Fever

May be a sign of bad health, or symbol of great stress and emotion that in its intensity is burning out its own causes, and thus ridding you of the worries or insecurities that produced it. Fever is like fire in the body and can relate to being hot blooded, burning up with desire, or ‘having the hots’

During a fever we sometimes break through the barriers between waking and sleep and even death. Our conscious self is only a tiny thing compared with the immense unconscious processes that give us life. We can break through into this immensity when ill. Then we might get lost in delirious images, or know ourselves in bodiless awareness which can be frightening if you are not experienced in exploring ones inner world. In this wider world you may experience a wider awareness and abilities such as described below.

Example: I entered into a place – a void of nothingness – it was space with only limitless pulsating black. It would not end and time had no meaning there. I was aware of this and desperate for it to stop and to awaken. It was a physical place-a somewhere else. After an eternity that was probably an hour I awoke from this sleep. I did have a fever – this much is true. Once I fell asleep I went straight back to this place. It was terrifying. It continued all night. Some years later I was recounting this dream to a very close friend. This moment confirms to me that this was no ordinary dream. I have not told you a small section of the dream. I was telling my friend of the blackness and the pulsating black – his eyes widened (sorry to be dramatic) – I was about to tell him the next part but he finished it for me. All of a sudden from the blackness did you see a cottage in the background with a basket and rose clippers with some roses in. I was stunned. I had never told anyone of this. My friend had had a fever at the time as well some years after mine. I have experienced the feeling of the void a couple of times since.

I had a dream that my boyfriend was sleeping & I was sitting next to him, but Japanese style. We were in a white room & he started to sleep talk & he was saying that I didn’t feel alive, that my body was cold. I remember my body was kinda numb & I grabbed his head & started to cradle it to wake him up. I realized that his head was very hot so I tried to wake him up by talking to him. I started calling him by my brothers name & then he got confused but still didn’t wake up(all the while he was sleep talking).

Laura – Your boyfriend does not really indicate your actual boyfriend – When you think about a lover, a friend or a person you know, you are only taking in your thoughts, impressions and feelings about them. So many people do not realise that they have an inner person equally as powerful as the external person you know. You have taken in millions of bits of memory, lessons learnt, life experiences along with all the feelings or problems met by meeting or living with them, and they change you and make you the person you are. The memories and experience we gather unconsciously change us and are not lost. It is part of you and is symbolised in dreams as a person or event. Such an inner person can appear in dreams because you still carry the memories or impressions of them, and so they influenced what you hold within you.

So what does he represent in your dream – see https://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson

It seems something has gone to sleep in your life and you are trying to wake it up. It is something you care about and are giving a lot of attention to.

Sleep talking is an interesting subject, especially as it was in your dream. You need to understand that in life and sleep we have two powerful actions working in us. The first is our waking experience based on having a body, its limitations, vulnerabilities and a particular gender. Our second is the power that gave us life and continues to express as dreams, in our breathing and heartbeat – our life. This I have given the description as the Life Will.

While we sleep our conscious self is largely or totally unconscious, and while we dream our voluntary muscles are paralysed – therefore another will or motivating force moves our body. So we have a Conscious Will, and what I will call a Life Will. The first one we have experience of as we can move our arm or speak in everyday activities; but the second will takes over when we sleep.

This Life will can move us to speak, to move our body, and in fact do things that we cannot do with our Conscious Will. As Freud pointed out this inner will has full access to our memories. It can do so many other things that are described else where – See https://dreamhawk.com/interesting-people/edgar-cayce-and-the-cosmic-mind-superminds/

I believe that you called you brothers name because you have long felt a connection and care for him – the same as you felt in the dream for your boyfriend. So your dream was a way to care for and wake up the aspect of you that was not fully working.

Hallo Tony!
How is fever dream related when you see someone elese with fever?
I dreamt my mom(who passed away last Christmas) she was on her illness bed, almost naked, she was calling my name very clear, i entered her room and when i went near her and embraced her, she was having fever, i saw she had a cateter and blood on one arm.
I was angry in my dream that nobody was there to cure her. She died of long suffering cancer.
what could this mean dear Tony?
Ty a lot

Ella – Your dream could have several meanings. Because dreams tend to mirror our feelings, worries and love, it could mean that your feelings about seeing her die have created a dream in which you felt angry, and so dream the awful dream. See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/questions-2/#Summing

But there may be another reason. In sleep and death, consciousness gradually withdraws from the physical into its own centre, rather like a snail withdrawing into its shell. At death, the influence of soul and spirit are disconnected from the body. It is left with only its own forces, and breaks up due to lack of a unifying and enduring influence.

Usually the first thing experienced at death is a vivid re-experiencing of one’s whole life in reverse order. The essence of a lifetime is thus extracted. Now begins what is for most people a purifying experience. We have built into our soul nature, many longings and desires that can only be fulfilled through the body, which are out of harmony with the spirit. There is thus experienced a period of burning desires; as these longings consume themselves in their own fire. During this time, one lives again through memories of life, but only those that were out of harmony with one’s innermost nature. Not only does one remember such deeds and emotions, but also experiences them as happening to oneself. Thus pain given to others, destruction wrought in the world, loneliness and fear sown, are now gone through personally. As with all these experiences, many people go through them during life, and are thus already cleansed.

So I wonder whether the fever felt was in connection with “a period of burning desires; as these longings consume themselves in their own fire”. But you can find out for yourself by using http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson
