new..from indiana, america
« on: September 04, 2013, 09:03:00 PM »
Hi there..my name is josh, joshua, or joshy. I'm never good at opening my thoughts so maybe the best place to start would be to say thank you to Tony, for what seems to be a lifetime of helping people and then sharing all that knowledge through this website. I found this website when I became curious about  statement in the book of genesis..which led me to  ain soph. Since then my life and  understanding of my world has grown exponentially. I guess I just wanted to sincerely say thank you. I hope, as I begin a quest into yoga and meditation that I can continue to grow  and learn. I look forward to having some opprtunity to ask you for simple guidance as I begin this journey.

Josh – I too found Ain Soph a doorway to a new understanding, which has grown and put out shoots.

I feel sure that you will too.

Tony, I wonder if it would be  possible or rather if you would be willing  give me a basic outline or structure of where to begin with yoga and meditation. At this point I spend about thirty to forty  minutes a night mostly stretching, attempting easier poses, and meditation. I've read through your yoga book but still feel slightly lost. I mean..would it be safe to just do the stretches that I'm comfortable with and focus more on meditation and breath control? Should I not be doing any of it until I feel that I am living by the Yamas? Is there one order that is more beneficial than another? And..my last question would be, I feel that I rarely remember my dreams..if I'm even having them, is there something I can do to dream more often? I'll apologize in advance if the answers to these questions are available on your site somewhere and I just haven't stumbled upon them. Thank you for your time.
Josh

Josh - I will try to do so, but am pushed for time.

But it would save a lot of time if you told me what you hope to get from doing yoga. Think carefully.

Well, I think the main thing I look to get out of yoga is to release 30 years of emotional trauma, stress, and tension from my body. I would like to become myself. In the few weeks that I have been doing some stretches and meditation I have been able to quit smoking and am slowly working on a more healthy and nutritious diet. My attitude is slowly improving as well. I feel at more peace and calm, confident as well. So..I suppose to sum it up, I would like more of what I have already begun to experience, and to release the tension that's deep in my muscles and body and mind.  Also I am really into the meditation aspect of it all. Discovering the inner parts of my mind. Once again thank you so much for your time and thoughts. I'm honored to have your help.

Josh - Carry on what you are doing, but add some of the things I will mention. They are sometimes difficult to do, so need practice.

So not try to do them all at once, go slowly.

Try to explore each dream - it is the most helpful generally and is also a path in yoga. http://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/practical-techniques-for-understanding-your-dreams/ See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/dream-yoga/ You also need to read Exploring Inner Space - https://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/exploring-inner-space/.

Use the slow breathing - http://dreamhawk.com/body-and-mind/the-breath-meditation/

See if you can do this -  http://dreamhawk.com/body-and-mind/the-arm-circling-meditation/ Read http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/lifes-little-secrets/ before starting the arm circling.

Regrading Genesis and Ain Soph (The Unknown God) see https://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/the-secret-bible/

Blessings on your way. And come back if there are any questions as you go on.
