Hung Hanging
Quite a few dreams show someone, or yourself, hung by the neck. There are many possible things this might indicate. For one thing it definitely links with is death, the fear of death or the possibility of death. Such a death might be the result of self sacrifice, as shown in the Tarot card of the hanged man, or it might be as the result of social action – the cause and effect of things we have done; a punishment because of feelings of guilt.
However, many hangings are due to suicide, and so might in a dream reflect depression, loss of any pleasure in life, a retreat from pain, or feelings of hopelessness or guilt. See Suicide
Hanging on: Anything that hangs depends upon the thing it is hanging from or by. So hanging in a dream shows a state of depending for support on one thing, as shown in the dream.
It also shows dependence, fear of falling or lacking support. Or it may be you have found something to hang onto that actually supports you in an otherwise difficult situation. It is then helpful to define what it is in your waking life that is giving such support.
A person who is hanged: Awful repression of self expression, to the point of feeling dead or depressed. See: Neck.
In some dreams however, there is a different sense of the hanging. It suggests not a death but an almost complete suppression of the life in one. A strangulation of the flow of pleasure and creativity that would otherwise stream through one. In such a case the rope needs to be removed and a new way of relating to oneself developed. One can be ‘hung up on guilt’, or things are hung on something. In which case see Plot of the Dream or Processing Dreams

Hello. I’ve had a terrifying nightmare that begins with my sister in law seeing a dead person hung on a tree outside my kitchen window… when I look it has become a skeleton hanging, I scream in terror and the nightmare progresses in ways that can only be described as a living horror movie, complete with a small blonde haired, blue eyed little boy…who demands to “ let me in mommy”… it becomes extremely frightening. He is fsinegie a demonic ghost, but without black eyes…. understanding if these symbols would be appreciated. I’m very shaken, and because it occurred in my own home, I’m now very scared, please help. Thank you.
Amanda – First of all while you dream usually nothing outside you can influence you, so it is not the house that haunts you but your own fears.
For your dream clearly states that at some time in your youth you were traumatised. An example of trauma is described in the example – but in this case it wasn’t repressed by enormous fear, but in the example released.
Example: In regard to sexual touching I would like to explain my own relationship with it. You see my father was a good man, he never hit me, he never really talked to me, and he never expressed loved to me. Love – what an enormous power for good or ill that is. Its absence in a child’s life is equal to frequent beatings and being locked up in a cellar. It is an awful traumatic event. When I relived the trauma of it I was shocked at the power of it. It also opened up my awareness to that fact that I, and maybe other children in such a love empty house, would do anything to get a sign of love – I would have let my father fuck me, anything to know he wanted me! But fortunately my father was a ‘good’ man. But for a period of my life I attracted homosexuals who were, in the eyes of ‘normal’ people pillars of society, who praised me and saw I was worth something, which my father never did, and gave no praise. Fortunately, my homosexual phase never became physical, and was cured by me using https://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/opening-to-life/
In dreams we use scary images we learn mostly from horror films or books. Our dream producer uses what ever image suits the fear you have inside you. My own terror that I didn’t know how to meet was as follows:
Example: Dreaming, I heard the sound of a door creaking open which made me sit up. Then from behind me two black men who looked as if they had risen out of a grave with flesh peeling off them approached me. I quickly made the sign of the cross and said some sort of holy words and the figures disappeared. I lay back again thinking it was a good thing I knew how to get rid of them. I was still dreaming, but as soon as I settled to sleep again the door creaked open and the two figures appeared once more. This time all my hand waving and holy words had no effect on their advance, and their hands closed around my throat and I woke screaming in terror. My wife, feeling my fear, got up and we switched on all the lights.
It took years to figure what it was – I had repressed a massive part of my natural energies because my mother had terrified me that I would die if I masturbated. When we cannot live our natural self it becomes evil which is live spelt backwards. So the evil you feel is most likely your own life that had been tortured in some way and so held back.
How do they master our awful nightmares? In some way the dreamer has the courage to face what terrifies them, or they realise that dreams are just frightening images and so overcome their fear or fight fire with fire.
How do we face and overcome fear? By saying no to the urges of fear that make us run like frightened mice and hide from our own magnificence. We say no to what destroys our own best human self and live like tiny scared children in our own world of adults. We say no to the many shortcuts we constantly try to take in diving into holes to protect us from pains we have ourselves created by our avoidance’s to face what we need to grow. We are so scared of our own emotions we run and fall into the fire of the pain it causes. We say no to the urge to gorge ourselves with what our basic instincts and human weakness pushes is to do with our hunger, our sexual urge, our desire to push and tread others underfoot in order to satisfy our small selves. For each day of each minute is ours to choose the way of meeting ourselves.
It might be worth, if you have courage, to face your own evil by using https://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson
Hi last night I had a dream my husband hung himself in our bathroom .
Once I told his mother she wouldn’t let me take him down till she was able to come see him. What can this mean
Kylie – In the first place all the images, people, animals, places we see in our dreams, are simply your own feelings, fears, hopes and wonder projected onto the screen of your sleeping mind as images.
Also many people do not realise that they have an inner husband equally as powerful as an external husband. You have taken in millions of bit of memory, lessons learnt, life experiences, along with all the feelings or problems met by loving and living with your husband, and they are what makes you the person you are. This is true even if your husband was never there for you – you still have all the memories of him not being there for you filed under ‘husband’. The memories and experience we gather unconsciously change us and are not lost. It is part of you and is symbolised in dreams as a person or event. Such an inner husband can appear in dreams because you are deeply influenced by what you hold within you.
So it is in no way a prediction, but may be something you feel about him. Have you felt a loss of contact with him or felt irritated about him. Just suggestions.
On the night of the 8th June 2018
I had a dream that i was returning home to my flat and i saw a teen girl about to hang herself when i tried to stop her a dark cloud pushed me back and said no she is mine, the girl looked at me and smiled. She put the noose around her neck and then she pushed the chair away from under her. I tried to get to her to save her but the cloud was stopping me and it then said you are next. I really need to know what this means. Then the following morning i woke up in complete pain as though i had been 10 rounds in a boxing match.
Ian – First, it is important to realise that all the images, people, animals, places we see in our dreams, are simply your own feelings, fears, hopes and wonder projected onto the screen of your sleeping mind as images. So, it makes sense to take the image of your dream person, thing or animal back into you and own it.
So this also applies to the dark cloud and the girl, for they are showing you the story that is happening in your inner world. See https://dreamhawk.com/inner-life/inner-world/#MakesInner
I believe it shows you that your female self has been ignored to the point of it dying out of your awareness. See https://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/archetype-of-the-anima-the-female-in-the-male/
But on dreams whenever we dream its images are not like real life, because a dream is nothing like outer life where things could hurt you, but is an image like on a cinema screen, so that even if a gun is pointed at you and fired it can do no damage – except if you run in fear; so, all the things that scare you are simply your own fears projected onto the screen of your sleeping mind. So the girls can never die except to your awareness of her.
The cloud is your undealt with emotions and even traumas we all have that block your creativity and oneness within yourself.
To avoid repeating myself please see https://dreamhawk.com/forums/index.php?topic=4622.0

I had a dream, it was a dark creepy hospital and these two women were informed that their grandmother went to her hospital room and hung herself outside the window.
I had a dream about a man that I do not know I have never seen a man of his description before, he was honestly very scary looking. In my dream this man hung himself in my closet with a belt. I remember in the dream I was the one who put the belt around his neck and then I closed the closet door so I couldn’t see him do it. In the dream the next day I asked my mom if she got rid of the body and she was like “yeah he’s in the dumpster”. I was so scared when I woke up in the morning, I was terrified to open my closet. I have no idea why I would have a dream like this especially because I don’t know the man who was in it.
My boss dreamt that he was being hanged by a mob along with me, and I had already died. What does it mean
Rini – Nearly always when people dream about someone they know or a strange new person or situation they automatically believe the dream is about that person, situation, or animal. But it is usually their own thoughts or feelings that are portrayed as the person or even the animal; for when we think of our friend or partner our thoughts are not them – just our thoughts and feelings about them.
So whatever your boss thinks or feel about you, that part of him along with his self image is feeling threatened, probably by feelings such as a strangulation of the flow of pleasure and creativity that would otherwise stream through him. In such a case the rope needs to be removed and a new way of relating to oneself developed. He might use https://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/secrets-power-dreaming/
I had a dream that I was at my home w my mom Nd she told me to look outside Nd it was a black woman hanging by her neck from a tree in my front yard dead than the police had cut her down Nd when she got on the floor she looked at me in my eyes for a while than just walked away. What could this mean? (One of my Creepiest dreams)
Last night I dreamed about a friend of mine hanging himself by the neck, he was almost unconscious when we noticed him and in my dreamed it was strange because I was able to fly, I flew towards him and helped untie the rope in his neck and I brought him home, then he lived. What does this mean?

Rioneńa – It is also important to realise that every image, every scary or terrifying thing, is taken place inside you, in your mind, as you sleep. This means that every awful animal, every scary thing, or person, is created out of your own fears and must not be seen as outside you as happens in waking awareness.
And nearly always when people dream about someone they know or a strange new person or situation they automatically believe the dream is about that person, situation, or animal. But when we think of our friend or partner our thoughts are not them – just our thoughts and feelings about them.
So your dreamed of friend refers to your feelings about him, in fact when you think about a lover, a friend or a person you know, you are only taking in your thoughts, impressions and feelings about them. So many people do not realise that they have an inner person equally as powerful as the external person you know. You have taken in millions of bits of memory, lessons learnt, life experiences along with all the feelings or problems met by meeting or living with them, and they change you and make you the person you are.
I feel that you had strong emotions about the man, and in your dream you saw him as a part of you dying. But through your care and love you flew to that part of you and saved it.
I had a dream that my school went on a lock down from a shooter outside the school but then all the kids looked out the window and there was a hanging body. I’ve had one other dream with someone committing suicide but I don’t know what it means.
I had a dream about seeing an execution by hanging. It first started with me being in court hearing the verdict and all 3 were found guilty and sentenced to death by hanging. Then it skipped to where the hanging was taking place a park right across my house over looking a river. The 3 people being hanged were my cousin, twin brother, and mother in law in that order. The strange part was i didnt see no one being hung when my cousin went up i wasnt paying attention im not sure what distracted me but didnt see it, i could just see her body in the back of a wagon of some sort. It was my brothers turn next but he had to take a piss before his hanging, he took a piss by some tree and as he was in my mind i told myself i wish he could have a quick and painless death and as i said that a grenade came out of nowhere between his legs and blew him up. Everyone (family) saw his corpse fly everywhere so we all ran towards the biggest piece we could find of him. It flew a good block away from us when we reached it, it was his torso my other brother got a stick and poked it and a lot of fluids started coming out of it. I actually felt way better than seeing him hung to death because i know it was instant he didnt feel no pain. Most of my family went back to my house i decided to go back to the park to support my gf because her mom was next. As i was walking down the executioner gave them time to talk to each other so her, her mom, and aunt walked to the edge of the river. That is he last thing i remember, can anyone explain any of this, take note i never saw anyone being hung does this make a difference?
I had a dream that my father who hung himself years ago had hung himself what does this mean.
I had a dream that a priest whom i never saw in real but was familiar with him in my dream … I saw him he was teaching me something (talking about something Spiritual )i cannot remember what after i wake up but then he suddenly stopped talking and went towards a Jungle where there was a not so long but deep lake … No matter how i try i just cannot remember what he said before dying but he committed suicide …

Raj – You were dreaming and are in a totally different dimension than the waking world you are used to. So just a couple of things about the world of dreams: 1) Whenever we dream its images are not like real life, because a dream is nothing like outer life where things could hurt you, but is an image like on a cinema screen that even if a gun is pointed at you and fired it can do no damage – except if you run in fear; so all the things that scare you are simply your own fears projected onto the screen of your sleeping mind. So no one can die in dreams, but obliviously you can ‘dream’ of dying.
2) All the people, animals, places you see in your dreams, are simply your own feelings, fears, hopes and wonder projected onto the screen of your sleeping mind as images. To catch up on these differences see

So the hidden spiritual teacher is actually represents your connection with the whole of life, with collective wisdom, or the collective unconscious, as it relates to your life. You are the product of an egg and a sperm that are the descendants of other cells that began when life on Earth began with single celled creatures, so your seed is in a sense, immortal. But no plant or tree grows from a dead seed, and each living seed carries within it all the past gathered from all its forebears. So you have a very long history and of course memory.
This suggests that in fact your personality is only a small part of a huge memory, memory people call the unconscious. That is where the wisdom comes from that your dream images as an invisible voice
The jungle in dreams indicates that the long memory you gathered from the past ‘seeds’ suggests that you can become aware of your primitive past – the jungle. There you became aware of a deep lake. That is a symbol that indicates that you can explore the very deepest parts of your nature by dying – that is leaving behind your thinking conscious personality and
You need to clear at least part of your consciousness of preconceived ideas, biases, convictions, rigid emotions, and unconscious habits, and so on, you cannot conceive new realisations from your own inner possibilities, and you cannot give birth to the awareness of that Mystery that you are, to the real you. Basically this is very practical. In trying to remember someone’s name you may fail utterly because you are certain it begins with ‘S’ – when in fact it begins with ‘B’. You will never remember the name until you drop your preconception. It might help to use http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/secrets-power-dreaming/
