Rain
Generally rain symbolises emotions, release of feelings.
If the rain is gentle it is usually a relaxing experience and suggests a release from ideas and intellect. If it is a downpour and storm, it is feelings which may drench us, as in sadness or grief about a friend passing. If the land is inundated, then our common sense is lost to sight in the emotions released, and danger may threaten.
But rain may also show a return of feelings after a long spell of dry intellectualism or drought of feelings.
Some dreams show a massive downpour and feel that they have to wade through a flood, making it difficult to move; also it can be dangerous because visibility is poor. This suggests either emotions or natural events make it difficult for you get around as usual. A heavy falll of rain can also can be a start of very big changes in ones life and feelings.
If the rain is entering ones house it can signify worries about ones living conditions and comfort.
Rain can be a cleansing experience when it clears the ground and plants grow because they are watered. So it then represent a cleansing of worries or thoughts and emotions.
If a flood or huge rainfall washes your house away or other things it may be that it is about a way of life, an attitude that has been radically changed. I can suggest a new beginning and a new and better way of life.
Example: I was walking past a large building site which had been excavated for foundations. Rain had filled the excavated pits and a large lake had formed. As I walked past I could see ancient primitive creatures rising out of the water. One of them, a large dinosaur, came toward me. I was scared and ran away. The dinosaur followed and started speaking to me. I couldn’t understand what it said. Don.
Example: I happened to rub or scratch my flesh and felt like bits of something on me. I looked and saw they were maggots. They had come off the blanket. I tried to brush them off, and it was like pieces of dirt or scum coming off the body, but I could not seem to get rid of all of them. Afterwards I saw my sexual feelings rise like a thermometer. This didn’t clear the maggots, but I felt impressed to rise thermometer right up to my head. I watched the liquid rise. Then it came out of my head like a fountain, raining down on my body. This fell upon the maggots, which fell off me. As they did so they became seeds that grew in the ground.
Idioms: Come rain or shine; it never rains but it pours; saving for a rainy day.

Last night I had three separate but similar dreams in all of them I was prepared and awaiting the rain, in one dream I watched a flood rise and then fall, I was at me kids school and they were bussing people to safety, and In another I was in an apartment I’ve visited a lot in my dreams and I almost feel like it’s a place the truly exist, but rain and a bunny I had to save idk what to make of that
Dear Naomi – It IS difficult to make something of your dream because you do not mention any awareness about your emotions in your dream and you do not really describe your dreams.
See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/not-enough-information/
Were you afraid when you watched the flood rising? Were you worried about your kids?
Who are “they” that were bussing people to safety? Into which direction did the people had to move to feel/be safe? What is the whole content of the other two dreams you had “last night”? Etc.

The apartment in your dream is a symbol of your own mind and it is a place – a state of mind – that truly exists in your inner world.

I recently had a dream it was raining outside. So I went into a house, I don’t believe was mine. It had other people in the house as well, I realized that part of the roof was missing and said to someone ” I came in to not get wet and was rained on anyway ” even with the rain we weren’t sad we started dancing. Any insight as to what this means would be helpful.
Dear Chauncie – Your dream starts with trying to avoid release and inner growth.

Then your dream creator helps you to enter a new phase of your life in which you explore what it will be like if you allow Life to help you and it turns out that expressing/releasing beliefs, ideas and/or feelings is not something meant to make you sad; when you allow Life to express itself through you, you become aware that IT makes you happy.
See http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/lifes-little-secrets/
Expressing IT broadens your (psychic and spiritual) awareness, which will also help you find your place in Life.

The night before my father passed away suddenly and tragically, I dreamt of pouring rain on the car I was in. There was no visibility and water was seeping in through the windshield. The next morning he passed away.
I had a very weird dream and around the only thing I distinctly remember is that I looked out of my living room window and it was raining steadily (nothing out of the norm for Florida lol) but then I looked on the ground and realized my purse was out there on the ground getting rained on. What could this mean?
Dear Kimberley – I reckon you read this entry about rain and the part that talks about rain being a symbol of a release from ideas and intellect and the return of feelings.
The purse could be a symbol of your identity or the way you (and/or others) perceive your (sexual) self.
The way to get a feeling understanding of your dream and the possible changes it symbolises – rather than to think about it – is to explore it by using “Being the purse in the rain” and/or “Talking as the purse in the rain”.

It is good to get some understanding of the different ways we are able to relate to ourselves and the outside world, which Carl Jung called “man’s four functions”; Sensation – Feeling – Thinking – Intuition.
Perhaps in order to be able to approach life differently, you could explore the place that the feeling function has in your (inner) world?

Does that give you a start?

I had a dream that it had been quite hot for a while in the 88’s-to mid 90’s. Then it starts to rain to one night the next morning the street is flooded by 10-15 inches but instead of being scared by this everyone digs under a little trying to make a pool in their front yards and start enjoying it. The following night it rains more harder and the night temperature dropped, in the morning everyone was enjoying the flood. Everyone around me was enjoying the water except me it was like a river flowing down the streets. A week later it turned bad when the rain started and wouldn’t stop at all, the sky turned grey itself and then that’s when people started panicking after. Houses were under water, I remember before it got really bad me and my family n friends were able to make it into a warehouse building and were figuring out whether to take the elevator or stairs all the way up. Water was everywhere
I’ve had a dream where it’s raining fairly heavily outside (I can’t see the sky but its not a terrible storm just a downpour) and I saw my bed outside my window on the lawn and for some reason I wasn’t able to do anything. It was made and all my pillows were on it. I was so annoyed it was all being drenched!
I usually never remember my dreams. But not this case and it seemed so realistic this night… I was in my parent’s house during the night. The house was empty, my mother was not there but all lights were on and the doors opened. I was in the living room when it began to rain through the ceiling. Gentle rain, big drops. It was raining in all rooms. Then, suddenly, it stopped. I wasn’t afraid but appeased.
My father died suddenly two years before and I know my mother is still desperate. Is there a link with such dream ?
Peter – there could be a link with such dream, and I trust it will be helpful for you to explore that.

My dream is that I open the door to my attic and there is a gentle rain falling. In the middle of the room there is a bed (big enough for two people) that looks as if it had been slept in. It’s daylight and the sun shines through the windows filling the room with a diffused sunlight. It was very calming, I was not afraid.
Lil 🙂
I feel this dream is opening you up to a new direction in your inner life.
I suggest you read the other entries too, which apply to this dream as well:

With this understanding of the symbols I suggest you “go back into your dream” and you merely look around and feel/sense again what was part of the dream. Allow thoughts, feelings, what you sense etc. to arise spontaneously and then let it all go and wait and see where LIFE takes you.

I had a dream in a different home and In the home that I lived in it had no door. It was pouring hard. The rain was really heavy. The entry to my home was two to three doors wide. I was entering my home and I see my boyfriend playing with a ball with my friend. Which I’m very jealous of. I hug my boyfriend about to hug my Friend and her eyes are red filled with tears. They leave together with my boyfriend’s mom (it’s still pouring outside). And they dont say bye. I have no clue how she was in my house without me knowing. I’m just having different thoughts as they leave. As I look out the door everything is so muddy.
It’s teaching, not reaching.
And steadily, not at stradily.
I dreamed that I was in class reaching at my previous school where I used to work. I was looking out the window and it starting raining at stradily. Then it started pouring hard. The kids ran inside the building and the rain came through the classroom ceiling. The ground outside started flooding lifting and breaking apart due to the heavy amount of water. Then it stopped.
Esmer – I believe this is a memory of an event that may have happened some time at the school you used to teach in. The rain, as you read, is about deep feelings that happened – I guess – at that time. But they deepened and it felt as if your care for the younger part of you and the things you took for granted as supports seemed to be threatened.
But the dream appears to have ended the feelings, maybe helped to heal them. Or perhaps you managed to repress them. You can dig deeper yourself by using http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson

I often get large volumes of water like ocean in my dreams. I have been getting them for years and don’t know why.
I dream of lots of rain that causes flooding. It seems to be a recurring dream as I remember it often. The rain is not gentle, soothing but more me in the flood water wading through. What can this mean and to dream it so often?
I had a dream that there was heavy rain and I was attempting to run from it and make sure my Dad was safe. When I finally felt safe from the heavy rain and storms, I saw my Dad outside in a lawn chair in the pouring rain. I rushed to get him out but kept screaming for someone to help.
Nichole – Dreams, our inner world and life, have a very different view than most peoples view of how to deal and meet life. You were intent of protecting your father from any discomfort or pain. But our inner life sees that would actually end up repressing or blocking many experiences that lead to survival.
For example some years black I had the most awful migraines that put me in bed. But I didn’t rush to the doctors to give me pain killers. That would be like muffling the fire alarm. Instead I watched what I was doing or eating that led to the migraines. I saw that whenever I ate salty food a migraine followed. So I have never had another migraine, and so do not carry on misusing my body.

Good overview on “Rain” dream. I recently dreamed that while a steady rain was coming down outside, so was the case inside my house – rain was also steadily coming through the ceiling in my house. Very weird, have never had this kind of dream before – I guessing that this may be due to many anticipated life changes coming up.
Keri – The rain entry is helpful, but with a dream you need to see how one image works with another – not all that easy. So you need to look up ceiling; and I think putting the two together that you are not too comfortable in the place you are in your life at the moment.
But it doesn’t suggest anything desperate, but it does suggest you need to make a change and not wait for it.
