Dream Interpretation / canoeing to the sea
« on: January 10, 2016, 01:36:36 PM »
hi tony,
i recently had a few dreams regarding meeting a female who told me i was stuck, said she was going away for a while ,that when she returned she would bring something to un-stick me,
i have a good idea that this dream refers to my intuition which has been on holiday to put it mildly,
last night i had this dream which i am not sure relates to the above ,hoping you can help.
the dream.
i am kayaking along a narrow river, this river is barely wide enough to take just one canoe,it is so shallow in parts that i have to put my hands down into the water and push myself along, the narrow river also goes up and down hills like a rollercoaster ,flowing in one direction which i come to understand is one way only,as i reach the top of a hill i meet two other kayakers coming the other way, they get out to let me pass,i thank them and paddle on,
we reach the sea into a large bay similar to what you would find in scotland, heather, rocky etc.
i remark out loud ,that finally we have arrived at last.
what i did feel was the relief of transferring from what was quite a constrictive almost claustrophobic journey into a much more expansive  environment,so many symbols in this dream ,
the narrow channel plopping out into a bay has a birth motif about it,
look forward to any thoughts.

Dream Interpretation / my avatar
« on: October 12, 2015, 03:57:49 PM »
Hi tony
I chose the title my avatar carefully as I felt it had meaning to this dream.
I see myself taking part in the olympics, a sprint final, the starter gun fires we sprint off down the track,
as we near the finish line I am ahead but sense over my shoulders others catching up, crossing the line I dip forward as sprinters do .
I win the gold as I have come first.
I am humble in this victory as I tell the other runners, I have not run this race for myself, but have run it for someone else, this other someone said they would not cry, looking across to the winners podium I see another me crying with joy at this acievement,
I seem to remember a saying, cant remember where from or whom,
I can of mine own self do nothing.
I chose that title my avatar, as I definatly was aware of another me, a better more in tune me, I remember joseph campbell talking about peak experiences, especialy a race he took part in at college, he just intuitively new he was going to win that day, he didnt know how he knew, he just did,
Perhaps I just need to get out of the way, and let this other me come through.
look forward to any thought

Dream Interpretation / wisdom of the ancient
« on: September 15, 2015, 04:09:55 PM »
hi tony.
i had this dream the other night, one of those ones that stay with you throughout the following days,i think because of the ancient feel of it.
the dream.
i come to a place in a forest,a hut type structure built from oak leaves and hazel boughs,in the doorway sits an ancient looking old lady,i say ancient as she has clothes made from what looks like knitted moss,i feel she is as ancient as the earth itself, she radiates knowledge,of things of the earth, and the other world.
she asks me to sit, which i do,
she then tells me about a stone,a special stone of power, which i must place inside a hazel wood staff,by carving out a recess and gluing it in.
i ask her where i can find this stone, she tells me that i do not need to look for it, as it will find i me,i then woke up.

what stood out for me was her words,"it will find you",
i am aware these processes cannot be rushed, and things tend to happen when the time is right,
i was reminded of ,they also serve who stand and wait, think it was Blake ??

as always i respect your knowledge and experience and look forward to any thoughts you may have .

Dream Interpretation / that leap!
« on: July 17, 2015, 09:35:38 AM »
hi tony,
as you know the theme in my last couple of posts seem to hover around (no pun intended) making a leap into the unknown,
i am of the mind that if a dream repeats itself it is because the meaning is not yet understood, baring this in mind,
this latest dream is a reflection of this idea,or maybe a sign of progress ,i am not sure.
the dream.
i am aware of many previous battles taking place, there is one more to come,i am aware i am heading towards the  last battle, intuitively i feel it is one i am going to win.
i am running through undergrowth knowing somewhere i am going to reach the edge of a cliff,
breaking through a large bush i make a great leap into fresh air,i have jumped into nothing,i can see the patchwork of fields below me as if i am up in the sky,i think i am probably going to die.
but,i realise in front of me is a huge tall wooden pole ,i land on this hugging it with a grip of life, phew,
i realise i can slide down like a fireman would to the ground, where a huge army dressed in white is waiting for me,this is the last battle,i understand that the battle is with whatever is coming down the pole after me.

no doubt you will see as i did,the resemblance to jack and the beanstalk,i have read quite a few  interpretations from psychological & spiritual sources on the metaphorical meaning of the story.
as always i respect your knowledge of dream content, and would value your thoughts,

Dream Interpretation / enactment of a rune dream.
« on: July 06, 2015, 09:27:31 AM »
hi tony,
i had a dream a few days ago which doesn't really need interpreting, but i thought i would mention it as it gave me an insight into another way in which dreams try to communicate.
the dream,
i see an ancient ruin similar to stonehenge revolving round & round, the objective is to jump through one of the openings at the right time,i hear a voice say ,its about timing.
i then see myself down in a hollow,i become aware of something coming up the road but because of my position i can't see what it is,i am now out of the hollow & can now see what is coming,i say outload, its OK i have dreamed  this before ,i am expecting it.
now i have a book on runes by Ralph blum,
i had one of those aha moments,i remembered a rune that was quoted in visual form in the dream which was all about timing, reading up on it ,it said,
when the timing is right, the outcome is assured, although from the present vantage point ,not predictable,
rely therefore on radical trust,& be ready to make that empty handed leap into the void,
well i have goosebumps, this fits the recent dreams i have posted here on that expanding into the great nothing ness theme.
so i would surmise from the dream ,if what you seek is in accord with what the life process has in store for you,it is assured, although from the present vantage point unpredictable.
the by product of this dream & my understanding of it,have given me a great sense of calm & understanding that despite my lack of faith on occasions, all will be well.

Dream Interpretation / the great nothing
« on: June 03, 2015, 08:42:45 AM »
hi tony,
i think i have been suffering from a kind of shamanic sickness, where something has been trying to attract my attention by breaking down my defences, while ill on holiday i slept ,i had this dream if it can be truly called a dream, the content of which i am certain will resonate with you.
the dream.
i am in a large dug out hole in the ground, way above my head,i need to climb out but cant.
i  realise that all the grains of soil/dirt that have been removed to form the hole, represents experiences in my life both good and bad,all the wonder, all the pain, the love, the hate.
i become aware, that out of the hole exists  a huge nothing- ness,a vast seemingly empty abyss,
i hear that voice ,it says,i have to let go,let go of it all, expand into the great emptiness,
Of course i am not enlightened enough to do this,so i feel the great fear & dread of this surrender.

from a psychological/spiritual aspect i see it is something that cannot be penertrated or contemplated by the rational mind,it is beyond our capacity to understand,so our egos fear it,mine certainly does.
this is not symbology i have experienced in a dream before, sure i have read about it in some hindu, buddhist stories ,
Despite my fear, i believe i have had something of a breakthrough.
i know some folk gingerly peer over the edge into the abyss, very few laugh and jump in.
perhaps i need to be a fool !
look forward to your thoughts.

Dream Interpretation / you are more than your brain !
« on: May 03, 2015, 10:17:24 AM »
hi,
i just wanted to share something ,just in case you may not have come across this,
i have just watched a short video of a lady called jill bolte taylor phd, there are a few vids of her on you tube,
she is a brain specialist, and  is her story of having a stroke and the revelations she had ,
she experienced a detatchment and some sort of zen/budhist breakthorugh,i was left stunned,

one of my mentors, carl jung ,termed a phrase,a re-centre of the location of gravity from the ego to the self,
i have not had a stroke so i do not know what it is like, but i do recognise a shift in the location of gravity from ego to self when i see one.
i hope you enjoy her revelations as much as i did.

Dream Interpretation / the buddhist holy man
« on: March 03, 2015, 12:08:42 PM »
hi tony,
i am struggling to understand this dream,i know you are well versed in religious/spiritual symbology,
despite a bit of research i am still uncertain as to its importance,so i am hoping you can help me with this .
the dream.
i observe & follow a buddhist holyman with his helper or aide,we walk up onto the top of a large dome/mound,we each carry a glass bowl in which is a lighted candle,
we reach the top of this dome ,the holy man sits down making preperations to meditate,
he is sat in the lotus position with the bowl candle by his feet, the aide stands behind him holding his bowl in his hands, sort of over the head of the sitter,
i am filled with awe as i know that he will sit meditating through everything that is thrown at him weatherwise, unshakable, detached etc,
i turn around walking to the edge of the dome,i see the whole landscape spread out before me,the air smells sweet & fresh, the sun is shining brightly,i feel good,it all feels good.

the dome reminded me of one that is in Kathmandu,a Buddhist shrine i think with some sort of face painted on it,.
have been thinking  about a path i think i need to follow,i can only surmise that this dream may be reinforcing my thoughts,
your thoughts are always most welcome.

Dream Interpretation / the dragon ,that huge that we are.
« on: November 10, 2014, 11:00:26 AM »
hi tony, not been here for a while,
i had this powerful dream which i feel compelled to mention ,
the dream,
i am on a quest, trekking across a great wilderness,i remember walking through a swamp like area, then finding an inflateable kayak, which needed to be inflated a little, this i did by blowing hard into it,
i become aware,as i am sat around the campfire on resting for the night,of the presence of a black dragon that has been summoned into our world by dark forces,
i find myself travelling out of my body and into the body of a great dragon that is being held prisoner in a tiny claustraphobic cage in a fortress, feeling all the constraints of this dragon,i bellow out i will not be contained anymore, breaking out with a feeling of tremendous freedom & relief,i know my purpose is to take on & defeat the dark dragon running riot in the world,
i felt elated & terrified at the same time, with the knowledge that i am in the presence of an almighty power,
i remembered thinking, that to defeat a dragon one must become the dragon,
phew !
an amazing mythological dream,
any thoughts ?

Dream Interpretation / instruction dream
« on: May 15, 2014, 01:42:39 PM »
hi,
could do with a little help with this dream,
i hear a  disembodied voice say," you will know when to act"
i  then look through a glass window structure,i watch as a ship ,golden in colour manifests before my eyes through this window.
the ship i saw was very specific,,  a  tea clipper or wind jammer ,the only one i remember ,is  the famous  cutty sark,
i have no associations with this type of ship & have not visited one or anything.
i feel that the voice is not symbolic but as is,a cue to act or respond to something, that something being whatever the tea clipper symbolises,
i have researched tea clippers to gain some understanding of there qualities as a dream symbol.including the myth surrounding the name cuttysark, but as yet i have not had that AH HA moment,
would appreciate any thoughts.

Dream Interpretation / crossroads & god,
« on: December 10, 2013, 02:56:20 PM »
hi,
I have found a slight similarity with the lady in red dream I posted a while back, especially the long straight road, with this dream,
I am sat on a bench ,similar to the ones you find in a park area,it is placed at a t junction, road to my left & to my left, then one straight ahead infront of me,
I sense the presence of something ,sure enough I hear an angel speak,it says to me,
god is very near now, showing me a vision of uniting with god as one,an amazing dream.

I can feel myself cringing at the vary use of the word god etc ,something I gave up a long time ago.
look forward to any thoughts.

Dream Interpretation / suicide
« on: November 25, 2013, 11:19:56 AM »
hi tony,
 dream about a suicide,
i have read your entry on suicide especially the foreknowledge you had, i don't have a problem with this as it is something I have  myself, what woke me up to dreams in the first place,
I understand that as you say , the images in dreams are usually aspects of oneself , but with this particular dream I am struggling & would appreciate your help if you have the time.
the dream.
I am walking down a corridor, the whole place seems to bit lit with a golden sepia type light,
I see a female , she has strapped a metal bed to the wall to which some electric wires are connected,
she is going to electrocute herself , by leaning against it,
I saw & felt a terrible sadness surrounding her,
I say to her, please don't do this , because I love you,
I realised that saying that, was a waste of words she was determined to go through with it,& there was nothing anyone could do to stop it.
I am not consciously aware of anyone in my life that is showing signs of desperation,
nor am I aware of any inner neglect of feminine aspects,
in fact have had  dreams in this area which seem to imply we are getting on ok,
I am sure you know what I mean.
I am a little troubled ,,dreams I have experienced with this golden sepia light have turned out to be those ones that contain that de je vu ,in that they cant be worked out logically , only when it happens does  the dream goes ping!
the metal bed strapped to the wall with electrodes, this reminded me of some sort of torture device,
recall seeing that in that in the  movie  Rambo or something ,
I am not sure what this dream is telling me ,am I so out of touch with myself ?
look forward to any thoughts.

Dream Interpretation / identity mixup.
« on: November 14, 2013, 03:23:57 PM »
I have been trying to get to the bottom of a dream I had last week,
one of those that seems simple in content but defies logic,
if I tripped over an elephant I would not know what it was, thats my thinking at the moment,
so I would really appreciate any help.
the dream.
I bump into a male I met on holiday in Rhodes in sept 2013,he says you remember my wife don't you,
I look at his wife & think ,that's not the woman I saw you with on holiday, she was nothing like her at all, physically that is.
I spent a while in the dream pondering this strange mystery, had I got it wrong, did I imagine he was with the other woman.if so,who's this other woman he is with now.

it probably has nothing to do with my feelings on holiday but more a metaphor for something going on a bit closer to home.as to what,it is bugging me,
I hear over & over in my head ,"thats not the female I saw you with,
look forward to your thoughts.

Questions about dreams / werewolves as symbols
« on: November 07, 2013, 12:05:23 PM »
hi,
a lot has been written about werewolves & as dream symbols, some of it a bit confusing,as always our own personal associations are as important as the collective ones.
most of the meanings I have come across, tend to centre around it symbolically representing a sexual predator, this may be one of its meanings,  as always it will depend on its actions in a dream, but to me its not the whole story,
a werewolf is a human who has become an animal, not just any animal ,an aggressive violent one,who has no control of his actions.
i once helped a lady who was plagued by werewolf dreams,
i asked her if she was in a masculine controlled environment,to put it politely,
my thoughts were ,she was in an abusive relationship, from which she could not escape.
she finally told me her male partner was very violent towards her, frequently & i quote, "dragging her around the room by her hair",most of the time he was loving & kind, but when he drank, there is the werewolf,
i think in most cases the symbology seems to suggest this violent, aggressive nature, either in another person around us or even within ourselves.
i am happy to report that the lady in question got out of the violent relationship,& is now a lot happier.
just thought i would share this with you all .

Dream Interpretation / the lady in red
« on: August 28, 2013, 04:23:42 PM »
hi ,had this dream last night,
before me is a dirt road,it seems dead straight leading out into the open countryside.
I say to myself, better start walking then.
on my left I notice a female, long blond hair,in a red dress, she is a friend who has come to see me off,
I am reluctant to kiss her to say goodbye, but I do anyway.
I am suddenly struck with the knowledge, that I am actually in love with her,and have not had the courage to reveal this to her,i tell her what I now feel, she also ,unbeknown st to me feels the same way,she then says she will now walk with me,
it was a lovely dream,

many years ago,i had a female friend called Alison, she was blond haired ,came from leamington spa in England,
just like the dream,i  managed to tell her my feelings,&  as in the dream ,she made her feelings known ,
came as a shock to me ,as I thought she was out of my league,we arranged to meet up a little later on in the week,
but something happened and i had to leave, never getting the chance to meet her again ,lost contact, never got to fullfill that part of my life,
I mention this background info,as I feel the dream relates to this ,i never got to complete this experience,& have never forgotten her,the dream I think is showing a completion of sorts,an acceptance before moving on,
secretly I wish it were a premonition,as it has left me feeling a little tortured.
look forward to any replies.
