Title: Time and Dreams
Post by: Kecia on May 27, 2014, 05:34:08 PM
How can I tell if my dream is about something in my past that needs attention, something developing in the present, or images, perhaps, meant to inspire or instruct?

Sometimes, I think I know.  For example, I recently had a dream that featured a tower in ruins and a dilapidated railway.  I felt these were about my past attitudes.  Other times, I have a dream that provides a sense of spiritual awakening like when I dreamed of the elating and inspiring flight of pure white cranes.  In that case, is it a hope only?   While I rationally and consciously adhere to conventions of Time, I believe Time is relative in the quantum sense for the Unconscious.  I have read the article about Time and Dreams,  http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/time-and-dreams/ (http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/time-and-dreams/), but I am wondering if there is anything about the context, contents or quality of a dream that might help me orienteer.  How should I look at Time in a dream?

I will share how I approach it - maybe it can provide food for thought. To me,my dreams,on one level, show what my psyche is drawn to/interested in. So,looked at it from that vantage point, trails, wispy threads of connection can easily arise between the present and the past. In my life at least, certain themes repeat,in variations, but still repeat. If a dream at first glance seems to speak to my present life,in some form, but once I sit with it for a while associations with the past arise, then I take that to mean it touches on both - spreading out from my present point of interest and connecting into the past (or future). If the associations mostly seem to connect with my past then I follow them there, but obviously engaging with them from the present and how they manifest now. Hope this makes sense. :)

Simply read http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/lifes-little-secrets/

Also I honestly believe dreams are not worth thinking about because dreams are from a deep part of you that tries to communicate through associations. See http://dreamhawk.com/inner-life/clicking-on/ - http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/association-of-ideas-with-dreams/#Working

You will only know what dreams are about by diving into your unconscious where dreams are created. See http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/questions-2/#Arising
