Eagle
The eagle can represent several things, depending upon its context in your dream. It can point to the powerful, strong hunting instinct in business or in being a providing parent. It can depict protective strength; a male figure; relentlessness. Dominance or a male figure. It is certainly an uplifting power of feelings or ideas, a protective influence.
Because the eagle, like most hunting birds, has an extraordinary far reaching and inclusive vision, it can link with the ability of your own mind to at times expand far beyond the immediate sense impressions and concerns, to include years of life experience, and what you have learned when looked at as a whole. It can therefore represent spiritual vision. This is because the height of the bird and its steady gaze give it unusual perception and wide awareness. To touch such enormous wealth of experience is to be penetrated by the holy. Something so beyond the limitations of our own small personality enters us and leaves its imprint. See: Birds.
Sometimes it is seen as a threatening influence, if it is seen as connected with carrion. But if so it is you fears you are dealing with. Because it is a bird of prey it might appear as a threatening influence. Also this wider awareness may at times feel as if you are ‘carried away’. Being lifted into the unknown in this way can cause unwarranted fear. See The Life Will ; Dreams are Like a Computer Game
In some dreams it represents love, and its death or destruction can mean the death of love – as occurs in divorce. Cayce says that teenagers at a critical stage in life sometimes dream of an eagle pecking or tearing at their heart or thymus area. He says this represents the emotional entanglements that youngsters are subject to and incapable of understanding.
The Egyptian god Horus is a hawk or falcon, and was called the ‘all seeing eye’. This was because it represented the higher function of the unconscious to see all things.
Also the Hawk of Achill, or Seabhag, was one of the first animals to come into being according to Celtic mythos. He has an immense memory and is said to live a very long time. He represents knowledge and the search for it as seen in the poem The Hawk of Achill. He is an ancient bird, over 5,000 years old easily at the time it was written. He is also, as many birds are in mythology, a messenger between the realms. This means he can travel from this realm to that of the otherworlds of the myths he exists in. See Myths and Legends
Example: I was gazing at the sky and the stars, looking up to the sky. The stars were shiny and yellow gold similar to the colour of fire. There were a couple of stars similar to shooting stars but they almost looked like tiny pieces of fire display, like fireworks. It looked beautiful. Soon after the dream shifted to a computer screen and I was checking my emails. I was scrolling down the in box and then clicked on a message thinking ‘why didn’t I check this before?’ the message appeared with a picture of a huge bird and it looked like a Eagle (but the colour was white with a bluish/black outline) with its wings fully spread and moving as if the Eagle was flying; and there was a message underneath in tiny English letters which I read something similar to ‘ your life is going to transform’- I can’t remember the exact words but it was something similar to this and then I woke up. Could this be a message for the future /a prediction/ a omen?
Such beautiful dreams are a real indication of your potential and should be taken seriously. Of course dreams arise from a very deep part of your nature and are like seeds, and so need time to grow and open to the surface; so be patient and hopeful.
Idioms: Watch like a hawk; eagle eyed; like a mother hawk; watch me like a hawk;
Useful questions:
What do I know and feel about eagles?
How was the eagle portrayed in the dream?
Does this have something to do with keeping a ‘sharp eye’ out for something?
Is this about nobility, power and freedom?
Have I experienced an overview, or bird’s eye view of a situation?

I had a dream, I entered a huge old wooden barn. In my dream their were two birds one a beautiful 3 foot bald eagle that sat at the top of thr barn watching me. The other was a hidden bird that quickly let me know it’s presence by jumping from above to where I was walking this bird wasn’t all bird. He was all black had the head of an owl and the body of a man. This is when i woke up… I feel most of my strange dreams usually have a meaning behind them?
Dear Celia – I believe that all dreams have a meaning and a function.
See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/function-of-dreaming/
Your dream starts with your dream figure entering the huge wooden barn; a symbol for your connection with nature and its powers which also helps you to develop a relationship with your unconscious and so your inner world.
The bald eagle is a symbol of having an awareness of intuition and an inner wisdom “that is as old as time”, but you do not perceive it yet as an aspect of your mind, of your potential.
See http://dreamhawk.com/inner-life/using-your-intuition-1/
and
http://dreamhawk.com/inner-life/the-unconscious-2/
The birdman dressed in black is an expression of how this potential is developing in your unconscious mind and how it is gradually humanising things that are symbolised by your unconscious mind as qualities of birds; like seeing in the dark and finding/realising things that we are usually unaware of.
So you are growing your inner world and gaining greater intuition and wisdom.
It is important to realise that a dream is something that comes from a deep part of you; it is something that is working upwards toward being conscious. As such it often, like a seed, takes time to break through to the surface, and then it has to grow. So often dreams are not recognised for their full meaning until later; sometimes it takes months or even longer. The dream images are attempts to communicate something that has probably never been thought about or even been consciously thought about, so has never been put into common conscious thinking before. It is a communication from the depths, from beyond thought, and so any interpretations that are given by thinking may completely miss the point.
But the source of the dream, which is a process of Life, is intelligent in its own way, and will take part in any attempt to communicate. So exploring your dreams by entering into their imagery and attempting to understand them will be a two way process.

hey i had a dream of bid magnificent with enormous wings flying around me it was very huge blocked the whole sky and it was following me ..and when i touched it feather it was so soft and pure inspite of being of gold and it was warm and conforting and when i woke up i had the same feeling sensation ..what does this means ?
Dear Ammera – An inspiring dream!
The sky represents your mind and the unexpected things that can come from it.
The huge golden bird I see as a symbol of the limitless potential that is part of your mind as well and soft and pure is the way you express IT and this way IT feels warm and comforting to you.
I feel it means that when you approach LIFE – the inner world of your mind – with love and gentleness, then so will LIFE – your inner world – be to you.

Some years ago i v’ had a dream in which I observed an eagle’s nest with three young birds inside. I was behind the cliff and I was petrified watching mother bird continuously feeding the young ones. Three very hard years after, I had a dream about three grown up eagles flying above green meadows with big mountains on horizon.
What makes me worry is the fact that I recently had a dream about young eagle given to me as a pet animal in the cage. I had a strong feeling of fear about this animal even i sense that it is not going to hurt me. During the dream, bird transformed in a huge man with long dark hair cooking a dinner in my kitchen. Only thing that i knew is that this man possess a huge amount of energy that he wasn’t able to control. Somehow, this eagle dreams are starting to haunt me..
Ivona
Dear Ivona – I am sorry that I only got to your dreams just now.
Please also explore these dreams yourself, for I do believe that it will help you see how beautiful your eagle dreams are, what a wonderful (inner) job you did and that these dreams are not given to “haunt you”.
Also reading this entry will give you a better general understanding of your dreams

I trust that exploring these dreams will also help you to become aware why your dream figure in the dream was petrified; I wonder if the fear was about not being able to feed the young, which fear was not justified after all.
The way I see your first two dreams is that you used these three hard years to feed those vulnerable parts of you and your children if you have any – despite your initial fear – until they were able to grow strong and leave the nest with a much wider view of Life.
The dream about the young eagle in a cage I see as another “gift of Life” to help you grow beyond other fears too. I do believe we all have the ability to grow beyond our fears and beliefs we carry about ourselves that do not express who we really are and your first two dreams do reflect that too.

A cage or cell is often used to show the mind and how we live within certain ideas and beliefs and maybe do not wish to move out of them.
In your dream you do move out of the cage and then you are able to meet LIFE providing you what you need.
Unfortunately you do not reveal what your dream figure perceived as “Only thing that I knew is that this man possesses a huge amount of energy that he wasn’t able to control”.
The way I see it is that you cannot control LIFE, but you can surrender to the Life Will and allow IT to feed you; your inner world.

My dream… I am in a large green meadow with wildflowers scattered about. The sun is warm and comforting on my back. From a distance I hear, there he is,! I look over and see a baby eagle hidden in the tall grass. I grap him with two hands. I can feel his strength beneath his feathers. At first he struggles against my grip then he is quiet. I pull him to my chest with my left hand. I take my right hand and put my finger in his mouth and roll is around. Once again he struggles then stops and is still. As I take my finger out he snaps at me and bites the tip of my finger. I am surprised but not angry or in pain. I release the eagle with two hands and watch him untill I lose sight of him over the creast of a mountain. it is then I look at my finger and see a mark in the shape of a ‘v’. No blood and does not hurt. I
I had the most amazing dream about a baby eagle. I was in the first house that I lived in as a young adult (over the years I have hundreds of dreams of this small little green house, it has to be super meaningful to me). Last night I was in this little house yet again with my old roommate when a baby eagle flew in the front door. We were alarmed and dunk for cover. But the eagle was so kind and loving, to our surprise it sat on my shoulder. It was just so content to sit there, I went about my day with the loving bird perched right there. It had 8 very long tail feathers. It felt like a wonderful presence. In this same dream I was being attacked by my aunt (who has always been so cruel to me), yet the eagle stayed with me. Do baby eagles have a separate significance in dreams?
Dear Laura – In the context of your dream – “I was being attacked by my aunt (who has always been so cruel to me), yet the eagle stayed with me”. – I feel the baby eagle is about “the presence” you used as a young person in order to protect yourself.
Because it soars upward, the eagle is a symbol of the resurrection or ascension of Christ.
Christ can also be a very potent compensatory symbol. The purpose of compensation – an ego defense mechanism – is to protect the mind/self/ego from anxiety and/or social sanctions and/or to provide a refuge from a situation with which one cannot currently cope.
See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/compensation-theory-of-dreaming/
I feel it serves a purpose to explore for what purpose you like to use “your inner eagle” now; mainly because of this symbol “It had 8 very long tail feathers”. A tail symbolises what you carry within you from the past.
The number eight is usually associated with generation, degeneration and regeneration. In the growth of a seed, we can take the seed to represent number one, its relationship with the soil or opposite as two; the budding of seed into shoot as three or the point of growth: then the reaching above ground and rooting as four. The opening of leaves five; the development of stem six, the formation of bud seven, the opening of bud and fertilisation eight, the forming of seed nine. Thus eight can be seen as a climax where the old self opens to the development of the seeds of the new. It is a sort of death or degeneration into matter, that yet develops the seeds of the future, of spiritual consciousness. Opening up to your past and allowing and releasing the painful feelings that were part of your childhood, is what the number eight could refer to in your dream.

I usually don’t remember a lot of my dreams but I remember having a dream years ago about befriending a powerful eagle in my big garden. Only last night I had a dream where I learnt my brother had killed a little pig for food. To my horror I ran out into the garden for fresh air, where I noticed my dog’s poor covered in blood. I ran over to it to see what had happened. Then I noticed my old eagle friend ontop of my neighbours house falling over and in pain. It falls off the roof and over to me where it’s wing had been severely attacked and a lot of his feathers where missing. I comforted the eagle before I woke up. What does it mean?
i had a dream i was talking to someone in a red shirt covered in a jacket with a hood so i couldnt see the face… from behind an eagle appeared and floated in the air for a while… then out of no where the eagle with white eyes whit black outline started screeching and attacking… i raised my arms to protect the person i was talking to and the eagle grabbed me and started carrying me away as i woke up… when i woke up it felt like hands had my wrists and my arms where numbs.. i woke up screaming my heart pounding so hard that i could barely breathe along with crying… then my wife calmed me down an i cried to sleep…
Jeffrey – You appear to be someone who can easily express your emotions, which is good. But your emotions were so strong they caused you to feel fear, your heart pounding so you could hardly breathe. You felt you were carried away, and it is often said my emotions carried me away.
But I feel there is an explanation for why you felt such strong emotions. The red shirt and covered face suggests high emotions and an unknown situation. The eagle behind the man often suggest the unknown was connected with the man and the eagle is about a vast and higher perception of your life.
All of that is very positive except you were unprepared for it. I will try to explain – When we fall into sleep we lose any sense of self. We have dropped into that a deep forgetting of everyday life. Our personality has indeed, as far as we are concerned, melted away and disappeared. Yet the next morning we awake and all is well. We have survived. What we dropped into and survived was the unconscious. Most people are sure that there is nothing in the unconscious, because after all, they would remember it. Yet it is from this source that dreams emerge, sometimes scary like yours, so there must be something in there, a very active thing.
Even so, there is something that can take our breath away in confronting the unconscious. Perhaps this is understandable only if you have used snorkelling equipment to swim in deep water. Some years ago I was swimming along the edge of an island in the Mediterranean. I had my goggles on and was enjoying the view of the seabed about 15 feet below me. Suddenly, and quite unexpectedly, I swam over the edge of a sheer precipice under the water. I could not see the bottom of that precipice, and the water was very clear. It literally took my breath away and I scrambled back to shallower water. Then, only bit by bit, did I dare to swim out into that amazing depth.
I believe for some reason your eagle was trying to carry you away into the deeps of yourself. It was so new an experience it frightened you. Taking consciousness into what was unconscious is so huge and experience, contains so much, sweeps so far beyond our usual waking vision that we feel very much like I did as I went over the edge of that precipice.

I had walke across a field. I was at the edge and was going to go back. The bald eagle got beyween me and the field. Everytime I tried to go back the eagle would get excited and get in front of me. He was not trying to hurt me.
I had a dream that I was at my great grandmas house, in the backyard, when a golden eagle suddenly crashed into the house. I took care of it, and released it back into the wild, but it stayed with me. Whenever I went somewhere, it would follow me. We became good friends, and I became very depressed whenever it went somewhere, and whenever it came back, I would hug it and never want to let go.
Saber 🙂
What an interesting dream. I hope I can do justice to it with my interpretation.
I wonder if you know anything about the life of your great grandma on a conscious level?
In anyway, you got a glimpse of her life in this dream.
The dream shows that your gread grandma had the ability to get a wider view as is cleary described in this entry in the dream dictionary:

your great grandma’s belief system.

Now you have the possibility to make a change of mind, because you have healed and built a strong, loving connection with your inner eagle.
I wonder if you can see traits which have been passed down for generations, which are not helpful?
I ask because although you are not aware of what the eagle is looking at “whenever it went somewhere” it does make you depressed.
You can help your eagle by being willing to look at what it sees, without judging what you see.
To start with, that is the only little willingness our mind needs to change traits which have been passed on for generations.
So why not try being the eagle:

Have a nice flight!

I had a dream of a Big black bird with orange feet. I was with a group of people. The Bird which I do not know its type began to descend. We therefore quickly gathered in a circle. Then the bird picked up a stone and threw the stone in front of my feet. I answered; It is not my portion in Jesus name. Then I woke up. What is it mean?
I dreamt of two white eagle flying side by side beautifully and a few people were also watching. All of a sudden I notice a eagle white/black color descended and began to attack a man standing right beside me. I moved away and urged the man to try to kill the large bird, but then he struggled and later the bird fell on the floor. What does it mean?
I usually don’t remember my dreams but this one felt real. A larger than life eagle carried away a child about 7 or 8 years old. I remember hearing the screams of the child as it was lifted higher in to the sky hanging by one leg from the eagles claws.. The child kicked and screamed constantly until the eagle released him and he fell about a hundred or so feet and hit a pine tree, bouncing from limb to limb till it hit the ground. I felt so much fear and sorrow for this child until he hit the ground out of my view. as a crowd of people ran to find the child , I remember feeling a sense of relief that maybe the tree had broken his fall enough for him to survive. I then woke up feeling like this must have had a meaning. Just cant figure out what.

I wonder if you grew up in a family where “secrets” were sensed by you and your questions or your remarks about what you sensed were left unanswered?
http://psychcentral.com/blog/archives/2013/08/22/5-reasons-why-keeping-family-secrets-could-be-harmful/
I wonder if the flight with the eagle was merely an attempt to find out “what the heck is going on in this family”?
I reckon your trying to get an overview of the situation at home was not helpful, for you were still too young to make sense of what you saw and so it merely scared you.
I do not know how old you are now, but perhaps you can do a better job now with your intention to understand what is a secret still?
QUOTE:
“Filling in the missing puzzle pieces of a family’s history, current or past, is an adult responsibility and one that should not be taken lightly. All of us long to feel whole, to understand why we are the way we are”.
Good luck!

I had a dream that I was sitting on a hilltop, and a bald eagle flew over my head and landed beside me. It looked at me and I felt an overwhelming sense of calm.
In my dream I dreamt of two brown eagles soaring high in the sky and it was as though they were showing me the mountains and then onto a beautiful green pasture. and everything there was so so vibrant and peaceful.. the water was clear and pretty blue. what could that mean?
I dream/have a presence of an eagle being on my back…his wings are wide open like ready to fly…but his claws are hooked on my back…this is a reaccuring dream…i dont get the feeling like he is stuck or having me in his grip with the purpose to lift me up and fly away…he is just there…the grip feels physically painful…and in the begining it scared me…but somehow i dont want to get rid of it/him…i just want to find a way to coexist without the pain the claws are causing…
Eden,
I had such a powerful dream last night about a red eagle that everyone was scared of. I knew I could approach it, even though I was a little afraid it would harm me. It climbed around onto my back and stayed there, as if it was a part of me, and everyone was in awe.
Perhaps your eagle wants you to know that it is a part of you, and the pain is a reminder of that. Perhaps if you accept that you are separate, yet one, the pain will diminish?
Just my thoughts. Hope you can resolve this! 🙂
