Title: Was it a dream? Weird experience!
Post by: Midlander on August 04, 2011, 11:19:00 AM
Last night, in dream state (of some sort) I was watching a woman. It was a calm, peaceful observation. She was overweight and wearing a nurse's uniform, I think. She was working on a laptop; she couldn't see me. She was seated at a small table, the lights were dimmed, it was night time. As I watched, suddenly I felt all the power go out - not just in the dream room but completely. It was as though I was having an avatar, inception or matrix type of experience and someone had pulled the plug out. I had the sense of being in danger and needing to get out fast. I woke up.

I am left with the profundity of the experience. My first feeling on waking was that someone may have died but that was superceded with the sense of having a nemesis.  Now I'm not so sure about the meaning of this experience.

Any ideas, Tony?

Eta that I meditated to deal with the residual feelings and when I reached stillness, experienced the view of running through corridors and then up long, long flights of stairs until I reached an opening - like a cloud or flesh of some sort and exited. Then I found myself back in the realm of eyes looking at me as I frequently do in meditation.

Thanks!

Midlander - I see you are now a Junior Member – well deserved.

I have a sense that this is a carry on of your last dream with the invisible being, and it is therefore a big step. In effect it seems to be an initiation into a new dimension of experience, and new dimensions can be scary until you realise they are not meant to swallow you,

The power going out of you is fairly typical of the switch over from what I will need to describe fairly fully.

•  While we sleep our conscious self is largely or totally unconscious, and while we sleep our voluntary muscles are paralysed – so another will or motivating force moves our body. So we have a Conscious Will, and what I will call a Life Will. The first one we have experience of as we can move our arm or speak; but the second will takes over when we sleep or when we relinquish conscious control.
•  This Life will can move us to speak, to move our body, and in fact do things that we cannot do with our Conscious Will. As Freud pointed out this inner will has full access to our memories. It can do so many other things that are described else where – See ESP in Dreams; Edgar Cayce.
•  This Life Will or motivator has been active for millions of years and we see it working all the time in animals. We are partly split in half because we are often opposed to what our Life Will in us wants. So the only way to express what is good for us is in dreams when our conscious will is largely passive. And this often feels threatening as something else takes over – except that the ‘something’ else is our own bigger self.
•  Life Will created your body and pre-existed you as a person you know today. It was working in you prior to your ability to speak or know in the way you do now. But of course it has fantastic wisdom and skills, as can be seen in animals.
•  Life, if you look around you at Life’s creature, can take any form. So Life itself is without form. In fact the recent advances in quantum physics suggest that what gives us existence is beyond space and time – beyond understanding.

So it is probably that you felt was pulling the plug – as in Matrix. It is very new for most of us because really we feel we are in control, whereas if the Life Will stopped supporting us we would blink out. But in fact Life is usually very careful with us because our conscious self is very new and fragile – just look around you at the numbers of people who cannot function well and need alcohol, drugs, anti depressants, expression of rage, to exist. So the Life will only takes over when we begin to trust something more powerful than our personality to enter our experiences. That is why we need to sleep so often because the Life Will does what is needed ‘out of sight’.

I also feel that enormous changes are taking place in the world and so such sudden changes in what you experienced are a part of it. After all we are all connected with Life on this planet and beyond.

I hope that makes sense.

Western science has in the past painted a picture for us that suggested nature and the universe is one vast impersonal and almost mechanical process. When you travel beyond the frontier of your own personality and contact the life that gives you existence, a completely different viewpoint emerges. What you find is the mysterious love that leads a crocodile mother to carry her babies in her mouth unharmed. You discover the wonder that drives birds to fly hundreds or thousands of miles to an exact location to mate again with their dedicated partner. You meet the indescribable beauty that lies behind a flower’s miracle of colour and intricacy. You meet the creative impulse of the universe that has woven your being throughout eternity. You exist beyond Time and Space.

Thanks so much Tony! That really helps! It makes absolute sense and the fact that you can understand what it's like is really reassuring.

This certainly resonnates with my spirituality! I am weary of the arrogance that assumes human beings are the centre of the universe, rather than a part of the whole!

Yes! I sometimes really feel I am me and 'more than me' - that the 'greater' me is experiencing life in this dimension through this body which is me but not 'eternal me'. There was a time when I felt that I was 'hiding' in this world...

The existence beyond Time and Space -
I find it really interesting that people often forget that eternity isn't simply in the future!

This helps because I was wondering whether it was the plug pulling of avatar which would have felt negative and dangerous.

I am certainly encountering more and more people who are having experiences of one sort or another that makes me feel things are very much changing.

Let us carry on carrying on, supporting each other as we stumble along.

Yes! That's what this experience is all about, isn't it?

Hi Tony,
I had another experience a couple of nights ago that feels akin to this one! For a while, I tried to grasp what it was that made this dream so different and then I realised; it was the realism! This wasn't one of those dreams where the location is 'my house but not my house' nor 'it was me but didn't look like me' etc. This was accurate to the smallest detail! I experienced all of my senses during this dream, too - it was as though I had transported myself to my own physical reality whilst asleep.

I entered the living room, my cat was on the sofa, the patio door was slightly ajar and it was a bright sunny day outside - the birds were singing and my garden was alive as in waking life. However, my television was doing something odd: it was switched on but there was no picture - the screen was full of bright, white light that fizzed and moved. I went round the back of the tv to see what the cause was and as I did, I felt the breeze on me from the open patio door. As I looked at the set, I could see that the cable that links the set to the aerial socket was missing. I felt anxious; I was worried that someone had come in through the patio door and stolen it.

That's when the dream changed slightly - I had to figure this out a little later by replaying the dream.
I wondered whether the supersoaker had been stolen, too (I keep this near the patio door in waking life to discourage a bully of a cat who comes into my garden I don't know why this would be important to me, except that is kept in the same location). As I looked down to see whether it was there, instead of seeing it like everything else in the dream, I needed to visualise it and this made it smaller than real size and I was aware that I was creating it in my head. Then I looked beside the tv and found a new cable - this does not exist in reality, so I had to create that in the dream. I plugged the cable in and the set went back to working normally.

Having rerun this dream, it seems that as soon as I became anxious, I changed the dream for myself, in order to stop feeling scared. It seems to be saying more clearly what I experienced in the previous dream but in a different way.

What are your thoughts on it?

Many thanks!

Well, certainly big changes are taking place in YOU!!

Also it might be that you are tuning into yourself with a 'new cable' so things should be even better.

The reality seems to be a feature of clarifying your dream experience, and often is part of an important dream.

I sense that the change is like looking in a new direction and suddenly realising - My God, I had never seen that before, and now it is so obvious.

Excuse me for plugging things, but in case you haven't already seen it, please read http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/dream-yoga/

When you overtake me let me know, so I can cruise along in your tailwind.

Ah, so the new cable may not be simply an invention of my fear?! Thanks - I'll go and have a look at the link!!

I don't think there's any chance I'm going to overtake, you, Tony  ;D
Blessings
