Eagle

The eagle can represent several things, depending upon its context in your dream. It can point to the powerful, strong hunting instinct in business or in being a providing parent. It can depict protective strength; a male figure; relentlessness. Dominance or a male figure. It is certainly an uplifting power of feelings or ideas, a protective influence.

Because the eagle, like most hunting birds, has an extraordinary far reaching and inclusive vision, it can link with the ability of your own mind to at times expand far beyond the immediate sense impressions and concerns, to include years of life experience, and what you have learned when looked at as a whole. It can therefore represent spiritual vision. This is because the height of the bird and its steady gaze give it unusual perception and wide awareness. To touch such enormous wealth of experience is to be penetrated by the holy. Something so beyond the limitations of our own small personality enters us and leaves its imprint. See: Birds.

Sometimes it is seen as a threatening influence, if it is seen as connected with carrion. But if so it is you fears you are dealing with. Because it is a bird of prey it might appear as a threatening influence. Also this wider awareness may at times feel as if you are ‘carried away’. Being lifted into the unknown in this way can cause unwarranted fear. See The Life Will ; Dreams are Like a Computer Game

In some dreams it represents love, and its death or destruction can mean the death of love – as occurs in divorce. Cayce says that teenagers at a critical stage in life sometimes dream of an eagle pecking or tearing at their heart or thymus area. He says this represents the emotional entanglements that youngsters are subject to and incapable of understanding.

The Egyptian god Horus is a hawk or falcon, and was called the ‘all seeing eye’. This was because it represented the higher function of the unconscious to see all things.

Also the Hawk of Achill, or Seabhag, was one of the first animals to come into being according to Celtic mythos. He has an immense memory and is said to live a very long time. He represents knowledge and the search for it as seen in the poem The Hawk of Achill. He is an ancient bird, over 5,000 years old easily at the time it was written. He is also, as many birds are in mythology, a messenger between the realms. This means he can travel from this realm to that of the otherworlds of the myths he exists in. See Myths and Legends

Example: I was gazing at the sky and the stars, looking up to the sky. The stars were shiny and yellow gold similar to the colour of fire. There were a couple of stars similar to shooting stars but they almost looked like tiny pieces of fire display, like fireworks. It looked beautiful. Soon after the dream shifted to a computer screen and I was checking my emails. I was scrolling down the in box and then clicked on a message thinking ‘why didn’t I check this before?’ the message appeared with a picture of a huge bird and it looked like a Eagle (but the colour was white with a bluish/black outline) with its wings fully spread and moving as if the Eagle was flying; and there was a message underneath in tiny English letters which I read something similar to ‘ your life is going to transform’- I can’t remember the exact words but it was something similar to this and then I woke up. Could this be a message for the future /a prediction/ a omen?

Such beautiful dreams are a real indication of your potential and should be taken seriously. Of course dreams arise from a very deep part of your nature and are like seeds, and so need time to grow and open to the surface; so be patient and hopeful.

Idioms: Watch like a hawk; eagle eyed; like a mother hawk; watch me like a hawk;

My dream was very vivid. I know it means something but not sure what…. I dreamt that I walked into a house and there was a nest with one male and one female eagle in it. They were young eagles. The nest was sitting on a table and was not in a cage. The eagles were eating something like bird feed and maybe worms, like someone had fed them as if they were pets. What was strange is that the female eagle had on a wedding dress and the male eagle had on a little suit or shirt as if someone was trying to play “dress up with them”.

I had a dream that I saw children coming out from a wooded path. They stopped at the edge to look at and then poke at something. I went to see what it was and as I approached, they said it was a dead eagle. I bent to look and then gently pick it up in the cloth it seemed to be on. As I stood up and thought I had to find someone to tell about this, it suddenly flapped a bit which startled me. I realized that it might be hurt and/or was maybe playing dead so I put it down.
I don’t remember more but I feel like this might have some important meaning in my life.
Any suggestions?

I cannot find anything on my dream. I have always loved animals and admire eagles. Last night I had such a vivid dream about a bald eagle. I had an open window and was feeding it. It kept trying to get in the house. I didn’t want it in because it is a wild animals I just wanted to feed it, but it wanted to come in to eat. It seemed to like me and was aggressive about food but not aggressive in attacking me.

I dreamt I was calling to a hawk flying outside my bedroom window near the top of our large oak tree to watch for a bald eagle flying by- which he did and sort of overtook him but not violently. I was enraptured by the sight and the the eagle came to me through the window – his beak became very long but he never came all the way through. We talked but I didn’t remember what about

Hi.. I’m not sure what these dreams mean.
The first dream I had of an eagle was a few years ago.. in the dream I was on a beach and I noticed an eagle perched on tree top and I was trying to look at it because I was excited to see it but this man appeared and kept standing in my view to block it. He wore a cowboy hat and I couldn’t see who he was and thats all I remember for that one.
Just lastnight I had another dream. There were 2 parent eagles, a juvenile and 3 babies. My neice and I went into a house boat and saw the older eagles leaving because we were there. We were opening the shades to look out the windows and thats when we noticed the 3 babies sleeping. We closed the shades to pretend we left and then the eagles came back for the young ones and went for a walk leaving 1 baby behind. I was sad that the eagles left and thought they were leaving because we were there then someone, a male voice, reassurred me they would be back so I put my finger out excited to carry the baby and it stuck its claws into my finger and tried to eat it so I pulled its claws out and put it back in its nest. When they all returned the juvenile kept peeking around the door and at the same time I would peek too. In the dream I could sense power. What do you think these dreams represent?

-Janie 2016-11-11 13:17:13

I dreamed last night that a bald eagle flew to a limb of a tree near me. I didn’t want to get too close, because I didn’t want it to leave, plus it was so big I was a little afraid of what it could do. It flew over closer to me, and I carefully reached my hand out to see if it would let me touch it. The eagle lowered its head and let me pet it’s feathers. He was gentle to me. I was so surprised that it let me touch it that I was afraid it might be sick, but he wasnt. I wanted to protect it after that, because I was afraid someone would hurt it because it let me near it. I dont remember anything else after that. Sometimes I have strange dreams like that.

Hi – I am sorry I cannot keep up with number of dreams sent at the moment. But I have described a way that you can get to the meaning of your dream. It only takes a little time to work at knowing the meaning of your dream.

So please click on the link and find your dreams meaning – http://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/getting-at-your-dreams-meaning/

But your dream is wonderful. Whenever we dream its images are not like real life, because a dream is nothing like outer life where things could hurt you, but is an image like on a cinema screen, so that even if a gun is pointed at you and fired it can do no damage – except if you run in fear; so all the things that scare you are simply your own fears projected onto the screen of your sleeping mind.

So your eagle cannot hurt you, because it is a part of you, for it is the function of the mind which can digest and register vast amounts – like and eagle can see vast territory and see where it needs to hunt – where your best interests are. You are frightened of people not understanding this part of you. But there are now more and more people who also have far seeing.

I dream of taking care of a chicken in our old house. Then soon it became an eagle with broken wings. Its claws holds on my arm. Its wings grew big. Im going to sleep so I tried to put it somewhere but refuses to leave me. Finally I put it to a faucet next to our old sink and window. It became small. A huge owl tried to puts it beak on it. Attack the small eagle. The eagle fall down and the owl has small feathers on its beak. I took a knife to scare the owl away and it worked but his owner came. He has a hammer and tried to break the screen window. So I took the eagle, still alive but weak. I opened our door to give it up then I wake up. I’m so troubled by this dream. Please help. Thanks

-Mimicha 2016-11-04 17:42:18

In my dream, it consisted of two eagles, yet owl like as well possibly hawks I don’t know my birds too well). A blue with black (me) and a white with black (girl I like). We were flying (no sense on height or where, perhaps a void or place where time, space and orientation are not present) in a circle pattern each perfectly at a 180° angle/opposite sides or ends. It was a pleasant dream.

My son was killed in a car accident when he was 17. One of the many dreams I had after he died was that my husband and I were in a canoe in a mountain lake. There were crowds of people surrounding the lake shouting at us. We could see a bird circling in the sky above us, and it circled lower and lower until it landed on my outstretched arm. It was a juvenile eagle, and when it turned toward me, I saw that it had my son’s face. After the accident, it seemed that we saw eagles everywhere we went, especially on significant occasions and also at the crash site.

I had a dream of being in the middle of a field there was some type of shaft running down deep into the ground that I was looking down into. It had some wood laying across it, maybe a ladder going down, and a bridge across the gap it made in the ground. I looked up and there was a giant bald eagle. It foray looked at me then started screaming at me like it was telling me something, and it continued to try to communicate to me for quite a while. I looked away and turned back to find the head of the eagle was now part of a costume and there was a man underneathe. Then I woke up.

-Nicky 2016-10-24 15:56:08

Hi Tony.

I had a dream last night that I was sleeping in my bed. In the dream a really large black and white bird (an eagle I’m sure) was sitting on my covers. I was lying on my right side so the Eagle was perched on my left arm. I wasn’t really scared of this bird but it’s claws were really large and strong. This bird was trying to peck at me to either wake me up or alert me of something (at least that’s how it felt in my dream). What do you think this could mean?

    -Tony Crisp 2016-10-26 13:01:35

Nicky – As you read in the entry about the eagle, it can represent its unusual perception and wide awareness. To touch such enormous wealth of experience is to be penetrated by the holy. Something so beyond the limitations of our own small personality enters us and leaves its imprint.

But at the moment it is, as you felt, trying to get your attention. Having at times experienced the eagles ‘sight’ it was an amazing and enlightening experience. So I feel it would be worthwhile to learn how to use http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson and be the eagle. This may seem strange, but all the images, people, animals, places we see in our dreams, are simply your own feelings, fears, hopes and wonder projected onto the screen of your sleeping mind as images. So, it makes sense to take the image of your dream eagle back into you and own it.

I am interested to know what you find when you do this.

    Tony

      -Nicky 2016-10-27 20:04:09

Thank you Tony! I will let you know. Going through some things and your reply has made a lot of sense!

Last night I had a dream with an eagle that flew over the top of me and a group of people and the eagle was shot by a hunter and passed away. I then got shot myself.
does this mean anything bad

-Catherine 2016-09-23 13:18:13

I had a dream last night that I was in a boat and there was an eagle a few inches under the water we kept circling it waiting for it to come up or try to swim, to do something. But it just stated there and starred at us not moving at all.

    -Tony Crisp 2016-09-26 8:11:03

Catherine – A dream is a communication between what has no recognised form – our core self – as far as our personality or reasoning mind is concerned. So to do this the dream process uses images of people, things and animals, as well as scenes that we might understand if we explore what we associate with the dream images. Something that haunts our memory will be shown as a ghost or demon. Our feeling of ambition might thus be portrayed as a business person in our dream – our changing emotions as the sea or a river; while the present relationship we have with our ambition or emotions is expressed in the events or plot of the dream. Even dreams of God or angels are in a sense a meeting with your highest.

The eagle under the water is a way of saying that a beautiful and powerful part of you is trying to get you attention by staring at you. The surface of a lake or the sea is the boundary between your conscious self and what lies in you below your awareness. But the eagle – your ability to have a much wider view of your life – has not yet broke through to your normal awareness. See http://dreamhawk.com/inner-life/the-unconscious-2/

I suggest you imagine diving in and helping the eagle to emerge. Remember imagination is a great and wonderful ability. http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/imagination-and-dreaming-2/

In a recurring dream, a large man, dressed as an eagle, walks up to the door of a house, knocks softly on the door with the flat of his wing, and is let in. The door is then closed again.

The eagle does not notice or interact with me or anyone else on his way to the house.

I explain to a bystander that there is some sort of gathering in the house of young people, and that the eagle will lead them.

My feeling is neutral, with respect and some curiosity about the unknown details.

My interpretation is that I am aware of my greater self and consciousness expansion, but that I focus a lot in the physical realm, keeping separated from my greater perceptions which are on the other side of an opaque door.

In reality, the eagle is just a man. Conversely, as a man, I am The Eagle. The wisdom and greater awareness is part of me, but I am on the physical realm side of the door.

Paraphrasing a popular quote, “Am I a man dressed as an eagle, or an eagle with a man at its core?”

In the dream, I am not the person in the eagle costume; I am just neutrally observing that there is such a thing. The eagle-man is leading others.

    -Tony Crisp 2016-09-12 12:36:15

David – We are all living paradoxes. The reason is that we are dual beings. On the one pole of the duality is focused self-awareness with consciousness of being an individual person. On the other pole we experience a void, emptiness – a nothing that is everything.

Strangely enough we experience this paradox each day in some degree. The first while awake – the second when we sleep. Yet to many who face the second with consciousness, it feels like all the horrors of death and loss. But facing it is important, especially in the second half of life. Although the unconscious carries the dark images we have of death, it also provides what feels like certainty about an existence which transcends death to those who experience it. This is presented as an awareness of existing eternally as part of the very fabric of life. In one form or another this is what those who dare to confront the dark images of death find beyond them.

Example: To my amazement a huge living and wondrous circle appeared on the wall. It was full of movement, everything dancing in time to music. At the very centre of the circle was emptiness, nothing, a void. Yet out of this nothingness all things emerged. There were plants, animals, people, hills, rivers and mountains all coming to birth. They danced out in their own individual movement, yet each unknowingly was part of the whole wonderful and intricate dance which made a great pattern and movement in the body of the circle. They all danced to the periphery and there turned and moved, still in their ballet, back to the centre. At that centre they plunged into its oblivion again. But at that very moment new life sprang from it to dance once more.

You have certainly explored your dream well. 

I add my comment. You are both at the same time, but we often avoid seeing how immense we are, “keeping separated from my greater perceptions which are on the other side of an opaque door.”

You can or course pierce the opaque by diving into it – http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson

Example: I was with a woman who was on my right. I have no clear picture of her face and no sense of who she was. But I did feel close to her emotionally, and we were holding hands. Together we walked into a large building. I have the impression of it being a square tall block, like an old-fashioned office building, but quite nice looking and well preserved. I believe my woman companion had been in the place before. I say this because I was feeling slightly uncertain and she was feeling confident and supportive.

Inside the front door of the building was a wide passageway probably about 15 or 20 feet wide. Not far along this passage something completely filled the space ahead. It looked like an ethereal opaque surface, perhaps like energy with just a little material substance.

With no real hesitation the woman and I walked into this wall of energy. I believe we knew more or less what would happen – that we would be absorbed and become wholly a part of this life form. As we walked into it I was trying to analyse what was happening and what it felt like. I lost all sense of my body as a dense form, but I could still feel my partner’s hand in mine in a very delicate way – again like energy playing upon energy. Also, I felt that we could decide upon our own movement, and it seemed as if we were still walking within this life form. So I knew we could walk out again and return to our solid body form. But the main feelings was of merging with countless other beings, and sharing their strength and abilities in a healing way.

I had a dream that I was with friends out in the country at night. We were sitting around a fire, talking and enjoying the clear sky of the night and looking at the stars. All of a sudden a snake flew down out of the sky and tried to bite my husband on the face. I was afraid for him and tried to get him into the car. I was tugging at him and he finally got in and I rolled up the windows away from the snake, but the strangest thing happened. I was sitting in the middle of the front seat with him and as I turned to my right, there was an eagle and it was flapping its wings. It was like I felt the wings brush my face and right arm and it even cried out. in a kind of screech. I really believed that I was awake, because it was like I could feel the wind under its wings and then I woke up. I believe this was the strangest sensation that I’ve ever had in a dream. I have had some very vivid dreams in my lifetime, but this one felt absolutely real to me. I’m not sure if my Cherokee ancestry is coming through in my dreams, or what, but that dream blew my mind. I have no clue what that dream meant, but I have always wondered.
