Floor Floors

Your support, your physical life. You can be floored or overcome. Lying on the floor and finding it difficult to move represents being overpowered by gravity and life experiences. Basic things. Humility.

The floor also represents basic attitudes and confidence. The floor often appears without much emphasis in many dreams. This suggests it is depicting the present situation, attitudes, feelings or environment you are in that you barely notice. For instance first floor or second floor would suggest a different situation in which the events of the dream are taking place.

This points to your basic attitudes, principles and confidence; what supports you and you may take for granted, such as health, good will of others, the house you live in. The different floors of a house or building indicate different levels of your body or mind – such as physical sensation and process at the base; sexual and emotional level; thought and speech; intellectual understanding and thought; expanded awareness beyond the body senses. But the floors can also suggest different departments of your life. See: House.

In the US the first floor is the ground floor in the UK, and so on up.

Ground floor: Practical everyday life, sexuality; hips and legs.

First and other middle floors: Internal needs, rest, sleep, hungers; the trunk. Also the emotions and ‘heart’, so relates to feelings about other people and relationships.

Floor and floorboards: Basic attitudes and confidence; what supports you and you may take for granted, such as health, good will of others, the house you live in. The first floor or second floor would suggest a different situation in which the events of the dream are taking place.

Top floor or attic: Thinking; the conscious mind; memory; the head. Sometimes depicts higher awareness that sees beyond the limitations of our senses. Occasionally contains something frightening. See: Attic.

Example: I am in an unknown old building with unsafe floors. I vaguely feel it belongs to my long dead father. Around me are rats, which have young. I am hysterical because they keep multiplying. People with me, unknown, although my husband is there, don’t seem to care about them. I usually wake shouting because one of the rats touches me. I am not frightened of rats when awake. Dorothy C.

This clearly shows Dorothy’s feeling of lack of support. The dream goes on to say the connection is with the long dead father. This is unclear because Dorothy has not yet made it conscious what the fear is that arose in herself from her relationship with her father.   Useful questions and hints: Is the floor stable or sinking? What is my relationship with the floor in my dream? What ‘floor’ am I on and how des that relate to my life? See Avoid Being VictimsNothing Can Hurt You in Your DreamsProcessing Dreams

I dreamt that im in a new building but when i got inside, there’s no floors just only stairs going up for supposed to be floors. Outside the building its look awesome.
What is the meaning of that?

Lavinia – Our dreams continually try to introduce us to new aspects of yourself, for it is not true that the final frontier is space, because is the mind. For within us is a whole universe of things to explore. We do not see that because we think of ourselves only as a biological creature and can only realise things within certain limits. But we forget that no plant or creature grows from a dead seed, and each living seed carries within it all the past gathered from all its forebears. So, the seed in your mother’s womb is as old as and even older than human kind, and you carry that wisdom or memories in you. But in this life you developed a new brain, and the memories you gathered this time are what you built your personality from, but beneath that is a very ancient self.

Also we believe that ancient self is beyond knowing, but of course many people as their awareness reaches beyond what they feel is their normal self feel scared. Such resistances cause us to create awful dreams and fears as a means of avoiding our own inner world and its wonders. We feel that we will be swallowed up and we will die. It is important to say that when we meet the experience of powerlessness through becoming aware of the hugeness of your Life, which we are usually unaware if, it feels like something alien or attacking and it is a shock.

Back to your dream, it is a way of introducing you to your huge self, the ancient self. It is a new building suggesting that it is a new thing you are entering. There are no floors but there are supposed floors for you to discover, if you dare to climb the stairs. Climbing in a dream also takes effort, and because many people as their awareness reaches beyond what they feel is their normal self feel scared, you might meet that. See https://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/dimensions-of-human-experience/

But I think not because you have seen the awesomeness of what you are glimpsing. So remember that dream images are like icons on a computer screen – so you have to ‘click’ on your dream images to make them come alive. Thinking about them doesn’t work. You need to open yourself to the magic of them. To make them into the wonderful gateways they are you may have to learn certain skills such as – https://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson and https://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/opening-to-life/

I had a dream I was in an alien hotel, on the 7,653,133 floor, trying to get back to my floor (no joke, I’ve had this dream repeatedly with several variations, like a chute that falls into the void and one where I try to find my sister and escape the dream). I don’t watch much scifi so I don’t know what would cause this.

This portion of the dream was a hall with a steep incline and a rail. I hold onto the rail and pull myself up. It’s hard but I’m doing it. Then I notice people behind and ahead of me. We were told to take off our clothes except outer underwear and Kay down on the floor. I do so and the guy with his girlfriend just belowe me or to the right of me started playing with my foot thinking it was his girlfriends. I moved my foot when I noticed what was going on. I’m not feeling like any of these explanations fit.

Dear Dawn – Thank you for sharing your beautiful works of art with us!
    Please also read http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/dream-yoga/
The ideas that are shared on this page come from all the dreams that Tony has explored so far in which the symbol “floor” occurred.
Of course there are many more explanations and new insights are still added by him to the Dream Dictionary.
What makes a difference is the context in which the symbol occurs in the dream; http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/context-theme/
Unfortunately you only share a portion of the dream; the whole dream could have provided a clearer picture.
With the information you have given me, I see the dream as a way to open up to “more of you”; to allow more of your potential.
The hall is often a symbol of important change in a dream and in your dream the change may have to do with connecting with new people and/or ideas; like “the guy with his girlfriend just below me or to the right of me started playing with my foot.”
The steep incline may symbolise the conscious climb to higher attainment, wider view of life or opportunities.
What will be interesting to explore is if you sense a difference between pulling yourself up – “It’s hard but I’m doing it” – and lying down without clothes by using http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson
I believe that lying down on the floor – surrendering by taking off your conscious self and attitudes – could be a symbol for learning to let Life grow you; http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/opening-to-life/ and http://dreamhawk.com/news/my-body-is-a-moving-sea/
It would also be interesting to explore why you move your foot away.
What does your dream figure feel when “the guy” plays with your foot?

Thank you Anna!!! Yes…how funny…I woke up this morning feeling like I just need to live and allow God to work in me…I have been on a spiritual journey that in the beginning gave me such amazing dreams and visions…and now after 3 years it seems to have stopped and I pray, meditate, and try to become more connected…but not at all like in the beginning…my friend says I work too hard at it.
      – When the guy next to me was playing with my foot it was “oh…he’s confused..and thinks it’s his girlfriends foot”…
The wierdest part of this dream that really had me meditating on was this: after that I’m somewhere…and I look in a mirror and my eyebrows are gone and kind of painted in..and my eyelashes were partly gone..my face a little swollen…and in the dream I realized instead of using my usual make up remover I used NAIR which removes hair. Then I notice my neck is swollen and a somewhat masculine looking had gently touches my neck as if it’s inspecting the slowness. then I wake up…
I felt like taking off make up..my outside persona was a good thing, but it turned out disasters for me…the neck is the connection between mind and body and can’t figure out in reality what that disconnect could be…a slight idea is that I am going to physical therapy and could that hand be a healers hand or just pointing out the slowness?? Anyway..if you have any ideas I’d appreciate it…I felt really taken back by the NAIR thing and in the dream started washing it off..

Also, before the event in the hall on the floor I was in a big square room which could have been a theatre…I was sitting on a ledge in the room…a small kitten was above me and jumped down and there were other odd little creatures as well. Then a man above me jumped down and wanted to know if I had $20.00. then I entered that hall…

Dear Dawn – There are several symbols in your dream that may refer to “grounding”, getting in touch with your feelings again and integrating your visions and dreams in your ordinary every-day life; “started playing with my foot”; “my neck is swollen”; “a small kitten was above me and jumped down”; “Then a man above me jumped down”.

Working too hard on it may be the cause of disconnecting from who you are at your roots and you may have accidentally replaced the connection with your natural inner being for “something artificial”.
Touching “It” gently may help; http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/opening-to-life/
Perhaps you can also choose not see it as “I felt really taken back by the NAIR thing”, but rather see it as an important lesson that is part of your spiritual journey?

I dreamt I was jumping down a long red hallway. The floor was like a trampoline until I got to the end of the hallway and there was a tile room off to the end. When I jumped in I was relieved to be able to stand. The thing that was a little strange was that it was the bathroom. I was glad to be on solid ground though.
