A Jeweled Snail - No Shell

I dreamt that a very large snail was on the floor near my feet.  It was without and shell and brightly colored. Jeweled, actually, with large, blue gems.  It undulated on the floor and while I didn't feel particularly scared I didn't want any contact with it, either.  In my dream it swayed too close to me and I jumped back - - - unfortunately I did, in reality, "jump" back, too . . and fell right off the bed. 

What on earth could this dream mean?

MonkeyShines - A fascinating dream/action - the jumping out of bed. 

We all have slimy parts of us - our body is the whole works - and you are avoiding contact with it, or at least you are very cautious.  But the dream is showing that not only are you now without the usually protective shell we put around certain feelings, leaving you vulnerable, but the basic primitive part of you is shown as beautiful. The blue gems in fact say it is holy or of real importance.
