Ill Illness

Dreaming of illness is often a way of showing you that you have painful feelings or feelings of anger or resentment which are held within that need to be attended to. Often these feelings were experienced and not fully felt at an earlier period of your life, and now need to be healed or released. At the very least they need understanding. Do ask yourself though, if this is the way you get love, by being ill.

Sometimes however, dreams about illness show the early signs of breakdown in your body. If you are having worrying dreams, have a check-up with your doctor. Tests have shown that men with serious illness have often dreamt about death, and women with such illnesses have dreamt about breakup and separation.

Occasionally illness depicts the way we attempt to get love or attention – by being ill; sometimes relates to our actual physical body, but quite rarely; also may show our intuitions about the physical condition of someone else.

If there is any feeling of illness connected with that part of the body, if there is anything to be ashamed of, if there is anything hidden, then by bringing yourself back to the whole it will be revealed and healed. Life will touch it and lift it out of you. We need to be aware of the feelings of defeat and of failure that feedback into our system and are often causes of illness.

Even our thoughts that our body or part of it is ill can be an awful thing if held onto for some time. For our body is as sensitive as any animal, and our thoughts can cling and destroy. We need to say sorry to our body for making it feel unclean or sick. Open it to the life that flows through you and it will clear away those influences.

Strangely, for both the Africans and Artemidorus, the dreams of illness and death signified the opposite, recovery. I believe this was to give them a release from fear of illness. The same is employed in many so called dream interpretation books, they give not a meaning of a dream, but good or bad luck suggestions. See: infection; body; mental illness.

Example: I can’t ask for what? Love? I can’t ask for love so I killed myself to get it. I could see a lot of truth in this. How I felt I couldn’t go and get a girl, but would act as if I were sick or miserable to get love, how perhaps much of my illness in the past was a desperate plea for love.

Example: Yes, kaleidoscopic patterns were moving and changing faster, speeding up and getting lighter. First of all just colour, movement and intensity, then it burst into a direct awareness of energy in my being vibrating faster and faster. I could feel it moving each side of my spine, actually vibrating. It got more and more intense until suddenly it felt like the energy had cleared all its pathways and was vibrating at tremendous speed without barriers.

What does it do? What can be done with it? I could be a lot more frightened and self-destructive with that amount of energy. If I used my energy toward creativity and life enhancement, then that’s what the energy would do. It could heal or cause illness, give peace or restlessness, wisdom or folly. It would fill whatever one put before it

In fact it cleared so much pain, darkness and anxiety out of my soul, I felt a peaceful joy shining from me and obstructed by the anxieties I have felt of late. It brought clearness, calm confidence, open warmth.

Hi all – I had a very strange dream. I dreamt that an old school friend of mine was sick, terminal sick but he didn’t look it – he was in attendance. We were in a store front type place and we were all in line to say condolences to his mother and young brother. it was stormy out / daytime. My friend is Black but his mother was portrayed white in the dream and her “job” was being a key bearer. As I was second in-line to approach the mother, a wind gust took the front door off and blew away. Then we were ushered towards the back of the hall, away from the stormy front. Then I woke up.

Hi – It would help you to understand your dreams, if you would read – http://dreamhawk.com/news/summing-up/ and also http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/features-found-on-site/ which has so much information in.

Nothing can replace your own ability to understand your dream. With a little effort you can do this by practising what is described in – http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson or http://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/getting-at-your-dreams-meaning/

Stella – It is not your friend you are dreaming of, but your feelings about them. When you think about a friend or a person you know, you are only taking in your thoughts, impressions and feelings about them. So many people do not realise that they have an inner person equally as powerful as the external person you know. You have taken in millions of bits of memory, lessons learnt, life experiences along with all the feelings or problems met by meeting or living with them, and they change you and make you the person you are. The memories and experience we gather unconsciously change us and are not lost. It is part of you and is symbolised in dreams as a person or event. Such an inner person can appear in dreams because you still carry the memories or impressions of them, and so they influenced what you hold within you.

So, your dream is saying that part of you symbolised by the friend is sick – terminally sick. Nothing can hurt you in your dreams. You cannot be killed in a dream. All you can experience is the anguish and perhaps fear of dying, but in dreams you cannot die – or drown, or burn or any other threatening thing. We make the mistake of taking our very real values from our outer life into our inner life of dreams. It sounds like you are experiencing big life changes, where a part of you is past its sell by date, and will be replaced by an up to date you. This happens all the time – remember being a child and then being reolaced by a teenager; it happens all the time.

You, in changing are, or will, face some turbulent emotions – the storm.

The move is from a state of being hardly aware of what is happening to you and becoming more awake. The key is in the ‘mother’. It might relate to your mother and what traits she passed on to you – find out be being the dream mother – http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson

I found this site while surfing the internet and was hoping you might be able to help me out? Last night i had a nightmare that shook me to my core so much so i was having anxiety attacks for most of the day.

So in the dream everything is out of focus and i am in emense pain with a high fever. My body parts start to lock in the most uncomfortable positions and all i can do is groan and thrash around. I am in a black tank top with red pands and i can hear some voices telling some one that there is no cure for what i have. I remember trying to hold still so i could see who was talking but my body would not allow me. I woke up gasping for air. My shirt was all twisted and basicly falling off and my hands were cramped in a concering way. The only thing i can compare it to was seeing some one go into an agressive siezure or some form of parkinson’s disease.

Your imput would be greatly appreciated especially since this dream was 100 percent lucid. I woke up sweating, groaning, and my body was shaking for a good hour after getting to work.

I dreamed of two separate work places. I worked on the progressive side but had to go to the conservative side to clarify some things. I spoke loudly to deliver something to someone, when I delivered, the man mocked me.
In the same place, an old, white haired woman took me aside and assumed I was pregnant and started advising me. I told her I was not pregnant and then she assumed I had an illness. When I told her I did not, she then said, “Oh it is me who has the illness, but make sure they do not insert that object in you because it only caused me more bleeding.” In the dream she was speaking about her abdominal / ovaries area.
Later, I retrieved to a beautiful igloo and the sun shined through it. The igloo was glorious, and I shut the door to be alone.

-Maria 2016-10-21 10:11:38

I had a dream that my family went on vacation and we tasted many delicious foreign foods and then I dreamt of an old friend that I had a bad falling out with in reality and we don’t speak anymore, the last part of my dream scared me because I dreamt I was with my son and he had become very sick and there was mucus everywhere so I let him rest but then later in the dream myself and some family were at a restaurant and myou son and another child were singing and dancing for us but then he began to foam at the mouth and sweating perfusely and he began to stare into the distance so I grabbed him and started to snap my fingers near his ear to check if yes was responsive and he was not so I told everyone what I was seeing the unresponsiveness, the sweating, and the foaming of the mouth and told everyone that someone needed to call 911. He collapsed in my arms and I woke up screaming still in my dream. What does this mean?

    -Tony Crisp 2016-10-24 9:36:03

Maria – Whenever we dream its images are not like real life, because a dream is nothing like outer life where things could hurt you, but is an image like on a cinema screen, so that even if a gun is pointed at you and fired it can do no damage – except if you run in fear; so all the things that scare you are simply your own fears projected onto the screen of your sleeping mind.

Nearly always when people dream about someone they know, a family member or a strange new person or situation they automatically believe the dream is about that person, situation or animal. But when we think of our friend or partner our thoughts are not them – just our thoughts and feelings about them.

The things you associate or feel about your son are the way dreams work. Obviously you associated feelings of sickness, vulnerability with your son. But I am only guessing what you real feelings about your son are. But also, when you think about your son or a person you meet, you are only taking in your thoughts, impressions and feelings about them. So many people do not realise that they have an inner person equally as powerful as the external person you know. You have taken in millions of bits of memory, lessons learnt, life experiences along with all the feelings or problems met by meeting or living with them, and they are what makes you the person you are. The memories and experience we gather unconsciously change us and are not lost. It is part of you and is symbolised in dreams as a person or event. Such an inner person can appear in dreams because you still carry the memories or impressions of them, and so they influenced what you hold within you.

So, it is not your son that is feeling ill, but it is about the living memories you hold inside you that need attention. To do this you need to use http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson

Dreamt i had met a doctor, a love interest, him, his mother and another person(someone close to me but dont know who) was there, we were in a very big room, a hospital, and they checked me out after, I walked up the stairs to see the doctoe, the focus had been on my lower back and then he asked me if I was a bad alcoholic or drug addict, there were spots on my lower back indicating a disease assoc. with that– any ideas?

    -Tony Crisp 2016-10-03 11:11:34

Plee – The hospital suggests you were in a healing process. Walking up the stairs means you were making a move to climb out of a situation, probably to do with the doctor and your back.

The lower back is often a site not of damage but of stress, of emotions you have not expressed, but live inside you unexpressed. These can cause a loss of confidence and fears of being injured.

The doctors question about alcoholism or drug abuse is really about whether you are able to live your life with confidence, or needing things to cover up your emotions and lack of self-esteem by seeking ways of avoiding your problems.

I dream about being diagnosis of LINEAR? don’t what that is but through the dream, nurses had given me options on how to cure it. First i need to take a high dose medication and then lastly would be surgery. My reaction during that dream though is somewhat I am feeling empty and don’t know how to deal with it or what would be my reaction. Then the nurse on my dream asked me if I am being serious towards it beacause the illness they say i have is something serious. So I’m confuse as to what does this dream means?

-Mary 2016-04-12 13:38:50

okay i haven’t posted to this site in awhile, but here’s a dream i just had last night. i thought it was super strange and wanted some insight.

I’ll keep it short…and I’ll get to the part that i’m questioning about quickly… I will point out that before this dream, my throat was extremely sore and i was loosing my voice. I thought I was getting really sick.

So anyway, in the dream,

I was setting at a round table with a bunch of strangers. There were was this other girl setting next to me. Some guy behind me slit both of our throats and I felt the pain. I also felt the gushing of the blood. A nurse appeared and gave me a glass of water in which she dropped in two tablets that caused the water to fizz. She told me to drink and that it would heal me. I did as I was told because I didn’t want this pain anymore. As I did it, the water tasted salty and was really fizzy, but it indeed healed my throat. It closed my wound up and i felt amazing. She did the same for the other woman and which she also felt great again. I couldn’t believe it. I woke up after that.

Not only did the water heal me in my dreams but apparently I felt amazing. My throat was no longer sore and i felt as though I no longer had a cold…

Is it possible for dreams to heal sickness? I’m none for having strange dreams like this and I want to know am i crazy! I don’t get it.

Any help or interpretation no matter how small would be awesome.

The last 2 nights I had dreams of terminal illness. The first time my husband had tetanus. The second time, in my dream, I had an impending aneurysm. Both times I was awaiting death. Been trying to figure out the meanings. I believe it has a lot to do with marital problems. My husband and I are in counseling. Any extra insight would be wonderful!

I have been dating my boyfriend going on three years. In the first year we found out he has HSV-2 better known as Genital Herpes. I have been tested twice and my results have come back negative both times.
However, I keep having reoccurring dreams that I too have the disease. In my dream the dis-ease will present its self on my thighs.
Last night I had a dream that an old coworker showed me a collage of six different pictures she had on her phone. She said it was the different stages of a rash she had. I told her it looked like genital herpes and she should get it checked. She asked me if I have genital herpes and I said “no”
Yet I was kind of ashamed when I told her no, because deep down inside I felt like I may have it.
I am also afraid to be tested for a third time, I don’t want to find out that I too indeed have HSV-2, and it going on my health record.
Does anyone have any advice or knowledge as to what this may mean?!

With love.

    -Kurt 2016-02-06 22:24:28

It’s probably just you worrying about it. But if you are having unprotected sex there is always a chance of getting it. I have it as well. Not a huge deal.

-Sophie 2015-03-27 19:08:20

My friend has these things where she has a random dream then a couple hours later she gets flash backs of the dream then it makes her feel really sick and she throws up but when this happens she can’t remember anything that’s happened from when she woke up.

I’m quite spiritual so I think there is more to it than physical health but I just can’t work it out, her dream this time was that people from her school( random people) where playing cards and then they all just stopped and looked round at her then she woke up. Any help here?

    -Anna 2015-03-28 7:21:47

Sophie – I think the best way to help your friend is to advice her to look for professional psychological help. Since you have become aware that this is something you cannot handle; I feel it is more loving and more responsible – both towards yourself and your friend – to respect your own limits.
    Anna 🙂
