A Cult?

So I had a dream that I was with two other men and we were in a strange town. Apparently the town had been constantly attacked by a cult. We had been in the woods when we ran into a boy, no older than eight, who said that he was a part of the cult but needed help leaving. He was covered in black smudge or goop and was trying to hide. So we hid in a house, behind some chairs, and all of a sudden a bunch of people who were also covered in the same black smudge  from head to toe came in looking for the boy. And then I woke up.
