My father was murdered 3 years ago and my grandfather passed away about 8 years ago. I had a dream about them a week ago and I’ve only dreamt of my dad twice since he passed away. In my dream I was outside, standing on the back porch. I got really upset but I cant remember what upset me I ran into the house crying and ran right past my dad and grandpa but I couldnt see either of thier faces. I ran into my old bedroom, & when I got into my bedroom I realized I was dreaming and that they both were dead. After I realized I was dreaming I start yelling ‘DAD.. I LOVE YOU’ but neither my dad or grandpa said anything. Then I woke up… My family members tell me when they have a dream about my dad and in every single dream he’s happy. I dont understand why my dream is different..

Dear Renee – Dreams in which dead people appear are sometimes expressive of our attempts to deal with our feelings in connection with the person who died; or our own feelings about death. When someone close to us dies we go through a period of change from relating to them as an external reality, to meeting and accepting them as alive in our memories and inner life.
Your dream shows that you are releasing (some of) your feelings that are part of losing your grandfather and later also your father in a very difficult and upsetting way.
It could be that it is “only” now that you are able to move on with the so called “stages of mourning” that are part of losing someone you love dearly.
I believe you do not see the faces of your dad and grandpa, because the only way you were able to deal with the loss so far was by hiding your feelings of sadness and with that you also hide the love you feel for your father.
Now that you have opened up and released some of the shock you must have felt and some of your feelings of sadness and let the tears flow, your dream expresses that you have also opened up to the love you feel for him.
Do trust that mourning is a process – http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/the-lifestream/#Open – and that you too can move toward meeting and accepting your dad and grandpa as alive and happy in your memories and inner life.

Dear Cindy – It could be what you are thinking; that your boyfriend’s mother is beginning to detach from this life and is being prepared for the transition so it will not be frightening to her.
I understand that it is difficult to let her go; yet giving your boyfriend’s mother assurance that it is all right to let go whenever she is ready is a great gift you can give her at this stage of her life.

I DREAM LAST NIGHT OF MY DECEASED BOYFRIEND IN OUR YOUNGER DAYS ON A FOOTBALL FIELD HUGGING ME TELLING ME HE”LL ALWAYS BE WITH ME AND IT FELT SO REAL.

    -Anna - Tony's Assistant 2015-09-18 13:16:22

Dear Alicia – In a way it IS real because he is a part of your inner life; your inner world.
Each person we spend time with, fall in love with, make love to or grow up with, or even with animals, we develop an incredible and often invisible bond.
You dream of him because while you were sharing your outer life with him, you experienced millions of memories, situations, conflict and learning experiences. So you carry them with you as memories, lessons learnt, love or anger still trying to find a way of being absorbed.
So in a way it is not your boyfriend you are dealing with but yourself – you dream about him and use him as a symbol of what you picked up from the relationship.
You cannot have a mass of experience with someone and move away without it influencing you.
So in the Game of Life, “he and his love” will always be with you.

Tony…. I had a very disturbing dream last night ,
The parts of dream , I remember are a group of people mostly young woman, teenagers to mid 20″s I think. One girl had a can of spray paint and the other young lady was pregnant she was rubbing her stomach, stating her baby was dead the other girl spray painted her stomach with a silver color paint the other girls who gathered around her, asked her what was she doing , all of a sudden a small fetus with a head and nubs for arms and a small body with nubs for legs emerged from her, and fell to the ground I started crying and she moved the fetus to an area out of the way this seemed to bother me, emotionally about the death of the baby.. The remains of the fetus was cover up towards the end of dream.

Patricia – This type of death dream is often dreamt by mothers whose son is becoming more independent. Please read http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/questions-2/#ChildKill

But a child can also represent what has been created by your partnership – the son. In that case it suggests there is a feeling that there is something wrong in your partnership.

I keep having horrible dreams of me dying in the hospital room while trying to give birth to my child. and I have been having dreams where it`s the same scenario but instead my fiancée keeps telling me I had better let our child live and die to keep it alive except I knew this time I would pass away if I kept the baby the dreams are very vivid and they keep scaring me.

    -Tony Crisp 2014-11-16 12:58:02

Rachel – You didn’t say whether you are actually pregnant or just a dream pregnancy. It makes a big difference. I need more information because dream symbols are like words, they have several meanings and also are different in different situations. You can be mad in an insane asylum, or mad about a guy – completely different settings.

Also pregnant with a child is very different in a dream. For a pregnancy or child can represent the state of you relationship – in other words something you create together. So your dream might be saying that you fiancé is asking you to give up yourself, your way of life and be his/him alone. Are you willing to die for him?
