Rails Railway Train Station

Opportunity or choices in life; your life direction if on train – or the direction the events in life are taking you, perhaps your direction of growth. Sometimes the train refers to the direction or events you are involved in with others, a train of events’ in fact.

Carriages: A particular compartments or facet of your life. The situation or environment you are in at the moment – perhaps with particular people.

Leaving someone behind or being left behind: Feelings about loss of spouse; or break-up of relationship; being left; change of some sort; watching someone take a direction or get involved in things that mean parting.

Lines or tracks: The rails themselves represent orthodoxy, the accepted way of going about things, moral values or a direction that is hard to change, and perhaps shared with others. Thus one can say someone has gone off the rails. A communal or generally accepted direction; habitual pathways of thought or action; rigidly fixed to certain attitudes or way of life; inflexibility.

Missing the train: feeling left out of opportunity; sense of inadequacy; held back by one’s own hesitations; hidden desire to avoid change or to make one’s individual journey; not connecting with an opportunity or events.

Railroad crossing: A need for awareness and observation in case of danger. Possible block to progress. Conflict between your personal direction — the car – and the prescribed direction of the train.

Railway station: Moving toward something new; making a choice or having a choice of directions – directions that may need decision, planning and or choice; changing scenes – i.e. from family to work environment; leaving something behind – a relationship, one’s youth; one’s ability to change; effort to get somewhere in life or experience something new; parting or meeting, saying farewell or waiting for someone; changes in a relationship or work. The station can also depict the ‘station’ you have reached, or are moving toward in life. So it might therefore be a situation you are in or trying to reach.

Sometimes ‘station’ in your dream can mean your life state or station. So it is your present life situation. The station you try to reach is the place or situation you will arrive at when you bring your desires and actions under direction.

The train journey: The aspect of our journey through life that has connections with other people and has a predetermined end unless you change trains. It is therefore limiting your individual will, and passing through certain stages. It may show a journey into self-awareness. And because you are being pulled along by a power other than your own efforts, it can refer to ageing and death – especially where there is a feeling of ‘departing’ or ‘time of departure’; the train of thought or experiences that carry us through life. But it refers in general to your movement through life as time passes.

The journey might be one you remember making in the past, or meeting someone from a previous journey. These can both refer to influences in your present life from prior to your birth.

Ticket: See ticket

Train engine: The energy that takes us through life; libido.

Example: I lived in a village/town at the foot of a huge mountain. I felt desperate and that I had to do something – I must climb the mountains straight away. I ran away from home, family, to straightaway start to climb the mountain. The beginning of the journey was on a train. Although it had been night and raining, now it was light and blue sky. As the train slowly climbed the mountain, I looked out on the scenery behind us. There were strange rock formations, mountain valleys, lovely vistas, so beautiful I wept openly at the beauty. Others in the carriage noticed how moved I was.

Idioms: Go off the rails; lose track of something; make tracks for; on somebody’s track. See: airport; ticket.

If I was on a train, where was I going?

I had a dream last night that my 6 year old son, 4 year old daughter, and i were coming back from eating lunch. We had to take a train that was previsely on time and didnt wait for anyone under any circumstance.my daughter had slipped out the window at a stop while i was distracted by my son. I tried to pull her back in but knew it would cause her more harm than leaving her. So i left my wallet by her for the next train to see where she lived. We got off on the next stop and waited for the next train, but as the next train came it was full of forgotten children and did not stop. I ran along the train beggimg to give me my daughter, crying, and he refused to do so or to tell me how to get her back. I woke up and felt my heart just as broken as in my dream.

Hello I’m 21 and every time I experience a vivid dream I try to remember as much as I can and write it down. Recently I’ve become quite detailed when I do write about my dream situations. It was this morning I woke up and found out the meaning of a train and the symbolism behind it.

{I was at a cricket or football match, in a huge procinuim stadium. There were many students from all over the country and the match was between England and another country I can’t remember.

After the game was over we went to the local train station with two students that I didn’t know too well and we were lingering around the station before the big crowds of students came. We all had suitcases also.

I showed them my blue Ford Focus car that was with me at the train station and we all jumped in and I somehow got it onto the railway tracks and followed the tracks and drove straight down.

After this the huge crowds of student headed to the train station and I wanted to find the right train going direct to Reading (my hometown) . I got out of my blue car which then converted into a packed away bag I could take with me after worrying about what I do with the car.

After that I managed to find the train going to Reading but as soon as I got there I didn’t have my luggage with me. I then started panicking and hysterically crying trying to find a black suitcase in the huge crowds that kept on coming .
A few people tried to help me and I recognised a girl from high school and she took me to lost and found bags. There was high security here and I waited in line to try and find my bag. }

I don’t think I did manage to find my suitcase and I was figuring out what to do next as I was left only with my tears and a packed away car at the train station.

Hi – I am going to halt from answering your posts – the reason is that in so many of your post I give the same information to. This is because most people do not understand the difference between dreaming and waking life.

So, most of what I put in answers is my attempt at explain what dreams are really about. It would help you to understand your dreams, if you would read – http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/questions-2/#Summing

Hi – I must take time to upgrade the dream dictionary, so must halt from answering your posts – I started revising the dictionary in 2006, and haven’t neared the end yet. I believe someone else may start giving interpretations.

So, for a while I urge you to read http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/i-am-no-longer-interpreting-dreams/ – It describes ways that can help you. And often it would help too if you looked at http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/questions-2/#Summing

Barriers – The fence or barrier often depicts our fear, which is an enormous barrier to progress in our life, also our sense of social barriers, class barriers, or the attitudes we use to segregate the sexes, races or classes in work, opportunity or relationship. It can represent the need for privacy; territorial feelings; the social rules we use to give each other respect, or the de-fences we erect to ward off what we fear as danger of hurt. I had a dream last night with lots of different things going on but at one stage in my dream I’m chasing my kids 3 of them where they lead me to a train platform, when I’m there the kids are gone and there is no one else there just me. The number 3 keeps coming up in this hole dream and at the train platform the train is stationary with 3 carts on it and there are 3 pillars on the platform. I’ve looked up what I can but it’s not explaining to much can someone help.

The children leading you is about your younger more adventurous and even vulnerable side showing you something you would not have realised otherwise. Your children indicate something in you.

When you think about a friend or a child, you are only taking in your thoughts, impressions and feelings about them. So many people do not realise that they have an inner person equally as powerful as the external person you know. You have taken in millions of bits of memory, lessons learnt, life experiences along with all the feelings or problems met by meeting or living with them, and they are what makes you the person you are.  The memories and experience we gather unconsciously change us and are not lost. It is part of you and is symbolised in dreams as a person or event. Such an inner person can appear in dreams because you still carry the memories or impressions of them, and so they influenced what you hold within you.

Number three can be seen as something coming to birth that has initial hindrances which are only temporary. Remember that what is being dealt with is still in its early stages and vulnerable. So care for the situation until it strengthens. This may take some diplomacy or carefulness because of heightened feelings. The key words are – Initial difficulty overcome by patient perseverance.

Hi Tony/Anna,

I saw that you had some really thoughtful responses so I was hoping that you could maybe help me with interpreting my dream.
It’s very rare that I have disturbing dreams but tonight’s was a little bit so.
I was on a train journey on which I had to take some stops & transfer onto different trains. It seems like I knew were I was going, so it was a trip that I was used to making.
I was sitting there when all of a sudden, I see a pack of boys chasing the train. The train gains momentum & they’re less and less able to keep up. They’re in a silly & horsing around mood, but I’m rather worried because they are dangerously close to the train. The train is moving through an open field and it’s quite dark. I hope we just pass them fast enough & that’ll be the end of it, but then it happens: one of the boys who was going very fast takes a nosedive – o my god, hoping everything’s ok- A woman screams, there’s blood on her forehead.
From thereon, the dream becomes less coherent. At one point, I’m in the same train, a little while later and a man talks to me about what has just happened. I’m still shocked but he then proceeds to ask me out, which I find off-putting (& has the opposite effect of giving comfort) given the distressing situation and it’s the last thing on my mind. I’m thinking about maybe stopping in a certain city to stay with friends but it’s late & I’m not sure. If I go back to the city where I live it’ll be late & there might not be transportation for the last part of my journey. Normally I’m fine walking that part (also at night) but since I’m shaken up & spooked out, I’d rather not.
Next bit I’m in a room full of people dancing. I’m next to a couple eyeing me when I hear the girl say “her nose is too long”. Upon hearing that I get in their faces & say “yeah my nose is long, but that’s a really bitchy thing to say. How about your face, Eva?” (This is a high school girl I recently came across, with whom I had no bad relations whatsoever in real life). An older scruffy man joins me & says how we all have imperfections, we don’t have to focus or put our judgemental attention to it.
I think about the train journey & how a train would normally probably stop after such an accident & I question whether we didn’t stop in actuality. Maybe the shock messed with my memory. I am on the train again, observing, there are empty seats where the couple sat of which the woman had screamed. There’s a part somewhere in the dream now where they get weirdly aroused by the situation and I just want to not be there.
It feels like I got home but I can’t remember as I woke up shortly after.
So that’s what I got. As well as macabre, it seems like it has to do with my relationships with men perhaps? There are currently some men that are wanting to see me, but I’m not too keen or too sure about them. I’m currently more about working on myself, on creating space in my life for me to grow. I’ve had a bit of a tumultuous time lately in terms of my health & mental/emotional health, but I feel a bit more joy and hope now that I have shifted my attention to doing what I love instead of reacting to the world that comes to me. It’s a balancing act of course but I feel like for now it helps to limit contact with certain family members & mostly stay off social media for the time being. I used to get sick all the time & I’m still researching this (now with a more proactive doctor) & during that time I felt very isolated & in need of good loving company. I feel less in need now, although I am making arrangements to meet more people.
If you have the time to read & reply I’d be very happy with that.
Thank you for the information you have provided.

I dreamt that I was traveling on a train and suddenly the train passed through a residential area where I saw a house burning down and soon I saw the fire spreading to all the houses. The fire didn’t reach the train but I and everyone on the train were scared and worried about those people, though nobody offered any help as no one was in the position to do so. After crossing that part the train passed through some sort of a weird track where trees were planted too close and we got hit by the trees. After this I thankfully woke up. It was a disturbing dream.

Hey.. I dreamt that im reading a book at a station, and then I see people coming over to a book shop and asking for poker cards. Hearing that I start rushing towards my train which is already lraving but I am able to catch it. The next inage is night and when I look out the window I see three people where teo are figthing and one is telling the other to hit the third person in his head. The next moment the person starts his bike and starts chasing my train, and I just hide in the corner of the train, hooing to not be spotted. They dont catch me, and I get up. Also while I was at the train station I rememeber seeing other people I know or looking familiar at the very station. What does all this mran buddy ??

    -Tony Crisp 2016-10-19 9:42:21

Shashwat – Dreams tend to be an action mirror of what you feel within you. And your dream describe a very active or even overactive thought and emotional life. What are you hiding from inside you?

The train is the journey you are on in relationship with others, but it doesn’t give you much opportunity to go your own direction.

Maybe it would be good to use http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/secrets-power-dreaming/

I had a dream recently about being in a subway station, totally empty with a song echoing in the background, bouncing off the tiled walls. I remember the train car being very bright and clean. I stepped into the very first car, near the operators booth. When I turned around, I saw one of my crushes forom school. She sat in the very back if the car, the same car I was in. She smiled but made no eye contact. It was as if she was smiling at someone or something, but we were the only two there. I gazed at her as the music played and the train rolled on.

-Eve 2016-10-03 5:37:22

I dreamt off a train that was going in the opposite direction as me. The train had 2-3 engines, one of them was a gold and gold old style steam train engine. The train was light blue except for the white engine. I had to wait for the train to go past before I could cross the tracks

-Kay 2016-09-20 10:00:49

I dreamt I was at a train station & I was trying to work out my journey, looking at my notes, but I was getting all confused. The train was coming in 2mins but I wasn’t sure if it was the right train. I panicked & tried working out my journey again while getting up to get on the train. The conductor told me to wait. He said work out where you’re going first. I was resistant, “but the train is coming”. He said there will be another train. I feel like I am being told to slow down & it is ok to just rest at the moment & deal with my emotions & get everything straight in my head. I have been through 5 bereavements in 3yrs having recently lost my dad & a much loved pet. I have M.E. but have been doing too much socialising to take my mind off things, however my body is suffering & I have now crashed. I believe I do need to slow down. Maybe it’s ok to not move forward right now, just deal with the present, all the thoughts & emotions & confusion.

    -Tony Crisp 2016-09-21 12:25:31

Kay – I think your idea of what you face is correct. Your dream says that you need to clearly have a goal in mind – perhaps it should be to become healthy in mind and body. There is also tension about sorting something out in time.

I can only offer things I know have worked to slow you down and clear the emotional things disrupting your life. There are things that need personal effort and are quite different in their effect than a doctor’s prescription.

Thank you Tony, that’s really helpful. Yes it makes sense what you say: I have felt the time constraints of having to sort my grandparents house out before we get hit with inheritance tax next month. Also, as I am getting some inheritance money I have felt rushed to find a place to buy (log cabin & land is the plan) before my rental contract is up in January, especially as we’re struggling with the rent every month-however deep down I know we need to take the time to make sure the place we move to is right for us & not rush into it. There has also been the opportunity of some land for sale which is probably a bit too far for us but I have worried we’ll lose out if we don’t take it. However, as the conductor in the dream says ‘there will be another train’, there will be more opportunities I’m sure. Thanks so much for the links-I will check them out. I’ve been meaning to get bac into meditation & mindfulness etc.
