Carried Carry Carrying
General carrying: Using your ability to deal with something. It can also point to what you are ‘carrying’ in life – such as carrying a grudge or taking responsibility or your child or elderly person. It might also show you supporting or giving your strength to someone or something. This usually suggests you posses, or are carrying something within yourself. What it is depends very much on what you are carrying.
In some dreams carrying something might simply refer to your life situation, as when we use the phrase, ‘I carried on.’
We also carry hopes, attitudes, a grudge, a plan in ones mind, a love for someone. All the time we carry about with us the sum total of all we think and feel – the burden of being who we are, so what you are carrying in the dream is important to understand. See Inner World
Being carried: A desire to drop responsibility or a return to childhood in a relationship. I could also show you being in a dependent relationship or lacking any personal motivation.
Some things and the influence from other people motivate us and so we are carried by them over rough patches, or influences, often subtle, carry us forward.
Example: Because he was my favourite singer, I got excited when I saw him and went to hug him. He gladly accepted my hug with much enthusiasm and we began talking. This was nice because he was very humble and it felt like we somehow knew each other and had this connection. Later in the dream, He ended up carrying me around the house for some reason.
If it is an object like a chair or carpet that we are carried on or by, or an animal, try to define what the object suggests or the animal represents.
Carrying someone: Treating someone else, or some part of yourself, as a child or invalid; feeling you are ‘carrying the load’ in life, work or a relationship; over zealous as depicted by idiom ‘carrying things too far’.
One can of course be ‘carrying’ a baby as when one is pregnant. And some things we carry are tasks that we willingly undertake and are part of our life-work – what we are working at in our character and learning.
Carry usually suggests you posses, or are carrying something within yourself. What it is depends very much on what you are carrying.
Example: My father died when I was 3 – 1973. I recently dreamt I was carrying my father’s coffin at his funeral. On the way to the church I dropped the coffin and the lid fell off exposing his face at the advanced stage of decomposition. I replaced the lid so as not to grieve my mother further. But I followed my father’s spirit into the gaps of the coffin. Rosina.
Here Rosina is still carrying powerful feelings about her father, and they are not healthy.
We are all carried every day of our existence. We seldom acknowledge it, but we are carried by Life. We take it for granted, yet we ought to be grateful for such a living presence. The You that you call yourself, with a name, is only a tiny thing. It is moved and tossed around by all manner of drives, ambitions, emotions, fears, temptations, worries, love and desire with its pains and hopes; it is something we take so seriously and get carried away into awful situations; we take many sorts of pain killers to deal with ourselves. Things such as alcohol, coffee, medical drugs and street drugs, are all used as a sort of crutch, and yet we are still prone to break down, as can be seen by the number of people who need antidepressants or are totally lost in themselves. See Avoid Being Victims
If it is a positive living thing: Can you acknowledge that you have this energy or feeling, and can use it to your own benefit?
If it is a dead thing: The example above shows how we can carry a lifeless thing around in our memory, or our feelings. If such a thing appears in your dream, ask yourself where in your body or feelings are you carrying this deadness. Why do you need to hold on to something that is not living and growing? Can you now let go of it?
If it is an object: Is this a useful object? Does it suggest a burden or a possibility. Is it useful in some way? You need to ask yourself what it is you are carrying around. Is it a waste of energy, such as old memories that are not productive? If so can you let go of it? If it is a useful thing, what talent or skill do you have that you may not be using?
Idioms: Carried away; carry a torch; carry it off; carry on; carry the can.
Useful Questions and Hints:
What feelings are so much a part of me that I constantly carry them around? (If this is difficult to answer ask someone who knows you well.)
If looked at as an analogy, what does the thing being carried suggest?
What can I learn about myself from this?
What does what I am carrying suggest – bucket and spade suggest holiday with children for instance?
If I am being carried – who or what is carrying me?
What can I learn about myself from this?

I dreamed I was carrying around my grandfather’s head in scarves. He’s deceased in real life. In my dream I was waiting to bury his head until everyone else was gone. I was carrying him around when my child saw his face, I guess with the cover I was trying to hide him or the death from my child. He was scared, my child. Overall this dreamed unnerved me. My granddaddy passed pretty quickly from a bad heart, I still grieve him everyday. I didn’t take my child to visit when he was sick or the funeral to protect him. He was so young he doesn’t understand death and I didn’t want him to remember his great granddaddy like that.

Jessie – My personal childhood experience if not being shown my dead grandmother, was it resulted in my having no idea of where my grandmother had gone. I went on a lifelong search for her. It might be best to tell your child what death is that is observable to them.
My observation is that while alive we continually move. At death whatever has moved them has gone. You can explain that in whatever terms you believe the life is that moves us and fills us with feelings. I worked in a hospital nursing elderly men. I saw a lot of them die. The moment of death was extraordinary; because it was obviously something had left them. But my life has allowed me to experience and explore death, so I have no fear. Dear Tony, I had one of the weirdest dreams, and I’d really appreciate your help. I was at a school that I knew I had been before. I walked along very dark corridors. The classrooms doors were large dark doors and were all closed. In my imagination, the inside had to be large rooms with large windows that let in a lot of sunlight. The first corridor gave way to a second, equally dark, but at the end of it one of the classrooms opened and a teacher came out and greeted me warmly. He seemed very familiar to me. I kept on walking and suddenly I was outdoors but still at the same school. I walked on very rough concrete and the path was very narrow. I turned a corner and I almost fell because there was a steep drop on my right. I thought the school was so irresponsible regarding its students. I wanted to leave the place. However, I found myself going up the stairs among a group of elementary school girls. I thought it was inappropriate for me to be there and that one of the teachers would confront me for being there. I thought I would tell her my daughter was a student there and while they looked for her, I would leave. Next, I was on my way out, but I found a group of students gathered over something. As I was passing by, one of them told me somebody has forgotten a calculator. I Iooked up and I saw one above me. I told them that they should give it to someone. I kept on walking and I was surprised to see the calculator appear in my hands. When I got to the school gate, I gave it to the doorman. Once outside, I found I was in a deserted place, which was totally opposite to what I expected -a school surrounded by heavy-traffic streets. Suddenly I found myself climbing out of the same school I had left. Then I jumped into another place whose top floor looked like those onion-like Christian orthodox churches. I was on top and inside there were small circular spaces enough for one or at most two people. After some time, women started arrving and they filled these circular spaces. I wondered what I would do once the woman whose space I was occupying arrived. In my mind they were witches. Then, a man started a ritual. He was a man of magical powers and I stood next to him. He threw something onto a container that was below on the ground. Every time he did a passing with his hands, something like gold shone on the pot’s surface. After some passes, fire came out of the man’s mouth and went to the pot. Suddenly I was on a deserted street. I turned right on a corner and I saw a group of men. One of them had a guitar. When I passed by, they started playing and singing. I also started singing in spite of myself. I got to the other corner singing. I turned aroung to go back to the grouo of men and at that moment I saw a lion about fifty meters from where I was. It growled. One of the men said nonchalantly as if answering what was on my mind “it’s a lion”. It started coming in my directrion in a mean mood. There were other lions also walking to the men, so I decided to turn the corner after all to avoid them but when I did I saw a whole pride of lions which on seeing me stood up and came towards me. I went back on my steps toward the men and I saw them shooing their lions away with some kind of whips. At that momento I noticed that all the lions the ones behind me and the ones the men had scared started closing in on me. At that moment, I thought I’d do the same the men did: I would shoo them away. I started yelling at them saying shoo shoo!. And I woke up. The weird thing was that all the lions were male.
I was carrying a beautiful woman on my back. I felt she was happy and so was I. At the same time I has a container full of washed clothes, which I asked a group of people -my relatives- to put them on the line. This weight of this woman was very negligible. I looked at her legs and how they were holding to my body and that made me happy. Since I had the container with clothes, I used my arms to tighten her legs around my body. I felt we were going to get married.
Hi – The answers I give arise not out of me thinking up things to say, but from fifty years of exploring dreams in depth. So some of what I write may seem wild. This may be because dreams arise and are experienced by a level of your mind or awareness that very few people have any concept or experience of – usually called the unconscious. Life dreamt in its creatures millions of years before even humankind awoke and developed self awareness or language. So to understand dreams we need to leave our thinking minds behind and go into our feelings and reactions – a much older level of awareness.
But it would help you to understand your dreams, if you would read – http://dreamhawk.com/news/summing-up/ and also http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/features-found-on-site/ which has so much information in.
Nothing can replace your own ability to understand your dream. With a little effort you can do this by practising what is described in – http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPersonor http://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/getting-at-your-dreams-meaning/

Jaime – A beautiful dream. It is almost certainly that having washed the clothes – which describes clearing out negative feelings such as despair or self doubt – it cleared the way for meeting the beauty you have actually carried for ages.
It is described in http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/archetype-of-the-anima-the-female-in-the-male/ – the real soul mate.
The marriage may take time, but it will certainly appear in your dreams.

I had a strange dream last night I was in a room filled with people. There were games & food & on the one side of the room there were fruits in buckets. This man who was dressed up like a clown came in from behind me & asked me if he could pick me up. I said sure, & when he picked me up he grew tall & taller. He stopped at the top shelf & told me to grab the fruit from the bucket & when I did this people began to take pictures & talk about us. I noticed I grabbed strawberries & apples. Not sure what the meaning is behind the man growing after he picked me up.

Laura – You were open to being social and relaxed with others. The clown you met was probably a crazy, unpredictable yet wise part of your nature. It is capable of expressing tears, mischief or laughter.
To be picked up can mean many things, but in the context in the dream it is like a child being picked, which would explain the change in size, for you are an infant. Or it can mean the image has grown in importance or its impact on you.
Grabbing fruit suggests that on the top shelf, shows the importance of the many levels of your abilities.
I had a dream that i was inside a building, it was raining outside. a girl i know (she doesn’t know me in real life) suddenly appeared beside me. I carried her upstairs and down, until we went out of the door the rain stopped. She rode off in a public transportation vehicle and waved at me.
What does this mean?
Hi – I am stopping from answering your posts fully – but will try to give hints; sometimes long ones because I quote from masses I have already put online. Also, I need to take time to update the site – dreamhawk.

Jay – It sounds as if you have had a difficult time feeling settled in a relationship. So you dream of meeting a girl who takes your fancy. This then shows how you go out with her in your dream – go out of the building – and the difficulty/rain stops.
You need to be aware that this moth be about your inner female – see http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/archetype-of-the-anima-jungs-view-of-the-female-in-the-male/
But it might also be worth plucking up courage and ask the girl – any girl out. See http://dreamhawk.com/relationship-sex/surviving-love-and-relationships/

Hi – I must take time to upgrade the dream dictionary, so must halt from answering your posts – I started revising the dictionary in 2006, and haven’t neared the end yet. I believe someone else may start giving interpretations.
So, for a while I urge you to read http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/i-am-no-longer-interpreting-dreams/ – It describes ways that can help you. And often it would help too if you looked at http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/questions-2/#Summing

It sounds as if you feel having a baby will be a heavy burden. But in the end you managed it.
