Title: Someone's Suicide
Post by: karolvaldeb on April 10, 2014, 12:11:10 PM
Hi Tony,

I had a very strange dream, again.

I was next to a swimming pool, watching an Asian girl who was doing outstanding high dives.  She did one in front of me, but the second was chaotic... apparently, she jumped onto the floor from the heights, not into the pool as I was expecting!!  When I saw that happened, I didn't stand up... I was kind of surprised, and someone right beside me told me to go and see, maybe to help... I remember I stood up walking towards the girl, but I don't remember anything else after standing up.

What do you think about this one?

Thanks for your help!

Karol - Nothing or nobody can be actually hurt in dreams. The same happens with horror films; nobody is hurt and the things do not actually happen; but of course you can be frightened out of your wits. Dr. Claire Weeks in her book about Self Help for your Nerves (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Self-Help-Your-Nerves-overcoming/dp/0722531559/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1397376120&sr=1-1&keywords=Claire+Weekes) says, “I would say that it is at the moment a sensitized person becomes afraid of the sensations produces by the severe stress so places themselves in the cycle of fear-adrenalin- fear.” In other words it is the fear the person doesn’t face well that is the real cause if the illness.

In your dream there is a different story. The Asian girl represent part of your own potential from you inner resources. She is Asian because we associate a certain mystery and wisdom with the Eastern people. She dives from a high board showing you that she can take changes and face danger. She does this once but demonstrates something different the second dive - she fails.

She is demonstrating to you that any new venture you undertake will certainly face you with fear of failure or even failure. But learning from failure is actually the steps to success.

Example: I was at a very large school. Looking around I came to a large gymnasium. Near the end where I stood was a diving board, about 20ft. off the ground. Girls were learning to dive off the board and land flat on their back on the floor. If they landed flat they didn't hurt themselves - like falling backwards standing up.

The dreamer says, “I was sure they would hurt themselves and it was difficult to watch. The girls are in fact taking a risk, but learning to do so in a way that does not damage them. This becomes clearer when I realised that I had recently changed from being an employee to becoming self-employed. I was feeling a lot of anxiety about where my next week’s income was coming from, and how long he could last living in this new way. I felt that the diving board was the big jump I was taking into the unknown. I was afraid I was going to land ‘flat on my back’. I sat and relaxed, imagining myself back in his dream; I had an urge to climb up on the board as one of the girls and dive off. As I did this I felt the full flow of my anxiety. Even so I managed to land on my back on the bare floor. After running through this a number of times I opened my eyes and smiled.” He said, ‘It’s just a feeling. Anxiety, I mean. It’s just a feeling. When I dive off that board I feel anxious. But when I repeat it over and over I start to recognise that it is like a tape playing. The feeling doesn’t actually do me any harm, it’s just something that plays in certain situations.”

Des continued in his self-employment, with gradually lessening anxiety, and is still self-employed years later.

So your not standing up was an avoiding of involvement in the exterior world of change, opposites, and needs that require expenditure of effort, or being involved or active in the world or with others. Also what is your ‘standing’ in society; what one ‘stands’ for; being active; confrontation; co-operation with others.

So when you stood up your were willing to face the difficult feelings involved in leading a full life. I salute you. See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/questions-2/#Summing

Wow Tony, impressive, so useful to read your reply!

It makes a lot of sense when I read your interpretation and its connotation in my life.  You know?  It makes me feel very well reading it in a moment when I feel more calmed about those anxieties you mention, though they are still around as part of everydayness.

Many thanks for your help, it's been reallly good.

Karol.
