Title: Experiencing pain after dreaming
Post by: Dreamlover on September 13, 2013, 01:07:41 PM
Hi Tony,

The dream I had last night has left me somewhat worried not only because of what I dreamt but also what I felt after waking up.

I cannot remember much of the situation but only that I was in an open area which looked a lot like my old school kindergarten section. However, I was not a child in the dream. I was wearing a light green skirt and top which was more of a smart attire than casual. I remember there was another young girl of around my age who was also wearing a similar dress which was also green but of a different shade. It was also light in colour. There was some sort of an argument in my dream with this girl and some other guy whom I do not remember very clearly and myself. I cannot remember what the argument was about either but it was suddenly interrupted when I started experiencing pain in my finger. I remember looking down and seeing two pins (the ones with a bead on top used for pinning garments) which were also having green beads of a darker green and these were pierced into the corner of my left pinky finger and pinned to the dress.

The feeling of pain was so severe that I woke up from the dream and I felt the pain in my finger. The pain continued and was quite severe that it disturbed me as to why I should feel pain from my dream when awake. It went on for a little while and my husband woke up at that moment. I explained the dream to him and said my finger really hurts and I'm sure that it must be really injured. We switched on the lights and looked at it but there was nothing visible. After sometime I went back to sleep again but didn't have any dreams again.

What my husband told me was that the pain was all in my mind and that it wasn't real. I do have my doubts about this because the pain was too severe to be imagined but there are no marks visible so it cannot be true either.

A few points that I noted about this particular dream was that it happened in broad daylight which is very rare with the dreams that I have. I also do not usually wear skirts and which was a bit strange to dream of me dressed in one, but the dress was quite nice looking. I also very rarely buy clothes which are green in colour and this struck me as a bit odd in the dream.

I would much appreciate your thoughts on this dream and the pain I experienced.

Thanks

DreamLover – In the first place mental (psychosomatic pain) is just as real and can kill you. So saying it is all in the mind is like saying. “You are making it up – go back to sleep.” See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/emotions/

The opening scenes of dreams usually give a clue to what the dream is about. In your case it was a return to a kindergarten state of mind, or even a memory of something that was hurtful. Yet the green skirt suggests it is linked with growth or growing pains to do with your sexual feelings.

Then you experience a conflict about this – the argument – and so I suggest you look back into your memories to see if you have felt a disagreement about your relationship with your husband – or any memories dating from kindergarten age.
