Hi ToBeAware - I take your comments, but would like to say that even dreams ages ago can still relate to a present situation. About 40 years ago I helped a young woman explore a dream she had 18 years before. When she came to its meaning she said that in fact it was very much about the present, in that the present arose out of the past, and so was the creator of the present.

That is not to say my comments for you were on the mark.

Rats can sometimes depict a love that was betrayed, or intuitions about a person being a ‘rat’ - doing things behind your back or underhandedly - or deserting a relationship when difficulties arise.

Just thinking aloud.

Dream Interpretation / Re: Can't figure out what this dream means
« on: March 08, 2011, 10:16:22 AM »
JustMe – There are several themes going on in your dream. One is that you are trying to make a comfortable place to be for yourself, and it is frustrated.

Another is that you are finding it difficult to be satisfied with your work.

You get acclaim but you do not like what you see.

There is a feeling that your father was critical of you at some time, and this is still a strong influence about the way you see and criticise yourself.

The haemorrhoids are often a sign of internal tension.

It seems that in the dream you move on quite often because other people take what is your space or you are unsatisfied, and it sounds like there is a passive side to you that allows this. So please read the entry http://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/active-passive/

I quote the following not because it is directly about you. “Sometimes this social indoctrination may lead to such a burden of guilt and suppression that it can create psychic cripples. Trying to do all the ‘right’ things may lead us to the point where ‘we can’t say no to a glass of water without a pang of guilt.’”

So I wonder if there is any information in the following for you: http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/archetype-of-the-female-choice/

But it certainly would suggest you changing the scenes in your dream to ones that will make you feel more satisfied. This is not always easy as we usually have reasons behind our choice. I had a dream years ago about crashing my car, and was pleased about it. When I explored the dream I found that I wanted to destroy my ability to work, because then I would never amount to anything. And that would be a kick in the teeth for my mother. The car represented my drive/impulse to work.

So you could use the technique described here: Imagine yourself in the dream and continue it as a fantasy or daydream. Alter the dream in any way that satisfies. Experiment with it, play with it, until you find a fuller sense of self expression. It is very important to note whether any anger or hostility is in the dream but not fully expressed. If so, let yourself imagine a full expression of the anger. It may be that as this is practised more anger is openly expressed in subsequent dreams. This is healthy, allowing such feelings to be vented and redirected into satisfying ways, individually and socially. In doing this do not ignore any feelings of resistance, pleasure or anxiety. Satisfaction occurs only as we learn to acknowledge and integrate resistances and anxieties into what we express. This is a very important step. It gradually changes those of our habits which trap us in lack of satisfaction, poor creativity or inability to resolve problems.

Dream Interpretation / Re: The Light that Shines
« on: March 07, 2011, 01:33:40 PM »
Waves – This is an extraordinary dream. The reason I say that is because you must have worked through a lot of mental clutter to dream so clearly. It seems obvious to me that you have seen through the enormous sham the church puts on, and have got back to what I call the Mother Church or a realisation of Life.

The dream says that you have let the whole structure of social religion crumble, and to get to that you must have gone on a long search and tried many things. Then when it all fell away you actually found what it was all about, without priests, and all the hierarchy built around religions. Then seeing the folly of it and the ruin, you did not become bitter and say it was all illusion, and we nothing but fodder for death, but searched on till you found the Light the Light that lights everyone. That was what the early Christians were willing to die for – not simply a superstitious belief, overseen by authority figures. As you say, “For it shone on all without exception, and each of us, as we were permeated by that divine light, were transformed in some way by it.”

Everybody has this light within them. It doesn’t have to be earned, or we do not have to do wonderful things or be very ‘spiritual’ to get it. We are all born with it. But mostly we cover it up, deny it, or avoid it. It is all explained in the New Testament.

The following is a quote from Yield.

Quote
This forgotten, and often rejected part of us, calls to us from every corner of our world - ‘Say, don’t you remember, they called me Al, it was Al all the time. Say, don’t you remember, I’m your pal, Buddy, can you spare a dime?

“Then began he to curse and to swear, saying ‘I know not the man’. And immediately the cock crowed. And Peter remembered the word of Jesus/Life, which said unto him, ‘Before the cock will crow thou shalt deny me thrice’. And he went out and wept bitterly.”

Do you dare to remember how many times you have denied your deepest love, your deepest wisdom, or the very power of Life in you? Peter’s bitter tears are nothing to ours. His denial was only three times, ours is often every day and all our lives. And when the morning of realisation is upon us, how may we weep?

Just-Me – It seems to me that you desperately want to get past barriers. And although it is the strawberries you say you want, when get to them you leave them and go on another journey to cross hurdles.

So perhaps you simply want to get past things in you way? But then you cannot make eye contact. I believe when we do that it is because we believe what we are saying or presenting or ourselves as the truth, but we know deep within that we are fooling ourselves and there is a deeper truth we are not admitting.

So when you look at that pre-teen girl in the eye, what do you feel? What do you realise about yourself. I think it could be very revealing. I guess that this feeling that you are covering up started at the time of your pre-teens, and that is why you are walking with her in silence.

The important building you see your boyfriend walking up to is probably an opportunity that can happen when you have walked long enough with the young girl. Then you will realise that you have left many of the skills and social ability behind, locked in the thing you couldn’t admit to. In fact I wonder if it is the hurry to get past the hurdles that is behind this.

Annuabhi – I think you are struggling with a fear of death – or the fear of someone dying.

I say that because a black horse and black dog are often representing news of death.

But the way the animals are behaving is strange, as if they want you to see them plunge to their death – except in dreams there is no death – so that is why I feel it is fear about death.

You know, if you loved those animals it could make a difference about the way you feel about yourself.

DamagedWoman – The huge wave is a sign of tremendous changes coming. How long is not certain, but as everyone was rushing to get into your secret room, it seems as if it will not be long. But sometimes it takes a while, maybe months or so.

The wave is also a sign of nature itself being instrumental in the change that is coming, though I doubt that it will be an actual flood or massive wave; more like difficult times producing social change.

The ocean is the source of life and all its events, so it seems as if this might be a great thing in your life – and as I have many reports from people sending in similar dreams, I feel it is not just you who will be affected.

The last part of the dream I am not sure of. It certainly seems that after the change you will not be threatened by your husband. It is as if he and your son are no longer an important part of the dream, but I do not have any feeling that they are therefore no longer in your life. I feel that because, as you saw the wave coming and you held your husband and your son, you prayed.

ToBeAware – I am not sure how this relates to your work situation, but it is fairly clear that you have been hurt. And the hurt is in the stomach area, and this usually relates to public attack to your vulnerability.

The kitten, well, there is an even more vulnerable you that was not, I guess, not having enough close contact with your mother. The boxwall situation suggests that you both wanted this but couldn’t manage it. And the male could be unwanted sexual attention, or the attack you felt mentioned above.

Dream Interpretation / Re: meaning of my dream- of my dying
« on: March 01, 2011, 10:31:51 AM »
Rebecca – I don’t see your dream saying you are going to die soon, but the dream is certainly getting you ready for it. It seems to be a mixture of you getting the feel for dying – a sort of practice run – and also wondering how you are going to handle it.

You do not need to worry about your grandson not understanding. Children have ways of knowing that grown ups lose with all our thinking. So I would think it is a good idea to talk about death to him like a natural thing, which it is. Yesterday I wrote to someone using the analogy of a plant flowering. And if we use that image we can see the whole cycle. The plant grows and does different things as different times. The flowering is only one part of its growth, and as with us our beautiful flower doesn’t last long. But there are other things the plant does after that. It produces seeds and slowly draws back its essence – and that essence passes on.

I think it might help if you read the little book by Elizabeth Kubler Ross called Life After Death. It is not a fairy tale type book about dying, but is based on her research.

Sometimes the dying dream such as yours is a sort of wake up call telling us what we need or want to do before we are ready to let go of our body.

Dream Interpretation / Re: Hands cut off, buckled weddingrings
« on: February 28, 2011, 02:03:14 PM »
ToBeAware - Sorry, I didn't give time to the hands.

From what you say, the hands all show - shaped calm lame, but not bloody. And from this I would think that hands are  the most frequently dreamt of part of body.

As hands depict how you express yourself in action or relationships; your grasp of life, of ideas, of opportunities, it suggests a loss of power to do what is in you to do. Whether that is the way you hold on to – or let go of - people, your children, situations – this is why people are handcuffed to take away their power.

So it is worth asking yourself these questions:

What is it I am not doing with the hands or fingers – is it creative, destructive, giving taking, etc?
What feeling, thoughts or attitude am I expressing with the hands in this dream?
What descriptive words are linked with my dream hand(s) – strong, big, hurt, small – and what does that say about what I am doing or not doing?

Dream Interpretation / Re: Recurring dreams of cancer
« on: February 28, 2011, 01:53:36 PM »
Mesh - Cancer in a dream can mean many things other than the illness of cancer. But such dreams can sometimes be an early warning sign. If so it is worth having a medical check to see if there are any signs of it.

But I feel the dreams are about something else. There are two major links with dreaming of cancer. The first is that many people meet cancer in their dream because it represents death. So the dream is a way of experiencing your fears about death.

The second is that cancer depicts parts of ones emotional or thinking character that are sick and/or unhealthy. With these dreams you need to consider what part of the body you dream has cancer, then understand it psychological meaning. So see parts of the body indicated.

Occasionally the dream is an expression of how we feel about other people’s - especially our mother’s - emotional influence on us. This influence might be eating away at our own sense of well being. Or in some cases we sense it in the social attitudes we live amidst that is likewise eating away at our own health and wholeness.

Dream Interpretation / Re: Dreams about suicide and death
« on: February 28, 2011, 01:35:00 PM »
Nskorth – This is obviously about all the different feelings you are struggling with in regard to your husband. Even the hurt that your three year old suffered could suggest that your vulnerable feelings, shown as your son, has been hurt.

You have thoughts about other men because you are finding your present relationship painful to bear. And you have a conflict over this, so in our dreams sometimes we see the person who we wish was out of our life die – commit suicide. May be he couldn’t quite get out of your life in your dream because you still feel responsible. In a way that dreams have, his loss of face and his pain are also the pain that you feel because it has left you not knowing who you are and what to do.

I do not know if this will work, but sit and imagine a shinning person, a good a beautiful image, and ask it for help to find your way through this. Then sit in quietness and wait for a minute.

Dream Interpretation / Re: dream of a loved one
« on: February 28, 2011, 01:15:56 PM »
Laura – Well, take what I say with reserve.

This is because the dream appears to suggest that your sister in law is following your dead friend. In other words she could die.

But as I have said to others, it doesn’t mean it will come about. Things can be changed by the good will and loving thoughts of others and the person themselves. So ask for help for your sister in law. Visualise her surviving any near brushes with death, and ask for help from whatever you believe in that has power.

I am holding a wonderful umbrella - huge like a parasol. It is to shield others from harm.

Dream Interpretation / Re: Antiques in a hidden house
« on: February 28, 2011, 12:53:51 PM »
Tamsyn – That is a wonderful dream. The grandparents are the sign of its meaning. That they have access to all the rooms is important. They are important because grandparents are the doorway to all your past.

I believe that what you are meeting is memories or your ancestors – both family ancestry and past lives. There is so much you have collected from your past that are gifts, talents, problems and real insights into how you have come to be the person you are.

It is quite unusual for someone to have such dreams. If you look as most of the dreams people post, they are about being frighten of things, of love that is lost or wanted, or general worry dreams. So to see so clearly your own history is excellent.

I believe that the reason you have not yet stopped to really look at all the rooms and stuff they hold is because it is quite difficult to bear the awareness of it all. Sometimes it is wonderful, but sometimes you retrieve painful episodes that need you – your present personality – to feel and heal. So it seems you will slowly gain strength and then have insights into things so remarkable it will change you.

If you can practice imagining yourself back into one of the rooms and be still and watch what you feel, it will be good to develop your strength and insight. Don’t expect wonderful things to come fast and furious, because such ‘openings’ are rare and precious.

There are places I have walked that will place me by your side.

Dream Interpretation / Re: White Horse and an Alligator
« on: February 24, 2011, 11:28:02 AM »
KyleeBEE – I believe the core of the dream meaning is revealed in what you say about the horse that “passed away over a year ago.”

The alligator often represents a hidden form of treachery, apparently harmless until it opens its mouth to eat us. As such it can be an attack from within from repressed emotions. In your dream it certainly depicts fear of death – a death that can snatch away something you loved.

But in your dream you have symbols of wonderful opposites. The white horse and the purple blanket are expressions of the wonderful contact wit Life that if allowed to live within us can be an experience of transformation.

The almost black alligator is not only death, but death of a special kind. It may well represent what we feel when we confront the collective unconscious. This is an experience of your personal awareness being intimately linked with others, living and dead. It can swallow you because it is so huge, so seems like death, but in fact is an entrance to a new life. See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/collective-unconscious/

So I think you should not be afraid of the alligator, but see what becomes of them by not feeling afraid of death.

BigFreeze – This sounds very much like your inner computer and fears are working to test out ways of surviving. But in a way you are not being very creative and all you are doing is reliving in your dream what you fear would happen if a tsunami of massive size hit.

I see that we each have a very different path, and some people in the most awful of situations manage to survive, and other in much better situations do not manage. Also it is worth getting information about how to survive in such a experience. Every little thing can help – luck, help from others, knowing some small thing that could make survival possible, etc.

Don’t let fears be your guide though.
