Here at last is the new and redesigned website I have been promising my avid readers for some years. It is now about six years old – and thank you for all the wonderful dreams and comments you have all sent.

(Please note this site asks no fees, and posts that have any adverts or links to adverts will be deleted)

It has taken a lot of hard work with my son Leon who was the great mover behind this new site. Apart from that it is all done by me, Tony Crisp. The new site is bringing dream interpretation and the many features it holds right up to date. You will be able to search for any entry and quickly find it. Such a search will also bring up other related entries. So if your search is for dog, it will also display entries for coyote, animal and jackal, that will add to the information presented.

DreamHawk is probably the oldest dream interpretation site on the web. It started in the mid eighties on CompuServe, and later was called Waves. When I went more mainline the name changed to DreamHawk. But I was also the earliest writer on dreams who attempted a dream dictionary, one not based on rigid dream theories such as Freudian or Jungian ideas, or the made up rubbish of the dictionaries saying each dream is about good or bad luck. The earliest book I did on dreams was in Do You Dream, and was published in 1971. This included a dream dictionary.

The new DreamHawk will enable able you to post comments and develop contact with other dreamers. See Discussion Forums.

It has always been my policy to never charge for any service given, so this site and the years and hours spent producing it is purely non-commercial. I have done this because living at a time when I had no money for professional help for therapy, I found that help was here with me when  I prayed for it. I found that when two or three are gathered together in my name – the name of love – help flows from ordinary people supporting each other. Also I find that supporting the obviously sick financial structure by trying to grab as much money as possible seems ridiculous. So  I pass on that help to others. But obviously we need support, and you can give that by clicking on any adverts that interest you, and buying my books. So here are ways you can do that:

  • Link to this site from your website, Facebook.
  • Tell other people about this site
  • Visit us on Facebook .

Future Change

Something else that is coming, but will take time to complete, is a completely new and massively enlarged dream dictionary. This will be done a little at time, so the first entries will appear fairly soon. The new dictionary will have a simple statement of the main meanings of the dream image, followed by a deeper description. Then questions about the dream image will follow that if answered will lead you to your own understanding. Up to the O’s at the moment – December 2014

Meanwhile, thank you to those of you who have been loyal supporters of the site, and welcome to those who are new. Enjoy exploring the wonders of dreams and your inner life. It might be helpful to read Summing Up  or Questions

Thank you very much, your site a great help for me! Blessings, Carol

Hello Tony, thank u very much for your website, I regularly go to it first thing in the mornings!

Hoping you can help. This week I had a whole mess of dreams in one night, and have done my best to ‘read’ them all, except for one which featured a wedding.

I’m not sure if telling u the order + description of the dreams is important but I’ll go ahead and do that:

First I dreamt I was looking at an old family video of the present me, carrying myself when I was a baby – both baby and adult me were joyous in each other’s company – the adult me then noticed some paintings of cats that baby-me had done, which were very talented portraits, and were skilled exercises in scale and perspective. (I took the message to be that I’ve befriended my inner child, and am listening more to my calling?)

Then I dreamt it was wartime and I was put in charge of managing the toilet paper supply (odd job I know). I was quite eager to perform the job well. (I initially wondered if it was a message about excrement + creativity, but possibly more about me better managing the messy parts of my life?)

I then dreamt I was holding an Indian baby (as in from India, possibly female?), to which I then found myself at an Indian wedding as a guest, taking part in a traditional Indian dance with one of the Indian female guests (attractive, with a cool expression, not sure if that detail is important?). I understood from the dream that the female guest was quite reserved, but when we danced, it was quite an erotic dance, as my fingers would be touching her bare waists turning her around when the step called for it. (No idea what this section of the dream could mean… )

The final part of the dreaming, I was going to watch a movie at a community cinema. Once in my seat, a writer friend next to me said, ‘you’d better go get it’ – or something or rather. So I got up to leave, and upon leaving I saw my father out front, working as a volunteer, handing out flyers for the show that evening. He seemed quite happy and proud. I was trying to run back as fast as I could to wherever it was, but was met with a lot of invisible resistance in the running. I was then met with a series of hurdles (upright frames), to which I first tried to run around them, but as I progressed the hurdles drew in tighter and were lower, which I ended up trying to crouch under to pass them, forcing me to further slow down. (I took this to be a message about patience?)

I should say, I don’t usually dream this way…

I already wrote on the site just now. I had a dream I was sleeping with a baby bear and after being afraid I became very comfortable and warm. I was afraid at first and the next morning it left. Everything was okay.

    -virginia gray 2016-11-18 2:32:18

Me again. There was a guy on the other side of the bear. We were all sleeping.

Thank you, Tony Crisp, for you wonderful dream site. I have returned again and again, and always found something that allowed me to look at a dream more openly, but this morning, I couldn’t make sense of the suggestions. Then, as I stated thinking why those suggestions came up, I saw the reasons why – and they fit beautifully.

The ‘manipulating landlord’ became the Juggler with a newfound ability to juggle many things in a balanced manner, a clearer sense of the Self on the verge of entering one life for another, the old Self on the cusp of a more extraverted (I am an Introvert with a big I) sense of “age” and the ability to connect with life ‘out there’ while adopting a willingness to BE what I see as possible at any given moment.

    -Tony Crisp 2016-12-06 9:20:00

Thanks Nana – You have got through the symbols to a realisation few people manage – the ability to connect with life ‘out there’ while adopting a willingness to BE what I see as possible at any given moment.

    A shapeshifter maybe?

      -Nanna Mercer 2016-12-09 13:09:45

Thank you, Tony. Very interesting. I knew nothing about the shapeshifter, so I looked it up: http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/archetype-of-the-shapeshifter/

What I read makes sense in terms of where I am going, rather than where I am at this moment, which seems to be just on the verge of change.

Notably, I wish to be in the world, but not of it and my sense of death is that it’s a bridge. What I think I know is, well, not wrong, for it serves, but not right either, so that is where I am learning to balance, to juggle between form and formlessness.

        -Tony Crisp 2016-12-11 12:09:47

Nanna – Yes, It is what I was hinting at.

Excuse me for quoting stuff, but it saves me a lot of time. So – The way of the razors edge can depict any behaviour or attitudes that are one-sidedness and would lead to imbalance within the individual. But at the same time it is not about being perfect or a saint, but a balanced and whole human being with very wide choices. Walking it we balance between the opposites facing us. See http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/mountain-path/

Also, you may have read this already – What is reality? What is true?

Well, the answer is that they are all true. But they are different truths because seen through the eyes of a body they are very different than the eyeless view of bodiless existence.

The tragedy is that we may be stuck in just one level of experience, whether high or low makes no difference. But if we are stuck in the pains of our emotions, from the eyes of another level they are the experience of joyful and varied life, and a taste of heaven.

Could you please interpret this dream?

Dear Tony (and Leon)

I cannot thank you enough for sharing your life’s work and life’s journey with us online with this resource

I have often used this dream site

it has really helped me identify so much and awaken my own inner life and even foretell things in dreams.

We are all ethereal beings and this site and you helped me recall/realise that

It is important work on the earth right now to help people make sense of their inner world as it is really the key to the outer everything world

(I might not have such a good grasp on the outer world trappings but thats cos I think the way we live on this planet is wrong so I live a moral and success code not of the norm)

It seems that your work helping people make sense in the inner/ether world is the key to most of our worldly interaction problems and is the answer to a better humanity and life on earth

so thanks for doing this with your time – it feels necessary

Ok well this message has got onto issues bigger than I thought all of a sudden…. yet not maybe issues beyond addressing- I’ll leave it unedited as is

Many thanks for being here and for the work you do here
It is so wonderful

I had a dream in which I watched myself being born. Not so much coming out the wound but being placed in my mothers arms, her touch and smell. What do you think that means?

-josephine 2017-04-10 22:27:45

my daughter haven’t seen her dad in 29 years and she dream that he was dead. What does her dream means.

    -Tony Crisp 2017-04-11 8:38:16

Hi – I am stopping from answering your posts fully – but will try to give hints; sometimes long ones because I quote from masses I have already put online. Also, I need to take time to update the site – dreamhawk.

It would help you to understand your dreams, if you would read – http://dreamhawk.com/approaches-to-being/questions-2/#Summing and also http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/features-found-on-site/ which has so much information in.

Nothing can replace your own ability to understand your dream. With a little effort you can do this by practising what is described in – http://dreamhawk.com/dream-encyclopedia/acting-on-your-dream/#BeingPerson or http://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/getting-at-your-dreams-meaning/

Josephine – It could mean two or even three things. It might be that he has died, because in dreams we have links with people and so dream about them.

It could also mean that your daughter has finally become free of the influence her father left inside her. Many people do not realise that they have an inner father equally as powerful as an external father. You have taken in millions of bits of memory, lessons learnt, life experiences along with all the feelings or problems met by loving and living with your father, and they are what makes you the person you are. This is true even if your father was never there for you – you still have all the memories of him not being there for you filed under ‘Father’. The memories and experience we gather unconsciously change us and are not lost. It is part of you and is symbolised in dreams as a person or event. Such an inner father can appear in dreams because you are still deeply influenced by what you hold within you.

So it often happens when a child moves to being independent of the parental influence they dram of see the parent dead.

When exploring his dream, the man says: “I was led to a direct feeling link with my mother as the dead body. I saw, or felt, that when I cut off from her at 5 and attempted independence of my need for her, because of the pain she brought about in me, I had killed her as an inward figure in my life, and buried my feelings of need for her. The cement represented the energy I had used, the decisiveness, to bury her, to get her out on my life. I went on to recognise that killing and burying my mother, or my relationship with my mother, in that way was not in my own best interests. It was really an expression of my own lack of love and awareness of my best survival direction. So imagined I took the bone’s and carefully and reverently buried them, along with my father.”
