. I am not pregnant, that I know of. The birth was painless and I watched the full eclipse through the window. And it was beautiful.

Hi – It is important that you read https://dreamhawk.com/forums/index.php?topic=529.msg1472#msg1472
Nothing can replace your own ability to understand your dream. With a little effort you can do this by practicing what is described in – http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson or http://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/getting-at-your-dreams-meaning/

    Tony

Brianna – Your dream shows your inner beauty, for you gave birth to a new aspect of yourself. For each of us are immersed in a ‘river’ of constant change. If you think about it you have been carried, pushed, impelled by this current as you were moved through babyhood, childhood, teenage and adulthood. And as we passed through these changes we died to our old self in order to change to the new. It is the current of Life. So there is always more of you to discover.

So the darkness of the eclipse can indicate a positive experience that links your conscious mind with the huge darkness of our immense potential we hold within ourselves unconsciously.

If it happens you are pregnant in your dream without any man being involved, then you have been made pregnant by the invisible power of Life itself within you. It is a creation of a part of you that is only now becoming real in your life. In other words a dream baby is a new birth of part of you that is emerging and needs to be cared for. Just as your teenage self emerged and needed understanding, so does this new you that is being born.

I had a dream last night, i saw a few people looking at the sky and when i look also i saw a two sun, sky was dark, color grey and cloudy. I tried to take a pic but i cant open my cellphone until the 2 suns disappear. After that , suddenly i saw a look like solar eclipse but im not sure if its moon block the sun or its moon block by something dark… Because the the light from behind is not so bright like the sun. . and the light is in first quarter

-Renata 2017-08-22 9:32:44

I too dreamed of an eclipse, the moon covering the sun, I also saw number letter formulae, but I saw the whole thing ,,I do t know, what it means, but I do t think it be good, only because there has been a long long cycle of bad luck and darkness, for the last 25 years, its to much to cope with,, and there are no experts to help, cos they can’t be trusted!!! Gotta do what u gotta do…!whatever that turns out to be ??

Hi – It would help you to understand your dreams, if you would read – http://dreamhawk.com/news/summing-up/ and also http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/features-found-on-site/ which has so much information in.

Nothing can replace your own ability to understand your dream. With a little effort you can do this by practising what is described in – http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson or http://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/getting-at-your-dreams-meaning/

Renata – While recognising dependence upon others, be firm in your goals and aid the unity of the assembly..
There is a need to recognise and support your relationship with the groups most important to you. This may refer to the family group, society, business, or a religious or political group.
If you are the central leading figure in the group, recognise the need for acting as a cohesive and uniting power. If your own nature is not itself united, this will be difficult. If you are not in the leading role, give support to whoever has this power.
Take care to provide for the unforeseen. Unexpected events are always the bringer of pain and difficulty. Therefore plan ahead. Offer what is in ones heart.
The situation has used up reserves and left dryness. The beauty and joy that existed are spent. Adverse conditions prevail. Beware. But even in the midst of adversity some people prosper. This can be done if the adversity does not break ones spirit, causing withdrawal into inactivity.
The trouble can bring to the surface treasures of personal strength in choosing the right track through the wilderness. Then, good fortune. But only through great effort and perseverance.
Do not waste words. There is no belief in those who hear and your words are not heeded.
Even in this dry time, attempting to find insight will lead to satisfaction. The perception needs to be one in which a real view of the situation is achieved and acted upon. The hidden difficulty needs to be brought to light and dealt with.
Oppression leads to spent energies. But gold can be mined if one does not lose heart. So do not lose heart!

Hello! There was a total solar eclipse today, and last night, I dreamed of one. It doesn’t necessarily feel negative, but all the interpretations I have seen suggest it is somewhat negative. It felt more symbolic, like the power of the eclipse had leaked it’s way into my dreams, it wasn’t at all a dark experience, and I witnessed the whole thing, from beginning to end (as I did today)

-Roy 2017-07-12 17:58:12

At day time 1to2pm i saw it.the eclipse i saw i feel solar.i was happy when the eclipse is releasing after its corona.i saw half corona and its just releasing what its indicate? Can anyone tell me i am worried.

-Mari M 2015-06-27 8:45:07

I had a dream about an eclipse the night before tonight. However, I don’t remember whether it was the moon covering the sun or the other way around. Lol!! Bummer. A little bit of interpretation still helps, though.
