Waiting

Looking to others or circumstances for your cue.

What are you waiting for? Is it worth it?

Some things are worth waiting for, but I have seen many people waiting for someone to acknowlege or hear them; waiting for love that never comes or is given; for success and the great suffering that comes when one waits in vain.

Example: “I also felt that people should be aware of and avoid acting and should wait for the action to come from other than their conscious decisions. I started doing this by myself, but felt the closeness of several people but not in a physical form. In this way I was led through several realisations. Most were more felt than thought. For instance I felt the quality of surrender necessary for an inner opening to work. It was summed up by Eliot’s, “I said to my soul be still and wait without hope, for hope would be hope for the wrong thing: wait without love, for love would be love of the wrong thing.”

As Elliot so rightly said –
I said to my soul, be still and wait without hope
For hope would be hope for the wrong thing; wait without love
For love would be love of the wrong thing; there is yet faith
But the faith and the love and the hope are all in the waiting.
Wait without thought, for you are not ready for thought:

So, the darkness shall be the light, and the stillness the dancing.

Idioms: Waiting in the wings; lady in waiting; wait on someone hand and foot; a waiting game; lie in wait. See: queue; waitress-waiter under Roles.
