Native American

Natural wisdom; self acceptance and wisdom based on this awareness of ones links with the world and the intuition or wisdom of the irrational or unconscious. It can represent realisation of tribal wisdom and the link with intuitive initiations into stages of growth and entrance into the house of the ancestors. For some people it links with feelings of being dispossessed.

If you live in America, you may have all the above associations of being touch in with nature, but some people dream of being attacked and threatened. And this is probably an expression of meeting the alien in you, or a fear of strangers. The Indian can also be a guide and a wise person. See See alien – Reaction to the unconscious

Example: Dreamt that a young modern Red Indian was talking to me while walking in London. He said he would show me one of the secret nerve blocks used by the shamans. He pressed quickly the right side of my throat and tapped my forehead. Then he walked backwards away from me a few paces, and he appeared to shrink in size and diminish in age. I immediately thought this must have been the physiological method used in their magic. I seemed to remember having been shown it before by another Red Indian. He didn’t have to walk away, but looked young and small anyway. To end the effect, the Indian tapped the base of my neck in the thyroid area, and tapped my buttocks.

Useful questions are:

What are my feelings about the Indian or being an Indian?

What am I gaining or getting from the Indian?

I had the weirdest and most awful nightmare last night and I know it off by heart.Myself and a few others were entrapped in a prison/cage, barred up.Then I spotted smoke and fire coming from the horizon down the hill, eventually myself and the other prisoners ran and tried to jump the walls, they were so large it took ages.Eventually I got over and everyone else but me got skinned from head to toe. When I reached the woods there was 3 new creatures, some sort of alien, this is the strange part of the dream.Realising I had no weapons,in the dream I repeated “wake up kate!!!” And then I woke up for a second or less and then I went back to sleep but when I woke up in the same dream and situation I had a gun???….

    -Tony Crisp 2014-12-11 9:29:06

Kate – The nightmare is only an attempt on the part of your deepest nature to present a new level of yourself. If you look back to your earliest memories you will see that you went through massive periods of growth and change. Some of the changes were challenging, even hard or scary. But we never stop growing and you have been faced with another change that you are trying to escape from experiencing.

You were trapped in the prison of your own beliefs, attitudes or life style. See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/prison-prisoner-imprisoned/

You managed to escape but it left you feeling exposed and hurt even. The aliens were simply parts of yourself you were meeting for the first time, so you could not connect with them and felt they were alien to you. See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/alien/

Your reaction to meeting more of yourself was one of trying to escape or wanted to kill out the new part you were meeting – the gun. See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/questions-2/#Summing

On Oct 3, 2014. My Mom and I were in a car accident, single vehicle rollover, in a black SUV. We were both okay, car totaled. The next day had a dream: I was at a graduation ceremony in a huge building. Everyone was wearing red or white robes. I had been wearing white. There was an announcement, names were called, mine was called. I was told that from now on I would be wearing a red robe. I felt lost, because I had been with the white robes, they were my group and my friends, I had learned their roles, I knew very little about the other group. The white robes worked out side in a desert among graves. The red robes worked in a large glass building, were there was grass lawns. I went there. I woke up. Oct. 7, my uncle who was like a father to me, died of lung cancer. I found it a disturbing dream to have between two traumatic events. Any insights?

I had a dream that I was on a trip, driving my car. I was leaving a rest area, to get back into the freeway. Blocking the road were sleeping baby bears and their mothers. I managed to drive around them, but stopped my car to see if they were all okay, and I wanted to move them to a safe place. I was worried about cars hitting them. I walked around looking for somewhere safe. There was little natural cover, there were old buildings, like a ghost town. In a old barn like building, was an elderly couple, I asked them to help me. We found an old abandoned car, and lined it with blankets. More people had stopped by to help. We carried the bears, which were all small, to the car. An were going to cover it up for protection. Then there were kittens too. The bears were all very docile.

Chavez – A lovely dream showing how the natural and instinctive part of you is being cared for by the part of you that is involved in the workaday side of your life. See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/brain-levels-and-dreams/#mammalbrain

You are sensitive enough to feel the need to give the natural side of you a decent place in which it will not be killed by too much attention to earning a living and ‘getting somewhere’. See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/animals/

Thank you for your insightful interpretation of my dream. I have a lot of strange dreams, often vivid. I don’t always understand them, which can be frustrating, because sometimes I think they are messages.

        -Tony Crisp 2014-12-07 13:24:17

Chavez – Thanks for your feedback. I saw that I missed another dream you left in October. I can’t keep up with answering all, so sorry I missed yours.

That’s okay, it is very kind of you to help so many people.Society needs more people like you to help us.

I recently had this dream where me and a friend are driving through the desert, we seem to be in search of something. We pull up and park by a huge rock formation and we begin to hike up. As I near the top, I notice a huge boulder with a tiny spring beginning to trickle from it. I then begin to rub the area where the stream is starting and run my hands over the huge stone. The stream begins to flow abundantly and other streams begin to flow from this boulder. I awoke feeling excited and joyful. I feel it has significance and would like to know your thoughts on this.

Thank you!!
Diana

    -Tony Crisp 2014-12-11 9:42:40

Diana – Of course you felt excited, because you were/are in search of something and found or touched your core self. See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/core/

You climbed in consciousness until you reached the top (of your head). The trickle of water was the flow of energy that produces us and grows us – your core self in fact.

Of course you have only lightly touched it, and to really claim it you need to do more. Dreams images are like icons on a computer screen – You have to ‘click’ on your dream images to make them come alive. Thinking about them doesn’t work. You need to open yourself to the magic of them. I left my dream on here a while back, I was hoping you would respond and tell me what you think it means. Thank you so much

-Kristen 2014-11-04 17:15:03

I am native American but don’t know a lot about my heritage. I keep having these recurring dreams. I am always in nature and running towards my son’s cries. The cry has change as he gets older. I always end up at a large body of water. I get a very calm feeling at the water and the crying stops just before I wake up.

    -Tony Crisp 2014-11-05 10:35:21

Kristen – The dream is what you hold within you as a heritage from your ancestors. The child and you are in nature, meaning that the part of you that was not taught in a different world is crying out for you to find your roots again.

The body of water is your inner world and is deep. On the surface you are an American raised in the culture of the present time. But a little way under the surface where your dreams speak to you, you meet the tribal traditions. Deeper still you find your races memories of its triumphs and defeats – that is wisdom. It will show you the way of your people if you learn to use the following – http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson.

But remember that what you have as a heritage must be forged in the fire of today, because the wisdom must also be changed by your own experience. That is real wisdom.

I had a dream the night i turned 21. It was myself, my grandmother, my great grandmother and my great-great grandmother. (my great great grandmother is full blood Cherokee) We where all sitting in this beautiful field with amazing green grass. We where eating in a circle and talking and laughing when these men rushed on us. We all sat and looked at the ground while they searched our picnic, They where all dressed in Native American clothing. one caught a glimpse of the cross around my neck and ran up to me. He snatched it off of me and shoved it in my face and screamed “You are betraying your people!” Then he started to beat me. He finally stopped when the other men he was with left. I laid there with my face in the dirt, and my family came up to me and started to clean the dirt and blood off of me, then my great great grandmother said something that i didn’t understand, but in my heart i knew that she was proud of me.

    -Tony Crisp 2014-11-26 9:35:16

Mycah – Thanks for reminding me of your dream. I feel awful sometimes but get so many I cannot keep up with and so have to leave them. Also am revising the dream dictionary and am just up to Open-Opening – a new entry.

Before I try to make sense of your dream please read http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/questions-2/#Summing it tries to give basic information about how dreams work and the wrong views many people have of them.

As you will have gathered all the people and places in your dream are expressions of your own feelings. See for more information http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/characters-or-people-in-dreams/

The dream starts with you remembering the heritage left you by the great women of your family. The dream opens you to feel something of what has passed to you from them. Such things are not usually spoken but are passed by living with and feeling them. See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/the-conjuring-trick/ it shows how such wisdom is passed on.

But there is a conflict in you passed from the male side of the family because of your Christian affiliation. Such things are worked out in your dream and inner life. But the female wisdom gave you assurance.

In my inner world I have explored and been taught the wisdom of your Native American heritage. I was also shown in the same manner the inner teachings of China, of India and the African people. And something I learnt is that our spiritual path that Creator recommends is that we are no longer just Cherokee, because we are today exposed to many traditions, and we do not need to deny any of them – for we are children of Creator, who gives life to all things to all animals and to all people – and we are the children of such a creator, and so in us we can be a part of it all.

So be proud of your ancestral heritage, and of your Christian self as well. See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson if you want to explore the depths of you dream.

For a few years now I’ve been having dreams with Native American themes, from gigantic horse sculptures with Native American engravings to quilts. The one that stands out the most is rather weird. It starts in a village in the mountains where I live (in the dream) and I’m walking home from the store when I hear these men shouting and I just know they’re after me. Then out of nowhere, a Native American man (childhood friend and now fiancée) comes out of nowhere and grabs my arm and yells at me to run. So we start running out of the village and towards the top of the mountain but the men are still chasing us. At some point I get really tired and I start slowing down and despair takes over as my feet seem to sink in the dirt, but then Connor (the Native American man) comes back and pulls me up and we start running again, but unfortunately the men caught up to us and they’re really close to catching us. Then this sort of shiver runs down my spine and as I look into the trees I see a pack of giant wolves jump out among us all. We all stop and just stare, fear keeping us silent, but then as I looked at one of the Wolves, the alpha, I just understood it, it was like o could hear its thoughts. So I howled at it, and it and a few others started chasing the attackers away. Connor and I started running again, still going towards the top of the mountain, and I knew we were going to Connor’s village. We ran through a forest, over a canyon and then we got there. As I walked into the village, the chief greeted me as though I was his own and invited us to dinner. After the dinner Connor and I were just laying on the grass when I told him I wanted to go see Her. The village’s spiritual leader. So we chased each other up the peak of the mountain as we had done since we were kids and when we got to the top it was already dark. We entered a clearing in the trees where the grass grew thick and beautiful and you could see all the stars and the moon bathed the clearing in a faint light. Then from up ahead, a gentle voice came and said “I have been waiting for you, my dears.” I looked up to see my favorite creature in the world: the village Shaman, a polar bear. We both ran to her and laid next to her as she started telling us stories unil we fell asleep. We woke up the next morning back in the village and then I woke up.
I have no idea where the dream came from or what it meant, but it’s stick with me all this time. What do you think it means?

    -Tony Crisp 2015-01-25 13:35:10

Diana – Well it isn’t at all like normal dreams, more like a story. But here goes at telling what I think it means.

In dreams everything is an image that signifies something else, and you were running away to escape from your own fears of men – or at least your fears. See http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/questions-2/#Summing

The fears get worse because you are avoiding them instead of facing them so you can hardly move. Then you tap into your feelings about the Native American man and this brings courage, but you still run from what scares you.

The next significant scene is with the wolves – a real meeting with you instincts. See
    http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/brain-levels-and-dreams/

We are all animals that have develop self awareness, something that gives us a sense of being a separate personality. This leaves us a tiny creature without the wider awareness and ready made instincts of animals. So the wolf awareness brings consciousness – as a group awareness. This enabled you to meet the fears you have but you didn’t transform them into usable energy but kept running. See http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/lifes-little-secrets/

Meeting with the village spiritual leader – a totem animal suggesting great strength and ability to survive. There you relaxed. But dream images are just like icons on a computer screen. You have to ‘click’ on your dream images to make them come alive. Thinking about them doesn’t work. You need to open yourself to the magic of them. To really meet the beings in your dream you might try – http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson

hi there I’m a new Zealand Maori and lately I been having dreams of 2 native American Indians showing me strange symbols in a cave besides 2 split rivers where one side is light blue with small ice bergs floating by and the other is the natural green and calm when I talked to the two mean they really enjoyed my Maori language do u know what that means

I had a dream that me and my friends went to a water park, and as soon we were ready to go the buses didn’t come. It turned night, we stayed there for a couple of days until we decided to leave as soon we get to an exit I just see a bunch of natives surrounding us with spears. I and my friends ran. They trapped us and killed anyone who tried to escape. They took all of us to their town. But it was like a city of people they captured. I and my friend planned an escape. We found one and I saw my family waiting for us outside so we left with them. As we got out of their city we seen them go to ours trying to look for us, but never found us then I woke up.

    -Tony Crisp 2014-09-09 7:14:48

David – All you are meeting in your dream is your own fear. Whenever we dream its images are not like real life. because a dream is nothing like outer life where things could hurt you, but is an image like on a cinema screen that even if a gun is pointed at you and fired it can do no damage – except if you run in fear. So all the things that scare you are simply your own fears projected onto the screen of your sleeping mind.

Your dream says that you were getting nearer to facing the things you see and fear in the night – the unconscious. And the natives are your own instinctive fears that you try to escape from by running. If you can face them knowing that they cannot hurt you they will become good powers. See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/questions-2/#Summing

Your family represent the beliefs and attitudes you have been raised with, like feelings that dreams and the fears they reveal are things you must run from. See http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/martial-art-of-the-mind/

Last night I dreamt of a modern Native American Man. He was very large and did not speak. I felt his words as thoughts –It seemed that it was not as important what he was saying to me as how he was communication to me. In the dream there was also a sense of people who had transitioned from this world making their presence known to me. There were several o them. One slightly moved a door that was ajar, so that I would notice. I was not afraid, but it was like they were saying, yes this is really happening. Then the native Man would sort of acknowledge to me through his thinking, emotions, yes prepare, this IS happening.

-David 2014-08-25 19:35:31

I had one regarding a native American last night, i walked through a forest, it wasn’t very dense i could see people at around 500 meters away. They weren’t happy, they argued quite loudly.
I walked towards them to ask what was going on and they blamed me for whatever happened which made them angry(they didn’t tell me when i asked) and they stood in front of me yelling and looking at me very angrily. I looked to my right and saw a large, bald, rich man dressed in a white suit grinning as things escalated(i didn’t know the man either)

As the crowd came very close to me, they implied i belonged with a native American man who walked towards me.
He signed me to come with him as he walked past me, so i turned around and started running with him. As we reached the edge of the forest, he pointed like i should flee the forest.
I think he said to me ”flee, we’ll meet again” so i jumped as i neared the creek that’s on the edge of the forest.. My arms started glowing orange/red and i flew over the creek and landed on the side of a freeway..

I wonder, does anyone here know what the whole thing could’ve meant?

    -Tony Crisp 2014-08-28 13:04:26

David – Seeing that everything in a dream is created out of ones own feelings, fears, attitudes and personality, everything in the dream is you. See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/questions-2/#Summing as it explains so much.

So the men shouting I feel shows a conflict in you about who and what you are. The people shouting are the part of your character that is very much a white man, but there is another part that has a great affinity to the inner life represented by the Native American. From your dream it seems that you are on the verge of a change in you. It doesn’t mean that you will lose the white man that I assume you are. It means that another aspect of you will develop. It is a side of you with greater intuition and vision, a link with the natural forces of nature and yourself.

The glowing arms are an indication of the change occurring in you. It may develop into vibrations in your body occurring as you sleep, waking you. It is a natural process where Life awakens in you and starts its process of inner growth.

I had a dream, that my partner and I were in this retail store. A fire alarm went off, next I was running with my partner and saw two wolves, both moms. The second wolf, I touched on the forehead and all of a sudden I felt this energy go through me. I closed my eyes and I started spinning in circles on my knees, like in an aura. Then I was lifted off the ground. I could hear native flutes and singing in the midst . The Wolfe was a red color.
I use to dream of eagles and tigers and floating in the air looking down on people. Like I was looking for someone.

I am 60 yrs old and have always wondered about a recurring dream I have had all my life. Since a child I would dream that I was a demon and be chasing people and making sounds like out of the Exorcist. I would make the sounds out loud. As I got older and began trying to deal with my issues of self hate and fear, the dream changed to the demon being outside of myself, but still around.. Then, during a stressful few days, I dreamt that the demon was in front of me, and I knew it was after my daughter. It was very hideous, with big jaws and teeth snapping at me. I grabbed it by the throat, swore out loud at it, and killed it. I began thinking the demon signified my self hate, and a mom can pass that disease to her kids, hence I knew it was after my daughter. What do you think?

-Erin 2014-07-19 3:08:19

I have the same dream a few nights in a row now, I am running through woods or grassy lands and all the sudden( like watching TV) an Indian jumps in front of my face all painted white and I wake up. It’s happened about three times now since I have moved to Arizona. It’s only been four months since I have been here. I’m not sure what it means. Thank you.
