Satan

The power of material values in life. The things in life we cannot control, such as anger, sex desires, ambitions, fear, worries, etc. Those things that lead us contrary to the innate nature.

Steiner has depicted these forces as dual, calling them Lucifer and Ahriman. Lucifer is the power of egoistic desires, pride, looking after self first. My work, my religion, my beliefs, are better than yours! All these selfish traits lead to inner conflict, conflict in the world, and are the work of Lucifer.

Ahriman is described as the power of ignorance, of reason without feeling values, of dry intellectualism, the emphasis of materialism and a science that leads to lack of aim, lack of contact with all life; an education that is full of facts, but without any wisdom or insight, that does not develop the power of intuition. See: Devil; Obsession; Demon.

Hi,

I have been having a pretty messed up reoccurring dream for a couple of years now. It doesn’t happen every night but when it does its so strange. I am in the bed where I have fallen asleep and I am alone but something is touching me, arousing me and i start calling out Lucifer. Please tell me what it could mean, I wake up feeling scared, aroused and ashamed everytime I have this dream

Hi – It would help you to understand your dreams, if you would read – http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/questions-2/#Summing and also http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/features-found-on-site/ which has so much information in.

Nothing can replace your own ability to understand your dream. With a little effort you can do this by practising what is described in – http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson or http://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/getting-at-your-dreams-meaning/

    Tony

Susan – To start with, most people do not understand that dreams are ones own imagination, fears and hopes creating dreams. All the people, animals, places you see in your dreams, are simply your own feelings, fears, hopes and wonder projected onto the screen of your sleeping mind as images. So, it makes sense to take the image of your dream person, thing or animal back into you and own it. In that way, you are meeting and dealing with the things about yourself you are not owning or conscious of. That is why dreams are often difficult to understand, because we are hiding things from ourselves. To do this you can use Being the Person or Thing

So you must have taken in words or people talks or even events, that put fears in you about being aroused. In your dream it is simply a mirror reflecting your fears back as an event, so no one else was actually touching, but dreams can produce wonderful virtual reality where we are all the people and animals. Also Lucifer is simply a fearful idea you have that haunts you.

I have had several experiences of seeming possession by the devil – then one day I experienced – Looking up to Christ a quizzical feeling arose. I looked behind this “in their reality” and found it was only a facade, an image, that I had pushed over. It crumbled and disappeared. The saying was gone with the Devil. Then God too. They were all images, projections of Self, and I began to laugh at the whole ridiculous situation. They are like shadows standing before the Light. Only that which is Real can survive the Real – Ideas of the devil are shadows.

You must have suppressed a desire to be aroused – and such desires create devilish dreams. If you look the devil/Lucifer in the eyes and challenge him, his power disappears unless you continue to deny the truth by lying to yourself about your real feelings.

Hello! I had a very odd dream the other night, I dreamt I was in a large house and captured by Satan’s son? Anyway I was in the back of the house hiding behind a wall and peaking down the staircase towards the front door. I was feeling afraid of what was going to be done to me. Then Satan can in and the next thing I know I was lying down and they were next to me, fingering and pleasuring me etc. it freaked me out and I’m not really sure why I had it. I have sexual dreams occasionally but never like that

Hello i had a very weird dream where i was holding 2 gold coins with lucifers image imprinted on them. Im my dream i was trying to hide them, as i felt followed. What could this mean?

-Meliza 2016-12-07 2:13:28

So before I had the dream my mom got divorced with my step dad. But before that we used to live in a two-storied house. My everything was so nice looking my room was big and had everything I loved.

Well when they got divorced mainly everything I had was left their, my dad stayed living in that house for a little while, Then he moved so mainly everything stayed almost a year. I have had move but my real dad died a long time ago when I was 5, he was very violent, but with me he was the most sweetest dad.

Even so he died of cause cuz he drank, did drugs, all he had went mostly to my mom and a young guy friend she used to have back then that are now together.

Right so we live with him now. I was very mad and depressed at him. I actually was going to commit suicide for my past and what was happing in my life that was so horrible so one night I had a dream that I was back at my house but the whole sky was very dark grey the house looked depressing house there was really nothing else but my house and a piece of road as I walked in my house the door looked so old fade scratched the walls were harsh.

I went inside there was dirt leaves all over the walls same as out side door and outside walls everything was grey my books and movies were torn, everything was broken I went up my stairs, my stairs didn’t even have carpet like it did. it was broken old wood and the bathroom looked like a slaughter house. my brothers room looked the same as u turned right to my room everything was there neatly except for there no carpet all of my posters were grey and dusty my bed was to there were leaves on my floor as someone opened the windows for years and forgot them.

I went towards my closet door then everything went dark but I found a candle that was lighted up for some reason. I grasped it u wasn’t that scared as I picked it up the closed door was opened. I went in then saw a figure of deer legs and a body of a buffalo with long nails the he as was goat shaped the horns and its nails long and black and with its deep creepy voice told me to come here.

I was happy though I went in and closed the closet door behind me we sat on the floor. I started crying because I missed him so much he hugged my tightly wiping my tears and said don’t cry my beautiful girl I will always be here for u okay and when the day you are ready ill be here waiting for you and we both be happy again ill give u signs that I’m still here and that this isn’t a dream he kissed my cheeks.

I said okay we had a daughter and “father moments like me pulling his horns and we both giggling as and I feel sleep resting my head on his belly and I woke up.

A after since I had that dream I’ve been experiencing lot of unusual things and bad dreams of people like my mom and her bf with my brother dying but me.

Hi – I am sorry to suddenly stop replying to dreams like this, but I must upgrade the dream dictionary – I started the revising in 2006, and haven’t got near the end yet.

So for a while I urge you to read http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/i-am-no-longer-interpreting-dreams/

Also here are so ways you can find your dreams meaning – http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/questions-2/#Summinghttp://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/getting-at-your-dreams-meaning/ or http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson

    Tony

To start with here is the feature you were looking for – http://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/demon/

I have worked hard to help people understand their life experiences – including demons, devils and Satan – all of which I have met. I explain it all in the latest feature http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/dimensions-of-human-experience/

I quote some of it here:

    • He flew/travelled across the countryside, and then suddenly was in his home in London, hundreds of miles away. This illustrates the tendency to see all things as they appear in the three-dimensional. In the 3D world you have to travel, and so he/I saw himself travelling to get home. This accounts for a huge amount of misinterpretation of the ‘bleed through’ experiences. In the 4D world where everywhere is present, so in fact there is not ‘out of body’ experiences, because one doesn’t need to go anywhere. To properly understand this see http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/questions-2/#TalkDead
    • He was not a double of his body in bed but was dressed differently. Also, a very important point is that he flew because he believed he had to. In fact, the rules of dreaming apply to the fourth dimensional experience. I said at the beginning that you can hold a body part in your hand, but you cannot hold a thought or emotion, because they are occurring in a different dimension. Also, in this dimension, as described, his thoughts and belief CREATED the world or experience he was in. This means that whatever we think or believe is a reality at this level – the mind. So, if you believe in demons or vampires, heavens or hells, then you create them at this level which includes the dream world and the world of the dead. So thoughts or beliefs that you are a failure – or success – become a reality in your mind and emotions. Anything you believe you cannot do is like brick wall in your way. This is so VERY important, because you are CREATING yourself.
    • All the images, people, animals, places we see in our dreams and 4D experiences, are simply your own feelings, fears, hopes, senses and wonder projected onto the screen of your mind as images. So, it makes sense to take the image of your dream person, thing, or animal back into you and own it. In that way, you are actually meeting and dealing with the things about yourself you are not owning or conscious of. You can do this by using http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPersonOrThing

I had a very weird dream two nights ago. I feel as if I should tell you that the night before, me and my parents had had a very large argument where they accused me of despising the church and God, we are Christians. I was very offended because I love God and my church. Okay so that night I had a dream where I was laying down in my room. It was dark, and I couldn’t stop feeling like there was something in the room with me. Then my mom bursts in my room saying, “The demon is here, he won’t leave you alone.” Stuff started moving around, lamps falling, closet shaking, etc. My mom hugs me and starts to sob. She was terrified but I wasn’t. I was annoyed. Annoyed at her for crying, annoyed at the demon for making her scared, for the fact that it wouldn’t leave me alone. In the dream, it felt as if weeks had gone by, where this demon had been getting more aggressive, to the point of physically hurting me. I was very annoyed. Suddenly the scene changes and I’m in a very nice pasture. The grass is very green, the sky is a beautiful blue, and the temperature was perfect. I was wearing a white dress. Then I look around and my mom and dad are there with me. So is my friend, I don’t know who she is but in my dream she was my best friend. And weirdly my boyfriend, this is weird because I don’t have one. Then I start feeling like something horrible is about to happen. Then my friend starts coughing up blood, then she dies. I start to cry and sob. I knew the demon ha done it, so I decide to call the source, Lucifer. I start yelling and screaming, “Lucifer! Come here!” Over and over, until he does, I feel his presence. I tell my family to run so he doesn’t kill them, but my boyfriend won’t leave me, I hug him and tell him he has to, but then he starts laughing. His eyes turn red and I realize, he is Lucifer. He’s been him this whole time. This part get’s a little blurry, but I clearly remember the sky turning stormy and gloomy, and the grass turning brown, it got really cold, but my body felt on fire, as if I was standing in flames. I remember Lucifer grabbing me and hugging me to him, he was telling me something. I don’t remember what, but I felt very afraid. It was the only time in the whole dream I’d felt fear. I was so scared of what he was telling me. I wanted to die because of his words. Then he smiled very evilly and I woke up. What does this mean?

I dreamed that someone said “I can smell satan on you”….I had attended a wedding for my niece and her partner earlier in the day and while I don’t feel like I have any feelings one way or another about her choosing a woman to marry, I am now feeling like maybe I oppressed something that came out in my dream OR that the fact that I don’t feel negatively about it, that others feelings about it should be my own? I am not sure. What do you think?

-Nilla 2016-03-14 20:04:14

Hi, I had this dream that I was in a room and Satan was there. He took my hand and smeared gold and silver glitter on my hands, but as he was doing this the room began to change and swirl and I saw Jesus praying for me in the distance. Do you think this dream has any meaning Mr. Crisp?

-Elyon 2016-03-13 15:22:09

I usually don’t believe that dreams hold any value to the world… I’m 19, athiest.

My dream was really blurry. From the beginning and became shockingly clear. I was standing in a group of my friends. We were oddly dressed… Not sexual… But…. Out of place.
There was another group of people in front of us. And we started fighting. I mean full blown like ninja vs ninja or vampire vs vampire fighting.

Well this guy came at me and I suddenly felt… “In the mood” . you know how when you read a super hot/sexy part of a book and it gets you worked up.
Kind of like that.

Anyways he didn’t hit just kind of forcible kissed me.

It became super sexual…. Really fast.

The last thing I can remember was looking up at him and his face being… Calming… But in a terrifying way.

If I was better with words I’d explain.

Idk what to make of it.

First I was dreaming I was on a flying pirate ship and I was hiding from the captain because he was after me. Then I woke up when the phone disconnected, I went back to sleep and I was dreaming I was in this house with a man I didn’t like and he was doing things I couldn’t see, he was very charming and he said to me well you just keep pushing me away I can wait to impregnate you with the twins. I said and how do you plan to do that since I have no uterus and he said well my dear that’s one of the gifts I have been blessed with- it was then I realized it was lucifer and all of the sudden as if to prove his point I was drawn to him and he was hugging me- I could see over his shoulder and I said I don’t understand how I can be so attracted to a man I don’t like much. He replied to that well we could get started on those twins now if you like and I said no no it’s all good to wait. He said alright then . I was woken up at that point.
What does it mean?! I should tell you that I am going through a nasty separation and a recent break up with a man who is desperately trying to keep me in his life – he was texting other women and telling them he loved them and wanted to marry them so I kicked him out- he says he loves me but I am not sure it will ever work because he also has pissed off everyone in my life in some way.

Hi. I had a dream last night and I woke up frightened. I dreamed that I was arguing with my husband then I saw my self looking at another “myself”. So the face of “myself” who’s arguing with my husband became satan’s face and was laughing while looking at me. So in my dream I saw myself transforming to Satan and in my dream I was so scared with myself that I might transform to being Satan again, Please help.

    -Anna - Tony's Assistant 2015-10-17 14:46:16

Dear Sandy – Your dream does show that there is enough awareness so that you can see what is going on in your inner world.
    That is a wonderful start.
I feel it will be helpful to read this article – http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/identity-and-dreams/ – so that you can understand the value of being able to observe yourself in your dream.
I trust it will also help you to lose your fear for Satan, which is nothing more than a symbol in your dream for “a temporary feeling state”.
So Satan in your dream has nothing to do with what you might have learned and believe about who or what Satan is.
As you have read in this entry Satan can be a symbol of many feelings/thoughts/attitudes and you do not share what the argument with your husband is about in your dream.
Because we are dual beings we all have an inner Angel and an inner Satan and both have to be accepted as part of our nature in order to feel whole.
Sometimes the Satan in our dream reflects that there is an autonomous complex at work.
A modern view of the personality says that our mind is made up of many modules which are quite distinct. These modules, such as the sexual drive and the ability to speak, usually function in a way which is reasonably integrated. But many areas of dissimilarity are evident if we closely observe the workings of our own responses to life. Because we each hold certain ideas about ourselves – our self-image – things we do which do not express this self-image may shock or even frighten us. Actions arising from a module of oneself which does not express our accepted self-image, may give rise not only to fear, but also a sense of evil, or being possessed by evil.
    See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/autonomous-complex/
A way to get to know this “Satan” part of yourself better is to try “Being the Satan” – http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson – and allow it to express itself. Then the next time when this feeling state arises, you will not be taken by surprise anymore, or be afraid of it, because you will recognize it. Recognition will make that you will be able to learn to manage this part of yourself with awareness.
Let me know if you have any questions.
    Anna 🙂

Hi,
I’m a 30 year old, I’ve had a normal life nothing to big, nothing to little… just enjoying life with family.
With that say, since i was 10 or 12 years old I’ve always dreamed with satan, demon, deviel whatever his called. He always over takes control of my body and laughs and mocks me when I pray in my dream, he usually swings me around in my room and I can’t never see him I just hear his voice and he makes his evil presence know, over the years I’ve gotten used to dreaming with him, I’m not to scared of him but I wish it could stop. Does this have a meaning?

-Renee 2012-04-18 15:21:43

I had a dream a few nights ago about waking up in my bed and Satan was standing beside it and he was holding and rubbing a hairless cat. He was very pasty and shiny/sweaty looking, almost like he was about to melt. I remember feeling fear at first then I prayed and he said something but I do not remember what it was and then he disappeared. I don’t know if this is significant but I am allergic to cats. If you could provide me with some insight on what this may mean, I would greatly appreciate it.

    -Tony Crisp 2012-04-19 12:30:29

Renee – It means that dreams arise out of your feelings, your fears and also your best wisdom. They are a magic mirror showing how a slight change of attitude or feeling can change your dream from fear to peace. Satan and his disappearance were all created by you – unconsciously. What else is there but your imagination which can cause you to feel afraid and then banish such fears with a few words?

    Please see: http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/what-we-need-to-remember-about-dreaming/

i had a dream last night i found out i was the devil without knowing it myself and after i found out in the dream i could feel horns under the skin

im really not sure what it means any help?

    -Tony Crisp 2011-06-04 8:03:18

Stephen – The more I understand people’s dreams the more I see that as humans we have polarities. It is a law of nature – the north and south poles. Such poles are a way of keeping balance, and if we swing too much in one direction there has to eventually be a swing in the other – unless we keep a balance between the opposites.

So its sounds as if you are becoming a little devil, and maybe you need to. But within us we are ALL things – animals, scenes, buildings, angels, devils, things and of course people. They are all there is our dreams, along with every sort of behaviour too. So do not be alarmed – unless it become an ubalanced series of dreams.

    Tony

-Sevaura 2010-11-28 22:30:35

Hello,
I’m 16 years old and I had a rather dsturbing dream a few nights ago. Perhaps you can give me some insight?
It began like any other dream of mine, blury and obscure, hard to remember fully. Then, it suddenly became all too clear. I was at home; it was clean and everything was calm. I was standing with my parents, maybe one of my siblings, I can’t quite remember. I wasn’t angry at them or anything, in fact we were happy and content hroughout the dream. We were all very happy, yes, but towards the end of our conversation there was an undescribable sickliness pervading the still air and it came out of nowhere. my brother, I think it was my brother suddnly became really scared and disquieted. He was tugging desperately on my sleeve, as if he ws tryng to warn me. I kind of pushed him aside and ignored him.
My voice became gutteral and hoarse. I smelt some rich, discusting stench all over me, like sulfer; the smell was overpowering. It was as if i became Satan. The thoughts were not my own; they were destructive and evil thoughts. I just stopped talking to my parents. They looked at me questionably. First, I sprang foward towards my mom. For some reason, I (or Satan) wanted to hurt her. I was saying all these wierd things to her, tryng to scare her or something. She wasn’t at all afraid though. She was smiling and ignoring me and it made me very angry. That’s when i turned to my dad with a twisted smile(I never have bad feelings or my dad or mom, so I don’t know why I did this). I kept telling them that I was Satan and that he was in danger. I sprang foward towards my dad now and laughed and spat in his face. I could tell he was a little afraid even though he was standing straight and facing me. I was ridiculing him, but I cannot remember what I said. I was screaming, “I’ll kill your daughter” an things like that. I wasn’t afraid though, I was possessed maybe. My brother was not crying, but he was hyperventalating. I never turned towards my rother though. I was only targeting my parents oddly.
I woke up screaming, and I couldn’t sleep that entire night. It was a very disquieting dream.
Maybe its stress about school, or some inner feelings that I’m concealing, but I’m not sure. This is not the fiirst that I’ve had a demonic dream like this, but it worried me greatly because I was actually the Devil himself! Scary…

    -Tony Crisp 2010-12-01 13:12:11

Sevaura – I believe the clue to what your dream means is when you say, “I never turned towards my brother though. I was only targeting my parents oddly.”

Sometimes you can live a very nice life and so miss out parts of you that need to be expressed. Obviously I am talking to you without knowing much about you, so I have to go with clues. You are sixteen, at time of incredible growth and inner change, when you are moving toward full woman’s desires and feelings.

The devil or Satan is used in our dreams to represent powerful natural instincts we have held back or ignored. That is why many saints were troubled so much by visions of devils and Satan – they had all held back their natural sex drive, or their natural growth process. That coupled with your natural desire to become more independent could lead to your dream. To make the break with parents we often have massive hate things arising. It is a way to give ourselves the excuse to leave them.

I guess this will sound as if I am talking about a different person than you. But we are such strange creatures, and devils are easily got rid of with a little common sense.

    Tony

PS _ Of course dreams tend to dramatise our feelings.

    -Casey 2014-12-18 10:42:41

It’s just the devil trying to get in your skin.
He’s playing with he has so done that to me
It only happened when I became a Christian
And as my faith was getting stronger you just
Sorta don’t worry about it because I know gods
Got me even if its just a dream.
