Womb Uterus

Childbirth, pregnancy, the female receptiveness and ability to nurture life.

This can be about a woman’s relationship with the urges and emotions she feels in connection with having a womb – i.e. the reproductive drive, the unconscious desire for a child or more children, and the possible neglect of those feelings and longings. It can also depict fears of illness and pregnancy. As with uterus, for many women the womb represents their sense of being a full woman and their adequacy, just as testes do for men. Of course it also links with the ability to have children, so could represent fears or feelings about this. If you dream of problems in regard to the womb, it is always worth having a physical check.

In a more general sense, the womb depicts the state of existence or consciousness in which we have grown prior to birth or speech; the state or condition prior to your development of personality – this can be personal, but it also relates to all human creatures, so is historical or evolutionary. It is a condition without ego, with a sense of being life itself, perhaps even a sense of being an integral being; that is one’s being is caused by an organising force which integrates your body. It often holds in it fears connected with birth and or sex.  So much of our foundations of experience are connected with our experience of prenatal life and birth that we may need to touch these experiences to heal or free parts of our nature for further growth. See: Uterus; Ovaries; Vagina; Birth.

Many dreams suggest the period of our life in the womb. They are dreams about being trapped in a tunnel or tight place; being tortured by demons or devils; and some dreams about tiny babies. These indicate some level of regression to the ‘womb’ state of awareness – therefore perhaps a time of not being able to meet the stress of having a personality with self awareness – a time of gaining respite and perhaps touching your roots of being in order to gain new strength.

Going back to the womb or to the condition of withdrawal or autism: Regression to the ‘womb’ state of awareness – therefore perhaps a time of not being able to meet the stress of having a personality with self awareness – a time of gaining respite and perhaps touching one’s roots of being in order to gain new strength.

Useful Questions and Hints:

Do I feel this represent my ability to be receptive and creative?

If I am a woman, does this have anything to do with how I feel about bearing a child, or perhaps how feminine or sexually attractive I feel?

Have I ever felt te wonderful peace like being in the womb?

I had a dream during an afternoon nap that I was on a green field, someone walked past who offended me and my life, so I defended it by telling them about my personal achievements that make me great. Then I lay down on this green lawn and suddenly realised that I am dreaming and I am inside my mind then I thought very quickly of what to think of because I realised I could possibly have a nightmare within it, so I thought of being in water. I closed my eyes and I was inside water, thinking of nothing, but just listening to the sound of water which was slightly uncomfortable, but very refreshing and relaxing because the tiiiiiny discomfort kept me focused and controlling my mind. Then someone knocked on my door and I had to wake up, so I did.

what could that experience mean for me?

Hi – The answers I give arise not out of me thinking up things to say, but from fifty years of exploring dreams in depth. So some of what I write may seem wild. This may be because dreams arise and are experienced by a level of your mind or awareness that very few people have any concept or experience of – usually called the unconscious. Life dreamt in its creatures millions of years before even humankind awoke and developed self awareness or language. So to understand dreams we need to leave our thinking minds behind and go into our feelings and reactions – a much older level of awareness.

But it would help you to understand your dreams, if you would read – http://dreamhawk.com/news/summing-up/ and also http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/features-found-on-site/ which has so much information in.
Nothing can replace your own ability to understand your dream. With a little effort you can do this by practising what is described in – http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPersonor http://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/getting-at-your-dreams-meaning/

Anonymous – You appear to be in the process of waking up to what dreams are and what their possibilities are. But you have only taken small steps and need more understanding.

“I realised I could possibly have a nightmare.” That was a misconception based on waking fears, for whenever we dream its images are not like real life, because a dream is nothing like outer life where things could hurt you, but is an image like on a cinema screen that even if a gun is pointed at you and fired it can do no damage – except if you run in fear. For all the things that scare you are simply your own fears projected onto the screen of your sleeping mind.

A little Kuwaiti boy survived the Iraqi invasion of his country and was living without his father, a prisoner of war. But a recurring nightmare, of Saddam Hussein stabbing his brother to death, was prolonging the trauma.

One night he had a different dream: This time he carried the knife, becoming a hero who kills his nemesis. The emotional weight he carried disappeared. Altering recurring nightmares may hold a key to recovery for many victims of trauma, says Dr. Deidre Barrett, a professor of behavioral medicine and hypnotherapy at Harvard Medical School. Barrett spent a month in Kuwait City after the Gulf War training other therapists to treat post-traumatic stress disorder. She says, “Just changing something in the dream gives people such a sense of mastery in controlling things.” See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/masters-of-nightmares/http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/secrets-power-dreaming/

Because you were slightly aware it enabled you to change your dream to a non threatening situation. But because all the people, animals, places you see in your dreams, are simply your own feelings, fears, hopes and wonder projected onto the screen of your sleeping mind as images, it was silly to avoid facing your own fears, because facing them would transform your life.

Also controlling your mind is a sign that you are frightened of your own self. Perhaps see http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/lifes-little-secrets/http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/integration-meeting-oneself/

I had a dream that someone commented I was pregnant because they could see it, but I looked at my stomach and there is no bulge. I then massaged the side and a baby moved and towards the centre of my womb. I could see my baby boy through my skin, he was facing up and moving his hands and legs. It was a warm feeling.
What could this dream mean? It is the first time having this dream.

Just had a really disturbing dream. I am driving a white car when suddenly there is a white fog covering everything with strong winds making everyone panic and confused. Perphaps there is a party of the dream I don’t recall but the next thing I remember is walking on a street with my mother, brother and sister. We decide it’s better to drive home where we will be safe. We go back to my car and my sister is driving, mother in the passenger seat and my brother and I at the back. I am sat behind my sister and get agitated as she is driving really slowly. We are at a traffic light and when the lights change I tell my sister to drive to the far right lane but she doesn’t so I take the wheel and direct it right. In doing so she does not have time to slow down and we end up crashing into two car ahead of us that are stopped at a red light. I start crying worried that my sister will get points on her license because of me. I get out of the car crying and go towards the first car. There is a lady who is angry to whom I apologise. There are children with her in the car. I go to the next car and apologise to the man in the car who also had children with him. He tells me the members of the first car are his relatives. He tells me his daughter who is not in the cars had her baby ripped out of her by her boyfriend. I continue to cry and apologise to have to deal with this accident on top of all this. He is really calm and asks how I’m doing. The man changes into somebody I know. My cousin sisters husband – someone that I am not close to at all. I tell him I’m worried that my sister will get points on her license because of this and if there’s any way around this. He explains something to me which I don’t remember as he walks me back to the car. This is when I wake up with a severe headache as if I had been crying in real life too big otherwise calm and no racing heart which sometimes happens. Any ideas what this could mean? Please help.

I have had some interesting dreams over this past week!
First, I dreamt that I was going to buy fish and the one on display that I picked had big lips and a Hamburger Helper hand (Yes, the big white hand)!
Next, last night I dreamt that my cousin was far along in pregnancy. I went to visit her and she was able to contort her elastic looking womb with her hand and actually hold the baby. I could even see the imprint of the baby! I know these are both outrageous, weird and maybe humorous. But, I can’t ignore them…

I had a dream my uterus fell out whole. I took it to the ER and as I laid there wondering what was going on feeling perfectly fine, my dream ended.

It isn’t really a dream, more like a daydream, when I went to my grandparents’ house to stay for 2 days, this image started to appear constantly, I was an image of a mature me, naked on fetal position, I think I was on a womb, very thing was a deep, dark purple, with some Liliac highlights, including me, I also had my umbilical cord and my heart was shining red, my heart beats were slow and sound was extremely calming, my hair was on a French braid, it gave me a peaceful, calm and safe feeling, it also made me feel like I was one with nature again.

I am in waking life most of the time have mild anxiety problem could this be related to this matter? Thanks

Dear Elisabeth – I think it will be helpful to read the article about recurring dreams too; http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/recurring-dreams/
The way I see your dream is that it is a dream about birth.
The birth can be about your own physical birth, its difficulties and trauma. But most difficult birth dreams are about coming to terms with your existence. Many of us are still wondering whether we wanted to be, or want to be, born. ‘To be or not to be’, that is still the question for many of us. Lots of us live at a remove from life because of this. If there are connections with our own birth, any negative feelings, fears and pain may need to be met before one can continue real development and growth in life. This is not an easy process as birth experience is deeply primal and existing at the very foundations of our identity. Even if one manages to let this material rise into consciousness in the form of present day fears – such as loneliness, feelings of vulnerability etc. – it usually takes a long time to move through them. I had a dream that I was pregnant and laying on my side when I could feel my baby moving and I went to touch my belly and I could tell it was the baby’s hand and I just laid there holding hands with my baby.
I do not have any children, but have been trying for 7 years.

I gave birth to a baby boy but it wasn’t soon enough so the doctor put him back in my womb and about a month later gave birth to a baby girl that was healthy as can be and could even talk a little bit. :/ what does this dream mean?

    -Anna 2015-03-15 19:23:54

Sara – Giving birth to a baby boy or a baby girl is different in this way that you give birth to different new parts of yourself.
    Please see http://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/baby/
Baby Boy: If you have given birth to a baby boy, it is usually about the principle of maleness entering your life. Maleness is like the sun, it expresses most of its energy outwardly to give life. Whereas the female is like the earth, receiving and nurturing life.

Birth or emergence of a new phase of self-expression in terms of activity or achievement. In a males dream may suggest a new self emerging, or new aspect of self.

Baby Girl: If you have given birth to a baby girl, it is usually about the principle of femininity. Femininity is about having the power of creating life within and nurturing its growth.
Obvious whatever the baby boy symbolizes, it was still too small and vulnerable to give birth to
and so the doctor put him back in your womb.
He will continue to grow there and will be born when he is ready for it.
The baby girl was well developed and growing fast for she could even talk a little bit.
    See also http://dreamhawk.com/pregnancy-childbirth/the-baby-in-your-dream/
It will be helpful to answer the questions at this page and from the answers you have given to the questions see if you can recognise what new thing has come into, or is emerging, in your life. What do you feel vulnerable about? Is it to do with someone you love? Is it a new attitude you have to the way you express yourself? Or perhaps it is a new project you have undertaken.

When you can connect the dream with your everyday experience, consider what the dream is depicting in its drama. Is it saying the baby is healthy and strong? Does your baby need support? Is it nourished? Whatever you have discovered from looking at your dream baby, try to use the insights in your everyday life. Build them into the way you feel and think, and watch your baby grow.
    Anna 🙂
