Enantiodromia

This is a term used by Jung and P. W. Martin to describe the self-regulating swing between the opposites during personal growth, or the journey inward. Jung used it mostly in connection with the progress or change swings in individuals, but Martin also pointed out that such swings take place socially. He gives the example of the swings between licentiousness and Puritanism in British history.
