Burglar Intruder

This might indicate fears or difficult emotions arising from within you in a way that threatens you. If this applies it could indicate neglected parts of yourself which if met could enlarge who you are as a person.

The burglar might also suggest the loss of valuable talents or qualities that you have robbed yourself of through your behaviour – or been robbed of in some way during your growth and development.
But some burglar dreams are about the dreamer being the burglar:
Example: It being dark outside. In the window were displayed a number of colour transparencies that Bill had taken of an artist’s work. They were abstract paintings. On the left a panel of the window was opened and we entered the showroom, looking at the transparencies. Then suddenly a voice spoke from a loudspeaker on the ceiling. It said that we had set of a burglar alarm, and police were on their way. We hurried out the way we came, hoping to escape the police, but as we did so the voice said, “You can’t escape. I have seen you and know what you look like now – that porcelain one with a broken nose.” I knew he was referring to me, and felt he must be watching through a closed-circuit television.
The voice was the voice of the dreamers conscience, saying he had done something wrong and couldn’t escape from his feelings of guilt.
The burglar and intruder also frequently depict the fact that sometime in your life you have experienced shocking intrusion. This may have taken the form of people forcing you into experiences you fought against – such as sometimes happens in dental or medical operations where you feel violated or broken into. Or it could be a sexual burglary during which you were broken into in that way.
Female dream: Sometimes repressed desire for or fear of male partner or sex; or desire for a better sexual relationship. See: robber; Dreams are a reflection of your inner world
Burglar alarm: Something is happening that you are not aware of and are being warned of in the dream. Look at the events in the dream to define what it is. It can also mean, if you yourself trip the alarm, that you have engaged in activities or feelings that you have an inbuilt warning against. This is not to say these things are ‘wrong’. It might be that your social training and cultural taboos are being triggered.
Useful Questions and Hints:
If I am the burglar, what is it I plan to do or steal, and what is that saying about my hidden intentions?
What do I feel about this intrusion, and do I connect any past events or underlying feelings in myself with that?
Have I been repressing something in myself that is now emerging and I feel threatened by?

I dreamt that I didn’t go to work because I thought I had the day off and I was worried about being confused and actually having to go. I was inside my appartment with a neighbor that is male, my roomie and a friend from work. Out of the blue, three guys came in and asked for a glass of water, they were trying to conversate with us and I didn’t feel it right so I started analyzing their behavior. The oldest of them started seeing with detail every single thing that was in my house, he was helping himself with a mirror to get more access to shelves. So I told him in front of everyone that I knew he was doing that so he could come back later and rob us! He admited that it was his job and that I should’ve been grateful because they weren’t going to harm us, just take everything from us. I replied that it was not fair that they took away everything that we’ve worked so hard for, that they had no idea how hard it was to live alone and eat tuna for dinner in order to be able to save, that being appart from our families was a serious thing and living in a crappy apt. when you have a beautiful house back home is painful, that I knew their reality might be another one but mine was also hard and it wasn’t fair for them to question it.
So they pretended to understand and started to leave, I was crying and left toward the bathroom and told my friends to please make sure that the burglars left. Then it hit me that they might come back and I was right, they had now weapons and they were determined to take everything, they were taking away every door and window first. So I ran to the patio and called the emergency number but a Hotel answered, I then called my father who lives on the other side of the country, 16 hours away in car, he said to be calm, that they were going to come in anyway, that I should breathe and pray for them not to harm us and that I should find a way out. I was looking at the patio and I felt like I could escape but then I thought of my friends and how I couldn’t just leave them there! Then I thought “Okay, I’m too frightened, I want this dream to be over, I should wake up now”, and just like that, I opened my eyes!! I’m too disturbed by this. I got to work this morning and my boss said that she dreamed the exact same. We have not experienced anything of the sort.

Last night I dreamt that I was home alone in mine and my fiance’s new house. He was over at his mother’s and I was cooking for him to come and take the food to her. In the dream I got the urge to lock the door and close the curtains that were over the door for so.e reason. Then put lf nowhere a huge lumber truck pulls into the yard roaring louder than any truck I have ever seen. I freaked out and ran and called the police then hung up and went to find a place to hide, but everywhere I went the blinds were missing and the curtains were open. I had just spoken to my fiances mother about sending him to get the food and he showed up and came in the house and held me as I freaked out. Then I woke up before finishing the dream.

I had a dream where I was driving in my car and a robber takes the car at gunpoint and drives us to his secret hideout with his accomplices. The crazy part is when we got there, I knew some of the hostages already there – they were my friends. One of my friends, in real life, is the type of person who is scared to do risky things. In the dream, that friend also had a hidden gun… And no plan to use it. So I told her I needed it and she told me where to find it. The dream starts panning fast as I ran in each room trying to find supplies for our escape. The robbers then start piling us in their white, windowless van. Next thing I know, it crashes off a ramp and into a big body of water. And then I woke up. About to look up gun and lake dream meanings.

I had a dream that there was a break-in at my house, but it was a much bigger version of my house. The break-in caused all of my family members to panic, but I didn’t recognize most of the family. After I captured the intruder, the intruder took off her mask, and it was my girlfriend…I haven’t told her about the dream because I thought it’d be weird…but…what does it mean?

I am in the later stages of a divorce. I dreamt that in the night while I was asleep, I heard my home go off, i sensed someone was in my home but I was so tired I could not not wake up, it was as if i was drugged, I thought it was my ex-husband but could not open my eyes or wake up enough to see the person. It was frightening because I could sense it was him but could not wake up, at one point in my dream I just laid my head down to sleepy to even keep trying to wake up…

It ends up stuck in his face and he dies and i felt so horrible since all i was trying to do was stop him not murder him and then i look to the side n see a dead baby laying face fown and thatd when i woke up and i feel horrible.

Dear Kayla Rico – In your dream you feel threatened by an unconscious content in your mind of which the burglar is a symbol.
And so you choose to hide behind a wall; the wall is a symbol for your beliefs or attitudes that protect you so you do not have to face whatever you are hiding from.
The burglar is also called the Shadow. The Shadow is any part of ourselves that we reject, and so do not allow sufficient expression in our life. We may so dislike aspects of our nature we fail to recognise them altogether and instead see them in other people and criticise them.
The shadow develops in us, according to Jolande Jacobi, because as we grow and absorb our culture, we naturally repress parts of our nature as they are not acceptable to parents or society. These grow and mature in just the way our conscious personality does, through experience and further information – except the shadow has a life under the surface like any socially unacceptable organisation, criminal activity or individual. But often it is the functions or instincts in us that date from prehistory, when present day social and sexual restraints did not have survival value, that make up a large part of the shadow.
    See also http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/the-archetype-of-the-shadow/
Your dream expresses that with killing the burglar/your shadow – instead of integrating this aspect – you also kill a vulnerable part of your inner child and you are not facing that either; “and see a dead baby lying face down.”
There are many ways in which you could come face to face with your inner baby or child.
    See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/self-observation/
These might include the arising in your daily life of inappropriate responses to situations. In a warm and loving relationship you experience only pain instead of pleasure; you feel terror that your partner will abandon you; you hit out emotionally or even physically at the person who is actually closest to you; you withdraw from the world or lack any motivation to be a part of society or be in contact with others; you feel enormous longing to find love, but it never seems to be there when you relate to someone.
Those are signs of the undealt with emotions and pains of childhood, but there are many others. But one of the clearest indicators of the hurt baby or child within is from your dreams.

Kayla Rico, you woke up feeling horrible and I trust that is what it needs to stop doing this to yourself and to allow your dreams to help you bring your inner child back to Life again.
    Anna 🙂

I just dreamt in the day, that a burglar came into my house by cutting parts of the back door grill, but it did not look like my house. However, he did not get to take anything because my Mother and I stood up to him and threatened him and somehow he stepped outside the house. Shortly, before he left, some people in a car came to him, to give him bad news, and he tried to come back into the house to rob us again, but I locked him out. He threatened to come back in the night and also kill us. I then called someone I was previously seeing, but had no intention of calling, to help us replace the grill, because we did not have much time before night fall. Then the dream ended before I made that call.

I dreamed that I was leaving my house to go for a walk early in the morning as I looked back I saw two burglars one going into the garage the other into the house. I was trying to call for help on cellphone but had a old phone and didn’t know the number for the police. I went next door to the neighbour and rang their bell incesently. When they came I was trying to tell them what was going on, but the words wouldn’t come out of my mouth. I was trying to shout, but I couldn’t. I looked up and saw the burglar go into my father’s bedroom.

    -Tony Crisp 2015-02-08 10:28:58

Helen – The dream points out that you have very strong feelings that you have never been able to express about your father. You want to express those feelings but you have not been able to, although you feel there is an emergency.

It seems important to me that you manage to release the tension holding you back from what you obviously need to express. So I suggest you try the following, but do so with the feelings of the dream in mind – http://dreamhawk.com/body-and-mind/methods-of-awakening/#Voice

During this whole summer, the beginning of the school year and for the past month, I’ve been having a recurring dream experience with burglars–it’s always a different dream but the same concept. I don’t remember most of them, but I remember three most vividly.
In the first one, I was talking with my parents in their bedroom and when I entered our living room, I saw a man coming in through the balcony. I started swearing at him and telling him to get out of the house or I won’t just call the police, I’d kill him myself (my dream ‘self’ tends to be very haughty) when the man suddenly starts shouting back at me, as if insulted, and he tries to chase me through the house.
In the second dream, as I enter the living room, a cloaked figure enters from the balcony nonchalantly and as I try to run after him, he walks to the kitchen, where my mother had been cooking. I grab a mop and attack him with that but then he breaks out crying, saying he’s an illegal immigrant and needs to get money so that he can go back to his country, and my mother hugs him and tells him to calm down.
The third dream is the strangest because I knew that I was dreaming… I woke up from bed and went to the living room, which was as we had left it when we all went to sleep, except that the shutter door of the balcony was wide open. I go to shut it, because I was afraid of a burglar entering, but as I turn around, there’s someone pointing a gun between my eyes and I grimace in boredom and say “Great, another burglar dream?” Then the scene changes to a whole new environment which I don’t think I should include here….
Based on what is written here, I think I know what the interpretation is… but I would like your opinion!!!
