dream recall when using a c-pac machine
« on: January 18, 2012, 04:04:27 PM »
Does anyone have any information in regards to how using a c-pac machine (used for apnea) affects dream recall? A student of mine says she her c-pac machine is getting in the way of her dream recall. Thanks! lisa

Lisa – It depends very much on the user. But overall it seems to promote dream recall; the reason being that it gives you a lot of REM sleep remembrances. In other words the machine doesn’t let you sleep so well, so it holds you nearer consciousness.

Thanks, Tony! I've also learned that people with sleep apnea suffer from lack of REM sleep, so when they start to use the C-Pac they have more REM sleep as compensation. A friend who's been using the machine for over 10 years just got back to me and says she sleeps much better with it and she has no problems with dream recall. How well the C-Pac fits may be another issue. Thanks again! lisa
