Dream Interpretation / Re: Dream of Ex-Girlfriend's Death

Aristocrates,

What a lovely dream. In it, you seem to already have integrated into your own heart the wonderful love you have shared. You are acknowledging the relationship has changed, that the physical woman is gone, but the love and other relationships it brought into your life are still there. What a gentle reminder that everything changes, and yet, on some very deep and abiding level, love is holding us all together, whether we see it tangibly or not. I felt very peaceful reading this dream, and hope that it brings you some warmth and hope moving forward.

THE VULTURE AS TOTEM

Here are somethings for you.... enjoy the medicine!

The vulture is a very powerful totem. Its cycle of power is year-round. If you have a Vulture as a spirit guide or totem, it can show you how to use energy powerfully and efficiently.  It glides effortlessly on the winds, soaring to extraordinary heights while using little or no energy.  The Vulture skillfully employs already existing air currents against the pull of gravity, symbolizing the distribution of energy so that gravity (or cares) do not weigh it (you) down.  In the process the vulture does not use its own energy, but the energies of the Earth instead, the energies of the Earth --- or the Natural Order of Things --- being ONE of the mainstay sources in The Power of the Shaman. A very valuable lesson.

"One day, when I was around ten years old or so, I went for a hike deep into the desert unescorted. When my Uncle discovered I was gone he went looking for me. During my walk I happened across the carcass of a dead rabbit and was fascinated by it for some reason. When my Uncle found me after cresting a small hill he saw me squatted down with the carcass. Joining me quite comfortably in a circle with the rabbit were three what were, because of this incident, to eventually become my Totem Animal --- VULTURES. From what he was able to discern from his initial vantage point I was neither afraid of them nor were they remotely afraid of me. As well, and he swore this to be true --- although I have absolutely no recollection of it and construe it as a possible total misinterpretation of facts --- that the vultures and I were sharing meat from the carcass between us.

"When my Uncle told his estranged wife about the incident she suddenly was very interested in me. You see, for some reason, in today's neo-Shaman environment there has been a stress placed on finding one's "power animal." The contemporary neo-Shaman workshops have a tendency to blind people to the fact that real animals are also spirit and power, and every bit as important, or even more so, than than a spirit guide that appears in some vision. His estranged wife, a Midewiwin Medicine Woman, knew that. In workshops, the totem-animal-visions of participants are never frogs, gophers or garden slugs, they are always wolves, bears, eagles, and falcons. If it were only so." [1]

The scientific name for the Turkey Vulture is CATHARTES AURA which means GOLDEN PURIFIER because as it goes about it's lifetime business it purifies the landscape and environment in it's own natural way, ensuring the continued health and life of other living things. The Vulture is a promise that all hardship was temporary and necessary for a higher purpose.  Once a Vulture enters your life as a totem or guide, it will remain with you for life.
Vultures live and work together, both in cooperation and friendliness. They communicate with friends and neighbors when they find something to eat. They let the others know where the food is. And when there is a big feast they communicate with neighboring flocks in distant roosts. Also, Turkey Vultures that range within California Condor habitat areas, when they find food they will go to the Condors and lead them to it. One roost was observed when they had a dead cow in their neighborhood. They somehow contacted a roost of 100 vultures about 30 miles away to come join them. Several days later, before they finished their feast, two more cows died. Within a day the vultures had contacted another roost to join them. At night all the birds visited together in the same or neighboring trees. There were now three different roosts living together. When the cows had been cleaned up the several visiting roosts went home. (source)
In Greek mythology, the Vulture is the descendant of the Griffin.  It was a very Buddhist-like, Zen-like symbol of the non-dual oneness of heaven and earth, spirit and matter, good and evil, guardian and avenger.  The Vulture is the avenger of nature spirits.    Ancient Assyrians believed the Vulture was, like Nagarjuna's middle way, Sunyata, the encompassing overall non-separated union between the day and night. Ironically, regardless of the less than good image the vulture is typically granted by most, think about it:

Unlike the needs of nearly all other living creatures, vultures do not kill.
Their prey either dies or something else kills it.

Truly a most noble attribute for any living entity, flora or fauna.

Herodorus Ponticus relates that great men of legend were always very joyful when a vulture appeared upon any action. For it is a creature the least hurtful of any, pernicious neither to corn, fruit-tree, nor cattle; it preys only upon carrion, and never kills or hurts any living thing; and as for birds, it touches not them, though they are dead, as being of its own species, whereas eagles, owls, and hawks mangle and kill their own fellow-creatures. That very same overall innate nature imbeded in the actions and life of the vulture, never killing or hurting a living thing or its own fellow creatures, is reflected for the most part, in and by the the actions and life of the person that truly has the vulture as a totem animal.

Wow Mikey, a blessing indeed. The Winged Ones are very special, and in Native American tradition, the birds of prey carry gifts of sacred prayer.

A sacred Connection indeed. Get on native american sites and look up vultures and you will see what our indigenous people believe they carry.

I wish you many moments of soaring upon the wings of your scottish vulture....

Healing Dreams / A New Medicine Dream
« on: March 13, 2012, 03:28:10 PM »
I awoke this morning from a beautiful medicine dream and I wanted to share the blessing.

I found myself outdoors at a rave or some sort of summer music festival. There were all kinds of people there, mostly younger, in colorful clothes and covered with tribal art and jewelry. I was alone, very content, full of a calm life-force as I wandered among the revelers. The midday sun was shining down warmly upon us and there was an air of freedom, safety and joy all around. I was drawn to some people dancing around a fire pit, and on the ground I saw a beautiful silver bird brooch of mine on the ground. Then I saw another piece of my jewelry, and another. I realized I had hidden my bag away while I was exploring and it occurred to me that it must have spilled open and my things fallen out. I began to look more intently for my beautiful silver jewels, but only found four of them and realized that everything else, including the bag was gone. It was a surprising realization, and yet, somehow, in that time and place not really troubling at all.

The scene shifted to later that same evening. I was in a small, outdoor amphitheater and a lecture was going on while people were milling about. It was still a rave scene and there were all kinds of beautiful, psychedelic visual effects happening up on the stage and all around on the side walls, though the theater was open aired. I realized the whole effect was inducing a trance state and it felt really good to collectively be linked emotionally. I spied a really gorgeous object shimmering an irredescent purple red blue pink and thought it some wondrous new stone I had never seen before. When I reached out to touch it, I realized it was man made, some kind of new synthetic plastic and I thought that was really interesting and funny. I left it and turned back to the stage where now a serious ceremony was being performed. Two Native American Medicine Men were on the stage saging and singing prayers in their mother tongue. They were wearing old traditional buckskins with green paintings on them. Their hair was raven blue/black, long and shiny falling in braids down their backs. I recognized the face of one, he looked like a kin of Chief Joseph, with a proud bearing and chiseled features.

All the while the young people were still grooving and milling about quietly though hardly reverently. I realized I was part of an amazing blessing of Elders, and saw that beside me was a Mexican American man my age who was completely fixated on the ceremony going on at the stage. Right then a young may, barely 20 fell into his lap, very high and happy. I think it was the man's son. The man held him gently and shared something about the ceremony going on and I realized that We are the Keepers of the Elders Traditions and we must pass them on to the new generations in ways they can hear and understand. The man and I shared the bond of choosing the path to be Loving Teachers, a bridge between the old and the new, this world and that.

And I awoke very grateful to the spirits that they share such a great blessing with me.

Aho!

The Tanzanite Crystal Healings

Two: Strengthening The Grey Wolf

The same morning I awoke with the gifting of the Tanzanite Crystal, I called The Grey Wolf into Lodge and took him to the beautiful healing fountain we built years ago. The space was lined with beautiful warm sand, and I bathed him in the healing waters. When he was refreshed, I lay him upon the warm sand and began to work with the Tanzanite Crystals. As Aumakua had shown me, I put the Quartz base with all of the tanzanite points on the sand just above his head. I asked the spirit of the Crystals to work with us and began laying out the individual lavender tanzanite around him, points aiming in. I gently sang some of the songs and chants Aumakua had taught me and The Grey Wolf seemed deep in repose. The waters of the spring bubbled softly in the background. I offered many prayers to the Spirits and Ancestors on behalf of him, wishing him to be strong and open as he moves forward in this life and on into the next. The crystals seemed to pulse and glow as they interacted with his energy.  We lay there for hours, and eventually I fell asleep on the sands beside him.

When I awoke, the crystals had all rearranged and were still gently pulsing. The Grey Wolf appeared to be deep in meditation, and was breathing in slow, calm low breaths. I stayed vigil over him until he finally awoke. He was very quiet and smiled gently. I began to remove the Tanzanite points one by one, reversing the order in which they had been laid out. Each again found his or her home on the Quartz Crystal Base. When all were back in their place, The Grey Wolf sat up and I gave him a drink of the cool spring water.  I kissed his head gently and left him to be with his thoughts.

The Tanzanite Crystal Healings

One: The Initiation Of Dakota

I took the Giant Tanzanite Crystal to my Aumakua in my tropical island home in the spirit world. Aumakua was there to receive the blessing of the healing crystal and she set it down upon the new black sands, of the pristine cove where she greets me. She bid me to lie on the warm sands beside her. My body and soul sank into the black crystal sands knowing I was being sunk into the loving body of the Mother. Aumakua nestled the Giant Crystal into the sand above my head. She blessed the stones with a chant from her Ancestors and called them all to come share with us this great gift. She took the Tanzanite Crystals from the Quartz base, one by one, and began laying them out around my body, with the points carefully pointing in towards me. Aumakua began the layout at my head and then moved around my body, inside my aura, chanting slowly, invoking both her helpers and mine to share in this initiation. The ocean tides were lapping gently along the shore of our little cove enveloping me in an aurel blanket of sounds that was like a sweet and ancient lullaby.

Aumakua used each of the Tanzanite points, having taken them out individually, greeting them and placing them with love. In the tropical sun, the crystals blazed brighter than I had seen them before, the full brilliance of their rainbows dancing with healing energy inside each one. I felt the powers of the Universe, the Ancestors, of even the Star Beings pouring energy into my being, reopening and reawakening the pathways and webs that, while hidden deep within, have always bound me to them outside of time and even space. I breathed in the power of the energy that was the Heart of the Nothingness of Long Ago.

I slept there on our sacred beach with Amakua singing low songs or chanting, and gathering shells and fragrant flowers from the lush gardens along the edge of the cove to lay beside me. The sun went down in a spectacular sunset and the stars began peeking out as twilight turned into the Black Velvet Deep of the night. A tiny sliver moon appeared just above the sunset and soon vanished over the horizon. I could see so many things in that deep tapestry, galaxies far beyond our own and spirits only waiting for our call to come and help us.

The tides rose and fell through the night, and when the dawn began to ease her light upon us, Aumakua was sleeping beside me in and we were ringed with Honu, some laying in her arms. The Tanzanite crystals had rearranged themselves in the night, some now hovering in the air above me, each moving on their own responding to the spirits and my needs. I felt so full of love, so cleansed of need, centered and whole within my body.

When a whole day and night had passed and the tides had risen and fallen twice each, Aumakua gently began lifting the Tanzanite Crystals one by one and placing each back on the Giant Quartz. Each had his or her own defined resting place on the Quartz and slipped securely back into their own home with grace and ease. Aumakua offered me papaya and mango and we ate the rich fruits together smiling on the shore. We both new she had bonded me to the Giant Tanzanite Crystal and that my work was about to begin on an entirely new level.

The Tanzanite Crystal Gifting
I am posting the dream of the Tanzanite Crystals and the other wonderful dreams that followed the same night, to show how I took the gifts from my dreams and moved them into a home in my DreamLodge. I will also post something to follow about how I work with these gifts there. Hopefully some of you are experimenting with this process....

The Tanzanite Crystals

I was in some kind of institution with my husband, a university or a museum of some sort and there was a room where they were selling some old things, objects and antiques that were left behind or no longer wanted. A few adults were shuffling through a small room with stuff piled on shelves, floor to ceiling and strewn over and under a long table in the center of the room. People were eagerly and anxiously making their way around the table trying to scout out any treasure before someone else grabbed it. I spied an amazing crystal specimen from across the room high up on a shelf. It was a huge opaque quartz crystal maybe two feet across with these gorgeous single detachable lavender crystal points all over it (21? 26?). It was spectacular. I immediately wanted it, but knew it would be far too valuable for me to be able to afford it. The color was really not distinctly tanzanite, but rather that softer lavender shade that both tanzanite and amethyst share. And these crystal points were not clear gem quality, but rather slightly opaque with magnificent rainbows shimmering in each one. It literally took my breath away. I didn’t really think then that it was mine, as I knew it would be expensive and I thought that I simply could not splurge like that to make it mine. I even remarked out loud, to no one in particular, how valuable that specimen would be as the lavender points were most likely very rare tanzanite. Soon a man, who was with his wife and perhaps teenage children, climbed up on the shelf to inspect it and I realized, that surely he or someone would snatch it up soon. I kept looking around the room as we circled around the table and found nothing more to interest me. Before leaving that area, I wanted to take one last look at the Tanzanite Crystal, but it was gone, and I realized that man must have taken it to buy. I realized I really wanted it, and didn’t want it to leave this place without me at least seeing it again, so I ran out of the room hoping to be able to find whoever had taken it wherever the purchasing area for the institution was.

As I left the room, it appeared that I was in a hospital. The colored lines ran on the floor telling visitors where to go looking for specific types of medical areas. All kinds of working medical personnel, doctors, nurses, technicians and administrators were milling about. I tried to figure out where a gift store would be where someone would pay for whatever they wanted from the room the crystal had been in. Eventually I found a place with cash registers, but there was no sign of that man or his family, nor any sign of the Giant Crystal. I was a bit dejected, knowing that they had most likely bought it and already left, but again I felt that probably it was not meant to be. I wished I had acted earlier when I saw the magnificence of the crystal to recognize it was kindred to me, and had made it mine.

My husband  came out looking for me, and I told him what had happened. He asked me to go back with him to the room with all the objects in it to look for it again just in case. We were both rummaging around the room, now with no one else in it when Sam found it in a different place. It was also in a beautiful new cedar box with a gorgeous rich purple cushioned lining to protect it. It was boxed up and ready to go. My husband gave it to me and I took it with me and never had to pay for it.

And that was the end of that dream.

Later that night I found myself in another institution like setting. I had the box with my new tanzanite crystal and I was going to find a wonderful quiet space to lie down and meditate with it. I pulled out this meditation cushion to lie upon (which I don’t have and have never seen before) and was eager to lie down with my new stones, when I saw a colleague from work. I hesitated because I didn’t want to meditate in front of him, nor did I want him knowing much about my wonderful new healing crystal, but it seemed that I needed to meditate right there and then anyway. I asked him what he was doing there, but it seemed that we were in a place like a natural history museum,  but also a big box store. His wife and son were there, and I realized they were going on a family camping trip and were buying two new style dugout canoes. I thought it was great that he and his family were doing this outdoor adventure together and decided to just tried to meditate right there despite the fact they were there.

That is all I remember of that dream.

Later in the night yet, I had another Crystal Dream. I found myself in a small lecture/demonstration area at UCLA. I scientist was showing a slide show and talking about a wonderful crystal vein they had discovered somewhere and moved, in toto, back to campus to study. This was no ordinary crystal vein. It had some kind of super power that they hadn’t quite yet either fully explored, or been willing to share with the public. I was at this lecture as I had already had an interaction with this fabulous crystal vein when it had first been brought to UCLA. It had been on display briefly to the public and I had been lucky enough to hear about it and also to get to see it. Well, seeing it wasn’t quite right as it was actually a room size bit of terrain with these amazing massive crystals popping up at various places and in various configurations. When I had been to the display people were actually allowed to walk on it, and I could feel the power being exchanged into my body in the various spots where the magical crystals were clustered. The memory of that experience had been so powerful I wanted to learn more about it, only to find that now the authorities were keeping it from the public. I knew it must have some ability that was as yet uncharted by Western Science. Then they showed a short computer animation of the crystal vein as it had appeared in the wild. It was in an old gorge or rift in ancient lands, and had a tiny, crystal clear stream running down its belly ridge. It was very sweet, but you could barely see where the big crystal clusters emerged from the earth. Then I was a bit startled to see a computer generated wild animal, sort of a cross between a deer and a moose, come walking down the stream with his mechanical stick legs and body ambling towards us viewers. It was surprising and I wondered what connection that man made animal had with the amazing powers of the crystals. But the lecture ended there and I didn’t learn any more.

Hi Steve,

Re-entering a dream to explore it is one of the main techniques Tony uses to get the depth of meaning from the dream. It does take practice, but don't fret over it. Simply practice going back in and picking a character or an object in the dream and enter the exploration from that point of view. If you meditate, it is something akin to that state...quieting the mind and setting your subconscious free to surface things. Tony has written more on the website about how to do this.

I have sent him a note asking him to look at your dream. If he doesn't get to it in a few days, you can post the dream again and I'll stay off the thread.

I love the relationship you seem to have with animals in your inner life. You might want to look at books by Ted Andrews, especially Animal Speak, or the Medicine Cards which is a book and card set by Jamie Sams and one of my teachers, David Carson. I think both have websites you can browse also.

Keep dreaming!

Mithokey, Mother Earth, Gaia, is a Living Being and we are her children. While we have mucked about, I am hopeful that many of us are awakening to her and want to fight to turn the thoughtless ways of our species around. By being here, and exploring your dreams, you are working on things that can be helpful. Practice kindness and understanding, try to be gentle with yourself and others, and open your loving heart. This is a great time of awakening now, and our planet and humans have a real chance for wonderful evolution. Look at Tony's posts on 2012 and the Great Changes that are coming. Get out in Nature every day and take your friends. Listen to her wisdom with your heart.

Have Faith and Hold Hands!

Blessings, Dakota

Hi Steve, I finally found the thread with the Horse dream. How wonderful. And I love how Tony explores your dream and sees so much in it. The dreams you have posted here seem to be populated with wonderful animals. Have you worked with that at all? Are you interested. You certainly show a wonderful affinity and it seems in your dream they are a ready vocabulary for you. How lucky you are.

I would love to hear what happens if you ever try the technique of re-entering a dream with the Hawk Queen Dream...

Dream Interpretation / Re: white wolf dream

Hi again Silverheels,

While looking at one of Tony's dream interpretations I found this which also might be very helpful in exploring your WhiteWolf Dream. Check it out!

" I feel again and again that people need educating as too how their mind works, and that is far more important for many people that maths. So I feel it necessary to say things over and over, and ask people to read - http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/what-we-need-to-remember-about-dreaming/

Here is a little bit of that feature: So I feel a need to point out some facts about life – your life.

Some Facts about Dreaming and Life
1.   Dreams are a magical mirror in which your innermost hopes, longings, fears/terrors and genius are made real. They are made real as external environments, people, animals and relationships. Unfortunately this wonderful virtual reality world is usually felt as dealing with other people, as externals, like something that can damage us, or something like the Devil that can possess us. But the greatest truth I have found in exploring dreams – not interpreting them – is that we are alone with ourselves in the world of our dream. If we can acknowledge and admit that our terrors we dream are actually our past hurts that we have not faced presenting themselves for us to heal; that the ghosts and demons that can rampage about our night are embodiments of our fears and ideas presented to us as truths; that our wonderful visions and insights are an expression of our own infinite potential, then we can walk a pathway to finding what we really are. Audio Introduction to Exploring a Dream.

So please learn to face your fears, they are only emotions. If you do not face them they will continue to scare you.

Tony"

Hi Steve, I can't find the Horse dream in the dream interpretation thread. Is it posted somewhere else? If you can find it, let me know. I would love to see it and T's interpretation.

I did see your butterfly dream and it was delightful. Do you regularly dream in color?

Silverheels,
It is important to know what the white wolf means to you...I also feel it the dream means you are fighting with yourself. Do you struggle being both native american and white (I am assuming that is the other race here)? If so, have you been taught Seneca teachings about wolves? If so, it would be helpful to know what those are to see what cultural imagery you put to this wolf. The good thing about your dream is though you were afraid, you took action, leapt off the cliff and flew, somehow knowing you would be ok. Is there something you want to do in your life, some big change or new thing you want to do that you are anxious about? If so, your dream seems to be telling you to take a leap of faith and go for it!

Let me know what the White Wolf means to you, outside of the context of this dream.

Aho!

Hi Steve, I haven't looked up the horse dream yet, but will do that this morning. I would say Coyote was playing with you to send the Crows after your Hawk! That's Magic chasing your Dreams.....

Tony teaches a wonderful way to re-enter one's own dreams and get more information and clarity from it. It is posted on the Dreamhawk site: http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/dialogue-with-a-dream-character-or-object/

I encourage you to read that and then experiment with the technique. It is hard for some at first, but if you work with it, you will have an enormous tool to be able to explore your dreams.

And perhaps you will never recover exactly what your jeweled hawk said in that dream, but she is sharing something I think you may uncover.

If you try the technique, let us know what happens. This doesn't only have to be done once, you can use this again and again. If you look at my dreamlodge post, in meditation I invite some of the Beings I encounter in my dreams to my Dreamlodge where they dwell and I can council with them. That is something else you could explore with this bird and some of your other animal encounters. Have you worked with Animal Medicine?
