Blanket

Physical or emotional comfort or warmth, or an attitude we can hide under/behind; an attitude or experience we are wrapped/rapt in. In this case the colour of the blanket would give a clue to what the feeling or attitude is. See: colours; bed.

Covered in blanket: Injury or feelings about death or withdrawal. A way of hiding what you are feeling or doing, or feeling a need to comfort yourself. It might even suggest a return to childhood feelings.

Electric blanket: Instant warmth. Fear of electricity for some people. A feeling of relaxation.

Red blanket: Often used in emergency situations so could have the associations of injury, accident or ill health; passion or anger. Sometimes it could indicate warmth.

Sharing a blanket: Intimacy; feeling closely connected with someone; sexual connection; wanting to be close to the person.

Wrapped in blanket: Slightly withdrawn or vulnerable; relaxed or passive; self comfort; feeling cold – lacking warmth; feeling injured, infirm or weak; hiding ones feelings or vulnerability.

Useful Questions and Hints:

What am I using the blanket for and what does that say about the way I am dealing with life at the moment?

If I am sharing the blanket am I easy with the intimacy indicated?

What colour is the blanket and what does that say about the attitudes or feelings I am wrapped up in? See colours.

I had a dream last night vivid about me my fiance and my best friend at a grave yard moving a headstone and covering the grave of a really dear friend that was killed over 20 years ago.

Hi – The answers I give arise not out of me thinking up things to say, but from fifty years of exploring dreams in depth. So some of what I write may seem wild. This may be because dreams arise and are experienced by a level of your mind or awareness that very few people have any concept or experience of – usually called the unconscious. Life dreamt in its creatures millions of years before even humankind awoke and developed self awareness or language. So to understand dreams we need to leave our thinking minds behind and go into our feelings and reactions – a much older level of awareness.

But it would help you to understand your dreams, if you would read – http://dreamhawk.com/news/summing-up/ and also http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/features-found-on-site/ which has so much information in.
Nothing can replace your own ability to understand your dream. With a little effort you can do this by practising what is described in – http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPersonor http://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/getting-at-your-dreams-meaning/

Brenda – You didn’t say why you needed to move the gravest stone. Was it to protect the buried friend, or was it to care for and give a marker.

You obviously needed you two companions as support. Also it seems to be an inner links with the dead friend, for a stone gives permanence to memory.

Dream of being under a blanket with others, being attacked by some otherworldly “spirit”. Not sure if it was the blanket or not, it was rippling and going crazy (the blanket). Dark all around. This scene replayed a few times where I’m getting attacked. I finally woke up but wasn’t sure if I was out of the dream because I was still seeing images of the dream. Asked my husband if he was there, he answers and I was relived.

Sera – Other world spirits such as that in your dream, are mostly aspects of you that you have not become aware of – like aliens also. See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/autonomous-complex/

The rippling I feel, is due to an invisible force moving you in way you do not understand.

In life and sleep we have two powerful actions working in us. The first is our waking experience based on having a body, its limitations, vulnerabilities and a particular gender. Our second is the power that gave us life and continues to express as spontaneous movement in dreams, in our breathing and heartbeat – our life. This I have given the description as the Life Will.

While we sleep our conscious self is largely or totally unconscious, and while we sleep our voluntary muscles are paralysed – therefore another will or motivating force moves our body. So we have a Conscious Will, and what I will call a Life Will. The first one we have experience of as we can move our arm or speak in everyday activities; but the second will takes over when we sleep.

This Life will can move us to speak, to move our body, and in fact do things that we cannot do with our Conscious Will. As Freud pointed out this inner will has full access to our memories. It can do so many other things that are described else where – See http://dreamhawk.com/interesting-people/superminds/

    -Tony Crisp 2016-01-29 10:17:45

No I spelled it correctly, because I am English, you know, the mother tongue. So as far as I am concerned you are spelling it wrong.

Last night I kept having this dream that something kept wrapping me in my blankets. It was scary, I kept having to wake myself up to stop it, I looked at my clock and it was 3am and I thought I don’t want to wake up this early but I know I had to kept waking up to stop whatever it was that felt like it was snuggling the blankets around my body. When I finally woke up at 7am the night light I keep on in my spare bedroom was off. I always turn this light on at night and there was nothing wrong with the bulb. It was very unsettling.. Can you help? thanks

    Hi there Jackie,
Due to certain similar experiences I feel as if you may have had a visitor from the Spirit realm. Whoever it was, was being very gentle and kind to you. they obviously wanted you to know they were there. It is also obvious that they were definitely not trying to hurt or scare you. They were your fears and not because of what they were doing.
    Blessings,
    Patricia
