Lava

Deeply buried past experience which has pushed to the surface; heated emotions and sexuality; sometimes physical illness such as fever. Unconscious contents that have emerged under pressure and heat of emotion.

But the lava is often your own deep centre or core self pouring up its energy into your daily life. Jumping into it is a way to face and meet any fears connected with your huge potential. If you do it several times the fear or difficult feelings will gradually disappear.

Lava pouring over a landscape is a sign that huge inner changes are trying to emerge, and if not dealt with could cause difficulties.

Example: I noticed that the river wasn’t water and that it was lava. I watched as the lava was emanating from the center of the river and I knew I had to cross it but I didn’t know how I could. Just then, to my surprise, an elephant’s trunk emerged from the lava. At first I thought it was dead, but then I learned it was alive and moving and beginning to ascend. My fear from the lava diminished as soon as I saw this and somehow I made it across. I wondered how the elephant was immune to the lava and admired its strength.

Example: I can remember being dressed as an heroic warrior running through crowds of people or soldiers who were trying to stop me. I pushed or knocked them aside and ran toward what was a huge caldera – the mouth of a volcano. It was hugely deep, and in its depths was a massive glow from volcanic lava. But I knew that this was the core of myself, so I ran and leapt into the void falling into what I knew or felt sure was the light at the core of my being.

Example: I realised that hell is hell and will never be anything else. I felt that there was some thing deeper and so I kept to a centre line, again there was no feeling and so I turned toward the god dream that I had. The look of total love for me in his eyes gave me the strength to trust my own process. I then went into fantasy, God holding my hand and picking up all the people and events in my life and placing them all together on a stone alter, which he then placed me upon and told me to surrender and allow myself to die. This I did and images of great water falls, and molten lava flows filled my being. Then the crisis broke through, and there I was in the kids home, the orphanage, as my father was leaving, I saw my self, or I should say my being go out to him. I felt that if I loved him he wouldn’t leave us. I then saw that I was already bonded to my mother and in that moment of transference there was guilt and I was caught in the middle, then he left creating a schism in which I was left in my spine with a personality on either side. Schizophrenia is the word that covers this state: Schizophrenia a mental disease marked by a breakdown in the relation between thoughts, feelings, and actions, frequently accompanied delusions and retreat from social life.

I then felt what I would call the primal scream emerge from my being and then I was through. I then saw the dogs as my anxieties that have taken up two thirds of my being constantly tearing me apart, also saw that as a kid I didn’t have enough information to redirect the energy elsewhere.

Example: I saw the whole village covered in lava. I explored it both watching panic as well as while all the people were asleep. Afterward there was a period of quiet where everything was still and then life came back…the soil was renewed and some of the people emerged from the village as new glowing beings in human form only not human as before, and others didn’t emerge at all. The past had been burned away – transformed and I intuitively knew that they were going to create a whole new village and community based on their new way of being…new ways of perceiving and doing things…all wonderfully new and evolved. I see these as aspects of myself and this whole process of change underway. Also, just after recording the dream I sensed that the lava erupting was really some kind of eruption of love from within that just needed to be allowed. ~DT

I (male, 18) had a dream where my younger sister (female, 14) and I were hanging out at our house, and for some reason there was a lava moat around the house with what seemed to be a rather sturdy wooden bridge going over it. We were talking on the bridge and suddenly the wood underneath her snapped and she fell through to the lava below… she reached up to try to grab at something but I wasn’t able to grab her in time… she fell to the lava and I was stuck there to watch her sink into it as it burned her… the scene was so vivid. For some reason her reaching upwards and the fact that there was literally nothing I could do about it is what stuck out and has been terrifying me every time I think about it. Afterwards my parents asked where she was and when I told them she fell they didn’t believe me and just thought that she was off somewhere, as like they knew I was telling the truth but refused to believe it… if I had to describe how I felt the entirety of the dream it was helpless..

Hi – It would help you to understand your dreams, if you would read – http://dreamhawk.com/news/summing-up/ and also http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/features-found-on-site/ which has so much information in.

Nothing can replace your own ability to understand your dream. With a little effort you can do this by practising what is described in – http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson or http://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/getting-at-your-dreams-meaning/

    Tony

Ty – There could be two possible meanings to your dream. For instance when you think about a friend or a person you know, you are only taking in your thoughts, impressions and feelings about them. So many people do not realise that they have an inner person equally as powerful as the external person you know. You have taken in millions of bits of memory, lessons learnt, life experiences along with all the feelings or problems met by meeting or living with them, and they change you and make you the person you are. The memories and experience we gather unconsciously change us and are not lost. It is part of you and is symbolised in dreams as a person or event. Such an inner person can appear in dreams because you still carry the memories or impressions of them, and so they influenced what you hold within you.

So, it could mean the feelings you have for your cousin are going to die – but as there is no death in dreams, it suggest that you will start to enter a new phase of life, like leaving teenage feelings and entering the next level. Being on a bridge with her suggests that you were both going through a change in the relationship.

The other meaning is it suggests that her death might occur. It has been proved that praying for her to avoid such works.

In my dream there was a fire in the distance on one side of the road and a erupting volcano on the other side, some of the lava shot out and burned me I felt the like I really got burned and woke up with this warm feeling on my arms. Any idea?

Several times I’ve dreamt about the world ending by lava it starts a long way off and devours the earth as it nears. Taking everyone with it. There are others trapped also usually family or vey close friends. I always wake before it takes me though. What does all this mean?

    Tony

Alan – You are confusing your everyday life with your inner dream life, for whenever we dream its images are not like real life, because a dream is nothing like outer life where things could hurt you, but is an image like on a cinema screen, so that even if a gun is pointed at you and fired it can do no damage – except if you run in fear; so, all the things that scare you are simply your own fears projected onto the screen of your sleeping mind.

You have died several times already in this life, but you are still avoiding death. Death is something we all experience but usually fail to understand. Each of us are immersed in a ‘river’ of constant change. If you think about it you have been carried, pushed, impelled by this current as you were moved through babyhood, childhood, teenage and adulthood. And as we passed through these changes we died to our old self in order to change to the new. It is the current if Life. This current then carries us on through old and through gates of death. All the time we are faced by decisions, and each decision directs us on a different path, helping to create our future. And this force of growth and change. and is fought like hell by many as we are afraid of such changes, especially getting old and facing death.

End of the world dreams are a sign of great personal change being offered you, and the lava is a symbol of the enormous power of your core self. But you escaped into waking up. Being brave brings enormous advantages. See http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/opening-to-life/

-Natasha 2017-06-04 12:34:09

I just had a dream this morning that my significant other and son died. We were on some vacation and from afar we saw a beautiful sunset and was watching dark clouds take over. As I was trying to take a picture of the dark clouds and little bit of the sunset I tried going up more on the trail to get a better angle. There was a dog in somewhat of a whole and it was mean, it didn’t let me cross over so I went back. There was a big explosion as we were watching some what of the little bright sunset disappear by the dark grey clouds , as soon as it disappeared there was a big explosion off into the ocean that made the ground shook. We quickly ran back the ground we were on shook, a big explosion from the ground shot up lava and the ocean waves came right at us. It was then my boyfriend tried jumping into the water with my son and I but jumped into the lava. I saw him burn with our son right infront of me. I scream no , babes I can’t do this without y’all. I quickly woke up from my dream. What does my dream mean ?

    -Tony Crisp 2017-06-06 9:47:02

Natasha – The dream is very significant. The beauty of a dream sunset is about the end of a period in your life – a form of death, but death in dreams is always followed by a new beginning, so is about great changes in your life. The explosion is also about dramatic change. But a dream is something that comes from a deep part of you; it is something that is working upwards toward being conscious. As such it often, like a seed, takes time to break through to the surface, and then it has to grow. So, often dreams are not recognised for their full meaning until later – sometimes months or even longer.

You son and ‘other’ does not usually relate to actual people – for when you think about a friend or a person you meet, you are only taking in your thoughts, impressions and feelings about them. So many people do not realise that they have an inner person equally as powerful as the external person you know. You have taken in millions of bits of memory, lessons learnt, life experiences along with all the feelings or problems met by meeting or living with them, and they are what make you the person you are. The memories and experience we gather unconsciously change us and are not lost. It is part of you and is symbolised in dreams as a person or event. Such an inner person can appear in dreams because you still carry the memories or impressions of them, and so they influenced what you hold within you.

I know the dream images like falling into the lava may seem awful, but the lava represents the very central or core part of you, as it is with the earth. At night when you sleep, we return to our core self, and that brings healing and restoration. As we withdraw from awareness of our dense physical and we enter the transcendent experience of our core, the worn out cells, the tiredness we feel, which is the result of experiencing our body and the world, is healed. So, sleep and the return to our core, and the action of the core on our waking consciousness through dreams, is vital.

A dream is nothing like outer life where things could hurt you, but is an image like on a cinema screen, so that even if a gun is pointed at you and fired it can do no damage – except if you run in fear; so, all the things that scare you are simply your own fears projected onto the screen of your sleeping mind. Here is a man who realises that –

“I can remember being dressed as a heroic warrior running through crowds of people or soldiers who were trying to stop me. I pushed or knocked them aside and ran toward what was a huge caldera. It was hugely deep, and in its depths was a massive glow from what was volcanic lava. But I knew that this was the core of oneself, so I ran and leapt into the void falling into what I knew or felt sure was the light at the core of my being.”

So, your dream, although scary, is about a great change occurring in you, one leading to a more satisfying life. The two that were taken by the lava were aspects of yourself that are moving to wholeness. See http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/opening-to-life/

I couldn’t find my parked car. A stranger was walking the streets with me trying to help me find it. We walked up to the top of a hill looking for my car and came upon a hole in the ground filled with lava. The hole had red clay tiles around the edges (almost like a tile deck surrounding a hot tub full of lava). When we realized it was lava we turned and ran down the hill. The lava was slowly flowing down the hill. It didn’t touch me but touched the shoes of the stranger helping me to find my car.

At the bottom of the hill there was an outdoor clothes market. I wanted to buy the stranger clothing for helping me and noticed I dropped my purse/keys as we were running from the lava. I couldn’t find my car, had lost my keys, money, ID and purse. It was getting dark. I was trying to buy this man clothes – had two shirts in my hand and ducks started walking through the market, biting the shirts I was holding.

Hi – I am stopping from answering your posts fully – but will try to give hints; sometimes long ones because I quote from masses I have already put online. Also, I need to take time to update the site – dreamhawk.

It would help you to understand your dreams, if you would read – http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/questions-2/#Summing and also http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/features-found-on-site/ which has so much information in.

    Tony

The stranger is probably an aspect of yourself that is more daring and wanting answers to life’s questions. See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/autonomous-complex/

In fact you found what you were looking for but run because you were afraid. The dream lava is completely different from physical lava – for it is coming from your core self – and whenever we dream its images are not like real life, because a dream is nothing like outer life where things could hurt you, but is an image like on a cinema screen, so that even if a gun is pointed at you and fired it can do no damage – except if you run in fear; so, all the things that scare you are simply your own fears projected onto the screen of your sleeping mind.

Your conscious personality is only a tiny part pf you, and only has experiences and memories connected with your physical brain, but your core self is much older, just as a seed planted grows a very new plant, but it has behind the growth millions of years of experience. So in meeting the lava you came near to becoming conscious of your hue self. We feel that it will swallow us and we will die. It is important to say that when we meet the experience of powerlessness through becoming aware of the hugeness of your Life, which we are usually unaware if, it feels like something alien or attacking, it is a shock. When we begin to meet the Hugeness that we are, we often react to it in our dreams or in waking with fear or panic. So we dream of being attacked by aliens or frightening creatures; or being swallowed by a whale or something huge, or even possessed by evil entities. If we realise that they are things we have created through our own fear we will pass on. But otherwise it will continue to haunt us as something that will get you; or you feel uncertain even lost in facing it! But it is only our small self image, our ego that reacts because it feels powerless, even though in reality the Hugeness is part of our totality. It is the enormous potential you have within you, it is Life you are frightened of or have been ignoring.

I stumbled upon this site as I saw a dream related to lava and am hoping that you can perhaps interpret my dream. I was waiting in line at a grocery store with my cousin and I remember him having a smirk on his face as I was talking to this girl. We then walked outside only find that there was lava pouring down the streets and sidewalks. I remember him stepping into the lava and feeling the pain, however, I seemed to be more immune to the pain and careful as to where I was stepping. Being that we couldn’t walk home, I was trying to catch a taxi, but they all appeared to be full with people. The dream kind of faded there and we all of the sudden appeared at a safer place. A thing to note is that this cousin I was with is the closest I am to.

I had a dream that I was at the beach wth friends and family, we were on the way home and on the freeway I noticed a big volcano erupting, the lava got closer and it popped out cars tires. I got out quickly with my stuff as the lava got closer and jumped to the other side of the freeway. I recently lost my boyfriend on 2/7/17, could this be him sending me a spiritual message using lava?

For a while now I’ve been in a bad place problem after problem and never seem to get out. I begged God to let me die for a couple of days & then I had a dream. I was in a house and I wanted to go out and the father of my children (which has been hurting me for 13 yrs -not physically though) was driving and we ended up in a cabin on the top of a mountain, somehow we had sex (go figure) and all of a sudden one of my kids appeared in a bucket full of water, he seemed lifeless but he was alive and then there was this strong smell and I immediately said its acid rain and we ran out to the car to try to leave. The father of my children was replaced with my mother and the dirt road was full of people running for their lives and she stopped the car and was trying to think what way to go & we asked someone but it was too late, we had missed out chance to get to the other side of the mountain. All of a sudden we see this huge river of lava flowing down everywhere, we were cornered. my mom went to the back seat and we hugged each, knew we would die so we closed our eyes and we died. I wasn’t scared. I felt peaceful.
I don’t know what this meant, never had a dream like this before.

Hello, I had a dream that me and some fellow high school classmates were all standing on an edge of a cliff inside a cave and at the bottom was a pool of bright lava. We were in 3 rows. The person standing in front of me lost her sister a year ago and behind me her brother in law from the same sister who passed. We were all holding hands and then I told her she’s going to go and meet her sister now. We all jumped in and as we went deeper down I felt my inside, particularity my heart getting hotter and hotter. Then I passed on and that’s when I woke up.

Hi – I am going to halt from answering your posts – the reason is that in so many of your post I give the same information to. That is because most posts do not realise the difference between dreaming and waking life. It makes a great difference.

So, most of what I put in answers is my attempt at explaining what dreams are really about. It would help you to understand your dreams, if you would read – http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/questions-2/#Summing it would help me, and hopefully you too.

I had dream that Inwas surrounded by a dessert looking landscape, filled with other people standing and looking towards the horizon where the sea was visible too. Within a second I felt my body take over and I thought I was fainting, but then I started to descend to the ground slowly. I could hear my partner freak out while this was happening and I could still everything but my body didn’t let me take control. My feeling at this time was scared, then I felt as though some sort of presence had swept through ny body while my body was still descending to the ground. As soon as it touched the ground, my body then ascended back to the standing position and I started to cry, for the fact I couldn’t control what just happened. Soon after that scenario I found myself being surrounded in the same scenery but this time I was alone and the water started bolingbupnto the point that it was slowly turning to lava when it hits the shoreline. At this point I was terrified and started panicking, then noticed the area was closing upnon me like I was about to get squashed. Then I saw my partner from a far distance through a door like scape and called out his name “James!!!!” , kept calling him until he heard me and he did. I watched him swim through the water which was hot and he was able to swim without being affected and quickly swam through the lava on the shoreline and looked at me as though he would do ANYTHING for me. I started crying at this point terrified that he was burnt badly but he grabbed me and put me into what just apoeared a cage like floating on the water taking us to safety (we were standing in the cage). Can you please tell me what this means, I’ve never experienced anything like this…

Thanks for any help given in advance,
Yours Vivid dreamer…

Honestly – you confronted the most important parts of your nature, the desert, meaning your life was sterile, the sea, your huge self that you were unaware of, the lava, the very powerful core of yourself. But you were scared and called for a male aspect of you to ‘save’ you – so you avoided the best parts through fear. Reading the Questions will explain much. The movement you could not control – During REM sleep while we are dreaming our voluntary muscles are paralyzed – except for our eyes. It is thought this was developed during a period when our forebears were sleeping in trees. Any movement would have made them fall. The eye movements were of course not dangerous.

An important fact about dreaming is that all the signals for movement while we dream are sent by the sleeping brain to the muscles but are blocked by a part of the brain called the pons.

But when this spontaneous movement breaks through to consciousness many people are frightened of it and rush to the doctor to sedate it. See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/sleep-paralysis/ – See alsohttp://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/lifes-little-secrets/

In life and sleep we have two powerful actions working in us. The first is our waking experience based on having a body, its limitations, vulnerabilities and a particular gender. Our second is the power that gave us life and continues to express as dreams, in our breathing and heartbeat – our life. This I have given the description as the Life Will.

While we sleep our conscious self is largely or totally unconscious, and while we dream our voluntary muscles are paralysed – therefore another will or motivating force moves our body. So we have a Conscious Will, and what I will call a Life Will. The first one we have experience of as we can move our arm or speak in everyday activities; but the second will takes over when we sleep. See Sleep Paralysis

This Life will can move us to speak, to move our body, and in fact do things that we cannot do with our Conscious Will. As Freud pointed out this inner will has full access to our memories. It can do so many other things that are described else where – See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/archetype-of-the-animus-jungs-view-of-the-male-in-the-female/

I had a dream that I had just woke up, I looked out my window and there was a river of lava right outside. I freaked out, but my family ran towards it, and jumped in it. Then I falsely woke up again. This time the lava wasn’t here yet, but it was starting down the mountain. I warned my family, but they thought I was crazy, so I go and cried in a corner. Then I woke again, the lava was going my way. The dogs ran away and I yelled there names but nothing came out of my mouth. Every one else in the dream could talk, but I couldn’t. I cried and cried worried I was going to die, then I truly woke up with my heart racing. Any ideas?

In my dream i was wanting to run away because i knew the volcano in the town i was living / staying in was about to errupt but instead i went towards it and found myself in a house that had a woman and her 2 children. Her son was maybe 5 years old and her daughter maybe 14 years old. Also a man was present who was of no connection. The boy was in his room while the rest of us were in the lounge watching t.v. i looked up through the window and watched the lava rolling down the hill and straight through the lounge window. The lava poured over us and i could feel myself burning alive. I did not scream. The lava over our bodies subsided. without a mark on me, I then got up and checked on the boy who was playing happily in his room oblivious to what was going on. I returned to the couch next to the man on the couch and watched he lava flow pass the house burning everything in its path. I think i was the teenage girl. I woke remembering the feeling of being burned alive and that i was scared but not.

In my dream the world got covered in lava but I got on an aeroplane so I was saved. The lava got higher and higher and was inches away fromm the belly of the plane. The floor of the plane was too hot to walk on. I remember worrying that if the lava didn’t recede how were we gonna keep flying. When was the plane gonna run out of fuel.

-Amina Salman 2016-10-09 5:50:05

I saw a dream that I was walking outside and was little bit away from my house like just 5 minutes of walking distance.. I saw that there is something very hot and red and black smoke was everywhere but it was away from me, like 1 km away.. then I came back to my home and I was talking with my family and suddenly I saw that lava came inside our house under the entrance door…
What does it mean ??

    -Amina Salman 2016-10-10 10:53:41

Tony Crisp please tell me the interpretation of my dream…..

      -Tony Crisp 2016-10-10 12:38:02

Amina – To understanding your dream, you need to realise that the images in our dreams are just emotions, thoughts, fears. traumas, ideas and feelings projecting out of you and appearing as images, people or scenes outside you on the screen of your mind.

So, whenever we dream its images are not like real life, because a dream is nothing like outer life where things could hurt you, but is an image like on a cinema screen, so that even if a gun is pointed at you and fired it can do no damage – except if you run in fear; so all the things that scare you are simply your own fears projected onto the screen of your sleeping mind.
In describing your dream, you didn’t say what you felt when you saw the lava coming into your house. But in general it shows a great change entering you/your house. But because either people feel dreams are the same as everyday life – which they are not – or else are scared of meeting changes, they feel afraid.

Of course it might destroy your dream house, but you have been through such great change several times before when the person you were went through massive change – from childhood to teenage – from teenage to a young adult, and so on through your life’s journey.

      Tony

-Jade-Marie 2016-10-05 5:30:11

In my dream there was a large fire in the distance (exploding buildings, etc) and it was moving closer so my family and I had to pack up our things and leave our house. I was very panicked but the rest of my family seemed calm. We couldn’t go to certain areas of the house as lava was there and when we were trying to pack our things (we had a ridiculous amount of animals – gerbals, cats, dogs, etc.) To pack and they kept trying to run away and escape which made me panic more, eventually my dad got tired of waiting and reversed the car which crushed two dogs heads and killed them, my family all laugh at this but I’m horrified and begin screaming at them angrily but cannot scream loud enough. Would really like an interpretation of this…

    -Tony Crisp 2016-10-05 11:00:25

Jade – You have to realise that things like fire and animals in dreams are dealt with very differently. Fire in dreams cannot hurt you, but represents a transforming process, the fire of your life, that keeps your body warm. In dreams its images are not like real life, because a dream is nothing like outer life where things could hurt you, but is an image like on a cinema screen that even if a gun is pointed at you and fired it can do no damage – except if you run in fear; so all the things that scare you are simply your own fears projected onto the screen of your sleeping mind.

The exploding fire is about a massive change and personal growth that is explosively entering your life. It is getting nearer because you are becoming more aware of it. But you panic because you are so used to feeling dreams are the same as waking life, so try to run away.

The animals – you are lucky to have so many – are you natural and even instinctive drives – see http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/brain-levels-and-dreams/

These are part of your panic reaction because you haven’t previously acknowledged them as part of you so haven’t integrated and ‘tamed’ them, so the run wild as your emotional reactions. See http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/questions-2/#Victim

Obviously your family influence about killing out any ‘natural’ in you, often shown by teaching you to curb you anger and repression difficult feelings. That approach does not work because what you are repressing or killing are important parts of you – killing them murders your wholeness. See http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/opening-to-life/
