A particular feeling state – for instance the room might feel sinister, warm, spacious, cold, etc. – so depicts whatever you feel in the dream room. It can also indicate experience of life in the womb, or your present life situation if it is a room you are living in. In this sense the room can depict what difficulties, what traps, what poverty or richness of life you are living in.
Sometimes a room, because of its spaciousness represents the amount of potential or opportunity you have. The ‘containing’ quality – feeling restricted – of a room may also depict involvement in your mother.
The décor of the room usually suggests how you feel about the quality of your life.
Bare room: This may suggest you feel your life lacks comfort, or the joy of your own created environment. It can also suggest potential.
Entering another room: Entering a new experience or phase of your life, a new feeling.
The finding of extra or secret rooms: A common dream theme – recognition or discovery of previously unnoticed aspects, abilities, fears, or traits in yourself. The room here represents Audrey’s childbearing function – her womb i.e. the reproductive drive, the unconscious desire for a child or more children, and the possible neglect of those feelings and longings. The room can therefore depict mother or qualities of mothering.
Example: I am at my original flat but come across an extra room or sometimes part to the flat no one knows about. I am always surprised when I find it, but inside myself I know of its existence. It is as though it belonged to me although I am unaware of ever having used it. It is usually a bedroom but sometimes a lounge with a bed in it. It’s obviously lived in. The bed is unmade and it’s a little untidy but comfortable. I feel very familiar with it but recognise none of the contents as mine.

Sometimes the room can hold old attitudes or things you left behind because of life’s necessities. Or at other times it can be things you did not want to admit to yourself, as in the following example.
The room immediately reminded me of the way I had described my awareness of my sexual stagnation during the first dream session – like a room that had been closed for years and had been unopened. Everything had been left as it was. Perhaps a murder had taken place, and the powerful aura pervaded the whole place.
Room without doors or windows: May represent the womb and life in the womb. What is happening in the room may show the state of a pregnancy, feelings about pregnancy or feeling trapped.
Small Room: Lack of space or opportunity or small time dealings. It could suggest a limitation of vision or potential.
The room: Love has only one place of expression – The ground floor. That is, love cannot be expressed unless it is brought down to earth.

There was this one dream where I moved into a new home and I found myself unpacking and putting things where they should be and then I open one door and it’s not a room it’s a completely different home and then this one home it’s beautiful it made me feel like a queen oddly it looked like a room in a castle and I open another door and it led to another home and in this house it looked like a beach house it gave off an artsy feel anyways the next door opened was actually a very big bedroom at that had a lot of beds and it was a long room and it was a very nice room and it looked like a room made in the 70’s but I noticed as I was walking towards the end of the room the energy changed the look of the room changed I noticed cobwebs on the walls as if the room has never been touched and it felt as if somebody was there but there was nobody so I found myself to another door and opened it and it’s another home that I walk into as I’m walking to the living room I have this very uneasy feeling I do not like it, it’s cold … the feeling that the house gave me felt very negative , uneasy and as I walk throughout the house that feeling grew stronger and then I go down to this hallway at the end of the hallway is another bedroom and I walk into the bedroom the feeling it gives me is so sinister felt evil I’m scared and I don’t want to go any further into that room because the way the room made me feel like someone or something had it’s eye on me so I ran out of that house and I close the door and I ended up in the middle of nowhere.

A house in dreams refers to a place or situation you have lived as or in. For example your present personality as far as dreams are concerned is one house you have lived in; but there are many other ‘houses’ you have been. For the human personality – the You that you call yourself, with a name, is only a tiny thing. The feeling arose because there was an unformed dark shape creeping around at the far end of the room. The dog was really afraid and came into my arms.
Then the dark creature leapt at me, transforming into a massive mouth with huge fangs and awful demonic face. Immediately I leapt at it in the same way and smashed against its face with my own huge fangs. This utterly disarmed it because it had felt, in its primitive way, to terrify me. I had a bizarre dream where I arrived in a room with no doors or windows, it wasn’t even house like. Just a chamber with with blood/gore on the floor to ceiling and walls. Trying to escape I put my hand through a wall and went into another room identical to the one before. In this room there was six or seven people/zombies/monsters with sharp teeth who all noticed my appearance and started approaching. I fought and was successful and went into another room, thus room had the same appearance and I entered the same way as before. This room had a cat and a pig with a litter between the two. There was an odd like slaughter machine and for some reason I couldn’t escape until I out every animal in. After going through the final wall I found myself in a friend’s bedroom. Standing there I found someone I know (but not involved in my life at all) holding the litter of piglets/kittens. Then I woke up. I’ve not had such a disturbing experience and looking for some clarification! Thank you!
I dreamt that there was a door that had a strong attached to a hidden door, while opening one door the other would shut on me leaving me in a dark block square of a room, after getting the hidden door open I saw a witch in black staring at me in a menicing way. I’m not sure what to make of it but the room was just dark and old fashioned. It wasn’t my current home I’d near seen the house before. The witch then went on to me a main role in my dream, disguising herself as Jane lynch but I brushed that off haha.

Kathleen – Hidden doors are a way of showing you parts of your own nature that you hadn’t seen before or you are suppressing.
The dark square room represents a fundamental mental state. Most people want to get out of the dark because they often feel uncertain.
The witch, why did you feel menaced by her? For all the people, animals, places you see in your dreams, are simply your own feelings, fears, hopes and wonder projected onto the screen of your sleeping mind as images. So, it makes sense to take the image of your dream person, thing or animal back into you and own it. In that way, you are meeting and dealing with the things about yourself you are not owning or conscious of. My dream began in my bedroom, where I found a small door. I opened this door to be greeted with a grand ammount of stairs, which reminded me of a castle. At the bottom of the stairs, there was, seemingly, a storage room filled with boxes and crates of all sorts. The wall was made of a cardboard-like wallpaper and baige carpets. Half-way up the stairs, there was a drying room. It was cluttered, sheets all over the place, hanging over the doors and seeling to make a den type mess. There was also a washing and drying machine. The walls seemed to be made out of stained, white tiles, the room was so cluttered with bed-sheets I couldn’t see the floor.

Hey.. I keep having a recurring dream.. Im in my friends house (currently reside) but its not her house its an old old house and there’s a secret passage way in a fireplace in a hallway. (Only the first dream i went inside.) it was a whole bother living quarters with multiple rooms.. It was completely furnished just untouched and forgotten.. Super excited i went to find my friend and show her, but never actually got to show her (I think she was afraid or didn’t care. I cant really remember) every other dream ..was the same place but we had visitors (different every dream, no people stood out) and the dreams were always me trying to show them this amazing secret room but never actually get to it ..just wake up before or can never convince this or there to busy at that moment..always different

Last night I dream that I found a stairway in the house that lead me upstairs where I find a secret room, when I open it, it was a white room with a bed and a mirror. I was so happy to find the room and I claim it to be my new room but it seems like it was an old room since I thought I been living in that house for a long time and no one know it was there. I was a little nervous on sleeping by myself because it felt like that was a spirit there but yet I lay down and talk to the spirit and ask for permission if it was ok to have the room, and also before going to the room there was another stairs to go outside
I have frequent dreams about finding secret rooms in my house or of suddenly remembering that there are large sections of my house that I have forgotten about. In my dreams, though, the rooms and parts of the house that are new to me are always completely structurally unsound. Like you can feel the ground swaying beneath your feet or the floor sinking in wherever you step. The rooms are always fully furnished but I realize in the dreams that I cannot use any of these rooms because they will collapse under my weight. These dreams always leave me with a sense of unease so I would love to know what they mean.

I have dreams about a secret room. I am usually trying to find a safe place for my kids and their friends/group during a storm. I will suddenly remember there is a secret bathroom that belongs to my ex-stepfather that is below the ground level of the house. The secret entry varies, but it is always too small for the adults to enter. However, it is quite large and has multiple baths and showers. I also become aware that he will be upset with me for telling someone about the secret bathroom, but I decide it is for the good of the children, so I go ahead and lead them there. I do not ever remember the storm hitting or any aftermath. As a matter of fact, I don’t even get far enough for the kids to actually enter the room. It goes only up to the entry and looking inside and telling them about it. Then I wake up or move on to another dream. When I say recurring, I mean several times each night, but the house and secret room will never look the same. It is really worrying me! Any insight?

I had a dream that I was in my room and there was a giant white board in on wall and if you turned it there was a black board on the other side. But while you were turning it, I realized that there was a secret room with tables and chairs and a lot of other stuff. I’m not entirely sure what it means…

Hi I always have nightmares of big large houses they usually feel old to me like they haven’t been lived in for a long time, but now I live there. There’s always so many rooms and passageways from tons of directions and usually secret rooms. The house is beautiful but it’s creepy and scared me. There’s always something I’m so afraid of. Like I’m intrigued by the house and especially a small secret room it feels familiar sometimes with a bed and stuff (not my things) but im so scared. Sometimes they’ll even be like someone trying to kill us and I’m always determined to lock all the doors, even though I feel they can get inside because Im not familiar with the whole huge house yet, and there’s secret passageways. The only reason I’m exploring it is usually to lock the door or keep us safe. Some big fears end up coming up as well like loosing my bf or my mom. As a girl I was always scared of the dark and the basement but ive had these dreams since I was really young as long as I can rememeber. The houses are almost always different a few I’ve had repeatedly. I always wake up petrified and upset. I’ve never had an actual traumatic expierence in my house. I just need to know what this means, I’ve been wondering too long, my whole life. Could you please help?

Hi, I had a really unsettling dream last night about a house with hidden rooms, the house defiantly belonged to me but there were dead/ghosts in there of a family that lived there before me. The house had belonged to a doctor who killed (I think It was him, I got that feeling) his entire family. He cut off his wife’s head and sold it for £200, and he killed his young children but none of them realised they were dead. The hidden rooms kept appearing and disappearing and there was one room in partical that really have me the creeps! There was a horrible undiscrible smell coming from the room and I knew that it was evil/bad and I couldn’t go near it. The lights randomly went on and off when I went for a bath. When the lights where in the bath was lovely and hot but then all of sudden would go freezing cold and the lights would go out, I would call for help but nobody came. When I went to find everyone they weren’t there but the dead husband and wife where watching tv in the dark, and the scary room kept reappearing at this point. Could you tell me what this means? Please xx

I have had a dream about a secret room, I’ve had it three times. It always involves my step mother (whom I love). In her room, in the dream, there are three larger drawers in the wall stacked vertically. If you pull out the middle all the way, there is a crawl space that leads to a beautiful closet. Silver furniture with mirrors lining the wall. There are no clothes but I know it’s her special closet. I found it in my first dream, I explored in my second dream then in my third dream, I explored it but told her I was in it without permission and obviously admitted I knew about it to her. She gave me a look that a mother gives a child who disobeyed but wasn’t angry. I like the dream, there is something about it that I just like. I can’t really explain it further. Since I’ve had it a few times and it seems to be progressing, I’ve wondered what it could possibly mean!

It appears as though the rooms may have belonged to someone else .
I dreamt of finding two extra bedrooms in my home. My current non-dream bedroom is already quite large, having been a garage in the past. These two bedrooms were even larger, grand and royal. One room had stairs to a second story inside that room. And possibly a piano? A baby grand. And a smaller room that looked be be a larger closet that was specifically there for the bed. Nothing else. Just a room within a room. The other was a purple room and had a bed and vanity in it. Lilac colored walls and lots of natural light. It had two parts to the room, seperated by three stairs. The lower lever had a large closet and just looked to be fpr the purpose of getting ready. White, fancy furniture. A bed on the upper lever.
I was under the impression that both rooms were inmy house and that I could choose one to live in . But at the end, when I went to tell me mother that I’d be moving in to the purple room, an omniscient voice told me that I didn’t have permission to be in either of them. That I suppose I wasn’t entitled to them.
