Stranger

May be referring to an unrecognised part of yourself, your behaviour or character, or something you fail to see or recognise as you. In a way this might even be a new growing part of you you haven’t met before. So if it is an ‘alien’ stranger it is something so new it is out of your present world view.

The stranger could also involve feelings of not belonging, of not connecting, not feeling you have a home or know where home is.

Stranger can mean we do not recognise who someone is in relationship to us, what they feel for us or we them. The stranger is also the person you have rejected – the you that is rejected.

Stranger at the door could mean a new and unexpected meeting or an opportunity.

A ragged or dirty stranger may not be about something awful appearing in your life, as sometimes the dirt hides value. But you can find out by using Being the Person or Thing

Useful Questions:

What sort of person is this – threatening, loving, interesting – see of you can define it, and ask yourself what of those is at your door of opportunity?

What is your response to the stranger, and what does this suggest?

What is the stranger doing, or what is the actions in the dream, and how does this reflect your daily life?

Well I had I dream last night and it was quite unusual… Okay so I was at the store with my grandfather and then he left to go look for something in another section of the store. Once he had left me I was just wandering over the aisles. Then the guy I guess around my age was look towards me. He would try to find a way to get closer to me each time. The only problem was that each time he was a aisle closer to me I would try to escape a go to another one. He didn’t give until we were both in the same aisle. I was in the one by backpacks and back to school items. He then asked me some questions like where I was studying and he told me a bit about his family. He seemed very nice a he was Colombian. What does this mean? Was it just a simple dream? Or something behind it???

Hello!! I have been having lots of weird dreams latley. Including a strange one i had last night. Im only 15 so live with my parents! I walked into my room and there was a guy and a girl. The girl like grabbed me and was saying i was staying with them and stuff. There was tons of stuff all over my room like the guy and gitl were pretending to install something in my room. They were kidnapping me but we were just staying in my room. I just sat on my bed and rolled my eyes at them. I didnt feel afraid, worried, helpless nothing!! I just sat there. (This part in gunna make me sound crazy but it was in the dream!) the guy came up to me and was holding a knife and said “u can either stab urself in the heart or hand” i took the knife and was about to stab my hand but i didnt then all the sudden was walking around at some local park. There was a road, trails, forest, feilds and a small playground. I wasnt running but just walking around trying to escape or hide. I saw the girl she chased after me but i didnt cry for help or run. It was almost like i was just trying tk act brave or tough. I was taken by her repeatedly but i escaped again. Only the girl scared me! But i have no clue who she is! I would be able to pick her out in a croud though. I only saw the guy in the beginning lf the dream, but dont know him either. It kept going on and on ill spare more details. But i just have no clue what anything means? Do u know anything ? Today i felt like i was being watched and gunna run into the girl from my dream! I didnt feel aftaid or scared just uhhh… Intimidated i guess. But i knew and know i can take care and handle myself in situations. Plz help me.

Emma – There is so much you do not understand about dreams or how you mind works. The girl was simply a girl your dream creator built from associations you have. So please read http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/questions-2/#Summing and http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/autonomous-complex/

As for the dream, when you are in your mid-teens you are in the middle of a huge growth process, a huge change. Going into your room represents going into yourself, your inner world. I do not know if you understand that your inner world is much more important than the outer world and your dream shows it is a bit of a mess. See http://dreamhawk.com/inner-life/inner-world

The girl and man in your dream are feelings or urges in you that you do not recognise, and may be forerunners of the changes you are facing. You are not afraid of what you meet and there is a slight suggestion of self harming. But because you were not afraid you turned this into nature, the outdoors. But it was a way that you use to escape from the feelings you are meeting. It might help if you can use http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson

The girl you are running away from is a part of you that you need to face.

Good luck. You have enormous potential and so will meet the challenges of change and become a lovely woman.

Hi, I had a dream awhile ago were I was friends with this boy named Alex. In my dream I saw his face and he was looking at me from accross the table. He didnt seem like a threat but i do know that he was a friend of mine in my dream ( since another stranger told me). Who is he?

    -Tony Crisp 2014-06-26 7:11:42

Jessica – In the world of dreams our most intimate fears and longings are given an exterior life of their own in the form of the people, objects and places of our dream. Therefore our sexual drive may be shown as a person and how we relate to them; or given shape and colour as an object; or given mood as a scene, something that haunts our memory is shown as a ghost or demon. Our feeling of ambition might thus be portrayed as a business person in our dream – our changing emotions as the sea or a river; while the present relationship we have with our ambition or emotions is expressed in the events or plot of the dream.

So the boy in your dream is most likely a figure you have conjured up as a way of feeling you are needing friendship. See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson as it will help you to know who Alex is.

I had two similar almost exactly the same. In the first I and several women were on our way to this “thing” I couldn’t see. All of the women were strangers of the same race as me. I could tell we were about to die and somehow saved us all.

The second one happened during the day when I took a nap. Again all the people were women of the same race but we were on a bus. A man stepped onto the bus and said “I’m taking over this bus.” I sensed danger immediately but we all were okay and arrived at something that seemed like a basketball game. I never saw anthing outside the stands. Later a man was in a shop and I felt that I was an outsider. I saw two people crying I sensed they were related to someone who had just died in the shop. It was as if the shop owner had killed their parents on purpose.

Hi
I don’t know if you would be able to help me. A friend of mine had the same dream twice where there is someone in his home (not too sure of the gender, but he thinks its a girl) and when he goes looking for them, they suddenly disappear.

What would be the meaning of this?

-Samantha 2014-02-25 13:59:22

Hi I don’t know if you can help but in my dream the stranger is very handsome and he kisses me and he then convinces me to go on holiday with him I don’t know what this could mean if you could help that would be amazing

-helen 2014-02-09 13:39:56

I wonder if you could help. My husband had a dream in which he was in our bed and he knew he was asleep. Above him appeared a family portrait of a family of strangers dressed in 1950/60s clothes. The man in the portrait tried to tell my husband his name began with g but everytime the man spoke my husbans was aware that his lips were moving. The part that concerns me is that the man was beckoning my husband and saying for him to go with him. My husband just kept saying he didnt want to go. He said he didnt feel scared at any point. I am concerned this dream was some kind of premonition of his death. I wonder if you could shed any light?

    -Tony Crisp 2014-02-23 12:05:29

Helen – This is not typical of dreams where a beckoning figure appears and the person subsequently dies soon afterwards. The person who beckons in those dreams is always a close family member such as a husband, wife or mother.

The person who beckons seems to me to represent a figure presenting memories of his family past and its influence in his life. Such memories are very important, but do not require death. See – http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/the-conjuring-trick/

I dreamt that I am married. And my husband is stranger, I mean I don’t know him personally or I do not know someone like him. I didn’t even recognize his face. And the weird part is, it seems okay with me. I’m chatting, sitting besides him like real husband and wife that know each other very well. What is the meaning of my dream? Hope you could help me. Thank you in advance.

I had a very disturbing dream last night, I dreamt that a stranger was at my door trying to come in my house, I did not recognize him so I refused to open my door. I yelled out to my husband to please help but did not get a response. The stranger at the door had a fire torch and there were 4 small children were looking out the window by the door. I shouted to them to get away from the window and to go into the kitchen the other end of the house and the man released the fire and my house began to burn so I ran to the kitchen and tried to open the window to get out and the windows were on fire and too hot to touch, I was holding 3 small children there was a 4th child (my husband’s oldest daughter was the 4th small child) but she ran upstairs with my husband and the front part of the house was totally consumed with fire and I could not get to them so I held onto the other 3 children that I was carrying and I tried to open the door but when the air gushed in the fire got worst, I kept pushing the door and it flew open and I ran as fast as I could still carrying the 3 children.

I had a dream that a strange woman stood outside my home and stared at me. I wuold come into my house and close the door, only to find it open minutes later with her outside looking at me. she didn’t say anything the whole dream. she wore a scarf covering her hair and had piercing blue eyes. every time i would leave my house, she would follow me. My mother was in my dream with me and she mentioned the same woman followed her. I went to confront her and she began running so i ran after her. I tried throwing a blanket on her so she would disappear. she didn’t do anytyhing to us but she didn’t seem like a possitive energy and seemed as though she wanted to harm us by the way she looked at us. What could this mean?

-marc 2013-07-28 8:54:16

I had a dream that I was in a massive building and through all the crowed outside this girl came up to me crying saying she loves gave me a kiss and hug then said don’t worry I have your number and will be in touch .

The kiss and hug felt so natural even when she said I love you I said it straight back , I feel like I’ve known who ever it is for a life time and I felt really complete at the moment in my dream ! She also said she lives on doncaster road which is about 30 miles away from me but I have no revelance to this road at all .

What does it mean

    -Tony Crisp 2013-07-28 12:45:31

Marc – I think it means that you have entered a bigger inner state – the big building. During that dream you had access to a lot more of yourself than usual – the bit of the iceberg that is usually hidden under the water. See http://dreamhawk.com/interesting-people/edgar-cayce-and-the-cosmic-mind-superminds/

The wonderful girl is your female half. See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/archetype-of-the-anima-jungs-view-of-the-female-in-the-male/

Of course she loves you and you feel complete, because we are all only half our potential. It is our body that confuses us because it polarises us a particular gender. In sleep and dreams we can be anything we like. As I wrote to somebody yesterdays, about a dead friend, “Gradually I recovered from the surprise and the feelings, and saw that Shaun was now male and female at the same time. He had not switched to becoming a female, but had enlarged to being both male and female”.

-Dream Questioner 2012-12-21 16:26:58

Hello! I’m not sure if you can help me or not or maybe guide me somewhere but I had a dream a few nights ago about an unfamiliar man. In my dream I was in a field playing with children. The children were running around unwrapped may poles. When I turned around, there was a man with his back to me and then when he turned his head and saw me, he turned around completely. He was smiling at me like he was happy to see me and held his hand out for me to take. I moved forward and extended my hand out as if to take his and then suddenly stopped and backed away. He seemed a bit taken aback by my reaction and then looked amused. I woke up. I asked the questions of what you listed here and questioned myself why I backed away from him instead of taking his hand. And the crazy part is that I felt a bit uncomfortable in his presence but not a bad uncomfortable. It was like this was something new that I was definitely not used to and didn’t know how to react too. When I first woke up, I thought this would be someone that I’d meet in waking life and the feeling was because I’m shy and awkward around guys I’m attracted too. Do you think this is denoting something new in my life that is about to change in my personality or is it someone that I am to meet?

    -Tony Crisp 2012-12-23 14:51:04

Jamie – I think you have the answer in saying, “I felt a bit uncomfortable in his presence but not a bad uncomfortable. It was like this was something new that I was definitely not used to and didn’t know how to react to”.

I think there may be another explanation than the shyness you suggest. It is that we are a dual being, and the person we call me – Jamie – is only a tiny part of you. When we meet this much large part of us – holding out its hand for us – it seems like a stranger, although it is the part of us that keeps us alive, beats our heart, in fact gives us awareness. So please read http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/what-we-need-to-remember-about-us/#DualBeing and what follows.

Your dream shows this part of you in a fairly good light, but many people are scared of it or picture it as an alien.
