Title: Intrusion of the mind
Post by: Sunchaser on October 06, 2014, 07:10:48 AM
Hi

Been a while since my last post, but last night's dream was to odd for me to let go.

I remember being taken to a youth house of sorts. I can't remember for what reason, but I were to spend some time there. One or more people convinced me to sleep, in a manner that I would imagine hypnosis would work.
I stayed there for a while, making friends with other teenagers. The man running the house would probe my mind in a casual way. Questions about me and others.
One night at the house the man that ran the house brought me a new computer, top of the line tech. I knew it to be a ploy to soften my resolve, so later in the evening when it was time for sleep he returned. He started asking me questions again, I felt like my mind was divided into consciousness and unconsciousness. It literally felt like an intruder in my mind, one that in some way had slipped in his act. And now I could fully perceive him.
At that point I felt I had to escape, and the only way was for me to fall asleep. So in my dream I forced myself to sleep. I could sense the man's anger as I left his grasp.

Finally free of whatever was holding me, I managed to wake up. I felt scared because it felt like someone had been in my mind. I would like to point out that I am no longer a teenager, far from it. But computers was my main interest when I was one.

Odd dream indeed.

SunChaser - Wow! A dream theme I haven’t heard before, and interesting

There are two possible ways of looking at this, and I will look at the most obvious first. I am not sure why it started in a youthful setting, unless you ere interested in the mind in your early years. But the rest is fairly clear.

The man running the house seems to be a powerful action in you that is interested in deepening your understanding and insight into your consciousness - into you. The interest may have started in your youth, but has now become more important. What you perceived was an action that brought the beginnings of awareness of your unconscious, and the action was shown as the man.

Such growing awareness is often felt as a foreign agent acting on you - your personality - because what we call ourselves/me/I is just a tiny part of us. So any interference with our self image can feel a threat. Please read http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/autonomous-complex/ and the next piece read on to where it mentions our reaction to the unconscious http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/what-we-need-to-remember-about-us-3/#Important

I feel that is what your dream is about, but there is a slight chance that someone put thoughts or feelings into you in a subtle way while you were young and you are becoming aware of them now. If that is so try being the guy in charge and see what you feel.

This might be understandable because some years ago I had an experiences that I feel might explain your dream. Once was while in Australia after meeting and talking with my wife to her brother in-laws brother; a little while after I felt as if something had poisoned my mind in some way. Because I can delve into my unconscious I investigated the cause and found that the man had subtly suggested things to put me down, and the reason was he wanted to sleep with my wife. When we saw him again he immediately started saying things in an attempt to make me appear stupid.

Another time I felt I was literally going mad and even though I never drink alcohol I wanted to get drunk. But instead I drove out onto the moors and once more dived into myself. I went through – figuratively – every room of myself, and it all looked healthy. So then I asked what was causing the fuss and immediately was shown that my mother in law, who was staying with us had been saying things behind my back, suggesting that my wife get rid of me and then she and my wife could run the place.

When I got home my wife was out and then came back, so I asked her whether her mother had said something, and my wife admitted that in fact her mother wanted me out and wanted to run the place.

Sunchaser - I like to add something to Tony's wonderful answer.

I saw in a former post that you had written this:

I greatly appreciate the time you gave looking into my mind so to speak.

I hope I can visit this place of wonder again, for its allure does not give in.

I wonder if this dream "Intrusion of the mind" was an "answer to what you were hoping for",
because what you hoped for served a deeper purpose?

Again thank you Tony, the related links proved insightful!

@anna

I would have to say no. This was a "beast" of an entirely different kind. Where the stone face of the woman felt benevolent, even though frightening. The man in this dream had an aura of evil around him. To the point where it felt like you could smell it.

Sunchaser - I am not sure if you understood me, and so I will try again, for I am not sure if I was clear myself on this yet.
I hope that is okay with you.

When I write about my journey, I have learned that I perceive my writing oft as writing to Tony outside of me.
Like you wrote to "the Tony outside of you":

I greatly appreciate the time you gave looking into my mind so to speak.

I hope I can visit this place of wonder again, for its allure does not give in.

Then some part of you - the Tony inside of you - saw that as an invitation which led to the dream about the man probing your mind, or looking into your mind.

Either way, there was something positive about this inner, still unconscious decision towards this dream, and for that I will have to use Tony's answer, for looking into dreams is his strength.

Either the man in your dream brought you to this point:
Quote
The man running the house seems to be a powerful action in you that is interested in deepening your understanding and insight into your consciousness - into you.

or he brought you to this point:
Quote
but there is a slight chance that someone put thoughts or feelings into you in a subtle way while you were young and you are becoming aware of them now. If that is so try being the guy in charge and see what you feel.

And so I would say in your dream he cannot be "a beast" for he had something to offer you.

Just my thoughts.
