Giant
In many dreams the giant represent huge forces that are behind our own lives and existence. For example you are constantly moved in your body by forces that you do not control or even fully understand.
The potato you ate yesterday remembers your address today
We often take for granted some of the most astounding facts about our everyday life. They seem so normal we barely notice them. But just think, the potatoes or rice you ate yesterday, is today capable of sitting and laughing at a television program. When you digested the food you ate, in some way that is truly astounding it transformed into your movements, and feelings, and being able to do maths and enjoy a video. Not even the brainiest person in the world has been able to make a robot or creature that can eat potatoes and change them into the ability to read this book. If we can already do that amazing thing, what else might we be able to do?
This giant in your dream is showing you face to face with
We are all subject to the forces of growth – it is one of the main functions of life. But because growth is a push toward change, change that we do not want to face, we often resist it, often without realising we are doing so. Psychiatrist say we have resistances to meeting the uncomfortable aspects of our self. A young woman who was anorexic dreamt of cutting off her breasts, suggesting trying to cut out the living process that was moving her into being a full woman. So such resistance can also relate to how we try to dissociate from our own process of growth and ageing.
The human personality – the You that you call yourself, with the realisation that you as a person with a name, is only a tiny thing. It is moved and tossed around by all manner of drives, ambitions, emotions, fears, temptations, worries, love and desire with its pains and hopes, we take many sorts of pain killers to deal with this meeting with ourself. Things such as alcohol, coffee, medical drugs and street drugs, and yet we are still prone to break down, as can be seen by the number of people who need antidepressants or are totally lost in themselves. Look around at the number of people who have to take anti depressant, or who have to use alcohol every day, or smoke or take other drugs – all means of not facing the difficulty of meeting self awareness which shows us the reality of an enormous giant being.
Paul Levy writing about this says: “This process can be so extreme, so radical, that the ego experiences it as death …. This experience is related to the shaman’s descent to the underworld as well as the archetypal journey of the wounded healer. See Programmed
But we have to remember that having a personality with self awareness is a very new thing and has only existed for a short time. Before that we were like animals that lived only in the Life Will – what we usually call instincts. So the development of self awareness was an immense step, and left us very vulnerable, and still does.
Many people as their awareness reaches beyond what they feel is their normal self feel scared. Such resistances cause us to create awful dreams and fears as a means of avoiding our own inner world and its wonders. We feel that we will be swallowed up and we will die. It is important to say that when we meet the experience of powerlessness through becoming aware of the hugeness of your Life, which we are usually unaware if, it feels like something alien or attacking, and it is a shock.
When we begin to meet the Hugeness that we are, we often react to it in our dreams or in waking with fear or panic. So we dream of being attacked by aliens or frightening creatures; or being swallowed by a whale or something huge, a tsunami, or even possessed by evil entities. If we realise that they are things we have created through our own fear we will pass on.
The story of Jack and the Beanstalk is about this meeting with the giant self we all are. One of my sons dreamt he climbed up the huge beanstalk and felt the presence of the Giant Being. He also felt sure they were aware of him and that they would kill him.
That is exactly what the story is about. There he finds himself exposed to many different views and opinions, one of which is that one can grow beyond the normal everyday experience of people and gain a much richer and extensive view – the magic beans, the power of personal growth.
People who never find this power of personal growth may remain stuck in life situations from which they may never emerge. The situation might be one of never establishing a full and satisfying sexual relationship; constantly feeling hurt by the actions of others; existing in a state of depression or anxiety; forever having to seek activity or company to deal with ones own inner emptiness; experiencing enormous jealousy or anxiety in a relationship; feeling you have never made it in life – the list could be endless.
This grows in him and he is enlightened by it because he is able to see a vaster view than those locked in chasing after financial riches or being lost in worldly cares or desires. But this brings him to the world of giants. As said, “The Life Will is an enormous activity, a giant in its abilities and coverage. Also, people meeting it fear they are dying or will killed. See Enlightenment
That is true, YES they will be killed, but not physically. It is a facing of the huge Life Will that seems threatening to the small and less powerful Conscious Will as the massive influx of information and experiences is released from the Life Will. See Death of Ego
If you are the giant, then it might mean you have feelings of power over others, or you are a big person. On the other hand, it might suggest you feel inferior and are compensating. A giant in a dream can also depict feelings you had about parents who, in your childhood, were giants physically and emotionally.
If someone else is the giant. then it may symbolise your relationship with them, such as feelings of inferiority, powerlessness, fear. If you take the trouble to understand what the other person signifies, apart from their size, it is often found they represent one of your emotions, fears, or ambitions, that have become too big for you to handle and have grown to giant proportions.
Childhood feelings about grownups, especially the frightening side of parents. If you are the giant, then it means you have excessive feelings of power over others, and being a big person. If someone else is the giant. then it may symbolise your relationship with them, such as feelings of inferiority, powerlessness, fear. If you take the trouble to understand what the other person signifies, apart from their size, it is often found that they represent one of your emotions, fears, or ambitions, that have become too big for you to handle and has grown to giant proportions.
There are also giant insects and creatures, and again this says their size is magnification of normal fears and feelings.
But some giant figures of not awful or destructive. These are perceptions of something that is wonderful and beyond your understanding as the following dream describes:
Example: I see this great giant of a man, I feel I mustn’t look at him in case I offend him, but he has such beautiful eyes. It is Life. I look away because I’m so uncertain. They are looking at me, those eyes. Look, isn’t it beautiful. A different sort of a human being, can I come and look at you? It’s like something everyone always dreamed about; the love you always wanted but never dared ask for. I love you. I love you. It’s the eyes of my dog as it loves me, elephants, dolphins and people who have poured out to me – life itself.
Example: It was like the end of the world. The wave of destruction and fire rolled towards us. I grabbed the girl, almost carrying her, and ran. I felt if we ran far enough, we might escape, yet somehow felt there was no escape. Now a huge giant stood upon the earth. I believe he swallowed someone. Then he explained that he had been trapped beneath earth within the pylon, behind a barrier of water, and had now escaped. He was the father of all beings, but people had never realised it. His seed had gone into the waters, and somehow fertilised things and created people. At one time he had tried to escape by coming up through the water, holding his breath, but he had not quite made it. But he had grabbed a woman and taken her back down with him.
The dreamer appears to be meeting the giant forces that are behind our own lives and existence. He feels frightened because he had never come face to face with what was behind his own life.
Example: I needed to go to the toilet to pee, and this created many bubbles in the water. As I watched something caught my attention, for it seemed that each small bubble was an eye looking up at me. Wondering what this could mean I looked more closely, to see not eyes, but I’s. Each bubble had a tiny reflection of me in it. I was amused because there were dozens of tiny copies of me all looking up at me with their separate existence.
I felt how true it is that each of us are like little bubbles, all in our own small sphere of experience. Then it struck me that although all of these tiny individuals appeared to have a separate identity, a separate body in space; and although they all had eyes with which they were looking at the world, they only had awareness out of my own consciousness. In fact they had no existence outside of me. Unknowingly they were all reflections of me.
Suddenly, and with some apprehension, I realised the meaning of this interesting dream that my unconscious had been communicating. I am a bubble. My personal awareness, although it seems distinct and separate, is in fact the reflection of one great giant consciousness pervading the universe. So who am I when my bubble bursts, as it must, and I return to my source? The fear I first felt has long melted. It has been replaced by joy as I have explored what it means to burst and return home. The giant is now a part of my life.
Useful questions and hints:
Who is the giant… myself or someone else?
Is this about feelings of having power over others, or that I want to?
At the other end of the scale, are these feelings of inferiority, powerlessness or fear?
Has some situation become too big for me to handle?
Or is this something grand I am meeting?

I was trying to fall asleep as i dramt i was in a cave and around it was see exept the entrens(there where a island) i dont remember most of the dream but i do remmember that in the cave there where evil people who wanted to kill me and every body around the cave. So they send a big amount of giants(i couldnt reconise thier face) to the cave so i started ranning to the exit of the cave in fear but the lake that was in side the cave was blocking me so it was difficult to move aginst the corrent. Whan i almost exited the cave i stopped becose of a pain in the head and i heard a reppiting word(it was someonce name). It was very sceary but i still exited the cave. Than i woke up and try to fallasleep again but the dream continud. Me and another person that i knew in the dream(i dont know how but i liked her not sexualy but as a friend) we went in side the cave again to see if there where no giants left. And than we set in the cave and talked. But then i heard foot steps of the giants and again started running against the corrent even though there was a path. I ran and left my friend behind who still sat like nothing is happening. And yet again a painin my head stoped me and i heard and sew(like subtitales) the reacoring ward “hacras” with the same voice as before but it was a diffrent word before. And the dream ended the same. I dont know what the word “hacras” means never heard that word before. If you know what that dreem meens i would realy like it if you connect to me.

Michal – I found that the word ‘hacras’ is latin, and translates into English as hacre. Looking up that word I found that it is about an illness caused by high levels of arsenic in the drinking water, which in turn is called hydroarsenicism.
A cave in a dream is like travelling back in time to your ealiest life, and so involves being influenced by your mother. That maybe why you confronted the giants, so it depicts feelings you had about parents who, in your childhood, were giants physically and emotionally.
Your running away indicates anxiety about what you are running from. It might be old painful experiences or feelings of guilt about your past experiences. Maybe it might help to use http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/secrets-power-dreaming/ – http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/example-15-life-changes/
I had a dream about a giant in a kitchen that dumped a bowl of tiny people in a pot filled with nachos and cheese and the dream was just the giant stirring the people around into the cheese. I dont remember if I was the giant or if I was a tiny person but I THINK I wasnt a part of the dream at all, just spectating. What does this mean?

Mary – Being a spectator in a dream often says that you are looking at an important theme in your life experience.
Stirring can have several meanings – stirred up – making trouble – mixing ingredients, etc.
A giant with tiny is usually used to represent a father, who is literally a giant, with children.
If I am right it means that your father had a big role trying to mix your life into the mixture he wanted, rather than letting you grow and discover who and what you are. See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/individuation/ – http://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/practical-techniques-for-understanding-your-dreams/
Many people do not realise that they have an inner father equally as powerful as an external father. You have taken in millions of bits of memory, lessons learnt, life experiences along with all the feelings or problems met by loving and living with your father, and they are what makes you the person you are. This is true even if your father was never there for you – you still have all the memories of him not being there for you filed under ‘Father’. The memories and experience we gather unconsciously change us and are not lost. It is part of you and is symbolised in dreams as a person or event. Such an inner father can appear in dreams because you are still deeply influenced by what you hold within you.
I dreamt of two giants saving me when i was about to get killed they just appeared from underground wearing some army gear. please help me understand my dream.

Daniel – Being killed or dying is a major fear for many people and that may have stimulated this dream.
We all have it – a BIG self. If you listen to your heartbeat without fear and feel it beating – it is that BIG self keeping you alive, and that is represented by your two giants. You are capable of a great deal more than you have ever been able to live. Your dreams link you with that limitless potential. In your dreams you leap beyond the limitations that usually bind and restrict you. Without effort you can fly; or you can be a visionary, looking back into past ages, or gazing into the unlimited possibilities of your future. Dreams allow you to solve intricate problems that evade you while awake – explore the complexities of a relationship by actually taking part in its drama in a full surround virtual reality – you can explore back through the strata of your lifetime to uncover past pains that still create presents discomfort. Hi, I was wondering if you could tell me what my dream means, I’ve had a few of them, all connected somehow, well here goes: I was at camp at a beach and i wa going to get my togs on when all these little kids I was camping with started screaming and running, I couldn’t see the giant but I new there was one, we had to run and hide. I ran to a car with heaps of people in it. The giant found us (like always) and the older women said the car is almost invinsable, but when the giant started pushing against a caravan she said its un invinsable to caravans, he smashed on the car (it was weird like video game because it just dissapeared we all ran away, the new theme was in a school and we where trapped, with some of my friends, they acted like there was no giant, going outside and talking, I was like the only one who new, then I woke up, I realised I was really, really hot. What does it mean? I’ve had a few dreams like these.
Please reply.
Hi – I am going to halt from answering your posts – the reason is that in so many of your post I give the same information to. This is because most people do not understand the difference between dreaming and waking life. Also I need to take time to update the site – dreamhawk.
So, most of what I put in answers is my attempt at explain what dreams are really about. It would help you to understand your dreams, if you would read – http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/questions-2/#Summing

Last night, I had a dream about two giants in front od me. At first, I was scared. I was with two people. We were riding in a car that reached to the skies. When the giants were in front of us, the car suddenly lowered down and the giants helped us across the bridge we were crossing. And after that, I felt sick because I was afraid of heights and one of the giants gave me a giant bucket to throw up on. He was being friendly, what does that mean?
Hi Tony I wonder if you could help me translate this dream I just had, and as I remember dreams often get forgotten when you wake up and this one stayed on my mind I thought there must be some meaning that I need to know, could you help me with this kind sir?
Giant Vs Giant
Dreamed of riding a banka(motorboat) we were having fun and all the driver doing some crazy stuff like driving through a non water terrain, until we went up the huge wave. going through the wave for excitement we went flying, I just held on and went to the front to get the best view it was super fun and exciting after we landed I could barely hold on and almost fell the banka stopped, then I looked around and notice one of our friends gone and I went looking for them I saw a shadow I thought it was the missing friend but It turned out to be a Whale! 2 whales to be exact and then the banka started moving again with the drivers reaction being scared, Seeing that I was too I started to swim to the banka the fastest that I could but as I recall I didn’t keep up and just had to swim the whole time. And at that time I saw one Giant at first I wasnt sure of the gender. He/She was just staring at me only his/her head was showing whole body was under the sea and then I was kinda scared and just went swimming after the banka and then right there another giant showed up, a female, stood up and she was huge and very angry and the first giant also stood up they were about the same size, and guess what, yep they fought on the seas it was intense because of the waves I could hardly see. The 2nd Giant saw me looking at her so she splashed me with water through her gigantic hand and then the 1st Giant got angry and said ” Dont Include him with this ” and then the last memory I had was like an ant, a wet ant that you try to save with your human hands destroying the body limb by limb.

Some hints about your dream – Any excitement or uncovers areas of ourself we might not have glimpsed before. In your case it showed you stuff causing you to feel scared. Scared because you met waves of emotion you were not used to. You felt threatened – keeping your head above water.
The giants were probably memories of your childhood. Their fighting caused such turbulent emotions – waves – that you felt like and insignificant ant that can be torn apart – and at that age you probably were.
I had a dream me and my partner were both giants we were in love and people were trying to reach a gold mine, because we were so big we were able to go to the mine and help ourselves and the people who needed it, there were big obstacles that we had to overcome, seams just like our lives, there were people who tried to stop us but we overcome everything and in the end we went away happy
I saw a giant man chasing and threatening me
I’ve been having a dream well more like a story that giants more like titans bring disaster in the world where they emerge from a crack in the earth, from my position I was looking at soldiers and tanks underneath a building more of a 20+ story high building and I was just staring at them firing all their arms at the huge crack that opened up then came out the titan where his head can look on top of the building I was on, I hid knowing it was dangers due to all the chaos and ruins in the city but still I felt that it was there waiting for me to come out. my dream will continue on yet I don’t know how it will end.

Your dream has great meaning, but difficult to explain in a short way, but am in the middle of writing something that I hope will. Meanwhile please see http://dreamhawk.com/inner-life/the-prophecy-of-the-star-beings/
I dreamt I was a giant but not a huge giant. I was hiding in this huge castle from the giant hunters which were normal sized people- a whole town of them. I was avoiding all the windows trying to to expose my self. It was night. They had a giant on their side that they somehow trained to kill other giants. He was rabid and manic. They ended up smoking me out with some asphyxiating plant. I was getting sleepy and weak and the last thing I said to the main normal sized human huntress women was that i’m sorry for all the violence and I hate violence.
I always had nightmares as a small child that giants chased me in my dreams. I was so scared of them. It was from when I was three years old to around six or seven. What does this mean?

Can u tell me whats the meaning of my dreams??
I had a dream that I was in these apartments that looked familiar just a bit different. I owed someone money that in real life I owe no one money and the strange thing is it what for drugs! Well anyway they were looking for me and I was hiding in the apt with school friends and a couple famous people a cleshe it was Kendall Jenner, anywho someone started throwing things at us through the window so we were ducking and it was like I knew it was for me, so I peeked outside and seen this cholo thug looking giant familiar appearance to a Spanish man I know of. I called on the main drug dealer who is a kid I use to work with at my old job he was the supposed head hancho and I knew that and in my dream he sent the giant and goons to get the money from me so I called him myself. His name is Damien, when I woke up I did have it in my head that possibly it was the devil posing as a person I know as far as the name of the kid I worked with because he is neither bad or a drug dealer. Anyway all as good after the phone call, my dream then turned into a party alls I remember is a library, pool tables:2 of them! And people coming in the apt/library to party and they all were familiar faces.
Hi wondering if u knew, I dreamt I was on a beach look out to the horizon no waves no violence it was majestic kind of reminded me of Egypt, and in the distance was a giant pharoah with a stick and he was walking slow motion accross the horizon and the moon was glowing with geometric shapes in it and the giant jumped towards it and turnt into the moons energy hen a UFO flew all the way towards my house and there were beings inside waving to me happily accidentally bumping into the side of my house
I had dream where there are two giants one is bad it was going to attack a city and one is good it was trying to defeat the bad one
I just woke up from a dream. It kept recurring and continuing after i tried falling asleep. There were giants, but everyone was running from them. You had to find the right spot to hide in, almost like some creepy sadistic game. We tried to hide but they’d always find us, including my family. There was never any blood it was like they hate our souls. There a lot of them. Nothing hurt they they just kept coming, destroying everything we created as a defense against them. Finally I had no place to run for sure. No small hole to crawl in. They caught me and I begged to become one of them. What does that mean?
