Title: struck between the eyes, laughing and surname
Post by: Erebos on March 17, 2014, 08:09:37 AM
Hi,

I don't remember lots of this dream, but one of the parts that caught my attention was this:

I was with Stephan Ackermann (the lead singer of, Das Ich (German for "the I" or "Ego") and at some point this little object (I don't know/remember what it was, but it was a sort of golden, brassy kind of color) struck him right between the eyes. Not only that, but it stuck there. He and I both started laughing really hard and I thought the words "crack up" in my dream mind, because that's what we were doing, cracking up. I can't remember if anyone else was laughing. I look at a sign on a wall (the wall is a normal, white wall like you would see in most any building or house; the sign was white and rectangle shaped). The sign said, "Surname" on it.

Erebos - I feel there are a lot of personal feelings and associations that I am not aware of that in connection with Stephan Ackerman  and Das Ich that would help with understanding this dream.

I guess it has to do with darkness and the loss of ego or oneself - cracking up. In the Western mind darkness links with death, and death means the end of self. The strange thing is that from a wider view that is true - but truth can be obscured by not seeing far enough into the darkness.

The darkness actually mean in today's language lose of personal or I consciousness - in other words the unconscious as experienced in sleep. It also means in many peoples mind death. But that brings us to being hit between the eyes. I take it from your IP address that you live in the US, and probably the meaning is for that sentence “if something hits someone between the eyes, it shocks them.” I would think it was also a wake up call, especially if the thing stuck there was golden, something valuable in oneself.

The cracking up with the pleasure of laughter sounds as if you enjoyed it.

The surname on the wall is a hard one and I am guessing. A surname is more that a first name like John, it is a family name, often with a long history. It carries memories of family traits with all we inherited from them. So I wonder whether it is again the polar opposites, the ying and yang of you. A reminder that as you touch the wider you, you are also the person here and now. See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/the-conjuring-trick/
