Title: memory/dream
Post by: alisoni on March 08, 2011, 07:34:27 AM
I used to think that the earliest memory that I could remember was me swimming to the bottom of a swimming pool and seeing a snail at the bottom. But then later on in life I realized that this could in no way be a memory because as a very small child I could not have swam to the bottom of a deep pool all by myself. The scene in my head is very vivid, and I suppose this could be a dream I had a long time ago. I am just a bit confused and curious as to the meaning of all this?

Alisoni – This can often happen to a child. A dream is very real to a child, and so it cannot see the difference between waking and dreaming.

It is difficult to know what associations you had with a snail, one that I had was that at the slightest touch it would withdraw.

But your dream seems to be one of exploration – one to see what it is like at the depths of a pool. And that means you were looking into the workings of your body, under the surface. And a snail could easily depict the subtle sensitivity within you.
