General Discussion / Re: Working in a group
« on: September 13, 2011, 02:01:10 PM »
Hi – I am really enjoying our exchanges.

If you have five people and you, that makes six – exactly the number I was told was the first link to working in the wider life, and also able to earth it.

I am looking back on my years of being and acting as a sort of figurehead, and there are some things that stand out.

Do not think of yourself as a leader like an authority figure but rather a focus for the people you are working with. You are a part, a small part of something enormous, and yet at the same time you are the enormity – and so is everyone you are dealing with. So magic can happen at any time.

Think of yourself as part of that enormity but not, as the you still in your body consciousness, in control. So do not start out by being controlling.

It took an age to get past the guru attitude.

I think maybe I have said it all to you elsewhere, but here it is again.

The suggestions that follow have arisen from thirty-five years of group work. They have been particularly tested with a number of small groups.

The foundations of this practice rest on an understanding, or a standpoint accepted or taken by the listener and perhaps the dreamer. It is that the person before you is an expression of life. Let’s forget anything about theory, because the very first step is to form an attitude to what is in front of you. Here is a being, a little chunk of life, and at the core of this living being, this living process, a process that has developed a sense of self, is the stuff of life. It is the stuff that makes heroes and saints, mothers, fathers, friends and foes. It is the essence from which arises the whole thrust of life. It is the living core of creative possibilities. If you look around you at what life does, you can see it can be a multitude of things. It can manifest as a lion or a flea, a giraffe or a tree. It is, at the same time, both a galaxy and an amoeba. And here it is in front of you as a living being.

At the core is the freedom to choose

At the core of this being is that freedom to choose — that freedom that life expresses in its multiplicity of forms. Another word for that freedom is potential or creativity. So at the core of the person in front of you lies that potential, that creativity, that problem solving ability that life itself expresses. But perhaps with this being in front of you that freedom, that creative ability, that potential, has got lost, forgotten or buried in some way. So our work as the listener is to help them remember, help them find their way, to rediscover or uncover their creativity and problem solving ability. That creativity and ability to solve problems is always there inside them. That wonderful ability belongs to them. So it is not for us to solve their problem or to find the way for them. It is for us to help them uncover those possibilities within themselves.

General Discussion / Re: Consciousness
« on: September 13, 2011, 01:28:46 PM »
Hi - I want to add a few things to what Leswan has so rightly said.

I know I am sometimes long winded but here is something to get on with.

Irish physicist John Stewart Bell put forward a quantum theorem that has revolutionised the way reality is considered. In brief, the theorem states that when two sub-microscopic particles are split and moved to a distance from each other, the action on, or of, particle ‘A’, is instantaneously reproduced with particle ‘B’. This interaction does not rely on any known link or communication and is considered to stand above normal physical laws of nature, as it is faster than light. Prior to such findings it was thought nothing could transcend the speed of light.

Nick Herbert, in an interview published in High Frontiers writes: ‘THERE ARE LOTS OF THINGS that are being kept from the public as far as the subjects of physics and consciousness are concerned. Bell’s Theorem was proved in 1964, and it is still not taught in physics classes, and you don’t hear it on your science news programs. A theorem is a proof, and no one has found a flaw in this theorem. It’s such a simple proof that a high school kid can understand it. So physicists can understand it. They have various ways of trying to ignore it, but it can’t be refuted because it’s so simple.’
To quote Gary Zhukov, ‘Quantum mechanics is the theory. It has explained everything from subatomic particles to transistors to stellar energy. It has never failed. It has no competition.’
The implications of the theorem are enormous. Something can be in two places at once. Apparently distant objects, or people, are intricately linked in an immediate way. There is no separate existence as we previously thought. Our view of the world is not one supported by the facts of physics. Time and space are transcended. David Bohm, an eminent physicist, goes as far as to say that all things in our observable universe are inextricable linked. Nothing has separate existence.

Quantum physics, in demonstrating that two widely distant particles can immediately communicate, also punches a hole in the structure of the argument. If a simple particle can communicate beyond the speed of light, why not the consciousness of a human being?

While working with my friends John and Ann Clemence, who own the Capstone Hotel in Ilfracombe, Devon, I was helping to repair a flat roof on their house. The house is about a mile away from the hotel. As I was working on the roof, John told me that he was returning to the hotel. It had been a bitterly cold winter and John was gradually readying the hotel for the coming season. Time passed as I worked and suddenly I heard John shout my name twice. This seemed strange as I had not heard him return. The tone of his voice was very urgent, so I climbed from the roof and looked for him. I could not find him in the garden so looked through the house. He was nowhere to be seen. I stood puzzling over this for a few moments when the telephone rang in the house. Answering it I heard John excitedly shout my name twice, he had turned on the water mains in the hotel and discovered massive leaks due to frost damage. On discovering the leaks he had run from an upper floor to the telephone to get my help.

It seemed to me that John had mentally shouted my name as soon as he had seen the leaks. I heard that call over a mile away.

And here is someones experience at a deeper level.

"This has happened to me several times, and each time is similar. It is as though I have grown used to living in a room in a house. It is all I have ever known, so I take it that this is all there is of me. Then suddenly it feels as if the walls of that room melt away, or a door opens, and there I am stretching away forever. My mind, and what I can know, has no boundaries. If I think about a question, whatever it is, I have the most amazing response and insight, as if I have lived throughout all history. I feel as If I am part of a huge and unlimited sea of mind or consciousness. In it is all that has ever existed, merged and yet distinct. Every human talent and thought is in it alive and vital. At those times I know with an unshakeable surety that we cannot help but be a part of this immense life. Yet at the same time we can be at odds with it, be unsympathetic to it. This causes a condition of stress within us, and within our relationship with it. But I feel that if we completely accept our place in this being, even though one is a minute and seemingly insignificant part of it, then we are aligned with its huge universal life and purpose. Then we become revivified in some way."

Dream Interpretation / Re: recurring dream since college
« on: September 13, 2011, 10:49:32 AM »
ChineseGal – I believe this is about a love affair with you and your soul mate. You soul mate is not an external person, but the other half of you – the half that never got born; in other words the male half that has been held back because you have a female body.

We are always striving for balance in our dreams, so the sequence you describe is about finding the wonderful balance between the external female that you are and the wonderful male you have inside you.

Maybe that doesn’t sound exciting, but in fact it is the most exciting thing that can happen. Without it you will never feel complete even in marriage – with it you can really love someone and find an external mate more easily.

But you are holding of having a full union with your dream lover, and I think this is because you are uncertain that you are a beautiful woman and lovable. Yet he has told you already “You know I really care about you.” So drop all the uncertainty and open your heart and your body to be loved.

Dream Interpretation / Re: Seeing my dead father
« on: September 12, 2011, 12:50:23 PM »
Mmfreckle – It is a very clear dream describing and allowing you to experience that your father’s body was dead on the table, but yet he was still alive as his spirit self.

I feel the dream did this so you could see and realise the difference between bodily death and the life of the spirit. Look for more dreams that will explain more to you.

Dream Interpretation / Re: Meeting death with anticipation
« on: September 12, 2011, 11:56:41 AM »
AfricanGirl – Obviously you have no fear of death, which is wonderful to hear. But it does seem as if you are carrying some baggage with you.

Death is the dream world, except we do not wake up. As with the dream world we create our surroundings by our beliefs, fears, hopes and life experience. So in your case you seem to be someone who is hungry for life experience, yet the food is given in a rather mean way. Is it that you do not get as much of life as you really want?

But then there is the blue and the red light and you are fearful because you feel you will go to the wrong place. And that is the baggage you have with you, probably from religious teachings and popular views of death.

There is only one destination – the destination you create with your own beliefs, attitudes and ideas – the same as dreams. So please ask yourself why you didn’t get beyond that phase, and what thoughts attitudes you carry with you. See Dream Yoga as this might help find the next level - http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/dream-yoga/

Red can represent ones basic emotions, earthy nature, and sexuality. In this sense it depicts your strength or vitality and your down to earth health and power. But because of the modern association with traffic lights and warnings such as brake lights on cars, it may sometimes be used as a warning, or a way of saying ‘stop’ or ‘no’. It is in older societies also seen as and still is, called the ‘blood of the earth’ and is used in rituals to do with death and renewal.

Mztee – Sorry I have taken so long to reply. I have moved house and am still unpacking.

If you had been worrying about who the father of your child is it could be that your dream has shown you. But my feeling is that the dream shows you who you wanted the father to be. You can find out by asking your dream directly who the father is and watch what dreams come.

Dream Interpretation / Re: Clark Gable and me in a black and white movie
« on: September 11, 2011, 03:51:25 PM »
Pimuli – Of course it is about an external relationship. Any great dream like this has repercussions in the way we relate in a relationship.

It seems a straight forward dream about you relating to your male self – in fact your twin soul partner. As Jung point out:

“One of the favourite themes that the animus repeats end¬lessly in the ruminations of this kind of woman goes like this: “The only thing in the world that I want is love-and he doesn’t love me”; or “In this situation there are only two possibilities-and both are equally bad.” (The animus never believes in exceptions.) One can rarely con¬tradict an animus opinion because it is usually right in a general way; yet it seldom seems to fit the individual situation. It is apt to be an opinion that seems reasonable but beside the point.”

That is the negative side, and the positive is: “Like the anima, the animus does not merely consist of negative qualities such as brutality, recklessness, empty talk, and silent, obstinate, evil ideas. He too has a very positive and valuable side; he too can build a bridge to the Self through his creative activity.”

It seems as if you must have had dreams like this in the past to get through the sister difficulties so quickly – the sister being a younger less mature part of you. Having established a loving relationship within you, you can learn to extend this to outer relationship.

To quote from http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/archetype-of-the-animus-jungs-view-of-the-male-in-the-female/

Good relationship with or marrying the man: Shows the woman integrating her own ability to be independent and capable in outwardly active terms. This makes her more whole, balancing her ‘female’ qualities. She would then be less dependent upon an external male to feel whole. It also shows the woman meeting her experience of her father in a healing way. This enables the woman to have a realistic relationship with an actual man. It also brings a sense of connectedness between her conscious self and what she senses as the ‘commercial’ world.

General Discussion / Re: Witnessing ourselves outside of our egoselves
« on: September 10, 2011, 12:13:16 PM »
Leswan – This needs a lot of explanation, because there is more to learn about what you are capable of if you become lucid. For instance I must have said to you that everything you dream about is an aspect of you and not an objective outside person or environment. If we can acknowledge and admit that our terrors we dream are actually our past hurts that we have not faced presenting themselves for us to heal; that the ghosts and demons that can rampage about our night are embodiments of our fears and ideas presented to us as truths; that our wonderful visions and insights are an expression of our own infinite potential, then we can walk a pathway to finding what we really are.

So I am saying that you can use this to deal with the part of you in your dream that is a writhing in agony. But you cannot do it as a external observer, but by indentifying with it and therefore understanding its pain.

Also you can identify with the ‘unseen intelligence’ so that it is a part of you that you can use.

The abyss you mention is also a wonderful tool or ability it you can really drop into it. But here is an example in action.

Quote
Before waking this morning I had an extraordinary lucid experience that involved some imagery.  One of the clearest of these images was of myself in a maze.  The walls of the maze were made of hedges, as the whole thing was outdoors.  But I realised, because I was lucid in the experience, that I had purposely created the maze as an experiment.

The point of the experiment was that the maze was complicated enough to make it difficult for me to find my way out.  So, confronted by the difficulty of emerging from this dream maze, because of the lucidity, I could understand that this was a dream image, and in doing so I simply realised myself as pure awareness and transcended the maze.

I then experimented again and again with this, moving beyond the imagery into pure awareness.  This was such an extraordinary experience and realisation it is difficult to put into words with enough impact to make it real.

What it led me to become clear about was that all dreams involve our personal awareness in an environment or imagery of one sort or another.  Usually we feel the dream imagery to be so real, and the feelings we experience because of the imagery to also be real, that in a very concrete sense we are trapped.  So if we were in a prison cell in a dream, then there would be no way out of that cell without a key.  But realising oneself as pure awareness means there is no prison; there is no entrapment; there are no walls to hold you.  The imagery of the dream is then seen as simply that – imagery – stuff of the mind that we have conjured and become identified with and lost or trapped in. Even imagery with positive feelings are a form of trap if we identify with them.

I repeat again, this was an extraordinary experience.  And of course it relates to everyday life.  The more I look at the experience the more I realise that virtually everybody on our planet is trapped in a prison of their own emotions, thoughts and ideas.  To recognise this in any reasonable degree leads to an extraordinary sense of freedom.  To see that we live our life trapped in the world of thoughts, of emotions, of sexual drives, of fears or beliefs, is astonishing.

This is not a totally new insight for me.  I have experienced it in various ways over many years.  But never before have I been able to lucidly extract myself from the imagery of dreams, or to carry this so fully into my waking life.

To  use this more effectively try the following.

One of the most important things about actually understanding your dream rather that interpreting it is to become the dream person or object - to actually completely identify with it. This needs to be practiced as most people feel the dream person or object is something other than themselves and are often hesitant to become it. For instance the Devil in a dream is simply your own emotions and fears given an exterior image. And also Christ in a dream is the same thing. In doing this you can step beyond the imagery of the dream into direct experience of yourself in all its variety and wonder. The Christ for instance becomes an actual experience of the highest in you.

So to do this the dreamer next chooses one of the characters or images in the dream to explore. The character can be themselves as they appear in the dream, or any of the other people or things. It is important to realise that it does not matter if the character is someone known or not, or whether they are young or old. The character needs to be treated as an aspect of their dream, and not as if they were the living person exterior to the dream.
In choosing an image to work with, such as a person, a tree, cat, place, or an environment like the street in the example dream, it must again be treated as it appears in the dream, not as it may appear in real life.  One can take any image from the dream to work with.

Stand in the Role of Character or Object

The dreamer stands in the role of the character or image they are using. So if they chose to be a person they would close their eyes, imagine themselves as stepping into the body of the dream character and describe him or herself as the person they now are. As this is done notice any changes in how you feel as that person - or object - speak as them in the first person. Do not say, "I feel as if this person is ..." but say, "I feel I am and am doing .." As this happens watch any realisations or insights that arise and explore the person. Ask question of this dream character until you feel you have realised what it is of you that is being revealed.

So you could be the writhing body and the unseen intelligence.

Leswan – I feel Mind and Movement is my best work on LifeStream, though at the time of writing it had a different name. Also Liberating the Body adds some information.

I do not run workshops as it is foolish to do anything for a weekend or a few days. It needs dedication for a long time, and so people are not interested. I ran a workshop last year and it was fine but there was no follow on so it was wasted effort. All the examples came from people in long running groups.

I could do a one to one, but I would suggest actually working on a dream in that way as it opens you up and is a foundation for the practice.

Denise - Thank you for telling me this dream and your thoughts.

The great books do indeed sound like what is called the akashic records - the records of all lives and deeds. It sounds very real to me, and Christ standing by you as you read is a vital clue, as we seldom ever are able to read the akashic records unless lifted up in spirit by the presence of Christ - or as other races have called that presence Krishna, Mithra, Shiva, Quetzalcoatl and Osiris.

The war in Heaven is also very real, because powerful men and forces are always trying to manipulate us for their own personal ends and not for the good of humanity.

I cannot remember whether I recommended you read the following. It might open you to the wonders of your dreams. http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-in-your-dream/

Jane - I feel everyone has a destiny, but often we overlook it or cannot recognise it.

I feel sure that if you ask for signs of it it will show itself in your dreams. Also I often think that the 'long' view will give insights. By long view I mean skimming over the years of your life and getting an overall view of them.

Luciddreaming - I am constantly meeting the fear and the frightening or even hurtful images these produce.

Dreams do, of course, present it dramatically to get your attention, saying there is something wrong here. So I hope if you look into it it will rid you of the dreams.
