Face

How your face appears in a dream points to how you see yourself, your self image, the fears or feelings, even anxieties you have about how you appear to others and yourself. It can also show the expression of or hiding of inner feelings and attitudes. It can be defined in two words – ‘identity’ and ‘communication’. This is because not only do most of us believe we are how we look, but also through our face we communicate to others what we feel and think. See Dreams are Virtual Realities

The face, especially if you are looking at yourself in a mirror, can also mean that you are facing yourself – facing up to yourself, or need to, ‘face yourself’. This dream often occurs when you are ready to really look at who you are and what facets of yourself you might be ignoring or even hiding. It is a sort of seld assessment or self analysis; but it might only be reflecting an aspect of you that needs attention and is usually about your inner world. See Inner World

Someone else’s face: How you see them and how you relate to them. What you feel and think suggest what your opinion of them is, and how you relate to them inwardly. The face could also point to what feelings and memories of them you carry within you. See Characters and People in Dreams

Blushing: Unconscious response to things. Feelings that you usually keep hidden, or are not usually aware of yourself. Often about strong feelings about another person you really like but are not showing, except for blushing. Something wrong with face: Sense of not being adequate; fear of how others see you. If it is someone else’s face it probably depicts how you feel about them, or your intuitions about them.

Changing ones face or head: Changing ones attitudes or decision about something; being uncertain or ‘two faced’. Having different aspects of your personality or seeing another side of yourself. Change the wording to fit seeing someone else with changing face – your to their.

Hiding ones face: Being ashamed of something; low confidence or uncertainty; being afraid of how others see you; hiding motives or feelings.

No face: This is probably what is called a shadow figure if you see it on another person – parts of your nature or behaviour that you usually keep hidden or do not admit to. If you are faceless then it could suggest either that you realise your real self is pure potential without particular characteristics, or you feel a fear of about loss of identity or uncertainty about who you are.

Example: Was looking in a mirror. Suddenly a shadow appeared on it. At first the shadow seemed threatening or frightening. Then I saw it was only a directive, a face,  figure with its arm and hand extended as if pointing. Looking behind me I saw that the shadow was cast by a featureless cat or animal. That is, its head was completely smooth, without eyes or ears. At first I thought it could not see or hear, but then realised it must be able to, as it was pointing to a man out in the rough sea. The man had a lifejacket on, so was in no immediate danger. But the sea was very rough. I went out and brought him in, dried him off, put him in my house to recover, then phoned the police in case they needed to know.

Here the dreamer was looking at himself in the mirror, and was directed to realise that although there wasn’t any immediate danger, he was fighting against heavy emotional forces. The dream tends to not directly tell us about ourselves, but uses another person of event to point things out to us. See Characters and People in Dreams and Exploring Dreams -Techniques to use

But being faceless in the role of a helper, guide or nurse can have a much deeper meaning. It suggests that it is an aspect of you that has given up its egotistic state of being important, a leader or even a saint. As such it becomes a Christ like figure who becomes a servant of Life – washing peoples feet. Such a dream figure is worth listening to.

Idioms: Blue in the face; egg on my face; face down; face the facts; face the music; face up to; face value; fill your face; flat on one’s face; face lift; fly in the face of; get out of my face; in your face; keep a straight face; long face; poker face; pull a face; save face; shut your face; two faced; wipe that smile off your face; written all over your face. See: head.

I was going to take a shower but noticed water was already in there and my cat was submerged (there was barely any water tho) but moving around when i came and then he jumped out. I noticed something was off but at first i went to drain the water since for some reason he went to the bathroom in the water and it was so gross. I then went to him and noticed half his face has been cut off but no blood (it was only the features half of his face, i heard him meow somehow too) and i started really freakin out trying to put it on. I ran to go get mom but could not say anything just looked terrified and yet she just smiled at me. She was in an all white huge bathroom she just cleaned listening to music. It was strange because this all took place in my apartment but that was the only room that was not correct. so i tried pulling her along because i wanted to fix it or take him to a vet or something but she was confused as to what was wrong….and then i woke up breathing heavily and terrified

This didn’t really answer my question, all or most of the time I am able to control my dreams and what happens within them easily, the same with controlling what I do in dreams but i can never see or remember what my face looks like. This is super weird and it’s been happening since I was little. Can you please enlighten me on what’s happening.
Thanks, sabrina

Hi – It would help you to understand your dreams, if you would read – http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/questions-2/#Summing and also http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/features-found-on-site/ which has so much information in.

Nothing can replace your own ability to understand your dream. With a little effort you can do this by practising what is described in – http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson or http://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/getting-at-your-dreams-meaning/

    Tony

Sabrina – You are not really understanding dreams by controlling them.

In life and sleep we have two powerful actions working in us. The first is our waking experience based on having a body, its limitations, vulnerabilities and a particular gender. Our second is the power that gave us life and continues to express as spontaneous movement in dreams, in our breathing and heartbeat – our life. This I have given the description as the Life Will.
While we sleep our conscious self is largely or totally unconscious, and while we sleep an dream our voluntary muscles are paralysed – therefore another will or motivating force moves our body. So we have a Conscious Will, and what I will call a Life Will. The first one we have experience of as we can move our arm or speak in everyday activities; but the second will takes over when we sleep. See Sleep Paralysis

This Life Will or motivator has been active for millions of years and we see it working all the time in animals. We are partly split in half because we are often opposed to what our Life Will in us wants. So the only way to express what is good for us is in dreams when our conscious will is largely passive or we are restricted by being tied down. Dreams, even apparently unpleasant ones, are actually means of pushing us toward healing and growth. To control this action means we are stopping our real growth as a person.

Faceless is a way of saying that your personality is not the real you. To understand this please read http://dreamhawk.com/interesting-people/animal-children/#Program

Hi – I am stopping from answering your posts fully – but will try to give hints; sometimes long ones because I quote from masses I have already put online. Also, I need to take time to update the site – dreamhawk.

It would help you to understand your dreams, if you would read – http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/questions-2/#Summing and also http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/features-found-on-site/ which has so much information in.

    Tony

Tesi – I see your dream as a way that our dream creator tries to help us understand things we find difficult in life. You said you saw and understood your boyfriend’s situation.

He was lost in another world because he himself doesn’t understand what he is facing. I quote from a feature http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/integration-meeting-oneself/#Shaman

If you haven’t realised that everything you experience when using a psychedelic is a symbol, and if you are not used working with symbols then you are entering a half world, a dream world, such as ancient people lived in and understood. But for the western mind it is simply a dream that you do not understand. It will be intriguing even uplifting, but it needs another level to climb to make it useful to you. For the drug opens the possibility of dreaming while awake, which also means the door opens to nightmares where you meet the fears and terrors you have never meet or dealt with. Other hallucinatory substances such as ayahuasca should also be seen as both healing and as stated in the Wall Street Journal, “They can be dangerous. And should be avoided by those who are bipolar or schizophrenic, since it has been known to trigger psychotic episodes.”

So some how I got to Ireland or the UK. Cobble stone roads and brick houses raining out. Mother and father were planning my birthday which never happened and for whatever reason later we were going to chuck-e-cheese (a game place for kids) which also never happened and there were a bunch of people there I didn’t know in the house. Kids I didn’t know. People with stuck smiles like the masks from The Purge but they were their actual faces… it’s had me fucked up all day. What does this mean

-Fredrik 2017-02-16 16:20:05

I dont remember much, but this is what I do. I remember going to my grandma’s house after being attacked and had my face cut in half from my mouth and down under the adamsapple, a clean cut in the middle of my face. Then I remember it just hanging to each side, like my skin was peeled off, if u know what I mean. I held it together and after some time with my grandma it started to grow. (We were always ready for someone to come to take/kill/hurt us). I looked at myself in the mirror after it grew a bit and I could see my teeth through the skin on my chin and a fine red line going down my throat. Dont remember much more.

And, I didnt wake up. I wasn’t scared, I wanted to try and sleep again to se what would have happend. I didn’t really feel the pain, I felt pain, but not really u kno. Peace

Hi

I had a dream, where in I was in some function / mostly someone’s wedding, and I am interacting with everyone around , say for more than an hour. Suddenly I realise my face is covered with some mask or cream , patches of it and I realise I have forgotten to wash my face and I feel embarrassed because people/ friends with whom I had been interacting did not tell me.What does this mean? I got this dream around 5:30 am , just before I got up for the day.

Thanks

I dreamed of 3 black faceless people sitting in a small compact car on the road ahead of me I knew they wanted to harm me. The word that came to mind was they were delusional. I cried out to the Lord Jesus to save me twice and when I turned behind me. I seen a man although his face wasnt black I couldnt make out his features I could tell his spirit wasnt good but as soon as I looked at him his face started squiggling like you see on tv when someone is about to have a dream and I knew God was changing his spirit and he extended his hand and said come with me until they are Gone and i woke up

The information wasnt so sufficient,
I dreamt last night i was walkin into a lodge of
The free mason’s…. And there i saw alotta people(particularly an old woman with all her hair grey) they were facing a kind of a ritual who were dressed in white robes and singing
I couldn’t see the ritual cause the full view of ut was blocked by a wall…. As i made a left turn i came to an alter or stand meeting a man who was waiting to give me information, and then mabey ask me to take an oath… Because in the dream i came to the lodge to join them………

Last night i prayed to GOD because am a Christian to give me a vision on deciding whether i should join the free Mason or not… Because my dad is one… And out of curiosity i wanna join only -if it is pleasing to Jehovah (GOD) can u help me out on this???

I had a dream of me and my bf we we’re walking on a hall and on the right side was a view of ocean it when we looked down it was so high and my bf asked me if i want to go down i said then mermaids starts showing up then suddenly there’s 1 fat old lady and a man showed up we fought them and we win, we entered a elevator but before that the fat lady become nice and trying to get in the elevator she looked so scared but we didn’t let her then we click up and close the door ,then while we we’re going up i see myself staring at me with creepy smile. ( i dream about the hall by the ocean before but now was different and scary)

    -Tony Crisp 2016-10-23 9:43:34

Lyn – A dream about the choices you can make in becoming a woman in relationship with your boyfriend. The corridor depicts the journey you make in moving from one place to another – adolescence to womanhood probably.

The ocean to the right is a choice you can make, for the ocean represent a full life experience. Mermaids show your female self still not quite emerging from its potential – like and acorn if not planted has the potential to become a great oak tree. If it could dream the acorn, might see a beautiful oak emerging from the sea.

You are face by many choices, as we all are, about which direction to take in life. The fat old lady represents the choice to live just for physical pleasures, too much eating, drinking and sex.

You then see yourself with a creepy smile – this might suggest malicious secrets you keep hidden. To be sure use http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson

This doesn’t answer the question I had.

What does it mean to dream of people, but they none of them have a face?

    -Tony Crisp 2016-10-17 9:42:43

You have not given enough information for me to understand your dream. Things to remember when writing to us with your dream:
    1. Write down anything that you think might have triggered the dream or links with it in some way.
    2. Put in any insights you have about people or animals in your dream – it has to be the character of them as they appear in the dream.
    3. Please let us know your age and gender.
    4. Describe any emotions expressed or indicated in the dream.

what does it mean to dream of being in a cave sitting across from a woman with a dark face speaking another language. In between us was a hole that was about the size of a small bowl. Fog was around this hole and coming out of it was a weird looking creature…every time this creature came up it dropped something that looked like a beautiful pearl and when it did the old woman would scoop it up with her left hand that was “deformed” or alien and eat it. This woman spoke with this creature. I would try to scoop the “food” she was eating for myself but every time I did the creature would sting my hand and she would laugh this awful laugh. After a while of this back and forth, this feeling come over me that is difficult to describe…like another self coming through and it came like a wind breathing out into the presence of the woman with the dark face. I was suddenly two people at once and I spoke saying,”mmmuuhh, mahh ah mah…na na-na..” (my voice was different as well, it was male and female sounding, low and a bit slow,..I can’t really describe it.) Then she jolted her head up and asked her creature if it heard what she had just heard….the creature said, “yeeess”. I smiled, then I snatched the “food” from that annoying creature and ate it, being amused by her confusion and at the same time I was sad and a little disappointed that someone as old as she felt to be spiritually, was just as lost as I am. I continued to speak this language that sounded African but I don’t know what I said, I didn’t understand one word coming out of my own mouth for some reason but there I was speaking what might as well have been chinese…and she spoke back in English saying, “whas Gods wans whis yu ?”,(her accent was thick and definitely African) she said what does God want with me?….then I turned into wind and woke up. I’m glad she said this in English because I didn’t understand her when she spoke her own language…that sticks with me though. What could God possibly want with me? there’s no mystery in me, no answers. Soooo….wtf?
