Fourteen years ago an earnest gardener noticed that when he threw grapefruit seeds onto his compost heap they did not rot. Fortunately, being both a doctor and an Einstein Laureate physicist who specialised in finding natural remedies, he investigated. The result was a remarkable discovery The extract he made from the grapefruit seeds may turn out to be the most potent and benign antimicrobial so far discovered.
Could we have
Discovered the near
perfect antimicrobial?
Use it on your toothpaste to banish aching teeth!

A few drops of Dr. Harich’s grapefruit seed extract, (gse), in a glass of water could put a stop to the flu or a sore throat. It could also help control Candida or gingivitis, and it’s been known to banish athlete’s foot in a single application. It is highly effective against diarrhoea and food poisoning, it could rid you of worms or parasites, it can even stop you going down with cholera or dysentery when travelling abroad. it is very much more potent than tea tree oil. The best news is it is natural, inexpensive and non toxic.

What was so surprising about Dr. Harich’s new discovery was how broad it’s uses turned out to be. Conventional antibiotics only kill bacteria. GSE has been shown to inactivate viruses, yeasts, fungi, parasites and worms, as well as bacteria. What’s in there that makes it work really isn’t known,” Dr.: Leo Gallard has been prescribing GSE to New York patients for over 7 years, told Natural Health Magazine, “There’s just something unique about this particular substance.

Whatever it does, it does it without debilitating side effects and it has the advantage of being very safe”.

Dr. Louis Parish MD, an investigator for the US Department of Health and the FDA, who has treated many people with intestinal problems, including dysentery, believes that GSE, “Gives more symptomatic relief than any other treatment.”

“Conventional antibiotics only kill bacteria. The grapefruit seed extract has been shown to inactivate viruses, yeasts, fungi, parasites and worms as well as bacteria.”

“Studies from a list of prestigious institutes have demonstrated grapefruit seed extract to be effective against over twenty disease-causing bacteria, more than thirty fungi, and a host of single cell parasites”
Allan Sachs DC

Leading American chiropractor Allan Sachs DC took part in clinical research on the new extract when it first became available. He and his colleagues drew up a list of criteria and evaluated GSE for each of them. After evaluating it he reported, “I was astounded to find that it scored high marks for each category. Could we have discovered the near perfect antimicrobial? For instance, studies from a list of prestigious institutes have demonstrated GSE to effective against over 20 disease causing bacteria, more than 30 fungi, and a host of protozoa (single cell parasites).
When suffering an acutely painful attack of arthritis in my left hip I tried taking GSE in desperation more than in hope of help. Within a few hours of the first dose (15 drops in water) the pain left me and has not returned in that degree – Tony Crisp.

I have used GSE on two warts, and after daily usage over a couple of weeks, the warts fell off. I used the GSE neat.

Several of the viruses studied also succumbed to the extract.

Fortunately GSE does not seem to disturb beneficial gut bacteria. One study which tested the effect of GSE on eczema patients (who frequently have fungal and bacterial infections) found that it significantly inhibited Candida albicans and E. Coli, but left the important Bifidobacteria unchanged, and only slightly reduced the Lactobacilli. Their patients’ constipation, flatulence and abdominal discomfort all improved.

A Major
breakthrough for patients…

Remarkably, this botanical extract seems to tackle at least some viruses. It is too early to say how many, William Shannon. head of the Microbiology-Virology Division at Southern Research Institute found that GSE was effective against herpes simplex and one of the influenza viruses. Interlab, a South American laboratory found that it inactivated the measles virus, and the US Department of Agriculture found that it was effective against four animal viruses, including foot and mouth disease and African swine fever. Other laboratory tests have shown that GSE will kill many of the microbes which commonly infect us, including; streptococci, staphylococci, salmonella, pseudomonas, giardia, lysteria, legionella, helicobacter pylori and capylobacter jejuni.

Chronic candiasis can be successfully treated with GSE according to the many clinics and medical practitioners now prescribing it.

“Dr. Leo Galland, who prescribes grapefruit seed extract for
chronic candidiasis has reported
treatment failure in only two out of 297 cases.
And considers it to be a major therapeutic breakthrough
for patients with chronic parasitic and yeast infections.”

Regarding resistant patients Dr. Galland commented, “I have had some immuno-suppressed patients taking the preparation for over a year with no apparent development of side effects or drug resistance (resistance of infective microbes to the extract)” Researchers at the Pasteur Institutes hospital in Nairobi have been using with GSE with HIV patients for over two years and report dramatic results with secondary infections, including parasitic infections and thrush. GSE is so safe that you can use a mild solution on a baby’s bottom for nappy rash.

Normally GSE comes as a concentrate of which you use a few drops at a time dissolved in a glass of water or juice. To stave off a cold you could drink some in a hot drink, repeating, if necessary a few hours later. In areas where diarrhoea is a problem a little can be taken each morning as a preventative. The concentrate is extremely strong and must always be diluted and never used in the eyes. GSE is incredibly versatile. You can gargle with it for sore throats and gum infections. You can even douche with it. Try adding it to your shampoo to control dandruff.

The only side effect that has been noticed is an occasional mild discomfort when yeast or bacteria begin a ‘die off” process. Starting on just a few drops a day and raising it gradually will minimise this. Often taking a probiotic supplement is appropriate as well. For maximum effect they should be taken several hours apart.

Natural Disinfectant

Besides it’s multiple uses within the human body, GSE has many more applications. Tests at the University of Georgia, confirmed by labs and clinics around the world, have shown that it is a first class disinfectant. Not only does it kill germs effectively, but unlike most disinfectants, it has virtually no toxicity, making it far safer to use.

Already it is being used by hospitals in America.

At home it can safely be used to wash fruit and salad vegetables, to clean chopping boards, and to sterilise food utensils (or your toothbrush) when needed.

This discovery has shown that GSE has so many uses that the moral may turn out to be:

Don’t leave home without it!

A doctor from Orlando was travelling in South America when his companion was struck with severe diarrhoea after eating wayside strawberries. Having GSE to hand he gave his friend some immediately and another dose before going to bed. The next day, Dr. Lynn reported that his friend, “Was down to breakfast and eating. No further bowel problems.”

I found out that I have h. pylori from my doctor…no antibiotics but I been taking GSE for almost a week – 2 pills (total 500mg) every 8hrs and drinking unrefined vco 2-3x’s a day. I want to know how long do I take GSE to help eradicate h. pylori? I was told to do it for 2wks max…but from reading the comments, it seems like its longer…If you can get back to me, that would be awesome! Thanks

MS – I am passing you post on to the GSE expert. You should hear from him fairly soon.

-HR Singh 2014-09-27 0:45:10

it is a wonderful extract which cures diverticulitis, allergies and many other problems.

-prue 2014-09-25 1:19:08

I have been told to put 2 drops into a capsule and take it this way, which is best, capsule or in water ?

    -Tony Crisp 2014-09-26 8:20:13

Prue – GSE is quite powerful if taken neat, as it would be in a capsule. So I suggest taking it in water. But 2 drops is only used as a beginning for a full treatment.

Hello Tony, I noticed you had a stroke in 2010, congrats on the recovery, I was wondering is GSE something you introduced into your regiment after the stroke as a preventative.

    -Tony Crisp 2012-06-19 10:47:03

Sarah – I don’t think taking GSE will prevent you from becoming pregnant, but I will pass your post on to Mike Tanner who is an expert on GSE.

-Anita 2011-09-30 11:40:14

I suffer from giardia and antibiotics don’t seem to work in my case. I would like to know which dosage is best used against giardia.
Thank you

    -Tony Crisp 2011-10-31 11:13:26

    Dear Anita,

    Anita – Here is the advice from Mike Tanner who wholesales GSE. Mike ;

It is best to start with a lowish dose, say 5 drops x 3 times a day and if you feel OK with this then gradually increase to 15 drops x 3 Times a day.

Once at the high dose then maintain this for 8 weeks and then assess the situation.

Please contact me if you have any further queries.

    All the best,

have used grapefruit seed extract for years and swear by it. Was introduced to it by Idit Hourigan, Shiatsu Pract from Cork, long time ago. Have a friend with Lymes disease (from ticks) , would this extract be of any help as Lymes has taken hold of this person, lots of symptoms and antibiotics being ladled out by the ton with little result. It has cured all sorts from tummy bugs to athletes foot, warts and bites for my family and we always take it on holidays. Would be delighted to think it could be of help with this Lymes Disease. thank you.

    -Tony Crisp 2011-10-31 11:54:54

Hilary – I asked my friend Mike to comment. He is the wholesaler in Ireland.

    Dear Hilary,

GSE would most likely to be helpful as it is effective at killing bacteria however if the condition has existed for some time then there may well be other problems which can be difficult to eradicate as they could be caused by the bodies auto immune system being compromised.

I know of no reason that would prevent the use of GSE, other than the use medicines contraindicated for grapefruit. So it would be worth giving it a try since it is possible that other ‘nasties’ such as parasites may have moved in at the same time and it is possible that GSE would help against them.

Please write if you have any further queries and I will do my best to help.

-Drea 2011-06-21 6:13:20

I am pregnant and I believe a am suffering from parasites….what would be a good dose of GSE to help me?

    -Tony Crisp 2011-06-30 10:10:28

Drea – I have passed this on to the producer of GSE. He usually answers quickly and I will post it.

    -Tony Crisp 2011-06-30 13:55:14

Drea – Here is the reply from the manufacturer.

Re GSE and pregnancy my usual comment is to try a low dose and see how you feel as your body should give you an indication as to if it is OK.

I know of no specific contra-indications with pregnancy, however there is little data.

In general it is better not to take unnecessary stuff when pregnant however one has to balance the options and choose the way of least harm.

For me this would be GSE as opposed to having the parasites. So start at three drops in glass of water (or orange juice if you prefer), and if there are no indications of difficulty slowly rise to 12 drops.

What is the recommended dosage for chronic systemic candida overgrowth problem? As well, what is the maximum safe dosage?

-Tony Crisp 2011-03-23 10:22:48

I am so sorry I have only just seen this. I believe it will be okay, but will pass this on to the expert. He will answer.

I only look at things that are sent as I go through them in date order.

-Ricky Gallaher 2011-01-13 3:51:43

I started taking Proceed Grapefruit Seed extract made by GS Technologies, Inc. and claims to be “derived solely from vegetarian sources ( for detail see ).” I am taking 2 capsules 3 times per day (dose every 8 hours) after my doctor said she could not cure my H. Pylori e stomach germ because I cannot take any form of Penicillin along with the other drugs necessary to cure my disease. After 6 months of taking GSE on the regimen stated above, I have less stomach problems (all ulser symptoms) than I have had in years since I contracted the H. Pylori e germ and believe that I am much better taking my GSE product, grapefruit seed extract, than not taking it.

Then, I began to read several articles online that have caused me fear. My main concern found in the article online at . The parts of the article that concern/scare me are:

“commercial grapefruit seed extracts contain benzethonium chloride, a synthetic antimicrobial agent commonly used in cosmetics and only approved for topical use”

“it is concluded that the potent as well as nearly universal antimicrobial activity being attributed to grapefruit seed extract is merely due to the synthetic preservative agents contained within. Natural products with antimicrobial activity do not appear to be present.”

The article online at and other sources online, maybe authored by the same source, are trying to stop the use of all grapefruit seed extract products, including your product, is actually working by using synthetic chemicals such as “benzethonium chloride” that tend to kill/impede the growth of harmful germs and fungus:

“the potent as well as nearly universal antimicrobial activity being attributed to grapefruit seed extract is merely due to the synthetic preservative agents contained within. Natural products with antimicrobial activity do not appear to be present.”

I do not want to quit taking your Proceed Grapefruit Seed extract product, so I thought I should contact some appropriate authority such as the company that makes it, which I did two weeks ago, but they will not respond by email and their is no other contact number. So, I thought I would contact some other sources such as you to help me find the truth about this version of GSE. Can you help me or forward my email to someone that can reassure me that your product’s active ingredients are not toxic as stated in the article that claims to be based in scientific research.

I hope you can give me some answer to my question about GSE’s saftey.

    -Tony Crisp 2011-01-17 13:20:15

Ricky – I sent you post to the owner of Citricidal who as he says, sells tons of it – and he means in weight. His name and email are Mike Tanner

    Dear Tony, and Ricky,

The H. Pylori is an interesting one – the guy who came up with the theory tested the concept on himself. He was a voice in the wilderness but has now been given the recognition due to him.

This contamination issue is an ongoing problem that has been around for years.

I do not have a definitive answer.

Biochem who were the manufacturers of Citricidal were adamant that nothing was added.

Citricidal is actually a copy and my main business is with the original product.

I have had this extensively tested and there was nothing showing down to 50 parts per million.

I have seen test results for Citricidal showing none and over 20%, both from reputable laboratories who are measuring in parts per million!!!

The most reassuring information is that neither myself, or any other large vendor of GSE, is aware of any problems that could be ascribed to GSE other than not reading the label and using it without dilution, Herxheimer’s or ‘Die off’ which is caused by the toxins released when fungi are killed and to take care with some blood pressure medications. I personally sell tons of GSE a year (literally) and I am sure that if the contaminants mentioned were in the product there would have been many people complaining about bad reactions by now. GSE has been selling for over 25 years with millions of customers.

If you have any further questions Ricky I will be happy to try and answer them for you.

    All the best,

      -Nancy 2014-01-16 11:37:38

Thanks for the clarification about the safety of GSE. There are websites out there who say some terrible things about it:

But you seem to counter this story. So how would a patient with chronic h. pylori take it safely?
      Appreciate your advice,

        -Tony Crisp 2014-01-17 11:31:32

Nancy – Apparently some GSE have been produced that have dangerous elements in, and so there wild stories have been circulated. But I am passing on you email to an expert and producer of GSE who will advice.

-Tina Palacios 2010-11-30 17:07:43

I love GSE and highly recommend it.

    -Tony Crisp 2010-12-02 11:55:04

Tina – I love GSE too. A friend of mine introduced me to it and I carry it every where I go, because it has so many uses. The friend, Mike Tanner, imports it, and he has some wonderful lozenges – great for throats or to ward of the beginnings of infection. His website is at
