(Posts that have any adverts or links to other sites will be deleted).

This a non-profit site and it offers real dream interpretations – not dream dictionary features that are not real interpretations – and for which we ask no payment, but it would be a great help if you clicked on the Facebook and other links to like what we do.

An easy way to ask for an intrepretation is to write your dream in the Leave a Comment box at the top right of every feature page. To see any reply, go to the end of the page you put the comment on. I put a test on the page http://dreamhawk.com/poems/the-song/ I looks like the following -

I wrote this poem after a two days meditation course. It was an attempt to express what I experienced.

Just a test to see how one can see the replies.

Also, I am alone in working on your dreams, and it takes time so I cannot always keep up with the number of request you send. Also I am revising the dictionary – a long business – so please look at the dozens of replies at the very end of the ‘comment’ section, hopefully you will find something helpful. But here is a way to work out your own dream – Dreams Meaning. Also it is important to give a full account of your dream - see Give Us Enough Information.

Also the site has enormous resources – so you can search for so many things – everything from abortion, the house in your dream to sex and death – simply by putting the search words in the search box.

There is also the full list of encyclopedia features on this site, this is not a list of dream dictionary words - Features Found on Site

Also be aware that I offer a personal dream interpretation service. You can access this by putting a full explanation of your dream in the ‘Leave a Comment’ box at the top right of most dream dictionary pages. Or if you click on the Discussion Forum you can have a personal interpretation and see thousands of dreams already interpreted, completely different to the dream dictionary.

I know how much you might like to skip the introduction, and if you are tempted to do so, please, please read Summing Up. Without understanding the things given there you are likely to completely miss the point of understanding your dreams.

Your dreams can become vortexes of power to transform your life, and to enhance your perceptions. There is no ‘wave a magic wand’ route to this. It will not happen because you read a great book, or look at a good dream dictionary. Those things might help, but the real magic lies in whether you can enter into your dream in the right way. Try using Meaning of Your Dream

But you can start right here by entering a dream image and clicking the search symbol – or you can read some fuller information below about the dictionary and how best to use it. The easiest way to find something is to enter it in the box below or in the search box on each page.

What does my dream mean? – How to explore your dream meanings:

It is important in reading the definitions of dream images to realise that not every possible meaning can be covered. So please see if you get the idea of what is being said and allow your own imagination/feelings to fill in the meaning.

There are several ways you can understand the meanings held in your dreams, and there are several levels. The first is an easily understood level, followed by greater depths:

  1. You can enter a key word in the search box above. The Dream Dictionary contains interpretations on almost any type of dream subject. So if you dreamt of a flying saucer landing in a field, and aliens getting out and taking a baby,  a snake, and a pregnant dog back into the saucer, you could search separately for each of these subjects in the Dream Dictionary. Find the entry for flying saucer; then the entry for dog, baby,  snake,  pregnant, and so on. For each entry, find further related entries by looking under “Similar Articles” on the right hand side of the page. Then see Techniques for Exploring your Dreams

  2. Each entry gives the general meaning of the dream subject, just as an encyclopedia or dictionary does for a word. Several possible meanings are given. This is because as with our speech the position of the word – the context – gives it special meanings. So a hot dog would be quite different to a black dog, dog-end or dead dog. So when you read an entry which has several different meanings, sometimes with a ‘;’ between, it simply means any one of them could apply. So you need to think about the feelings in your dream, the context, the other imagery used. Please do not fall  into the trap that one reviewer made of saying that the whole dictionary is about sex. Of course sex is one meaning among many others. So use your own sense of your dream as well as any definitions given. See Meaning of Your Dream

  3. To really explore the meaning it is useful to use the Dream Dictionary as it is designed, rather than arrive at a ‘thought out’ interpretation. To see a working example of this see ‘Dream Interpretation Example One’.

Below are links to the full explanation and introduction to the complete Dream Dictionary Ultimate. You will see that it is being enlarged and improved all the time.

Introduction to the Dream Dictionary Ultimate

Tony Crisp has been interested in the health of mind and body since his early teens. I began writing about these subjects in 1956. My fascination for what lay under the surface of the mind led me to personally explore the unconscious using dreams and other mental and physical disciplines. From 1972 till ‘94 I worked as a psychotherapist using an eclectic, Humanistic Psychology approach which included dream work and releasing the secrets the body holds. My books include Do You Dream; The Instant Dream Book; and Liberating The Body and many more. See My Books also Life’s Little Secrets

During those years I has worked as a dream columnist for The Daily Mail, and She Magazine. I was the regular dream interpreter for the London Broadcasting Company; I ran Teletext’s dream page on UK television’s Channel Four; and also for New Zealand Teletext and now run this web site giving dream help as well as many features on subjects connected with the  human inner world.

Throughout more than five decades I have been involved in a personal search for the secrets of mind and spirit. In those years I have also taught thousands of people techniques of deep relaxation, meditation, and methods of self exploration using dreams. Wanting to dig deep I explored the use of dreams and taught individuals and groups of people how to use these visions of the night to discover and heal the deepest issues in themselves, and to touch the high ground of their spiritual awareness. I worked for twenty years as a psychotherapist using several approaches, one of which was a way of honouring the body as a doorway to the unconscious mind, the emotions and spiritual experience. See The LifeStream

During the sixty years of seeking the wild wondrous beasts of the mind and spirit I dared my own inner adventure. But I also travelled with other people as an ordinary person, not a therapist, sharing their experience of fear and wonder as they unveiled and set loose their fountain of perception. I have travelled countless dream pathways, traversed the timeless with those using awareness enhancing drugs, and wrestled with the vitality of the body as people mimed and shouted their deepest intuitions through movement, dance and voice.

I have different kinds of dreams like cockroaches are bigger then humans and then they attacked my family and only me and my mom and my brother are left.another is I fall in love with someone I don’t know even I couldn’t see his face and and I am living a very nice life .
And the major problem with me is I can not remember my dreams very well and yes one more problems the things that I saw in dreams I remember only a little part of it but strangely it happens with me in my real life all the things which I saw in my dreams happens with me in my real life .

I just woke up from a dream about my father, I feel very emotional and the tears are still coming. In my dream he was very silent never said a single word and his eyes were always on me with a very deep and stern look. He had my son in his arms and then put him in a swimming pool fully dressed yet my dad remained outside the pool but somehow still was holding my son. It’s weird because I have 4 sons but this baby although my “son” in my dream was NOT any of my 4 sons in real life. Next we were in a taxi, me my father my infant son and some girl who I don’t know who she is or supposed to be in my dream other than she’s my “friend”. Then my dream changed completely all of a sudden (after dropping my “friend” off and then getting out of the taxi ourselves at a different location) I was near my grandma’s old property (my grandma is deceased in real life) it appeared all my family for the most part is there just kind of mingling in the distance (everyone appears joyful) then I go ask my ex sister inlaw directions to get around this huge gap on a trail that just drops off into the river. She never answers me but I go (with my best friend from 4th grade) and I see 2 adult bears (who appeared to be aggressively play fighting), somehow I knew they were both females. I am aware of them and on alert but not scared of them although I was repeatedly reminding my childhood bestfriend of their presence and was constantly watching out for them. Then my childhood friend veered off on different road not the one we were on, and when she went to the other road there were a handful of other girls with her and they were all laughing as I was fighting tears and bu friend was saying she was going that way because she was really goinh to buy dog food and she just tricked me by saying she was going with me on a hike so she could get to the dog food yhe right direction. Im so confused and that last part almost makes me laugh because its so weird and makes no sense to me! It is now an hour after waking from this dream and I am still physically shaking and in tears……..HELP PLEASE WHAT DOES THIS MEAN???

Hi – I am stopping from answering your posts fully – but will try to give hints; sometimes long ones because I quote from masses I have already put online. Also, I need to take time to update the site – dreamhawk.

It would help you to understand your dreams, if you would read – http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/questions-2/#Summing and also http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/features-found-on-site/ which has so much information in.

Nothing can replace your own ability to understand your dream. With a little effort you can do this by practising what is described in – http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson or http://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/getting-at-your-dreams-meaning/

    Tony

Anamaria – Your father in your dream is not your actual father but the influence your father is in your life. It shows that he has left in you a feeling or watching over you, and the baby is not an outer baby but shows a new part of you that is emerging through the influence of your father. It is you giving birth to a new part of you. Nurse it and love it till it is strong enough to be a part of your outer life.

The swimming pool may show how much the new part of you is a link with what you learned from your father.

The dream has a great deal with the influence, not just from your father, but also from your grandmother and this leads to the pleasure of having a big family.

The two bears are probably a fight between two women, maybe family members. But it is not serious, though you are aware of it.

Your girlhood friend, you feel intuitively is not being honest with you.

Are your tears ones of feeling a great rush of emotion rather than pain? If so the shaking and the tears are caused because you opened to a mass of deep realisations about the amazing amount you are receiving from your close family. Hi Tony,
I know you’re answering not fully recently, but I’ll try my luck. I have just had a very significant dream in a tough for me time.
I have recently lost my dad to suicide, and my mother is troubled, which makes grieving harder. Yesterday she gave judgements on my dad’s choice, and made me feel awful, and like I took some steps back in my recovery from grief and back into life.
So last night, after a sad day like that, I had this dream. I was at my best friend’s place, and she confesses me with the least regret that she has been having a loving and intense relationship with this guy I have been in love with (or maybe obsessed with, since in true life he is very much like my mother and father combined together). In the dream, I must have set them up together, in a way of her “exploring” the guy and reasons for his non-commitment to me. The relationship then developed all behind my back. In true life, my friend and I did do something similar in our teens, and at the time she did have a sexual encounter with the guy I had already given up on, though, and I knew about it. In true life, my relationship with my best friend has cooled somewhat to the point that she is now more of a relative (we are now closer to our thirties). She lives in the same town the guy I am now interested in is from. This guy has been very important in my personal growth as through this non-relationship with him (he first got close, and then wanted to be friends, and I was not strong enough to let him go from my life so I held on to these crumbs of his time etc..) I discovered feelings of love for the first time, and this triggered a whole new page of self-discovery, which led to realising things about my mother, and re-evaluating my dad shortly before he died (and to which I have a lot of regret now, since I had no time to tell my dad how much I loved him).
Back to the dream, my friend’s teenage sister was there supporting her as well. I was alone, instead, and the whole place was a bit dark. It was hurtful because in the dream the guy was looking for my friend, calling her, they had a passionate and intimate relationship (even sexually), he was being present in the way I have so wished he had been with me (and which, importantly, maybe he is not even capable of in true life). In true life, they do not know each other, especially since the guy and I live in one country, and she lives in another country (which all the three of us are from). The dream went on with her confessing she got pregnant with his child. I asked where the child was, and she said she lost it because she was underweight. I believe at this point she was sitting on the floor and I was instead, standing and closer to the door of the room. The pain from this was unbearable and I woke up from it in shock.
I understand all of this has to do with abandonment, but I do not understand the betrayal, and why my best friend (who is now more of a relative) with the guy who made me discover the feelings of love, why they had a child and then lost it.
My father’s death happened at a time of deep changes for me, I have come to revaluate what kind of frienships I want, I have moved away from some even long-standing friendships, and my dad’s death is giving me even more incentive to give up on the guy of the dream (who in true life is treating me worse and worse after I even offered him my friendship) and to accept the hard fact that my best friend is probably just an honorary title to someone I have known a long time, but who is not necessarily worth of a title “best” right now in my life. At the same time, we shared a lot of time together up until 5-6 years ago, went on trips and just were there more for each other, which is something I am craving in my current friendships, too, as I live in a place where everyone seems to have so little time for one another. At the same time, in my teens I was perhaps under the influence of my friend a bit, and thought of her more highly than I should have.
I know it is a long explanation, and that you are busy with other endeavours, but I haven’t had such a lucid dream in a very long time, and given the hard time I am going through it would be of immense help to hear your views on my dream.
Thank you ( I reposted it from 2-3 weeks ago)

    Tony

V – I have seen this dream before and thought I answered it – but can’t find any trace of it – so here goes.

The friend who you dreamt confesses she is having an affair with the loved guy – our dreams have another ‘take’ on it. When you think about a friend a person you meet or a person you love, you are only taking in your thoughts, impressions and feelings about them. So, many people do not realise that they have an inner person equally as powerful as the external person you know. You have taken in millions of bits of memory, lessons learnt, life experiences along with all the feelings or problems met by meeting or loving them, and they are what makes you the person you are. The memories and experience we gather unconsciously change us and are not lost. It is part of you and is symbolised in dreams as a person or event. Such an inner person can appear in dreams because you still carry the memories or impressions of them, and so they influenced what you hold within you.

So your friend and loved person are symbols of things taking place in you and should not be thought of as referring to the actual person. It is the feelings that are important – the feeling of being betrayed. What part has this feeling played in your life? Don’t pin it on any person, just trace it back and watch it unfold. Remember, the feeling is about your mother and father combined. The discovery of love starts at the very foundation of your life – in our times we have developed a rather strange definition of love. Somehow we have, in our literature and drama, and of course in our personal experience, believed love to be some sort of magic relationship, a sort of soul mate, that if we find, we will live ‘happily ever after’. But in fact few if any of us find such a mate, and ‘love’ relationships are usually only partly satisfying, or often deeply painful. However, without love – defined differently – none of us would have survived physically or psychologically. See http://dreamhawk.com/relationship-sex/learning-to-love/

You fathers death is another important part of the puzzle. How do you view death? See http://dreamhawk.com/news/there-is-a-huge-change-happening/ and http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/archetype-of-the-paradigm/

First, I’m not pregnant. I had a dream last night that I found out I was having twins (it was very early on, like 25 weeks, I hadn’t gained any weight, I had no idea.) So it got weird when the babies ripped themselves out of the scar on my belly (I’ve had 2 c-sections, for real.) I had to go to the hospital, get them in the nicu, and have surgeries to repair the tears in my body. My real OB was there, but they wouldn’t let her do it. A male doctor did and left me with stitches all over my stomach. Then I had to figure out how to heal and take care of 2 new babies, 4 kids total with the actual children I have. There was a huge focus in the dream on naming the babies. They were healthy. I wasn’t. I woke up scared and anxious. How am I going to take care of 4 kids, clothes, diapers, school costs, and deal with the fact that I have been disfigured (in my dream) by this Dr? Very strange. Help! Thank you!

    Tony

Keri – Of course you are pregnant, but not with physical babies. Having a baby is what we do when we are fertile and fertilised with something new that we hold within us – like a new idea or way of life that we have arrived at though hard experience.

So you have twins. Something that I have seen often before, is how, particularly women I suppose, have often failed to understand the great power they have in their instinctive sexual drives. Those drives link them with their ability to create and be creative. But what I see is that those drives need not be expressed through producing child. This does not mean they need to be frustrated or repressed, but that they be accepted and directed into another direction. It means being fully aware of the sexual dynamics of interrelations, in business, in work, in everyday dealings with people.

Women represent power of emotion. I see that women’s bodies are a manifestation of powerful earth changes, for in their menstruation they experience the death and renewal, and the blood of their change should be used as a sign of being a part of such enormous change and not fight against it. They have a wonderful hidden potential that is slowly emerging. See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/goddess/

You appear to have a fear of pain in childbirth, and what is why you dreamt of your body being torn open. In dreams whenever we dream its images are not like real life, because a dream is nothing like outer life where things could hurt you, but is an image like on a cinema screen, so that even if a gun is pointed at you and fired it can do no damage – except if you run in fear; so, all the things that scare you are simply your own fears projected onto the screen of your sleeping mind.
But such fear can be caused because if undealt with traumas from childhood are not faced, or by being exposed to awful film images that you believe are real. So change your self image by using http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/secrets-power-dreaming/

I have been analyzing and interpreting my dreams for some time now. I find that I deem more often when I am troubled.
There is one dream I still don’t know what to make of. And I can’t shake it off.
I write down some of my dreams and would like to share the notes from that dream in hope that I could get some help in interpreting it.

There was an explosion
Or at least it looked like an explosion
It felt like a plane just crashed
I see it from the horizon
A big explosion of colors and cloud of smoke
I didn’t see the plane
I didn’t see it fall
I just saw the explosion

Then there was another airplane
It looks big
It was about to land
It was flying low
Towards me
I panicked
As it came closer I tried to step away
Landed on my butt and watched as it came closer and closer
It was slowing down but was still pointed towards me
When it’s nose was just an inch from me I was sitting on the ground it stops
I could touch it
I got somebody to help me up
Don’t remember who it was though
But I did manage to get up

I was scared that it went for me that it almost hit me
I was in awe of the plane too
There was a relief when it stopped

The place where it happened looks like the area near the airport
Near Bella vista
It was early morning I think

Hi! In my dream I was visiting my father in law who I knew was dead but somehow we were going there for dinner the house wasn’t his physical real home but I marveled how he had carried on without his wife who was recently deceased. I was trying to get his attention but he kept walking past me busy with the meal preparations . Kind of frustrated I looked to my left all the furniture was more elegant than his taste dark brown hard wood floors and ivory painted provincial furniture as I looked I saw the little dust balls under the ffurnitue on the floor . A voice came from behind me to my right that seemed to narrate to me , it was female- ” he almost didn’t make it after she died he took to drinking but now he is well” Felt compassion and admiration for him instead of the feeling I had of being ignored. Then the same woman could tell by her voice was now sitting at my left as I was standing. She sat crossed legged about early 60s she was an Indian woman her hair was black. She looked at me and said ” draw the trident. She moved a paper in front of me with a pen? And said again I want you to draw the trident.

Hey!
Ive been trying to find some answers from many sites but it seems difficult.
My friend (man) saw some dream couple days ago. He was on trip in italy with some of his old classmates. They went to some museums etc. I wasnt there on that time but later when he was standing in some cliff of mountain and whole day was just passing by in his eyes – he saw that I was also there. But all the time somehow background or just behind him so he could not see me. After that he was falling from that mountain but I was there too. Falling with him and he somehow felt relaxed or like everything was fine.
We never been on same class. I am a woman and we had something between us when we were teenagers (like 7 years ago). I feel like he is wanting to get out of friendzone but he just never say that to me.
I really hope you can help me!
Thank you allready. :)

Mila – You said your man friend saw the dream, but I am taking it that it is your dream?

But remember Mila that friend or people in dreams do not often refer to the actual person. When you think about a friend or a person you meet, you are only taking in your thoughts, impressions and feelings about them. So many people do not realise that they have an inner person equally as powerful as the external person you know. Such an inner person can appear in dreams because you still carry the memories or impressions of them, and so they influenced what you hold within you.

We have a function of our mind that is like a filing cabinet, so all your memories of your friend are melted together and presented as a living person in your dreams. See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/characters-or-people-in-dreams/

The meaning depends on what you feel about your friend. You could find out by using http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson

It might be that you felt a like with him, so it would be worthwhile to check if he is okay. But it sounds like you still have a link with him because of his getting out of his relationship with you = it leaves unanswered questions in you.

Dani – That she is riding on a herd of African elephants is a great dream, showing a lack of fear about the elephants. In children’s dreams it indicates that they have an independent and investigative mind.

The Lyme infection is, unless she shows signs of infection (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lyme_disease), nothing to worry about. She has probably read about or heard about the illness and it worries her. Tell her that the process of Life is protecting her. Show her how to take her pulse, and explain how even when fast asleep Life keeps her breathing and her heart beating, and that it is a good idea to tell her to her imagining letting the wonderful power keep working, and that it will cure the illness she dreamt of.

I just found your page today and decided to ask about this dream that i believe I had before. Any insights are greatly appreciated, In the dream my wife gave me a leather jacket that she said cost $5200. It was a jacket that she wanted me to recover it was a bit tattered and in the dream the buckle appeared and the leather that surrounded the buckle was apparently unstitched but I saw it in its original stitched position and this was to be recovered. My feelings in the dream were what disturbed me, I wanted her to return the jacket and is use the 5200 to put back into the business. Thank you for sharing any insight. I just realized that I need to restitch the part that holds the coat on. It was a black coat and a little grey from wear.
